Logic and Miroslav Philharmonik Issue
Hi folks,
I recently started using Philharmonik and have been having a little bit of trouble. I'm not sure where the issue lies.
Basically, I have an instance of Philharmonik setup with 4 patches across 4 different midi channels. That way I don't load an instance of Philharmonik for each instrument. What started happening though, is that some of the patches stop playing. I can see that they're being triggered, but no sound comes out.
I have been using Philharmonik on a multi-out with each channel playing out of a different aux strip in the mixer.
Three out of four patches will play fine, but one of the three needs to be reloaded frequently to work.
Initially I was worried I was setting up each patch with too high a polyphony setting (though I don't know if that matters) so I lowered it to closely match the highest number of notes that might be triggered simultaneously for each patch. It didn't change the fact that sometimes, one of the patches just won't play.
I'm not sure I described the issue well enough.
The setup is a an old Mac Pro (Quad 2.66) with 6GB of ram on Logic 9.1 and 10.5.8. I don't have any hiccup or sound issues and my ram isn't maxed out with the project in question. In fact, the total RAM allocation of the patches from Philharmonik is under 200MB.

I thought I would say hi b/c I too use Logic and Miroslav. I've been looking around for people who are using these programs together in case anybody has general tips about setting up a decent "virtual orchestra"
More specifically, I'm wondering if you know anything about Rewire and Notion SLE. I'm a bit lost.

When I play the keys, every now and then the note off command does not seem to work and I'll hit a note and it will stay sustained, stuck as if. I cannot turn it off. Yes... but I have come across some setups that came with a native SL (and even one Lion!) installation.. that somehow had a corrupted or older Prokit installed for some unknown reason... and given it's a quick fix to try.. I thought I'd mention it..
I frankly don't think it is entirely a Prokit issue itself, but it wouldn't do any harm to try and install v7 just in case it is part of the problem...
+1 on the UAD stuff....
Also, at the time it crashed... according to the logs...the OP was running Ableton Live at the same time, presumably rewired with Logic... so add all that together with UAD plugins... and that's quite a load on the system...
Finally in thread 32 there is a weird exception msg relating to the Trash2 plugin.. that I haven't seen before...

Logic and audio interface issues. help!
Hey guys
I recently bought a small budget recording studio, My first one so bare with the newbie questions and I'm having diffucties with the setup I believe.
I connected my midi keyboard to my computer that had Midi in/out from the keyboard via USB Midi interface to the computer. That was all cool. The computer was seeing it and in Logic was telling me signals were coming into logic.
I then connected my Edirol audio interface ( FA-66 ) 6in/6out. to the computer via Firewire. Midi setup in utlilities sees the device. And that's good right?
I then used stereo jacks to connect the audio interface to my studio monitors. I played a song in itunes music is coming through the speakers, great!
Now off to the problem, finally. The reason I got the audio capture device is so that I can record Vocals and guitars, but the thing is when I connect my Mic and guitar to the device no sound in coming into logic, eventhough I can play the guitar clean through my monitor speakers. Very strange. I see 6 input/output channels in logic so it sees the edirol. So if i set Input 2 in logic and put the guitar in inputjack 2 the signal doesn't get through.
Am I supposed to intertwine the Midi keyboard and audio interface together? If so how is that done? Can anybody help?

Logic Pro->Preferences->Audio Units Manager
Locate your plug-in.
If the "Logic" column isn't checked, click on it twice.
A second window will pop-up and display the scanning status.
If it failed, you'll need to copy and paste that text and go to IK Multimedia and submit a ticket there.
I have several IK Multimedia plug-ins. I had some issues put it turns out that I didn't get the latest versions for running on 10.5.7
Are you sure you have the latest software for Miroslav Philharmonik? -
Got Logic Today and having major issues!
When I type on the virtual keyboard, it makes no noise at all, and it won't import my Garage Band files as I get told they are not Logic files! Please Help as I am very annoyed with these issues.

Sounds like you are getting frustrated...sorry.
Couple of Questions:
Are both GB and Logic, and thier related files on the same drive?
Have you tried dragging and dropping a GB file onto the Logic icon to open it?
Might also try opening both GB and Logic at the same time. See if you can drag a track from GB into an empty logic project. -
Miroslav Philharmonik - how to load?

