Logic "Analyzing..." issue

I have been getting annoyed with Logic lately. My productivity in sessions has been negatively affected with Logic "Analyzing..." my tracks after every take. Depending on the length of the take the process can take up to 20 seconds or so per track... with 10 tracks of drums this can start to add up..
This issue has only come to surface in the past couple of months and I'm curious to know what has changed. Here is a list of things I have done to adjust my setup recently that may have caused my issue.
1) I updated my tracking template in Logic Pro 9 for creating separate headphone mixes (one for the control room the other for the tracking room); Here I added a number of plugins into my template; waves, drumagog, guitar rig, channel strip presets, etc; I've also noticed a number of items are turned off when "low latency mode" is turned on. Ive tried deleting all channel strip plugins and the issue still occurs.
2) I purchased a new interface (Presonus Firestudio Tube - switching from a Motu8Pre)
Here is a list of my current gear and software:
Computer - Macbook Pro 2.2 Core2Duo; OSX 10.6.7; 4gb ram; 320gb hd;
Software - Logic Pro 9.1.3; Drumagog 5; Reason 3; Waves plugin bundle;
Preamps - Presonus Firestudio Tube; Motu8pre; Art Voice Channel
Misc - Presonus Monitor Station, Presonus Faderport; KRK Rokit's
Does anyone know why this is happening? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you for the reply. I went back through the audio preferences for my template and a few recent projects and all are set to sample rate of 44.1kHz.
I may simply need to reload my Macbook Pro and applications...I just dread this because it will take me probably a good 3 days to get my data transferred and applications configured... plus there is always the possibility that my issue would not be resolved.
I would try a few things before such drastic action:
1) Does the same problem occur if you start from the factory 'Empty" template (ie is this problem your template)?
2) Quit Logic. Go to <user>:Library:Preferences and move the Logic preferences file to the desktop (com.apple.logic.pro.plist). Restart Logic.
There are more things to check...

  • Capturing Logic Analyzer Waveforms on Agilent MSO-3054A

I am having an issue with capturing the Logic Analyzer waveforms on an Agilent MSO-3054A scope.
I am using the Agilent 2000 3000 X-Series LabVIEW VIs (see the attached block diagram).  The problem arises when the program hits the Fetch Waveform.vi.  I get the following error...
Error -1073807339 occurred at VISA Read; VISA:  (Hex 0xBFFF0015) Timeout expired before operation completed.
I do not get this error when I use the analog channels (using the appropriate VIs).  Everything works as I want and all four channels are displayed on the graph.  I have searched the internet high and low for a solution but cannot find one and need some assistance.
    Please advise.

I was able to research some information on the error that you provided and found a potential culprit for the issue.  Inside the “Fetch Waveform.vi” there may be a VISA read being performed with the default value set for the time out. As this is a logic analyzer measurement with presumably high channel count, the data may not have enough time to be fully transferred to the computer. Try following the steps in this knowledge base article and see if that helps.

  • Newbie: Logic Analyzer Vi?

I have several digital signals that I want to figure out the timing how they relate to each other and was wondering if Labview has some sort of logic analyzer function?
I want the clock on the top and the signals, A,B,C down the side and the levels 0 or 1.
Anyone point me in the right direction?

I do this all of the time with OPC server data and the DSC module. I just read the values in as boolean. Convert them to digital waveform and stream them on a waveform graph that resets itself to zero after so many scans. Since I'm using the DSC module, Citadel stores the values in a historical database. I let the real time data scroll in the background and read the historical data for the time period that I want to see. But I'm only looking at 50 or 100ms resolution with this approach. These are 7.0 format files. I use this to catch timing issues with the sequences of our machines. We use a logic format that is scan dependent and at times you can't see what is happening inside the programming software.

  • How to use a counter to build a Logic Analyzer?

