Logic doesn't send midi to Reason 4

hi,
got a huge problem:
i've rcorded mididata in logic and rewired reason 4.
worked without any problems until yesterday. suddenly reason doesn't recieve the mididata from logic.
when i'm on the miditrack and play live via keyboard reason recieves the mididata.
and when i record new mididata it does work, too. but the "old" ones aren't recieved by reason.
i really don't have a clue what that could be and i really hope that you can help me.
thank you very much

Hi Stef,
You may only have a small problem; it sounds like you have inadvertenly muted either the notes, the track, the region or the channel strip, OR soloed something else, thus also muting it.
Are there any solo or mute buttons active in the mixer? Is the region greyed? Are the notes colored or colorless in the Piano Roll editor? Is there any region in a yellow border? Is the bar ruler shaded yellow?
regards, Erik.

  • I can record midi data from my Mason & Hamlin Piano Disc Pro Record through my MOTU Traveller into Logic but Logic won't send midi data out to the MOTU Traveller to the Piano Disc player

    Hello All,
I can record midi data from my Mason & Hamlin Piano Disc Pro Record through my MOTU Traveller into Logic Pro 9.1.8  but Logic won't send the midi data back out to the MOTU Traveller and thus to the Piano Disc player. I got it to playback one time but have no idea how and when it did it was looping or something because the velocity was way high coming back in and the damper pedal was slamming down. When I play a key on the piano the midi "in" light on the Traveller lights up. When I play the track back on my computer no lights blink on the Traveller and when I did the apple midi studio test in utilities when I play a key I get the confirmation signal noise and the Traveller blinks when I click on the down arrow of the Traveller in the Apple midi studio test the midi out light on the traveller never lights and the signal light on the piano does not blink either. No outbound signal at all...
I have messed with every possible parameter I can find and and have had help from one of Piano Disc's premier editors but no luck. The piano was prepped for me on Logic so it would work with my studio.  I'm positive it's my fault and I'm overlooking something really simple and stupid but what!??!
Somebody please help.  Thank you all in advance for ANY ideas you might have!

    Blues Piano,
I'm not sure if this will be a help or not.  I'm so Logic Pro wet behind the ears that I make newbies look experienced.  However, I'm not expecting many on the Apple support forums have a PianoDisc system, much less one with the new optical record strip.  While I don't have any record strip on my PianoDisc, I do have a PianoDisc iQ that's only a month old.  I've been playing converted paper scrolls from hundred year old player pianos through it via the MIDI in port of the PianoDisc CPU.  I've found I have to open the MIDI file in Logic Pro (10.0.4) then go to <Track><New External MIDI Track> then copy the existing track to that new external track.  Only then can I see in the Track inspector (defaults left side of screen with the Icon for the instrument) the "Port" parameter.  Then I can select my external MIDI device in that Port selector.
I've also encountered problems with the PianoDisc not using enough force on the notes or using too much force.  To get around this problem, until I understand Logic better, I've been setting minimum and maximum volicities.  To do that I right click on the track and select "Select All."  Then I right click again and select "MIDI" then "MIDI Transform"  then "Velocity Limiter."  In the resulting pop up window in the center is a drop down and you can play with the velocity from "MIN" to "MAX" along with "ADD" "SUBTRACT" etc.
I hope this helps.  I envy you your Mason & Hamlin.  If you need more help on this just email me at pfleischmann at mac dot com.

  • Logic is only sending MIDI signals when I try to quit the program

I'm using an M-Audio Uno to transmit MIDI data from Logic 9 to a drum machine (TR-808 clone) but only when I start to quit the program and am asked if I want to save the project (and have a loop sending data to the machine playing while trying to quit), will I finally get data transmission.  The whole setup worked fine several months ago, but I hadn't been using the drum machine slaved to Logic for some time, and now I'm getting this odd problem.  Any ideas?

Ah.. then I suspect you just need to go to Logic's prefs/Audio and check CoreAudio...
    It has been unchecked somehow...
Also.. as an aside.. Be careful not to create such large subject names in future when posting here.. They can cause issues with replying to posts in such threads.. due to a bug in the forum software.. so please keep them short and to the point...
    Cheers..

  • Logic doesn't send parameter settings to touchosc

    hi,
in the first time both apps ( logic and touchosc) worked very well together, but now there are some connection problems between them. i've nothing changed in network connections and nonetheless touchosc shows his default setting w/o fader in right position and w/o names and so on. logic reacts on pushing the play button in touchosc, but there are not any light response in touchosc.
furthermore i have to say that logic recognises my ipad correctly. i mean it detects touchosc/ ipad under control surfaces / setup. i' ve tested it with livecontrol and ableton live and it works very well w/o any connection problems, so what is wrong with logic or touchosc? thank you very much

sorry, i forgot to mention that it concerns logic pro 9.1.3 and logicpad (touchosc layout).

