Logic Crashes When I make a global Cut??

Anyone had this happen?
LOgic Crashes when i try and make a glbal arrange cut.

Logic crashes when I open a particular file...
As the old joke goes...
"Well, don't open it then..."
The first things to do is make some backups of what you have, just in case. Then try booting Logic without the audio drivers (or turn them off) and see if you can load the song.
Also, try deactivating your third-party plugs (a snap with AUManager, or move them temporarily out of your components folder), and seeing whether it will load then.
I would guess that the song is corrupted, so once you can get it to load, I would suggest you start copying all the necessary stuff (regions, automation, channel settings etc etc) into a new, uncorrupted song.
Also, you can try and go back through your auto-numbered backup files, assuming you have the function turned on - you might be able to open a version of the song before the corruption. And if you didn't have that autobackup feature turned on - well, I suggest you do from now on!
If you get no joy doing all that, post back and we'll go from there.

  • Logic crashing when importing OMF from Final Cut

Greetings, an editor of a 20 minute short film exported a 16 bit 48 k OMF from Final Cut Pro that I imported no problem in Logic Pro 7.2.
Then, he made some new cuts to the video so he exported a new OMF at 48 k, 24 bit ... this did not import properly. Logic kept "unexpectedly" crashing when importing the composition part of the OMF, every time crashing on one specific file.
So, he exported another OMF at 48 k, 16 bit (because we thought it was a problem with 24 bit) but the same thing keeps happening .. I absolutely cannot import these new OMFs, they keep crashing Logic while importing the composition aspect of the OMF at one specific file ... but, I can still import the original OMF ... there is something wrong with the new OMFs I think ..
Does this sound familiar to anyone? is there something wrong with the way he may be exporting the OMF from Final Cut? .. any suggestions or work arounds would be incredibly appreciated ...

Probably the editor is using sounds with mixed sample rates in the new OMF !

  • Logic crashes when i save

i updated to tiger, cleared my harddrive, and i now use two firepods, and all of a suden when I select save song as project, logic saves the song but it crashes. anyone have any pointers?

I am having the same problem and I have installed the latest pro application update (3.1). I use Logic 7.0.1 but am waiting for the 7.2 update in the mail.
Logic crashes when I try to save a song using the "save as...", "Save as template", "Save as Project" commands.
The song does get saved properly, though.
Logic also crashes when exporting MIDI files. In that case I do loose everyhing I did since my last save.
When I use the normal "save" command Logic does not crash.
I tried deleting my autoload song and let Logic startup it's own one, but then the problem still occurs.
I read about "deleting the preferences" in an archived thread about this subject, but I don't know how to do that.
Can anybody help me with this?

  • Logic crashes when project loads Arturia Wurlitzer V

When loading recent project, Logic crashes when it gets to loading Arturia Wurlitzer V with error: read_size = =bytesize. Able to use Wurlitzer in new project. Is this Arturia problem or Logic problem? This started originally when I was working on the project, and it crashed.

I've got a PDF manual for the Arturia Minimoog (I told you it was late last night) and there is a Configuration page there - that could be worth having a check over for the equivalent - there's always a balance between your processor speed/RAM/communication speeds and I don't exactly know what you're trying to run that on.
The loading time for that plug-in does seem to suggest that it uses a bit more memory, but if you break me open like a stick of candy, I'm a good 80% musician in the middle, so what do I know...he he..

  • Logic crashes when trying to save/quit or open in 10.6.8

Logic crashes when trying to save/quit or open in 10.6.8 on Logic 9.1.4
Done everything like repair permissions etc.
Reinstalled both Logic and OS 10.6 (then updated to 10.6.8)
    Still doing it.
    Any advice guys?

    OK,
I have installed logic 9.1.5 from the apple site and run that, still same problem.. so i have finally managed to get my hands on the logic 9 disc.. it says on the apple site to remove logic 9 from your mac, to simply drag the logic app to trash and reinstall. i did this with 10.6.0 installed and run it and still error. I then combo updated to .4 .6 and to .7 without updating logic still error.. Then i have combo updated to 10.6.8 still error.. finally i installed the 9.1.5 update direct from the site on 10.6.8 and that hasnt worked either..
My question is, even though on the apple site it says to drop the app to the bin and reinstall, does this remove all necessary files? or do i have to do it manually and if so can someone tell me exactly what needs to go,before i try a proper reinstall.
    Thanks

  • Logic crashes when trying to open a Garageband project file

    Hey guys,
Since discovering that software instrument apple loops (SIAL) do NOT include the effects/sends when they are imported into logic, a discussion on here mentioned that when opened in Garageband, the effects are included. The suggestion was that by opening a garageband project in logic, the effects/sends would all be imported into logic from garage band.
This worked fine for a couple of software instruments such as '80's Dance Bass Synth' but strangely every time i try to open a garageband project file in logic with any of the software instrument loops 'Classic Rock Steel' or 'Southern Rock Guitar' logic crashes trying to open it. It usually loads up until an effect such as channel eq, platinumverb, or ducker and then stops loading and freezes.
It is really odd that it seems to be related to those guitar loops. So i was wondering if anyone has a fix, or if someone could spare a minute of their time and make a garageband project with a 'Southern Rock Guitar 2' software loop and try to open this project file in Logic - just to see if it is a problem with my logic, or if it is the same for everybody.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
    Nick.

