Logic ex 7 enviroment

I was using roland d-50 key board as midi controller & roland jv1010 as sound module connect to my computer with emagic mt4....... and now I want to add yamaha psr2100 keyboard as a sound module.......... this is how I tried it....
roland d-50 out connected to mt4 in and the mt4 has 4 midi out and from channel 1 out to jv1010 in from channel 2 out to yamaha 2100 in but I could not got any comincotion bettwen yamaha and logic....... need help to do some thing about the inviroment

I ran into the same thing with a yamaha motif es 6. I went to the yamaha forum for motif users, surfed the discussiion boards there and then thru a google search got to a downloadable logic/motif enviroment ready made, which I added to my system as a default. Now, the environment can be used at will.
However, logic also has a pretty seamless adaptation to various instruments, so if you haven't already tried this....
Shut down everything peripheral- that means the keyboards and ant modules. Shut down the logic program. Heck, even shut off your computer to make sure.
Then, power up the periherals. Make sure any thing you are using for your sound generation [midi keyboard, modules, mixer] is running before you turn on the computer. If you don't want the computer off, just make sure that logic is not running at all. When re-starting the logic program, it should automatically read the instruments and modules attached and be prepped to use them.
Other possible problems- yamaha has a specific usb driver for motif, maybe there's one needed for the psr2100 as well. Check out yamaha website for more info. Let me know if any of this works. If not, i'll re-trace all my steps and see if anything else jumps out at me for solutions. Good luck- this can be a pain but you'll enjoy the end results.

Logic 8 Enviroment - Dynamic MIDI Notes And Velocity

While doing some drum patterns with Stormdrum1/2, what I wanted to do (since I'm not a drummer) is create a simple drum pattern but have random hits to different drum pieces (if a loaded instrument support different drum pieces).
With another MACRO (PlaySeveralWhiteKeyNotes) I created in Logic 8's Enviroment, I'm able to do that.

It is hard to understand what you want to do, but it seems like you can solve your problem using just a simple "Mapped Instrument" in the Environment instead of Macro creation etc. The Mapped Instrument or a combination of Mapped Instruments offers many features like drum layering, custom pad velocity, midi channel, custom cable output for each pad etc. The Mapped Instrument can be used as Hyper Transformer, something like that. If you clarify your question and fix the link, it will be better for detail support.

LOGIC EXPRESS 9-keyboard does not work in enviroment display

why can't i get the enviroment display keyboard to display notes in realtime on and off. it currently only shows ON and never goes off, unless i reclick on the the display keyboard ?

How do I use logic as a mulit timbre sound module???

Whats up people,
Im trying to trigger all the sounds in logic via a hardware controller (mpc) separating everything on separate channels. I got it to read on just one channel at a time, but multi?? Forget about it.... I read other posts in regards to this same question and have run thru the suggestion switched midi setting to auto demix etc...
Doesn't respond if i go to another channel on my hardware and select the new instrument to the same channel in logic it still only allows playback from one channel at a time?? Huh is my theory even possible folks!?? I would think it is.
Im trying to comprehend the instructions in the manual for the environment setup, to see if i need to make any changes their. I thrown in a channel splitter, a seq input, a transformer but i have no idea if im doing it right?? I must be slow cos to me that enviroment chapter reads like riddles! (LAYMAN TERMS SOMEONE PLEASE!!)
If anyone can assist in this id appreciate it. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

