Logic Disks not Reading

Hello,
I just upgraded to a Dual 1.8Ghz G5 and i cannot get it to read my logic 7 disks... It reads video DVDs, music CDs, my Studio 8 disks, and Mac OSX disks, but not logic.
It makes a strange noise for about 3 minutes and then spits it back out. Anyone else had this?
The disks worked in my old G5 iMac...
Cheers
Rob

Robulous-
I thought that they should be OSX compatible but I hat being burned by the obvious (;>)
My guess is that something is wrong with the disks. If you contact Apple and are able to provide them with a serial number and perhaps confirm ownership you may find that they will supply you with replacement disks at a nominal cost.

  • IPhone disk not read or write using iTunes.

iPhone disk not read or write using iTunes. I've tried the permissions on my MacBook Pro. I'm convinced it's my phone. This just started out of the blue. Any guidance ?

    1. There is no such thing as an "iPhone disk."  Please recheck that error message.
    2. iPhones have NEVER been able to file transfer with BlueTooth to a computer.  The BlueTooth profile has never been part of the iOS.
    3.  What iPhone model and iOS version, and what iTunes version are you using?
    4. Is this phone jailbroken?

  • T43 Recovery Disks Not Reading Disk 1

I have tried recreating the factory partition but I keep getting an error on Disk 1.  I have wiped the drive using the PC-Tools software utility, tried the process with and without the supplemental disk and it gets all the way through to disk 1 and says it's not the correct disk.  I have checked the disk on another computer and the Disk 1 Recovery disk is good.  Any ideas?

    hey rconaway,
Is it possible for you to grab a screenshot of the error ?
At the same time, when you made the recovery disc; what was the version of Rescue & Recovery that you were using?
Currently Rescue&Recovery is at version 4.30.0027 (Win 7)
I would recommend upgrading if you havent and also try making another set and see if it works

  • Disk not read at startup

when i boot up my mac and login, it says that my disk can't be read and asks me to either ignore or eject. what does this mean?? i noticed some changes on my desktop and all from last time i booted up.
    g5 17" Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Sounds like you may have a CD or DVD in the optical drive. If that's not the case then try this:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • One of the SAN logical disk of windows 2008 not discovered as logical disk in SCOM 2007R2.

    Hi,
Anyone can advise where should i check to make the discovery work. i have rename/restart the health service folder/scom agent on the problem windows 2008 server. it still cannot discover the logical disk which make the monitoring of logical disk not possible.

    Hi,
Microsoft introduced 'SAN Policy' in Win 2008 (Enterprise and Datacenter Edition only) which causes SAN disks to not be available on startup by default, as a protection mechanism. You have to use the Diskpart.exe utility to set the policy of the disks
on that server to make them come up after a restart.
More info on similar sort of thing here.

  • Logic 7.1.1 Not Reading Automation

Ever since I went from 7.1 to 7.1.1 (OS 10.4.2), Logic is not reading all my automation data. This behavior is pretty inconsistent and so far the only work around is to rebuild in a new session.
Apple's suggestion (without paying the $199) was to create a new template (possibly a corrupt template issue), trash prefs, turn off sample accurate automation, and/or move the session to the internal hard drive. It seemed as though I was rid of the problem after making a new template for my sessions, but no such luck.
A typical episode is as follows:
The automation for a simple fade, either drawn in or recorded with mouse moves, will either go undetected or will freeze at a random point on the slope, continuing to play back the track at an incorrect volume level. It's as if Logic loses sight of the automation data. Any thoughts or similar experiences? I've exhausted the Apple tech support on this issue.

no real cure for that problem, I just went through that when I switched to mac from PC all the songs came from L5 platinum and osx, logic had been fresh installs, so prefs and location has nothing to do with it, it is a quirky build that Apple f'd up on but the problems are not severe enough or frequent enough for an immediate update from them.
The automation engine is the same from the ver.5 series, so it's definitly something to do with the current build/update.
best thing to do, remove the update if you had no problem with the 7.1 initial build and wait it out for the 7.1.2 update and hope that they fixed thier mistake.
the back paddle is the only thing that got my automation working again.

  • Imac not reading CD's

Updated to Snow Leopard 6 months ago.
Wanted to rip a CD (music) using iTunes the other day, first time in a while.
Disk not reading, same with other disks. They work on PC's.
Tried some installation DVD's and they are read, it is just CD's it seams,
    Any ideas?

