Logic Express 7.0.1 Update/Upgrade

Hello,
I have Logic Express version 7.0.1 and never did get the "paid" upgrade to Logic Express version 7.1 (or was it version 7.2?). I'm wondering what the latest version of Logic Express 7 is and how I would go about getting the update/upgrade to 7.1 (or 7.2)?
I use GarageBand most of the time and don't use Logic Express a lot so I don't really want to fork out the cash to move to version 8 but it would be nice to see it updated somehow. Logic Express 7.0.1 seems to work fine on 10.5.6 for me, by the way.
I just can't seem to find any info on Apple's website about the version 7.1 (or 7.2) update/upgrade.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

I don't see any problem with trying LE7 in a Leopard environment. Usually newer OS have backwards compatibility with older software. However, just in case, have all your valuable data backed up before upgrading. With all bases covered you can easily revert to the old setup if something goes wrong under Leopard. The only thing you can lose is time spent to re-install Tiger and LE7.

Cannot Install Logic Express 9.0.1 Update

I tried to install the 9.0.1 update but I keep getting a message "An eligible Logic Express Version was not found in the Applications Folder. This Update requires Logic Express version 9.0." when I try to install it.
I have a copy of Logic 9 Express that I bought from the Apple Store & there is a copy in the Applications folder that I installed as a default location.
This was an upgrade from Logic 7. I may have shortened the name to "Logic Express" & I also have the copy of Logic 7 still in my Application Folder.
Any help would be appreciated.

Is your version 9.0 registered and functioning properly? If so, I see no reason why the update installer does not recognize it . . . as long as you installed the original application to the default Applications folder and did not move it later, and did not rename the file. Also, be sure you have not moved or renamed any support files (Library/Application Support/Logic, etc.).
Having both LE7 and LE9 in your Applications folder should be okay. I have "Logic Express 8" and "Logic Express" in mine ("Logic Express" being version 9) and I was able to update to 9.0.1.
Unless somebody else has a solution, you might try reinstalling LE9 and then the 9.0.1 update again.

Logic Express 9.1.2 update Wont Install on 9.0.1 version

I'm getting an error message when trying to update to 9.1.2. My current version of Logic Express is 9.0.1. Here is the error message displayed:
Alert
An eligible Logic Express Version was not found in the Applications Folder.
This Update requires Logic Express version 9.0 or h*igher.

OK, I really dislike reinstalling when an app is working perfectly. But having trawled through user groups and Apples help files - it became evident that this was the next logical step. So I reinstalled version 9.0.0. It worked! It then accepted the upgrade to 9.1.2 without a hitch. So i guess this is the solution

If I upgrade to this will my machine then run Logic Express 8, or will it do as it does now and just act like it is starting by bouncing the icon in the dock then stopping? At the moment I cannot run Adobe CS3 Design/Web Premium or my Logic Express 8. Please Help!!!

As a general rule the minumum system requirements listed for a software are just that, the minimum required for the effective use of the program. If you make the changes you're talking about you may be able to run the program but it will probably not run well. I'm running Express 8 on a 1.83GHz intel iMac with 2 gigs ram. My current project involves only seven software instruments and six enternal midi tracks (which use almost no cpu) and I'm still nearing %70 on my cpu meter. Before I finish I will definately be freezing tracks to free up cpu. My system is much faster and double the ram of what you're talking about. If you really want to run Express 8 properly you will probably need to replace your computer.

Upgrade from Logic Express 9 to 9.01 - Upgrade wont recognize my software although it is in the application folder. Any ideas?

My Logic Express 9.0 is definetly in the Applications folder but the upgrade doesnt find it or says that it is ineligable. Any ideas?

Make sure that your Logic Express app is a) in the Applications Folder (and not in another folder inside Applications), and b) that it is named "Logic Express" with no numbers or spaces after the name.

Logic express 7.2.0 update. need help!

anybody know where I can find the 7.2.0 update? I've been stuck on the 7.1.1 version for awhile and have been trying to find the 7.2.0 with no luck. Its not even on the support site. I just got an iMac and need to update to the latest version so it can run on intel. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Logic Express 7 Upgrade to Studio

Hi
I'm a Logic Express 7 that wants to upgrade to Logic Pro (currently Studio). I went to an Apple store today and the genius told me this upgrade, which lists on the web for 299 is no longer available because a new Logic Pro is coming out and upgrading from 7 Express wont be possible with this version.
Are you aware of this? What should I do? Wait for a new Logic Pro/Studio to come out and buy it from scratch? I would hate to pay full price when I have paid for the Express already... the upgrade to Logic Studio from Express is still available online but at the same time I wouldn't want to upgrade to a program which will become 'old' in a few weeks..

Logic Express Academic Update?

Hello, my school recently purchased Logic Express 7.0.1. ACADEMIC. I've downloaded the Logic Express 7.2.1 update, but it doesn't work with my Academic version of the software. I need the 7.2.1 bug fixes, any suggestions? Thanks much.

You may also update for 7.1.1 first, but try to see if you can have for free as you got it now.
Logic 7.0 has about a year, I wonder how come you have an old version?

Opening GarageBand project in Logic Express 9.

Just loaded Logic Express 9. Trying to open GarageBand project I get "Sorry, can't load this project because it is created by a newer Logic Express version. Please update Logic Express." I was under the impression that any GB project could be opened in LE9. Any suggestions?

You don't specify but have you updated LE to v.9.1.7?
Sometimes Logic can be a little picky as to how you open the song file, so if one method doesn't work, try another. For example:
1) Drag the GB file onto the LE icon.
2) Right-click on the GB file and choose "open with Logic Express."
3) Select the GB file from Logic's Browser tab in the Media window on the right.
I'm assuming that you already tried File>Open from the LE menu bar.
Once you do manage to open your GB file inside LE you will be required to save it as a Logic file.