The latest.............okay where do i start. Well i actually followed everybody suggestion on this thread and actually as a result now understand the enviroment a little better. But i have still been unable to get my multi playback channels. I managed to get access to all 16 channels etc.
Right now i have my physical input going thru the monitor to the channel splitter, each channel is cabled to my audio instrument(which im assuming is the multi inst i created as to represent the mpc) channels are set to all and then i have the out of my audio instrument going to the seq input. I hear my sounds and have actually triggered the internal sounds from the mpc pads no problem (did that b4 i posted)
but now say i select midi channel 1 on my mpc, which in turn is instrument 1, double click it to get the audio window select ultrabeat, go back to the mpc and program some drums using ultrabeats sounds. Now remember all im doing is recording midi signals into my mpc which is triggering logics sounds right. okay so now, im saying i want to go to the next channel/audio instrument/ and now use sculpture and put a nice fat bass on it. so i select the patch i want hit play on my mpc hoping that it plays back the drums, but NO! now i have selected a new track it pulls over the programming i did for ultrabeat into the sculpture patch.....follow me??
I tested logic to just record one at a time in the arrange, and it does but it records real erratic. btw my mpc is strung up thru my midisport usb which i did select in the enviroment window..check!
I tried Mac's method of dragging the audio instrument into the arrange and selecting the track with a corresponding sub channel etc but got allot of midi feedback!!??? I know that going to settings - record-auto demix etc is supposed to do the trick, well it aint for me?? Please what am i doing wrong??
Ultimately i want to be able to program my mpc using logics sounds via the midi channels simultaneously, and then dump it all down into logic once i am happy with the outcome. Am i asking too much for logic to be a sound source and recorder at the same time??
I dont mean to sound naive or ignorant but i have just started using software for the first time. i use to go the hardware route using digital recorders allday but it was a simpler routing method since my sound sources were seperate(keyboards, sound modules etc). obviously now im tryint to intergrate my old style with the new, but im getting very fustrated and creativley lathalgic from this setback. Many have suggested tossing the mpc and using logic for drums, but sorry i just cant do it i love that boom bap to much.
Anway sorry for the rambling its late and ive just spent the last 5 hours beating my head upside the g5. If anyone out their hasd a similar setup to me whether successful or not, get at me lets trade off techniques and ideas.

Creating logical standby from non primary backup

We want to test creation for logical standby in our test enviroment.
Here is the plan we are
1. Backup Prod.
2. Restore Test Primary (T1) and Restore test standby (T2) from Prod backup.
3. Setup standby between T1 and T2.
Plan is to save the time for backup and restore process. I have not doe it before. Will this process work or T2 restore needs to be done from backup of T1 as that would be primary.

General steps to follow:
1. restore T1 as the (test)primary DB.
2. recover/apply the T1 using the redo log.
3. restore T2 but do not apply redo to prevent it from divergence from T1. i mean, let T2 scn be behind T1 scn.
4. following the general steps as it apply to you in preparing and creating primary and standby DB

Clarification Regarding Logical System Names

HI all,
I read the blogs regarding Logical System Name, even I am having the some problems in my system.
For PI system client is 100.
R/3 System Client is 100 is created.
IN PI when I checked the sale->basic setting-> LOgical Settings-> Assign Logical Systems
I found there is only one client 100, and it is having the same logical system name as 'PICLNT100'.
In SLD one Business System is created for Client 100 and having the Logical System Name is 'PICLNT100'.
When I checking in the R/3 system that logical system Name ('PICLNT100') is not there and for r/3 client 100 having the different logical system name.
IN ID when I found the Goto ID->File Buinsess system and Menu ->Services->Adapter Specific Identifiers->Logical Ssytem,
It is different from the SLD logical System Name.
How Can I know in PI, that Logical System is belongs to r/3 or PI client 100,
when I running the sceanrio it is giving error as ATTRIBUTE_INV_SND_SERV while doing the file to Idoc scenario.
How I have to maintain the logical system names in this case?
please help me in this.

hi.
each r3 system has his own SLN (PI,BI,ECC,etc). this name identify each R3 sytem.

to export data of your R3 system to SLD, just do it from TCODE RZ70 in your r3 system, not PI.
once you configure it all data from r3 system is exported to SLD.
if the SLN does not match in Adapter Specific Identifiers->Logical Ssytem, edit the Bussines System (press in the little pencil) go to Adapter Specific Identifiers->Logical Ssytem and prees in the little hand icon. in the SLN in not refresh, go to menu enviroment--> CLEAR SLD DELTA CACHE. and repeat the steps before.
each time you send data to an R3 system and the sender system is a legacy. in your receiver communication channel>header mapping>sender system--> select the PI Bussines system and try again.