Do anyone use Miroslav Philharmonik together with LP 8?
I try to get connection, to load in to Logic but without success.
The Audio Units Manager has validated Philharmonik, it is checked by Logic, but not with Nodes (not possible to check). Is there any problem?
If you know how to do it, I will be very thankfull..
eI use Miroslav plug-ins with my logic 8 and they are working nicely, so I would say somewhere the app may not be installed correctly. Are you opening the insert on a audio INSTRUMENT track and seeing the plug ins there? If not, somehow logic is not seeing MP application. I have always asked their tech support(IK) and got answers to get up and running.. they are good about helping. Not being a real "techy" myself I would give them a try, or maybe someone else on this forum has got a good idea. Sorry I am not more helpful,but my Miroslav Philharmonik is working good.....so keep at it, someone can get you going!

i have a serious (and bizarre!) issue with my novation impulse (Although i've tried it with two other keyboards and i still have the same problem) and its compatibility with mainstage 3.

(Clearly i'm not alone in this problem, although i think i figured out what's going wrong a little more than he did...read on!)
his solution, to put mainstage in jump mode, is very unsatisfactory to me, as it bounces all of a sudden to drastically different settings.
basically, my analysis is that my controller is NOT receiving MIDI date from mainstage. in other words, mainstage knows what my controller is doing, but my controller doens't know what mainstage is doing.
let's say i turn the knob all the way to the right ... 127...and the virtual fader goes to the right like it's supposed to.
now...next...let's say i change to a different patch, where that same VIRTUAL fader is not at the max clockwise position..maybe it's only at 1pm. now when i turn the physical knob to the RIGHT, the midi data is still at 127 on the controller! it didn't "reset" to sync up with the new level (say 80 or so) setting on the new patch. so i can't increase that new setting of 80 by continuing to turn the knob to the right. i have to turn it all the way to zero,...and then continue PAST zero until the controller thinks that IT is at 0...at that point the controller and mainstage are in agreement, and things work fine....so bascially, the keyboard thinks the level is at max...but mainstage thinks the level is at 1pm.

I am having a number of issues including loss of import functionality from scanner, I can't drag and drop photos into the editor any more as well, or at least not after the first one. The crop function stops working after the first couple of photos. Then some freezing. A little added crashing. A plethora of other bizarre issues as well. This just stated happening a couple of days ago.
What I have tried:
Uninstall/Install.
Deleted preferences both before opening Editor (crontrol-alt-delete) and after opening it.

OK! Check it, like I said in previous posts I seemed to have narrowed it down to specific mp3s not converting and playing in their native sample rate which if paired with another sample would give you the "audio midi sync" error and basically screw up your clock! It appears mp3 files converting to mp3 using iTunes would not convert to the correct sample rate if set to something other than 44 in logic and cause this. A tad peculiar Apple iTunes won't work with Apple Logic. I was able to confirm this on two mac's via my friend in Florida. He's running Tiger and tried the same experiment and Booya! Mickey Mouse! It appears this insane week long adventure has came to an end (...god willing) with a super specific unlucky shot in the dark on my part finally revealed to be an perfectly normal function of Logic (obviously one i'm not fond of..) As far as the errors / crashes / system overloads / kernal panics I think I can sort those out to the mackie onyx satellite not being a good choice and trying to add and remove firewire devices in the middle of the sample rate mayhem. Wow! all I can say is, I'm glad it's over

I think some data dictionary script like catpatch.sql need to be run to resolve this issue but i didn't try it.

ThnxHere i face another issue relates to transporting tablespace.
I moved the datafiles from source db to target database (AIX 5.3 ->Windows 2003)

IIF, BITAND & Logical AND in SSRS Expressions
I have had some interesting times using IIF to display "X" when a bit is a word is true and "" when it is not. I THINK I understand it all now but would appreciate comments from anyone else to confirm that my understanding
is correct.
I was using, for example, the integer 8 as a bit mask to test for bit 3. In most programming language that I am familiar with, to test whether bit 3 is set in an integer X the test is "X and 8 = 8", looking for this to
be true.
In SSRS I tried =iif(x AND 8 = 8,"X","")
but this always returned true. I then tried =iif((x AND 8) = 8,"X","") and that seemed to work as expected.
My conclusion is that "AND" can be interpreted as either a
Bitwise AND or a Logical AND depending on the context. In the first case I assume that "X" was evaluating as TRUE as was "8 = 8" so the result was always true. In the second case I had forced a
Bitwise AND by using brackets to indicate precedence and got the result that I expected.
This brings be to a second point. I have the impression that when presented with a numeric result (rather than 1/0 or TRUE/FALSE) IIF interprets 0 as false and any value greater than 0 as true.
I say this because iif(x and 8, "X", "")
also seemed to work even though the result should be either 8 if bit 3 not set and 0 if it is not.
This is an example of and Excel function that does the same thing.

