Logic 9 Studio Site Licensing

I am a professor at a college of music in Chiang Mai, Thailand teaching an audio recording class. We have a Mac lab of 13 computers and want to load Logic Studio on these computers. I cannot find anywhere in Thailand (even the Apple Store in Chiang Mai) how to get the software with site licenses for the 13 computers. Can anyone help me with this? It is very clear in the USA but the lines are very, very gray here in Thailand.
Thanks for your help.

Hmm that's strange. Any ideas of why this might be the problem?
I've been told that "daisy-chaining" firewire is the way to go. Could I use some kind of a fire wire-hub instead?
I need to have both connected simultaneously since I'm recording onto the external drive.
I will unplug the WD and give it a try, but really, that's just solving a problem by creating another one...

  • Going from Leopard to Snow Leopard - Logic Studio 8 license question

    Hello everyone !!!
I'm currently running Leopard on my MacBook and I'm planning to upgrade to Snow Leopard by performing a clean install of it.
    My question is:
Will I lose my Logic Studio 8 license or any features, like the upgrading to Logic Studio 9 one, if i do it that way ?
    Thanks in advance.

If you wipe Logic by doing a clean install, then Logic will ask you to re-enter your serial number just as it did on first installation.
if you originally upgraded from LP7, it will probably also ask you for your original XSkey as well.
As long as your have your serial number, then there is no problem doing a clean reinstall.

  • Logic Studio HE License

I've just ordered Logic Studio from the HE Store for my new Macbook Pro but I plan on buying an iMac after MacWorld.
I'm just wondering if the license for Logic Studio allows for the software to be installed on more than one computer if I own them both and will only be using one at any one time.
    Thanks

All Apple license agreements are here:

  • Logic Studio - Packaging

    Hi,
I am looking to remotely deploy Logic studio (including additional content). We have Mac OS-X server running with PackageMaker and Apple Remote Desktop 3.5. I have managed to make a package to deploy the standard package for Logic Studio, but I am unsure how to create a package to include the additional content and also pre-fill the licence key. Does anyone have a guide which may be of use? I am relatively new to macs, especially the server side, and could do with some advice. the logical process seems quite different to the before and after snap shots used with msi creation.
    Regards,
    Si

The standard packages are not the problem (well, meaning: it is technically possible to deploy them), but the serial number is stored in a machine specific. You need a Logic Studio Volume License for deployment to several machines.

  • Upgrading my extra site license to Logic 7?

I have 2 licenses for Logic 6 Plat that I'd like to upgrade to 7 Pro. I seem to recall previous upgrades to my additional license being lower cost through eMagic as it was considered a site license. I called the Apple Store sales line and they were pretty sure I had to pay $299 per system, but advised that I post the question here because they couldn't be certain.
Anybody had any experience with upgrading their additional license?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Randall

    299 for each one AFAIK.

  • Educational License and Logic Studio Discs

    Greetings,
I need to re-install Logic Studio at our College and have all the licenses for the iMac's, but only 2 sets of Logic Studios discs, but have 20+ Mac's to install Logic Studio on.
Obviously, doing a full Logic install (which is what we need) will take time on 20+ Mac's. I reckon I would only have time to install 4 a day with the 2 sets of discs.
Therefore, can I copy the original discs so I can install Logic simultaneously on all the Mac's?

If the machines are on all a network, it might be quicker just to image the disks and put the images on a server, and run that installer on each destination Mac.
But yes, you could just make temporary install only copies.

  • Licensing agreement for Logic studio

Having just purchased logic studio as an upgrade from Logic 7, i was looking forward to a dongle free existence for my macbook. however, whereas logic has gone on to the studio G5 without fault, when i try and launch logic on my macbook, it tells me that 'the license file will not be written as the user does not have enough priveliges'.
seeing as the license agreement states that you can put logic studio on two machines so long as they are not being used at the same time, can anyone out there enlighten me as to why i cant use logic on my macbook too without having to enetr in the details and serial number AND put my old logic 7 dongle in too?
    HELP!!!!

sorted! you need to make sure that the account your are logged into has administrator privileges. hurrah!
now i have to get a **** ilok key for everything else. will we ever be rid of bloody dongles?!!!

  • Installing Logic Studio 8/9 on my Macs

    Hi every one,
I was wondering if i can Install my original copy of Logic Studio 8 & 9 on my Macs ( 2imacs + Macbook Pro & 2 Macpro) is it ok ??
since logic doesn't have family pack
    thank you in advance

If you actually read the licensing agreement, you'll probably find that it allows you to install on one laptop and one desktop.
Before you complain about this, consider that a) Apple is selling you about $5000 of software for $500, and b) Apple DOES offer site licenses for their pro software.