Try doing a SMC reset (Google "Intel iMac SMC Reset" and retest. If that does not work then reset the PRAM (again Google it) and if that does not work then your Superdrive may need cleaning. Go to your local office supply store and buy and CD/DVD cleaning kit and following the directions clean the drive. Then if still not joy then it's probably a mechanical issue that means replacement, if you don't want to pay for replacement (assuming no AppleCare) then get an external DVD drive and use it.

  • SCOM 2007 R2 : Logical Disk Free Space : Did not Alert

    Hello reader ,
I know this might be a repeated hearing for you. I have been sitting wit this issue for many hours now. I would like to understand where or what am I missing.
We have the default 'Logical Disk Space' Monitoring enabled for ALL servers in our environment. In one SQL server, non-system drive(E:) went beyond the warning(2000MB and 10%) and Critical (1000MB and 5%) Threshold. The total space allotted for the Drive
E: was 79GB. Now the total space left today morning was 698MB. But no alert was triggered.
    I checked the following
If the  health service watcher was available. - Yes it was.
If the Space really dropped to 698 - Yes it did. I verified from Performance Report.
I checked if there are any overrides - Nothing specific found.
In most of the blogs they said me to check if both criteria was successful - As shown above it is clearly matches.
Any idea why this alert was not fired ?

Thank you Agarwal ! To Answer your Question.
    1) verify the monitor settings again.
=> I did this N number of times.
    2) ensure there are no overrides
    =>  I did this too.
    3) ensure that monitor properties are set for the correct Windows OS (same as that of the server).
=>What Do you mean here ?. I did not change any settings , it was there by default. No change was done at all.
    4) also confirm that you do not have any other overrides on the two aggregate rollup monitors for "logical disk free space". These aggregate rollup monitors are just below the unit monitor in SCOM console.
=>Those Aggregate Rollup monitors are disabled. As we already have this unit monitor Enabled. There is no link to Aggregate monitor.
If all these settings are true, then can you try this. calculate the exact value in both % and MBytes according to your server, put the same values in your monitor through an override and repro the low disk space condition,. you should get an alert.
=> Not so easy to do this in prod. So will keep you posted when this is tested. Looks like this is the only way we can confirm if the alerts are sent.

  • Logical Disk space on a virtual Computer (not a Server) in SCOM 2012

    Hello all-
I have a sort of unique situation for our SCOM environment.  We are already doing logical disk space monitoring on all of our SERVERS with no issues.  Now we have one user who requires monitoring on their computer.  This is really
a virtual workstation, as opposed to a real computer.   Since it's virtual, it's really online all the time.    Whether its right or wrong, they are using this virtual workstation sort of as a server.  Anyway, they want me to
monitor the disk space for the C drive on this virtual computer.  I'm having difficulty setting up such a monitor on a computer like that...
I got the SCOM agent installed onto the computer.  SCOM is reporting it as being "Healthy".   Now how can I define a logical disk space monitor for it?   I attempt to create a monitor:   Windows Performance Counters,
Static Thresholds, Single Threshold.  Then how can I direct the monitor at the C drive on the computer?  I have to fill in the Object, Counter and Instanace.  Normally I would click on the
Select button, then I would type in the server name and hit Enter and it would bring up all the objects it will allow me to monitor.  Unfortunately it doesn't let me type in the computer name and hit enter in the same way.  When I
do so, it says "The network path was not found".  If I click on the
... button next to the Computer field, it brings me to a Select Computer screen.  In here, I am type in the computer name and then I click
Check Name and it does appear to find it, and it underlines the computer's name.    So I then click
OK to bring me back to the previous screen where it presents me with the same  "The network path was not found" error immediately. So I can't seem to navigate to the computer in SCOM and select the C drive, as I would be able
    to for a server.
I tried to sort of force it in, instead of browsing for the computer and selecting the C drive.  I simply put
LogicalDisk in for the Object then Free Megabytes for the Counter, then
C: for the Instance (as shown in the attached screen print.
Then I just applied my new rule to the computer via SCOM.  I don't get any error messages when setting it up that way, but it certainly doesn't work.
So with all that said, can anyone help me out setting up a logical disk space monitoring for a COMPUTER in SCOM 2012 SP1 please?  Please let me know if you need any more information!