Template UI Logic and backingbean
Hi,
I'm new to adf and i'm trying to build a sample project with jDevelopper 11.1.2.1.0 for my company to know if we can switch to it.
I've go a use case to implement but i've got some issues to understand how i can do it.
I must create a view with :
1) a top zone with a toolbar (and other stuff)
2) a center zone with a panel tabbed
2.a) In the first tab, a bounded table with some columns
2.b) In the second tab a splitter
2.b.i ) In the first facet of the splitter a second bounded table with some other columns (but linked to the same iterator)
2.b.ii) In the second facet of the splitter a form (to edit the data)
3) a bottom zone with a statut toolbar.
I've created my toolbar with a declarative component following the adf corner [079. Strategy for implementing global buttons in a page template|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/79-global-template-button-strategy-360139.pdf], my toolbar have 5 buttons (create, edit, save, cancel and delete).
I then created a template for placing panel, and table splitter ui components with a backingbean used for binding the ui components (in backingbean scope, its' important cause the template could be on the same page with nested template tag)
I've created a taskflow following the adf corner [007.How to cancel an edit form, undoing changes with ADFm savepoints|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/007-cancelform-savepoint-169126.pdf] for the edit form
I created a page that inherits my template, placed the declarative component toolbar at the top, placed the two bounded datatable in the facets of the template, and finally created a normal region calling the taskflow.
When i click on the create button, the template backing bean receive the "event" and handle it, changing a task flow parameter.... (updating the region)
My taskflow update and show me the create form... no problem....
But if the user is on the first tab, he sees nothing. So i would like to change the disclosed property of the showDetailItems of the panelTabbed.
I then created a variable in the pageDef of the template that would store a boolean value if the page is in EditMode or not. (create and edit is edit mode. save, cancel and delete is not)
I created a contextual event to listen when that variable change, like that a datacontrol from a bean with a single public method could handle that change :

When the onIsEditModeChanged method is called the backingbean of the template doesn't exist in the context.
So adf create a new instance of it but doesn't fill the ui component references of the page so i can't change the properties cause i get a NPE.
of course showDetail2 and showDetail1 have their binding property set :

So here's my questions :
1) Why there is a difference when my button is on the template and when it's on the page ??? (with the backingbean)
2) Why the backingbean is not fully created (only the constructor is called and not the ui components bindings)
3) How can i realise my use case ?
4) Is there another method to implement UI Logic with template ?
5) Is there a better way to do this ?
6) How to get the context of the template ?

but i didn't know how to explain my problem without all thoses explanations.
I've read all the adf corner and all the given pdf books on the site (that i've found) trying to search for a solution and
didn't find one. So please don't tell me read the books, or the solution is already documented...
It would be a lot more helpfull to explain me why it's not working or why what a did is not a good solution.

Another solution that i've found is that i could create an hidden button on the template
that call the change event and in the page create a button that queue a click event
on that button but for me it's not a solution.

I dont like a JavaScript solution neither. for me, if a can bind my ui components to a backingbean
i want to be able to use them !!!

There will not any performance issue as such as all the code will be executed by the same Dialog workprocess in the application server.
But it is alwys good to keep you flow logic and application logic seperated, so flow logic just calls the methods and the methods are in a different component like a static method of a class or function module in a function group.
Best thing is Function Group as you can have screens in a Function pool.

GRC Access Control 5.3 Organizational Levels - logical AND - OR changed

We are working with Access Control 5.3 SP 12 and we are setting up organization levels for the risk analysis.
The setup is loaded with a flat file, and the configurations seems to be loaded in the right way.
Doing the configuration on the RAR portal, openning the tab "rule architect" then "organization rules" and "create", we have this information:

Why is it happening? This effect doesnt happen if i made an upload from a ftlat file of organizational rules.
We already tryed this symptom doing the same exercise with RAR SP 14 with the same issue.