Hi guys, i have heard that we can use a counter as a Logic Analyzer based on an incoming signal and its clock frequency. Anyone know how this works?
I am trying to read a set of signals, which I have no knowledge of  except that there would a Clock, reset and a data line; and I want to develop a Logic Analyzer to 'know' these signals.
    Thanks, Anoop
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Lynn,
I have a PXI-7813R, which along with its FPGA is sufficient I believe for this purpose.
How many digital signals do you need to examine simultaneously?
Well, I am not sure, but based on the signals generated by similar devices, I would guess between 4 and 6. I expect there to be a Clk, Rst, Data and some other signals.
    What is the maximum frequency?
I have no idea or how to even come up with a guess on this one.
What is the maximum and minimum number of samples per signal that you need to capture?
Again, not a clue. Would it not depend on the Clk frequency?
Are any of the signals ever in a high impedance (tri-state) mode?
    Again, don't know, sorry.
Is the minimum pulse width for non-clock signals the clock period, half the clock period, or something else?
    Sorry again.
How would you go about in this situation?

  • Logic Analyzer output of 7445N BCD-to-Decimal

    Hello All,
I am testing the output of a 7445N BCD-to-Decimal decoder with the use of Multisim 10 word generator and the logic analyzer.  I have the inputs of the 7445N connected to the word generator counting up from 0 to 9 binary.  The first four inputs of the logic analyzer are connected to the inputs of the 7445N as well.  I can see the correct pattern of binary number being generated by the word generator at the logic analyzer. However, the logic analyzer connections to the output of the 7445N shows flat lines.  I don't see the binary numbers generated.  I connected logic probes to the output of the 7445N, and a binary pattern is shown.  If I connect a single line from the logic analyzer to the output of the 7445N, then I can see the logic low and high for that particular pin.  But again, if I connect more than one line from the logic analyzer to the 7445N, it goes back to a flat line.  Has anyone seen this before?  Is there a specific method to test this particular IC output with the logic analyzer?   Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Arnie

I will do you even better. I will post the complete MS10 file for you to look at. All the settings of the simulator are defaulted. I thought I would let you know that so you wouldn't think I fiddled with the settings to make it work.

  • Does there have a Logic Analyzer.vi for PCI-DIO-96??

I have read the manual of PCI-DIO-96 from your Web. I find that there is a Logic Analyzer.vi which is different from 32HS logic Analyzer. It is on Page 375 of the manual.Where can I get it??

    Hello,
I'm not sure I understand what it was that you found in the PCI-DIO-96 user manual. Also, which version of the manual? You might just post a web url for it. I'm also not sure I am aware of such a program for the PCI-DIO-96. The PCI-DIO-96 is probably not capable of being a very good logic analyzer. The reason is because it supports handshake transfers rather than clocked inputs. This means that unless the external device is monitoring the OBF or ACK handshaking lines, you might miss datapoints.

  • I am looking labview driver for Tektronix TLA704 logic analyzer

I need this labview driver desperately, I am very appreciated if you have it and courtesy me a copy.
    Thanks

I did some looking around on the Tektronix web site.
Tek does not seem all that interested in supporting the
TLA704 in particular, or LabView(tm) for logic analyzers
at all. IMHO the Tek site sucks when you need to find
    information in depth.
I looked through National Instruments site too. Now on this
site it was easy to find what I was looking for. Good job.
Developing a LabVIEW instrument driver for a logic analyzer
looks to be a non-trivial task for anything more involved than
starting a capture and waiting for the data to log. Depending
on the driver it could be real slow getting a load of data from
    the logic analyzer.
It might be better to use the TLA programmatic interface
(TPI) to run the TLA704 by remote control over the Ethernet.
All the support for this comes with the analyzer software.
Though it's really painful to get it setup in Windows 98.
This way you could create a Windows program that runs
on your workstation to connect to the TLA704, set it up,
start a run, and download the data. Once the data is in
your workstation you can reformat for use by LabView.
I don't know that this would be easier than making a
LabVIEW instrument driver for a logic analyzer, but
at least all the software exists right now to control
    the TLA704 remotely.
    Charles.
I don't work for National Instruments,
or Tektronix or use LabView. But I use
    logic analyzers way too much.

  • Logic Analyzer vi?