  • How do I make sure my Logic Studio is legally registered to me?

My partner and I are professional Musicians and I purchased my Logic Studio from a legit store online and have registered ity accordingly with Apple over the phone, so that I know its registered to me. My partner purchased his Logic Studio from someone on Craigslist, and I told him how important it is that he make sure to register his Logic in his name with the proper support at Apple. But when he called them to register it, they told hime he needed to register it online or pay for customer service in order to register it with them. Firstly, does that sound right? Why wouldn't Apple just register it to him while they had him on the phone, wanting to do that? I don't really see how registering a product to your name is the same as paying for technical support...? Secondly, we can't find anywhere online to register it? Where on earth do you go to register logic online?
Anyone with some answers that could help with these questions would be greatly appreciated. I just want to be sure our butts are covered when we put stuff out in public domain, that its all made on software that is legally licensed to us. There were some horror stories in Music Business class in college, and neither of us want to be "THAT GUY", if you know what I mean...?
Anyway, can anyone help shed some light on these issues for me please?
    Thank you
    Sublimaze69

Apple does not require registration of software online. It's sufficient to enter the serial number at first run. This assumes the seller provided the original purchase information including the box with the serial number.

  • Recovering Logic Studio Serial After Reformat?

I just reformatted my macbook pro.  I did a clean wipe of the hard drive.  I went to reinstall logic studio and realized that I have lost the installing your software booklet that contains the serial number.  I have all the discs and other documentation, but not the one that I need.  I don't remember if I registered the software when I first installed it, but I have a feeling that I didn't.  I have looked at the information about getting a new serial number from apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1861), but I don't have the proof of purchase anymore either.  It seems like I might be out of luck.  Is there anyway to use some kind of software to recover the serial from before I reformatted the computer?  I know that you can see the serial in logic when you open it so maybe there is some way to recover the file that contains the serial?  I just reformatted yesterday and haven't installed much on the computer yet.  Any solutions that don't require expensive programs would be preferred because I don't have the money to spend on that right now (or on a new copy of logic if I can't recover the serial )

No, you can only recover it from a backup. Copy the file /Library/Application Support/ProApps/ProAppsSystemID back on the computer. This will only work, if the computer is the same. You can't use it to transfer a license to a new computer.

  • How many macs can I install Logic studio on?

Ok so i recently bought my first ever iMac.
And i installed logic studio on it, but I am considering a Mac Pro because honestly; i love my iMac but i kind of just want this imac for 'personal' things (movies, music, family photos, videos ect.)
    and I want a Mac Pro just for logic and any other PRO apps I buy later on. So i was wondering if anyone can help me with the question i have;
How many macs can I install Logic studio on?

It's in your Logic Studio license agreement:
    2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions.
    A. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on one Apple-labeled desktop computer and one Apple-labeled laptop computer so long as both computers are owned and used by you. This License does not allow the Apple Software to run on more than one computer at a time.

  • Very Strange Logic Studio Installing Problem, please help !

    Hello .
I wanted to install Logic Studio 9 on a brand new imac and somehow installation was failed .
Than i erased what ever i could which was left from the failed installation .
And now i am trying to reinstall, but this time Installation is not asking me Audio Content 1, 2 and 3
And also after Jam Pack 1, instead of continuing to 2 and 3, is asking to put install disk , and after that point installation getting failed again .
So far what i erased after failure was (only the ones i could find out of this list )
    Application Files

But what ever i tried, gives no solution . At the end a fail .
How can i wipe out all the Logic existence from my computer to make new install ?
Or, what is this problem i am having? As installation is not asking some discs which is necessary for the setup anymore .
    Did anyone experienced that ?
I will be very happy if someone can assist on me this . Since 5 hours i am trying to setup this thing .
    Thanks a lot

it is very frustrating to see such an installation problem happening from a "professional" called DAW .
I am actually a Protools user , and i have never had this type of complications .
I mean come on, i am just trying to install the thing .
On a new system, on a new computer and from an original purchase .
I believe i have enough computer knowledge to instal a simple software .
But i am spending almost 10 hours since yesterday to install Logic .
Instead of making designer boxes or giving fancy advertisements, i am inviting Apple Engineers to create proper working software .
Especially to see a professional audio software like Logic in this epic fall, is very very bad .
I mean you can say i am problematic and don't know how to instal a simple software, but than please write to google, Logic installation problems , and you will see thousands of issues .
Whatever i am writing here not against to the people who are replying and want to help , i just want Apple to read this .
Ah , i am sure Apple won't put attention on it , but doesn't matter .
You just lost 1 customer for Logic
I am erasing this thing now from my computer and continue with Protools as the way i was doing .
Sorry if i am bitter, but this is not acceptable .