  • When running a "stand-alone" APP..how do I send midi from Logic?

    Hi all,
    When running a "stand-alone" APP..how do I send midi from Logic?.....Please no IAC stuff it doesn't work.......thanx
    SvK

using IAC here no problems. works very well.
you can host your au's in another app such as soundflower or au lab, but you are still going to need to get it to hear midi. you can use physical midi ports with something like a MTP midi interface, and getting the midi by routing the out of one port to the in of another (midi loop) but you have to be careful logic doesn't listen to the same midi signal or everything will jam up (midi feedback).

  • Sending midi via Motif USB to Logic.

Can someone explain how to set up my Mac,Logic pro 9 & Motif es6 to send midi note messages to Logic? I just need to use my Motif as a midi controller.I downloaded the drivers on my Mac & hopefully it is there!
    Thanks.

If it is installed correctly then...
Open Logic, create a new project... add a software instrument track... (You can add a software instrument to that track to hear notes at this point too) select that track.. and just play notes on your Motif6  and look at the transport bar to see if those notes are being received by Logic... They will appear under Note In...
If midi notes are not received then the Motif is not being recognised correctly by your Mac.. (It's actually nothing to do with Logic itself.. it's OS Xand the drivers you installed that control everything) and so you need to check you installed the drivers correctly but normally, it's pretty much plug and play....

  • Sending MIDI from Logic to Motion

Motion (Apple's animation software) allows MIDI instructions to change animation parameters. I was wondering if anyone here has been successful in sending MIDI instructions from Logic to Motion and can take me through the steps to do so. (I have a related question over in the Motion forum.)
    Thanks in advance.

Take a look at "midipipe" and "midi patchbay" too.(free downloadables)
They're probably just front-ends for the IAC bus, but sometimes GUI is good.
Be wary when enabling virtual midi patches cause logic sums all inputs which can create a feedback loop. It seems to not hang my computer indefinately when it happens nowadays, just freeze it for a few seconds then give me a few seconds to fix it before freezing again for a while.
If your getting into realtime midi to graphics also check out "quartz composer" in the osx developer tools too.
..or "pure data" with GEM if your real brave.

  • Logic doesn't receive a midi signal any longer

The whole morning I worked on my project in Logic, using my 2 midi keyboards, no problem. Now suddenly they stopped working. Logic doesn't receive any signal any more. I already did a midi driver reset, restarted the Mac, turned off and on the keyboards, checked the cables. Nothing works. What can be the problem?

If your MIDI interface does not appear, make sure it is powered on and connected to your computer. If you are running any Classic applications and your USB interface did not appear, quit AMS and all MIDI and Classic applications, shut down the Classic environment (you can do this in the System Preferences). If you did not install Mac OS X drivers for your hardware, you may need to do so.
If your MIDI interface is grayed out, like the Emagic EMI 6|2 M in the illustration, that means that this interface was previously present when you ran a MIDI application, but the driver could not locate it, or the driver is no longer installed. If the device is present, quit AMS and all MIDI and Classic applications, shut down the Classic environment, and make sure that drivers for your hardware are installed. If you no longer have this hardware, you can select and delete the interface if you like.
If your MIDI interface appears and is not grayed out, like the Edirol UM-880 in the illustration, this means that your device’s driver has successfully located the hardware and all is well. If you like, you can begin using your MIDI applications without any further setup. In your applications, you will see the names of the hardware ports, as assigned by the driver. In the case of the UM-880, for example, you will see “Port 1,” “Port 2,” etc.
If Audio MIDI Setup crashes when starting or when you click on MIDI Devices, this is probably because the MIDIServer process has crashed while starting, most likely due to a problematic MIDI driver. Try moving aside 3rd party MIDI drivers. Drivers are normally installed in/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers, though they may also be loaded from\$(HOME)/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers and/System/Library/Extensions. You might find useful clues as to which driver is crashing in:\$(HOME)/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MIDIServer.crash.log (scroll to the bottom for the most recent crash).

  • Logic Pro X doesn't receive midi signals (Logic 9 does)

    Hi,
When I updated to OSX Yosemite 10.10.2 Logic X stopped receiving midi signals from my keyboards and otther midi devices.
    My system is:
    Mac Pro (2010)
3,2 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon
    Memory 8 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
The funny thing is that it worked great before the update to Yosemite, and when I run Logic 9 evreything works as norwal in Yosemite. No problem with the MIDI-signals then.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this.
I am using an Oxygen USB keyboard and a Alesis Control Pad, but there is no signal in Logic X.
Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

SAME PROBLEMS WHITH MY MAC BOOK PRO RETINA DISPLAY!!!
Logic Pro X crashes during the download of the additional content!!!!

same problems whit Main Stage 3 !!!