    Hi guys,
I want to analyze the logic behind a number of digital lined being fed into my PC. Is there any sample Logic Analyzer vi which I can make use of to figure out these signals?
I am using the PXI-7813R or specifically its FPGA to develope the program.
    Thanks

    Hi Chris,
    Thanks for the reply.
I want to feed in a number of seperate digital signals (betweem 4 and 6 seperate lines) from a device that has no controller in it. It is in effect a "dumb" chip that has a memory.
I plan to connect the data through a SCB-68 connector, through the PXI and then to the PC through the MXI card within the PXI.
So far, no, I have not connected any external device. Interestingly, I had to change my plans from the original project I was working with becasue I couldnt read the data from an external device. In the original project, the external device is a smart printer that I have been using to read in the signals from the inkjet cartridges connected to the printer. But thats another project, if you need more info on either, let me know.

  • Logic analyzer using usb 6009

i am having 4 LEDs which are flashing in sequence to the decade counter. i want to observe the flashing sequence of these LEDs on LabVIEW using usb6009 such as 0000, 0001, 0010, 0011 and so on...
how can i view them on a digital waveform graph...making it a simple logic analyzer... please help..

First, the USB-6009 is not very suitable for a logic analyzer because it only has software timed digital inputs. So you are limited to how fast you can acquire the data and  the timing between successive samples will have significant jitter.
Within those limitations you can somewhat demonstrate the concept of a logic analyzer with the USB-6009 for slow signals. If the flashing sequence of the LEDs is slow enough to be perceptible to the human eye/brain, then you can probably get something like what you want.
Start by looking at the DAQ examples to see if there is one which is close to what you need. Find the best example, copy it to a new name and then modify the copy as needed.
If you want better timing accuracy and resolution, consider using analog inputs. They are hardware timed. With four channels you could probably get 10 kHz or slightly more.

  • Logic 9 Issue Triggering Wrong 3rd Party Samples

I know the question says 3rd party but bear with me because I have ruled out issues with the 3rd party libraries and players. This is my Issue:
So far no one from 8dio, Native Instruments, or Apple can fix this and I am completely out of ideas.
I recently picked up a 2010 8-core Mac Pro and have had this problem ever since. The issue is only with my 8dio Adagio strings (most of them), it will either play the wrong sample, or no sample at all. I don't get any error messages though. All my other Kontakt libraries work fine.
Example: Bass "Shorts" will play "feather stacc", "marcato", but not "stacc" or "pizz". Violas will produce sound however it plays the exact same sample which ever articulation I select, but it will only play for a second then cut out, no sustained notes. This sort of issue is true for pretty much all of the strings. I have ruled out many things including:
    1. Its not the 8dio strings libraries or Kontakt because they work fine in standalone mode through Kontakt, its only when I try to open them through Logic that I get the issue.
    2. I did a fresh install of Logic and Kontakt and still the same issue, however when I installed the exact same configuration on a friend's laptop, they worked fine through Logic.
    3. The strings did work fine on my old iMac until I dragged over and opened a session from the new computer, now I get the same issue there. The only way I can get it to work on the iMac is to open an old session which already has Kontakt and strings loaded up, otherwise a new project or new instance of Kontakt results in the same issue. This points to a settings or preference issue with Logic, however a fresh install and/or deleting the "preferences" file should fix it right? Wrong.
    4. I have tried 3 different operating systems (Mavricks, Mountain Lion, and Lion), 2 different main drives, a SSD and a regular drive. I've tried a fresh install of everything multiple times, different user accounts, redownloading Adagio, running the libraries from both internal and external HDs....
After ruling everything else out it still seems like a problem with Logic other than the fact that the fresh install works fine on my friend's laptop but not my new Mac Pro (both running Mountain Lion). Any ideas would be much appreciated cause I'm all out of them. Thank you.

  • Physical vs Logical length issues

I am importing a fixed field flat file, and the file has a line with a special character in it. The datastore column in question is set to have a physical and logical length of 40 but ODI is erroring out saying the actual value is 41 characters. If I increase the logical length to 41 characters, but leave physical alone, the interface successfully loads the file to my relational destination.
Have I introduced any potential issues down the line by having my logical length greater than my physical length?