Creating Logic and modeling for SAP BW datasource in SAP HANA views and SLT
Hi to all,
I have small question.
We have BW system and SAP ECC as source system and to get data from SAP ECC source system we are using SAP ECC Standard data source.
Now we required to, create modeling in SAP HANA by use of HANA View and get data from SAP ECC source table via SLT.
So we can replicate same modeling,as we done in SAP BW system.
But my question is that, as SAP ECC standard data source hit multiple table and do run-time calculation, before sending to SAP BI.
How we can derives such calculation and logic, in our HANA studio, because as we know in SLT data transformation can be done in limited way also
in view we can not drive such logic via SQL script ?.
Is there any way we can do such modeling and logic in SAP HANA ?
or
is there any standard document for this type of case, which we can use ?
Note: We don't want to use SAP DS or DXC for data loading to HANA, as we want it in more real time.

As SLT is based on ABAP, so we can write complex logic in it.
But if we talk about SAP ECC standard data source, they have complex logic, based on multiple table.
So we need to write code from scratch in SLT to derive same result. but it will be huge time consuming , and required good ABAP skills, also it will lead to bug in code.
Also it will reduce the real time performance of SLT, due to complex logic.
Second option is procedure via SQL script, which is again huge effort in term if logic and can lead to error/bug in logic.
Does we have any other way or architecture to do this is very simple way, with high performance and less error issue.

Syncing Logic and multitrack tape using smpte/mtc

Has anyone managed to sync Logic to multitrack tape using smpte/mtc without major drift ? If you've tried this, let me know your experience.
Many thanks.Never had a problem with wow and flutter - but I guess it depends on how good the tape machine is. I use a Studer A827, so it's not been an issue for me. I just use striped tape, usually at 15 ips, to record the basic tracks, and transfer a reference mix to PT and/or Logic, and transfer those files to Logic and carry on with overdubs, and only use the 24 track tapes again when it's time to mix. I'm not doing anything complex like sound to picture, or chasing the tape in the rest of the recording, so there may be issues lurking which I don't encounter.

Spinning beach ball when quitting Logic and loading projects
Hello,
Whenever I load a Logic project I get the spinning beach ball. After a while, the project is loaded and it all works, but it is taken way too long to load the plugins. I'm not even talking about big projects, and I have an SSD, so it should be much faster.
The same happens when I quit Logic. Not when I close the project, but when I actually quit Logic. The "Logic Pro" menu in the top left corner of the menu bar in OS X would light up in dark blue when I press CMD + Q, and it would stay like this for 30 seconds or so. The spinning beach ball would appear again during this time. Then it would finally quit.
I have reinstalled OS X and reinstalled Logic Pro X. But the problem was still there. It sounds like a core audio problem, but the problem occurs no matter what my sound output is set to. It happened when the audio output was set to the built-in speakers of my Mac Pro (yes Mac Pro have that!), when it was set to the speakers of the Cinema Display (LED one) and when it was set to my RME Babyface.
I don't think it's a Driver problem because it happened as well when I reinstalled OS X and Logic, and when I tested it on the Macs/Cinema Displays speakers, without the RME Babyface, basically without having installed any drivers or anything yet. So everything was fresh and untouched.
This is a very weird issue. I'm wondering if someone knows what I could do next.

Like I said, this is a complete fresh install – I installed OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 from a USB installer, and re-downloaded Logic Pro X from the App Store. That's all. That means there's no 3rd party plugins, no 3rd party drivers, nothing, just the stock OS X system.
However, I just installed the RME Babyface drivers. But this makes no difference, as the problem was present before as well. I'm just saying that, because it appears in my EtreCheck Report which I will post an the end of this message, so you may be wondering.
I tried to delete the preference files and such before – no change.
Logic started normally (= no message or appeared or anything) while holding down Shift + Control, and also while holding down the Option key. The issue is still there. What would or what should it do if I hold these keys while starting? When I hold only the Control key however, it asked me if I wanted to start Logic without the Core Audio. I clicked to start without it, and then obviously everything worked.
So here's my EtreCheck report. Everything looks normal I'd say?

I believed this was normal because my audio output was set to the external USB audio interface when I ran the test, but I ran it again with the sound output set to the Cinema Display, and this message still appeared. When I click the Information symbol, it says:

I can't tell if there's a link to my Logic problem, however.
PS: I just remembered that I installed a system update for the LED Cinema Display which I downloaded from the Apple Support page. Maybe it has to do with that. It may have been an old update that was not needed.