Logic Express (7.2) Installation problem

Hi, I had an iBook running Logic Express 7.1 and recently upgraded to a MacBook so I sent away for the 7.2 crossgrade, which arrived today. I put in the first disc which ran through the installation and prompted me to insert the content dvd, however the MacBook doesn't seem to recognise the content dvd and spits it out after a minute, leaving me to have to cancel the installation!
What's happening!? Anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?

Maybe your content DVD is damaged?
I have had this problem with other software (not Logic) where a CD or DVD is damaged.
Can you insert it in to another computer? Sometimes a DVD will work fine on one computer, but not another.
If you can get another Mac to recognize it, you may be able to use Disk Utility to create a disk image of that DVD and move it to your MacPro via a network, or even install it across a network which I've never tried.
If it is damaged, you'll have to call Apple who I'm sure will send you a replacement. If you're anywhere near an Apple store, take your MacPro and the disks to the genius bar and let them get you running.

How do I get the KORG KLCDE VSTi into Logic Express ... ?

I assume you have bought the Mac Version, have installed it and registered it?
I also assume you have read the installation instructions on the Korg website?
Usually, external digital Instruments are triggered by Logic via the AU (audio units) protocol. So, during the installation, the Korg Installer should have installed an AU version of the KLCDE onto your Mac. If it is installed in the right place, Logic should have recognized it during the next startup and should have validated it.
If all this is done, you can access it as any other software instrument. Look under the AU instruments submenu.
If not, Korg might have better answers than i have. You should ask them.

Reaktor & Razor latest with Logic Express 9 Setup Help!

I'm a semi newb to Apple Mac's I have a MacBookPro 8.1 4GB Ram - Logic Express 9 with all updates to Mac and Logic.
I just got Native Instruments Reaktor and Razor Synth but there is very little help for Logic users in the Documentation,
I managed to setup a new track as an EXTERNAL INSTRUMENT and managed to get REAKTOR configured to that track as an insert,
I can get my keyboard to record the Midi notes from my USB midi keyboard BUT it's not triggering Razor yet :/ .
I have tried Busing the output from Razor to Logic with no luck,
I tried side-chaining to Logic from Razor as well but did not succeed either,
I am trying to make a template to set me up an running faster, I use an M-Audio Firewire Soundcard all running ok with its own template.
KIT LIST: Maschine Hardware Control Interface, NI Reaktor Razor, Korg Prophecy Keyboard (old school midi) Analogue Input on soundcard,
USB Keyboards Edirol PCR-M1 , M-Audio Axiom 25 USB control keyboard.
I would really appreciate any help getting Razor going properly, Im almost there.. cheers for now.

I found NI Reaktor and Razor had to Add New Track as Software Instrument then I had to link to Reaktor via the I/O inputs further down the Mixer panel strip for that new track as an AUinstrument alot of trial and error, but I sust it all out though, now to play with midi. cheers

Deleting plug ins + Logic Express

Hi I have recently bought Logic 8 studio and dont need logic express 7. i cant seem to delete the entire program. does anyone know how to completely wipe Logic express 7 from the system drive?
also im using Toontrack's DFH Superior drum sample plug in. i dont need this anymore and would like to uninstall this too. how do you unistall audio plug ins on a mac?

Another approach you might consider is reinstalling Logic Express. To do this effectively, you need to remove the application and its receipts, then install Logic Express and use Software Update to install additional updates. You don't have to remove everything that was installed with Logic Express. Follow the steps below to completely reinstall a fresh copy of Logic Express. Note: Make sure that you have your installation discs and serial number handy before starting this.
Open the Applications folder.
Drag the Logic Express application to the Trash.
Go to /Library/Receipts.
In the Receipts folder, select the "Logic Express.pkg" file.
Choose View > as List to view the contents in a list.
Click the Date Modified column header so you can easily see all of the receipts that were installed at the same time as Logic Express.
Drag the Logic Express.pkg receipt to the Trash, as well as any other items that have the same modification date within 3 minutes of the Logic Express.pkg's modification date.
Click the Name column header to sort the list alphabetically.
Drag any other receipts whose names begin with "Logic Express" to the Trash.
Insert your Logic Express installation disc and install Logic Express.
When finished, use Software Update (under the Apple menu) to update your software to the latest version.
It concerns removing Logic Express and reinstalling as a troubleshooting measure. However I would assume you could use it as a guide in just plain uninstalling.

It was 7.2.3 (961.9). I still use it along side 8.0.2 (1502.22)…
Because the files in both LE7 & LE8 get huge when they are edited, but unlike in LE7, there is no way to bring the file back to it's proper size. A 350 KB song in LE8 can get to be many MBs, so I'm forced to build the song in LE7 where I can save the final version twice, which brings the file back to it's proper size. I can then open it in LE8 and edit only the few parameters that I've learned don't increase the file's size. The amount of extra work this made transferring 700+ files from Cubase is beyond belief. I needed to get software to preserve LE8 file creation dates for the many files I had to make small changes to in LE7 and import a 'new' file into LE8. And after every 5 times I open LE7, I'm asked to register the application. I had to click that box off the screen over 2500 times.

HT1338 How to update Logic Express 9.0.1 after migrating to Lion?

I just migrated from Snow Leopard to Lion and now can't open or upgrade Logic Express 9.0.1 to a Lion version. How can I upgrade the software to the latest version? Software update doesn't show anything. I've migrated using my Time Machine backup from my Macbook running latest Snow Leopard.

You just need to update your App to the newer version that is compatible with Lion.