I think you changed the physical to 41 and leaving the logical to be 40.
I dont think you will cause any issues down the lane.
This concept is very valid in situations where you would have multi-byte characters which will physically take more bytes to load even though the logical length is less

  • Logical Standby Issue

    Hi Friends,
I have 4 doubts. Please help me to clear my confusion.
    Doubt 1:-
I have one primary and one logical standby database. When i restart the primary database or logical standby database or whenever data is not transffering to standby database, I execute the package "EXECUTE DBMS_LOGSTDBY.BUILD;". Then it starts to transfer the data to standby. My question is executing this package many times will affect the primary database? or my configuration is wrong?
    Doubt 2:-
I configured DGMGRL for both database and i can switch over and switch back to logical standby database. It automatically start to apply the data to new logical standby database. But when i switch back to old primary database, It didnt transfer the data automatically. So i execute the package "EXECUTE DBMS_LOGSTDBY.BUILD;" in primary. Then it starts to transfer the data. My question is my switchback is wrong? or it happens like that only?
Note:- I check the verbose of both database before switchback. It show success.
    Doubt 3:-
When i check the switchover status in logical standby database, It show "NOT ALLOWED". Even though i can switch over by using dgmgrl. Why logical standby database showing "NOT ALLOWED"?
    Doubt 4:-
Is it any possible to view that what commands executing by dgmgrl process in background while it switchovering to logical standby database.?
Because when i try to switchover manually it didnt work. Many times i tried. But in dgmgrl, I simply give "switchover to logdb;", It works.
Please help to me to understand clearly.
    Thank you in advance.

Wrong forum mate. This forum deals with SQL and PL/SQL languages and related issues - not database administration and configuration issues.
The shared memory error is not unusual though ito SQL and PL/SQL. It is often a result of not using sharable SQL - in other words, SQL statements that are not using bind variables.
This causes additional consumption and fragmentation of shared pool memory. The very worse thing to do in this case would be to increase the size of the shared pool. That is akin to moving the wall a bit further away so that one can run even faster and harder into it.
But I'm merely speculating as you may have another cause for this problem. I suggest that you:

  • SolMan / BW Logical System Issue

Hello all, I am having a SolMan/BW related issue and would really appreciate some advice. I realize some of this is for the BW forums and will cross post (I normally dont)
    ENVIRONMENT
New installation of Solution Manager EhP1 (19). System name is ED0. We are running Windows / MS SQL
System is only for Solution Manager ops (client 001), and CUA master (client 950).
    BACKGROUND
We want to use full SolMan capabilities. This seems to include some limited BW interaction. We do not use BW in the landscape, so will rely on the "internal" BW in SolMan.
During installation, our person made a new client (000 > 400), set it as default (login/system_client), then ran tc:RSA1 and activated the content. (This sets the client)
Client 400 HAS NOT BEEN USED FOR ANYTHING other than the initial installation, and subsequent activation of BW. It has no connections to other systems, no data, cubes, or anything
    PROBLEM
We were NOT AWARE that he had ran RSA1 and activated content, and began using client ED0_001 as our PRODUCTION SolMan client.
We are now unable to run RSA1 in anything but client 400.
We are unable to change the client 001 logical system name because Solution Manager has been built around it.
    TROUBLESHOOTING
We changed table RSADMINA / field BWMANDT to 001 from 400. This changed the error from "You can only run in client 400" to "The logical system name has changed" (exit only)
In sandbox I duplicated this problem, then deleted the 400 client (with T000 entry). Changed the login/system_client to 001, RSDAMINA to 001, and ran function module RS_MANDT_UNIQUE_SET (set i_mandt to 001). After restart, RSA1 gives same error, logical system name changed"
On same sandbox after #2 above I attempted tc: BDLS to see if it would let me assign an exisiting logical system. It did not
    QUESTIONS
Will it have any impact on Solution Manager operations to have the "BW Client" on ED0_400 while Solution Manager production is on ED0_001?
Is it possible to change the BW operating client to 001 from 400? (said another way, can I change the current logical systems BW is keyed with to a different, but existing, logical system)
Assuming the answer to Q1 is yes, and the answer to Q2 is no, what steps need to be performed to make BW fulfill the SolMan requirements?