  • Logic crashes when it tries to access other applications

Hi - The problem I am about to describe has make Logic basically a useless application. It happens on Logic Pro 7 and on Logic Express 7 on my computer. I have tried it on other uses and the same thing happens. I have emptied caches, deleted preferences files for both express and pro, reinstalled both express and pro, and more, but still the problem persists in both applications. The problem: whenever Logic needs to use another application to do something, it crashes. Examples of these instances include, for when Logic tries to access the finder: saving songs, creating new songs, exporting midi files, freezing, and bouncing. Also, when I try to export to iTunes, Logic crashes. These are just a few of the instances and I'm sure there are other times I just haven't discovered yet. Everything I do in Logic that solely use logic, and doesn't access another application works like normal.
Has anybody heard of this? Any suggestions? Apple Care hasn't been able to help despite countless hours with them on the phone.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

First of all repair disk permissions.
Then try a safe boot, i.e. start your Mac with the Shift key depressed until it's up then restart again normally.
Which version of Logic 7 do you own?
Do you have enough memory and disk space?
    cheers

  • Logic crashes when I open a particular file

Hi, Logic just started crashing on me and usually I could reopen the file, undo a few levels and carry on...However I seem to have saved something just before a crash which actually caused the crash, so that now when I open that file Logic crashes immediately, leaving me no time to get in and undo. Until today it's been running nicely. The file has a 90-minute mpeg4 movie and some AU tracks running. I've already trashed the preferences file, and removed the video file to thre trash so it wouldn't be accessible, but still no go. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Logic crashes when loading preferences

    hi!
can anyone please help? for some reason logic has started crashing when loading the preferences. i noticed for some reason it was playing through the built in audio rather than my motu interface, so i tried loading the preferences to change it and it just crashes every time. this has happened since i reinstalled logic studio 8, because it was giving me an error message on startup that caused it to crash. the error message i was getting was saying i have the wrong pro applications support installed (of which i could not alter or upgrade for some reason). so i went for a reinstall.. and now this other problem. any help would be greatly appreciated!
    i am running logic studio 8.0.2 on a powermac dual 2ghz G5
with 3gb ram and osx 10.5.3

Don't wipe your hard disk! (yet)
It's probably that your preferences have become corrupted. Go to User/Library/Preferences and trash your Logic preferences (com.apple.logic.pro.cs & com.apple.logic.pro.plist).
Reopen Logic and see what happens. The only problem is that you will lose all your keyboard commands etc., but they're a lot easier to recreate than reinstalling and authorising everything onto your hard drive.
Also, make a copy of your preferences once you've set everything up so that if you need to trash your preferences again sometime in the future, you can just replace them with the copies you've made.
I guess if none of this works then you may need reinstall Logic and, at worst everything else.

  • Logic crashes when I try to access Preferences

Logic Express 8 freezes up and crashes when I click on Preferences or Settings. I have tried reinstalling Logic, deleting Logic preferences in the Application Support folder, removing all of my third party audio unit plugins, and removing my rewire folder from Propellerheads Application Support folder. None of these methods that I found in other discussions have solved my problem. I'm not sure if this has to do with an incompatibility issue with Leopard or if I may have deleted or modified an important file that Logic relies on. I also tried reinstalling Pro Application support but it would not let me. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have yet to be able to use this program.
    Some specs:

The crash report sent to Apple begins like this:

don't know the answer i'm afraid, but may be something to do with memory...
The SIGSEGV exception relates to an application attempting to access memory that it is not allowed to access, or, say attempts to write to a read-only location. what other programs have you got running ? Have you got any 3rd party plug ins running ?
Might be worth looking in activity monitor to see exactly what's running and then re create the error and see if this gives any more info. Also check usr/library/logs and there should be a logic crash log which may give more detail
    Found something similar here
    http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-29827.html
and the guy ended up reinstaling the os to fix it i'm afraid

  • Logic crashes when using the "Close Project without Saving" key command

The "Close Project without Saving" key command does not work in LP8. When I try to use it, Logic crashes. This is reproducible on my system. Can anyone try and confirm this?

For me this shortcut is quite important on stage when I have to switch songs as fast as possible. It also is foolproof because on stage I never want to save with all the controller changes I did during a performance.
Just hit the key command, load the next song, done.