Logical Standby on Standard Edition

Hey,
I have to setup an enviroment with 10gR2 on Linux.
I can only use standard edition.
I will have a manual physical standby in place.
Now I get a new requirement: I need to have an additional db for read only access.
Now logical standby is not possible with standard edition.
I found shareplex for oracle (quest) - would that be an alternative ?
Do you have other ideas how to realize an standby database which can be read by an application -- the database should be sync with the primary as possible

It is possible to setup a schedule for your standby database to switch between READ ONLY mode and recovery mode.
For example, from 8am till 12pm, you can have your physical standby database be in read only mode, so that users can run reports. The standby database will not be updated during this time.
From 12pm till 2pm, the standby is switched to normal recovery mode and all the latest changes are applied.
At 2pm the standby is switched back into read only mode for reporting purposes.
At 6pm the standby database is put back into recovery mode until 8am the next morning to ensure the standby database is fully up to date for the next reporting day.
For this to work well, and to make sure you are also covered for DR at all times, it is important that your primary database keeps sending the archive redo logs to the standby server.
The archive redo logs are then queued up and ready to be applied on the standby server. So if you do suffer a major outage and have to activate the standby database, all the archive logs are available on the standby server.
This is how http://www.dbvisit.com works to enable physical standby for Standard Edition (SE).

SLD doesnu00B4t refresh de Logical System

Hi All,
I work on enviroment that had never had an IDOC scenario, because this the Technical System in SLD doesn´t have a Logical System.
So, now the company needs a IDOC scenario, and I created one correct logical system in the BD54 (R3 Receiver), after this I updated the Logical system of the Client in Technical System (SLD).
However, When I check the Business system linked with this Technical System as I said above, the logical system name isn´t updated as I did.
I tried to create other clients in TS to see if the BS refresh, but the Logical system still not showing up in BS.
Am I missing something ?
The BS needs to have a Logical system name and thus I can update the BS in Integration Builder (configuration)

-->While creating technical system as WEB AS ABAP in your SLD you need to maintain the details of your R/3 system like DB Host name,Installation number,Client etc.....While creating TS you no need to maintain any LS.
-->While creating the Business System as WEB AS ABAP along with your name to BS it will ask the LS name and you ned to select your required TS(ie WEB AS ABAP TS).
-->The LS name which you maintained in your SLD must and should created in your R/3 system in BD54 and that LS name should be assigned to client using t-code SCC4.
-->If the LS name which you assigned to your BS is not reflecting in your ID means,
FROM->MENU->Clear SLD.
-->Select your BS and click on button compare with SLD

Please clarify. Is it possible to return from a Logical Standby to Physical standby without copying the datafiles from Primary enviroment again?.

How to make this function in enviroment?

Hi I think I need some help here.
I want to set a enviroment to switch the audio instruments like the VSL performence tool:
when I press the first key on the midi keyboard, the first instruments plays , and then the second press , the second instruments play then the third press, the first instruments play .....i mean 2 instrument play in turns .
so anyone here can give me some suggestion how to build this enviroment?

this is easy to setup with logic.
if you go to logicprohelp.com and look up environments and templates, download my basic orchestral template and you will see how i do it.
basically you set up a GM instrument cabled to a transformer and then to an audio instrument. the transformer then converts information you specify to control aspects of the audio instrumnet/s. in my case i use it to convert program changes to operate keyswitches or articulation switches in my custom made instruments.
to quickly achieve what you want to do use a cable switcher or selector in faders -> special to switch between different audio instruments.
- first create a GM instrument, name it and bring it up in arrange.
- then cable it to a cable switcher in the environment.
- cable the first cable to 1 AI then the next to the next and so on.
- select the cable switcher and define the paramter that will activate the switch in the paramters box on the LH side of the screen in environment. you may need to make sure that the midi channels match.
now, when you do your keyswitch or program change or set a controller the cable switcher will switch the midi information to the correct AI.
have a look at the percussion page in the environment of my full orchestral template to see how it works if you get stuck.

Problem on logic need ur help so bad

hi im kindda new to logic and i hope my english's fine ... i got logic on my macbook pro for like only 2 weeks
im runnin it in some big show based on the logic project , every time i tried it in home nothing bad happend but when i get to large stages with bass vibrations after 2 or 3 songs i get "disk too slow" problem and after clickin 3-4 times "continue" logic seems to be ok .

well if u wanna know , after i got no replys i found a thread talkin about disabling the "sms" thing on mac ,
it workd like a magic just got back from 2 gigs in one night logic was workin perfect , this "disk too slow" error is gone and i can run multitrack and record in any enviroment . hope this help's other people in the future coz this problem was a real pain in the *** .