Updated Information - Answer to Question #1
I am embarrased I missed this section in the master guide the first time around.
There are three major options to consider when planning your system landscape in regards to BI.
BI in the Productive SAP Solution Manager Client
In this scenario, BI is used in the same productive client as SAP Solution Manager. This option allowsfor simpler configuration, and isolates the BI activities conducted for solution life cycle management from the data on a production BI instance. This is SAPu2019s recommendation.
BI in a Separate Client on SAP Solution Manager
In this scenario, BI activities are conducted in a separate client on the SAP Solution Manager system. This scenario provides increased security, as user access is more restricted. However, you must maintain users separately and this increased your administration effort. There is no technical benefit.
BI in a Separate, Non-Productive BI System
In this scenario, the BI activities are conducted in a separate, nonproductive BI system in the landscape. Data is sent to this system from the SAP Solution Manager system via RFC. This is only needed in rare cases for sizing purposes.
I will leave the question unanswered in case someone has an easy rememdy to changing the BI client logical system, as I would like to have it in my productive client if possible.  However I am relieved I have the option of running it separately in case that can't be done.

    Hi All,
I have a proxy client having a logical port (configured using  NWDS)  to consume a web service in the provider system.
In the logical port, I have given target address, and logical port name. While moving this client proxy NWDI dev track to Q and prod,
how do I change this target address to point to Q and prod respectively. In other words, even though I am using Visual admin to configure the destination url for the logical port, to point to Q and prod, its still referring to the dev environment provider service after moving the proxy client to Q and prod. • Help needed urgently with two major Logic 9 issues

    Dear all,
We've recently migrated from Logic 7 to 9 and have a major album project to finish using a fairly modest tracking setup. We've encountered two major issues that are holding up progress and wondered if anyone here has experienced them and has a solution..?
Our set up is an early 2009 2.93GHz 17" unibody Macbook Pro with a Motu 828mkII Firewire interface. We also have a motu microlite for extra midi.
Firstly, we're trying to track drums from an Elektron MachineDrum. With Logic 7 the MachineDrum's transport controls would control Logic's transport automatically so that we had a clear sync when tracking and could edit sounds and patterns on plus control Logic's transport from the MachineDrum. It also meant that we could drop in parts from song based sequences (of multiple patterns) in the correct position as song pointer information was also received. In the midi synch settings it would automayically jump to "midi clock". In Logic 9 it seems the Midi clock option is gone entirely.
We've also tried with an Elektron MonoMachine and have exactly the same problem. This all worked automatically in Logic 7. These machines have excellent sequencers and are very hands on so it makes it preferable to do it this way. We've spent the afternoon trying to replicate the behaviour of Logic 7 with no joy at all. I should say that Logic is receiving midi information but is not responding to the transport controls. Has this midi clock feature been removed entirely..? It will be a huge disappointment if this vital functionality has been removed as it's crucial to the way we write, sequence and record.
    Does anyone have a solution..?
Secondly, there seems to be a major bug with Logic 9 and we frequently have to quit and reboot to overcome it. Namely, certain actions reduce the audio to metal machine noise/ digital breakup bearing no resemblance to what we've recorded. This includes opening two projects simultaneously, dragging any audio from the media bin to the arrange, editing a marker in the list window etc. This has happened about twenty times today doing some light work on a project. We also noticed this intermittently when doing some vocal tracking on Logic 8 at a friends studio.
Has anyone else experienced this? It's a nightmare and means we won't be able to use it reliably live either. Does anyone have a solution?
Many thanks for taking the time to consider this,
    JH

Having tried to sync Logic to my LinnDrum back in Logic 7, I can see why they removed it.
It was hideously catastrophic and caused me ages of grief, as the function only really makes sense for MIDI/trigger sequencing.
As I remember it works perfectly well with MIDI only, which is what it was designed for. I've synced Logic via MIDI from a second computer for 20-30 minutes with absolutely no sync problems or drift.
    yes, that worked fine.
But then turning around and trying to sync +something else+ to that recording.
Logic never could record tempo variation as a continuous stream, as an analogue tape machine would record a sync signal, so the stepping would inevitably lead to increasing loss of sync, loss of hair, and the desire to break things.
I eventually just set aside that function, with the intention if revisiting in a later, hopefully fixed, version.
And whaddaya know - they fixed it good.