  • Sending MIDI

How do i see what channels i am sending MIDI out from?. Basically I'm trying to update my Waldorf Blofeld and it looks like I'm sending data into Logic but it's not sending the update firmware back to the Blofeld? So i need to know if I'm sending on the correct channels?.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

Set up the Waldorf in omni mode so you will be sure that the MIDI data will be received.

  • Logic dosen´t send out my prg. ch numbers on start up?

    Hi List
I have a couple of external synths (Moog Voyager, Nordlead 4, Dave Smiths Tetra.....) In my customized template I have prg change numbers to be sent out on start up. But it seems like I need to manually change the value in the track parameters. Another funny thing...I can´t send program change into logic from my external synths.
    Anyone heard about this?
    Best
    Tomas Bodin
    Maverick, Logic 10.0.6

As an example, (midi ch 1, Nordlead 4) I switch sound via the track parameters in Logic. I decide to change it to prg 73. So far so good because when I change prg from Logic, the sound will change accordingly in the Nordlead. Now I change the program once more , but this time I´ll perform the change from the Nordlead. Lets´say prg 74 (I have the nord prg change in send & recieve) Of course the sound will change soundwise.... but in Logic (on the same midi channel) nothing will happen. In Logic it still says prg 73. But I´m listening to prg 74. Now here comes the funny part.. When I press record in Logic the track will switch to prg 74. So in my world it seems like there is a problem with midi thru somehow. Once you direct the track (in this case)  ch 1, Logic will update the actual status.
    Thank you for your patience!
    Ideas?
    Best

  • CF mail server doesn't send emails

    Hi everyone,
we are running a CF 4.5 server in our company. the CFMail
doesn't send emails since last week. the emails are in the queue.
the server IP is correct, we restarted it a few times, nothing
    helped.
Does anyone have any idea about possible problems?
    thanks in advance.

stopped. so it doesn't show any error.
    > and there is no authentication either.
I've seen other posts that indicate sometimes an email
    message can cause
a log jam. It can't be sent for some goodness only knows
    reason and
then causes the process to abort piling up messages behind
    it.
What happens if you remove the first (or first few) messages
    in the que?

  • Unable to send midi from Mainstage out to Rewire applications

I can't seem to find out how to send midi out from Mainstage to other applications, such as Reason.
I created an external instrument channel strip, but in the midi out -box out the channel strip I can only see the physical midi output from my audio interface. The Rewire application should be visible here as an option, shouldn't it - or is there another way to send midi out from Mainstage to be able to play for example Reason instruments with Mainstage? Any ideas what might be wrong? I have Reason open and it seems to be working as a Rewire slave as it should, but somehow it isn't visible as a midi port in Mainstage.

Hey Malmberg, I was able to get this to work by doing the following steps:
Opened Mainstage and my Mainstage concert file first
Then opened Reason (I only have the demo)
Selected a patch I wanted to use in Mainstage to Reason
Clicked + to create a new Ext channel strip
In the MIDI Out box, I used the dropdown list and choose Reason (see image)
It could be that the sequence you used so open MS first, then Reason

  • Send midi from software sequencer to midi out

I am quite new to logic and sometimes am confused about the midi routing...
I have a sequencer (Reaktor) in a software instrument track, from wich I want to send midi to my hardware synthesiser. (sometimes maby recording the midi coming out from reaktor to a midi track)
I have the output channel in Reaktor set to the same as the receive channel of my synthesiser. (everything works fine in Reaktor standalone)
But I was not able to do it from logic ...
I tried option-clic on the triangle in the track in the environnement, to draw a beautiful cable to the corresponding midi channel of my instrument track...
    And a few other things...
    My synthesiser still recieve nothing.
If anyone can show me the road, i will be very grateful.
    Thanks

  • Send MIDI Sequence to GarageBand

    Hello,
Is it possible to write a Java program that OSX will see as a virtual MIDI device (just like it might see a real MIDI USB keyboard) so that I can programmatically generate and send MIDI sequences through GarageBand?
I am experienced with Java and C and I have written device drivers. But I am not sure where to begin because I have zero experience with the javax.sound.midi package.
I envision the following: When I run the program from a terminal it initializes a virtual device and then pauses. At this point if GarageBand is running I should see the familiar "The number of midi inputs has changed" message. Then each time I hit <Enter> and it plays my coded MIDI sequence. I can select a different instrument in GarageBand and hit <Enter> again and it will play the sequence again using the new instrument. Pressing 'x' or a special character will cause the device to deinitialize again triggering the aforementioned GarageBand message and the Java program will exit.
    Is this possible?
Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
    Mike

    Hi,
I have a similar question, so I'm curious if you ever found an answer to yours. I was wondering if I could get a Java sound Synthesizer for a native synthesizer AudioUnit (specifically Ivory Pianos). It doesn't look like it.