  • What's the difference between Logic Studio 8 & 9?

is it me or is the ONLY difference between Logic Studio 8 & 9 the fact the LS9 can run in 64-bit mode?
I've owned Logic Studio 8 since about a year after it came out. About a year ago I got a Pro that's got Snow Leopard on it, so I installed LS8 on it. My Pro is running in 64-bit mode, but LS8 only runs in 32-bit mode, so I thought I'd "Upgrade" & buy Logic Studio 9 a couple of days ago. I just installed it yesterday & ran it for the first time today. I don't see ANY differce at all between 8 & 9 EXCEPT that Logic Pro & Main Stage both have a 64-bit mode. ALL of the synths & their presets are the same. All of the loops & jam packs look the same. Did I just pay all that $$$ just to get a 64-bit version of what I already had?
I've tried looking on this site & everything I find is about Logic Pro X. Is there anyone out there that knows enough about this to tell me for sure what the real differences are between Logic Studio 8 & 9?

Check Wikipedia - of course there are more differences:
    Logic Pro 9
On July 23, 2009, Logic Pro 9 was announced. A major new feature included "Flex Time", Apple's take on "elastic" audio, which allows audio to be quantized.[5] A version of the pedalboard from GarageBand was included, together with a new virtual guitar amplifier where the modeled components could be combined in different ways. There were also a number of improvements to audio editing, fulfilled user requests such as "bounce in place" and selective track and channel strip import, as well as an expanded content library including one more Jam Pack. Some of the bundled software, including MainStage 2 and Soundtrack Pro 3, was also improved. Logic Pro 9 is Universal Binary, although not officially supported for use on PowerPC computers.[6] SoundDiver, which had been quietly bundled with previous versions, was dropped, eliminating support for arguably the world's most popular synthesizer editor/librarian. As Apple has bundled so many software instruments with Logic, it is not likely that we'll see the return of integration with external synthesizer hardware to the Logic platform.[citation needed]
On January 12, 2010, Apple released Logic Pro 9.1, an Intel only release, thereby officially discontinuing Logic for the PowerPC platform. Logic Pro 9.1 has the option of running in 64 bit mode, which allows the application to address more memory than in the past. Says Apple "With 64-bit mode, the application memory is not limited to 4GB as with 32-bit applications, so there is essentially no practical limit by today's standards.". Third party plug-ins that are 32 bit are still compatible, but will run from a 'wrapper' inside Logic Pro itself.
On December 9, 2011, Apple announced that Logic Pro Studio 9 would no longer be available on DVD, and would only be sold via the Mac App Store. The price was reduced from $499 to $199.99 for the Logic Pro app, and $29.99 for MainStage. The download was just over 400mb, and 19gb of optional loops were available as in-app downloads.[7]