Stylus RMX and Logic Express

I'm using stylus rmx with LE. I'm stuck. I'm tryin to create a "multi-track", (I believe thats what its called). Right now I'm following a instructional dvd and the instructor just wire 8 tracks to 1 in the enviro window. So I followed and drew all the wires to the 8 inputs. Then back in the arrange window, (and heres where I get lost). He fella goes to the "track" option and selects " create with new instrument". Now he creates * tracks from the 1 pug in. I'm assuming that he's using Logic Pro because I dont have that option. Is there another way to acheive this without that option ?

This doesn't sound right. You should be creating a multi-instrument in the Environment with 8 channels enabled, not 8 individual instruments. There only needs to be one multi-instrument assigned to a single instrument track (one wire) in the environment. Make sure to assign the midi channel to "all" for the instrument object, but enable the first 8 channels on the multi-instrument object.
Then, when you're back in the Arrange page, you can create a new instrument track for the Stylus L/R audio output and then create new midi tracks assigned as sub-channels to Stylus. Each sub-channel will then control a different part in Stylus.
There is a Quicktime video you can download for free from Spectrasonics that walks you through setting up Stylus in Logic. Maybe your DVD makes it harder than it needs to be...

Repository file acts differently in another enviroment

We are using OBIEE 10.1.3.4. We have combined multiple facts in single Subject area. It works fine in our "development enviroment" (Does joins only when needed). However when i transfer this Repository file to our "testing enviroment" it creates unnessary joins. Has anyone seen this kind of behaviour and know where the problem is? How can i trouble shoot this ?

When you notice that the BI Server is unnecessary joins, the first point of suspicion is the "LTS".
Most of the times, we might be combining many tables to one logical table. In this case, we should almost have one LTS for each table and also LTS for combining table.
Suppose, two tables "A" and "B" are merged into one but with only one LTS as "A inner join B". So, when a report requests for columns from "A" alone, the BI Server still does the inner join with "B" because it has got no other way to go.
I suspect the same thing in your case too. Hope this helps.

Large import on dataguard (logical standby) 11.2

The action I'll like to perform is to do a large import on the production enviroment without that this import will be applied on the logical-standby environment (because its to large for the standby envoriment to keep it up) and after that I will do this same import on the logical standby.
What the most common way to do this large import on logical standby enviroment after this is performed on the produnction ?

alter session disable guard;
do the import
alter session enable guard;
alter database start logical standby apply skip failed transaction;

if the table you are importing will have changes made to it AFTER the import and you want those changes replicated to the logical standby then you have to actually re-sync the table FROM primary.
Step 1. Skip the table DML on logical
EXECUTE DBMS_LOGSTDBY.SKIP(stmt => 'DML', schema_name => 'schema', object_name =>'table_name');
Step 2. Import the table into primary
Step 3. Stop Logical Standby apply
alter database recover managed standby database cancel;
Step 4. Get the restart_scn on Logical Standby to use for the flashback scn with exp_dp
SELECT RESTART_SCN FROM V$LOGSTDBY_PROGRESS;
Step 5. On Primary export the table using the restart_scn from logical
expdp DIRECTORY=DP_DIR DUMPFILE=sync_table.dmp LOGFILE=sync_table.log tables=schema.table_name flashback_scn=6146375299983
Step 6. On Logical import the table
impdp DIRECTORY=DP_DIR dumpfile=sync_table.dmp TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=REPLACE
Step 7. Unskip the table and start the apply on logical standby
EXECUTE DBMS_LOGSTDBY.UNSKIP(stmt => 'DML', schema_name => 'schema', object_name =>'table_name');
alter database start logical standby apply immediate;
Now the tables should both be synced up and any new changes made to the table on primary will replicate correctly to logical.
Note that oracle must maintain a read consistent copy of the table as of the SCN you specified, depending on how long it takes to export you may run into rollback segment issues. I'd plan on doing this during the least busy time on your db and increase undo to avoid ORA-01555

MULTI OUTS for 3rd party plugins in Logic Pro (8)

I am using Logic Pro 8 on a dual g5 Mac and am trying to use a multi-channel and multi-timbral software instrument Spectrasonics Stylus RMX 1.5. This worked fine in Logic 7 but now I only have output A (a stereo output) and cannot assign to Aux channels in the enviroment window. Has any one come across the same problem ?