Thanks, that would probably do it, I'm going to keep that as my backup plan.  However, my current feeling is that it might be a bit overkill to install a whole management pack, when all I want to do is monitor a single C drive on a single workstation.
The rest of the monitors in the management pack I wouldn't have any interest it.   Let me ask you a question maybe you will know the answer to... Shouldn't I be able to monitor that drive even without that management pack installed?   I
mean some combination of settings for the Logical Disk Space rule in that management pack works for computers/workstations.  Shouldn't I be able to reproduce that one single rule without the management pack?  Does anyone have that management pack
installed?  Could you possibly look at the Client OS Logical Disk Space rule and send me some screen shots or something?   Or am I missing something?  Is the management pack needed for other reasons in order to monitor this?

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Logical Disk monitor is not listed in SCOM 2012

    Dear Experts,
I tried to create an override of Logical Disk space threshold value changes on one of Windows 2008 R2 OS, But unable to find the respective monitor of 'Windows Server 2008 R2 Logical Disk' monitor in the scope, But I can see Windows Server 2008 Logical
Disk monitor is there and if I do right-click create override the monitor for particular specific of Windows server 2008 computers then the Windows 2008 R2 computer is not displaying there. Finally I found Windows Server 2008 R2 Logical Disk monitor is
    missing ?

I converted from a PC to a Mac Mini.  I have my PC documents backed up on a DVD disk.  I have an external DVD drive connected to the Mac Mini.  I want to open these documents up from the DVD storage and save them to the Mac, BUT....when I put the DVD disk in the Mac is NOT reading it!

    Hi Joe,
Thanks for your quick response.  I should add....it worked before.  When I previously inserted the two DVDs into this remote drive, and I went into finder, I could click on the "remote device" line and see all my saved documents (excel, word, etc) on the DVD and open them on the Mac.  Now I cannot see them, when I try to open them on the Mac, nothing happens, nothing is displayed.  I just re-tested the remote DVD drive with a CD and, no problem, it opened up the CD via iTunes and I cold play the CD.  SO......I know the remote DVD drive (it's an LG by the way) is fine, it's something to do with some settings on my mini mac, especially where I could open it previously.  I do not remember changing any settings since then.
When I go into system preferences and click on CD/DVD it gives me options of how to open up a music CD (default is iTunes), a DVD (default is iMovie), etc.  The problem is my DVD is all miscellaneious files/documents.  I just want to be able to see them in the finder.  I also tried to open them via microsoft word, from the remote disk and again, it could not open the drive, even though some of the documents were microsoft word documents.  Again, I was able to open them previously and the DVD is not corrupted in any way.
    Any additional advice?
    Thank you!

  • My Mac Mini will not read TDK disks from my iMac G3.

My Mac Mini will not read TDK disks from my iMac G3.
I used an iMac G3 (2001) -- the ones that looked like a big pod -- running on OS X and saved files to TDK  CD-R, 700 MB disks, which worked fine. Now that I have a Mac Mini (model number  A1347) I cannot get this computer to read those disks, made on the iMac G3.  Once inserted each disk will open and I can retrieve files for a short period, then the problems start. The computer makes some noises, the beach-ball/pinwheel goes around and I cannot get the files to open or the disk to eject. After a while the disk does eject -- to my relief. I keep using Control+E until ejection happens.
My Mac Mini (2010-2011) is hooked up to a View Sonic HDMI LED monitor, an iOmega external hard-drive for backing up, an Epson Stylus C88 Plus printer and to the internet by a fibre 10MB feed. The Mac Mini runs on OS X version 10.6.8 Snow Leopard: Processor Speed:2.66 GHz
I took the Mac Mini to an Apple retailer and he hooked the computer up to one of his monitors and it read the TDK disks just fine. I am now using Sony CD-RW, 700 MB disks, but I would prefer to use my TDKs because I have such a large pile of blank ones to use and there are those TDK disks with information that I want to look at from time to time. Can anyone tell me what to do?
    DJG

Try disconnecting everything attached to the Mini except the monitor.
If that doesn't work, try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later. If successful, copy the files to the original account Public/Dropbox.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.