  • Dissatisfied with usability of the Portal Studio site

    Hello,
We are ramping up production and I have been tasked with developing a proof of concept for Portal. Of course, I've spent countless hours setting up 9iAS, and even trying to understand this whole 'Portal' portal product (like many others). I have devloped in J2EE, VB, VC++, and plenty of other scripting (ASP, Perl) languages.
My experience on that site has been painful at best and it doesn't really seem to be very useful for the most important documentation from a developers standpoint.
It's almost as if it's information overload and just outright confusing. (Which is a concern our company has of implementing portal to our mere mortal users :-] )
All I want to do is find good reference material for setting up Portal, using Java to develop portlets on our development 9iAS instance (NOT using Oracle's hosted 'portal studio'!!), and configuring and setting up the URL based portlets.
This has turned out to be no easy task.
FOr instance, I want to figure out how to create a URL based portlet, AND UNDERSTAND WHAT I"M DOING! This seems to be the part that is skipped. If it's sooooo easy than why is it so difficult to find good reference to what i'm doing?
So I dig around the main portal page. I see a getting started link.. *click*.
Well, I don't see anything specific to URL Providers... maybe the "How can I create portlets using my existing web applications?" is what I want. *click*
Oh, look.. it's like 3rd grade.. a slide show!>.. Cool. :-| okay.. ERRRGHHHT!... hit the brakes!.
"The PDK provides a samle XML configuration file.." ??? where is my link to more information about this magic "configuration file"???.... ahh. So I stop the silly slideshow and I want to know about this "configuration file".. *close window*
Now I'm back at the portal studio heap.
    hmm.. "Documentation" for POrtal *click*
Hmm.. after searching through this mind boggling page, there is a "Portal configuration guide" link.. sounds reasonable. *click*
so I look for "URL Provider".. or just "URL" on that page. Nothin found. bah!.. well, now I'm stumped. There is this mystery 'config' file that i've failed to quickly find information about. Strike 1.
So I use the other part of my brain (the developer side)...
There is this "HTTP Adapter" thing. Looks like part of the acclaimed "URL provider" mess. SO i read on...
blah blah blah... nothin of significant use stands out.
ah... somethin... "4.3 Registering A Provider Using The PL/SQL HTTP Adapter".. again. useless. *click * click * back *
So now I retreat back to the silly portal studio page.
Back to the task at hand... finding out the innerds of the configuration files involved in writing a "URL provider".
Looking at the available documents.. OHH LOOK! the actual documentation library is buried at the bottom of the page!.. hmm. I just read the "config guide".. "web toolkit"...?? I wonder.. *click* (grinding as Acrobat loads again)
AHhhh.. it's a "PL/SQL" web toolkit. Not imporessed. How many web developers actually know PL/SQL .. or would WANT to program logic in that query language??? or even any Java or C developers?...grr..
    *click* back *
Where is it..??>. this is about the point where I start to forget what I'm looking for.
Well, I've come to the conclusion that the "Oracle9iAS Portal Documentation Library" is a small library, as it doesn't appear to have any good reference for the details of portal use and configuration.. or at least involving the URL services.
*back*back*.. Oh, look what I found.
Near the bottom of the page ("getting started"), there is a link under ""Navigation"" that reads "URL-based: Learn how the PDK helps you build portlets in any web language."
hmm. looks promising. Maybe a little more respectable than that 3rd grade slide show.
    *click*
"BUilding URL based portlets".. Ahh presto!
Nice. opened a new browser window. (dumb)
    Okay.. I need the PDK.
    *click**download**wait*
I extract it to a warm home.
hmm.."Installing URL based Portlets".. sounds intriguing
well, it's now lunch time and I thing I found some good meat.
If you've rached this point you can probably now understand (after reading this long post) tha pain I experience.
    GOtta eat some lunch.
    -sean@Tekelec

    Sean,
I am sorry to hear that you had such problems navigating through Portal Studio to find content on URL Services. Right now Portal Studio is geared by technology, so you click on URL-Based for URL Services, Java for building Java Portlets. Hopefully all the doc will be there to help you. If not, I would be happy to point you in the right direction.
If you are looking to display web content as portlets, you should take a look at Web Clipping, it is a wizard form of URL Services where you simply use the wizard UI.
Go to Portal Studio and click on OmniPortlet and WebClipping or go here:
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=350&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO&12678_PDKHOME902_39847486.p_subid=350276&12678_PDKHOME902_39847486.p_sub_siteid=73&12678_PDKHOME902_39847486.p_edit=0
This page has demos and papers on using Web Clipping. To install Web Clipping, download the PDK and follow the instructures under the pdk/pdk/portalTools directory.
We are revamping the Portal Studio site to hopefully make navigation much easier for all users (developer and non developer).
Please let me know if you help finding other information. The feedback does help us improve the site.
    Thanks,
    Sue Vickers

  • Logic Studio quitting unexpectedly

Logic Studio quits unexpectedly after I installed steinberg cubase LE 5.
Even after deleting Cubase, Logic still quits unexpectedly.
As Logic Studio is my main app I need to make sure I can get access to it.
    Can anyone please help me.
    - Jim.

I finally got through this and wanted to share my findings:
    1. Logic install disks have a surprisingly high failure rate. Apple must know this because they are very quick to send out replacements, well before examining installation problems in any detail. Get replacements.
    2. Go through the install exactly as recommended by the install app. Then use EXSManager to put the samples where you want them. Works great and worth the extra dough.
    3. Pray that Apple buys/licenses EXSManager as a bundled utility so that we don't have to buy a commercial product that does what any pro audio app or sampler should do to begin with.
