Logic Express 7.2 Installation on Intel Mac

I've got the latest upgrades installed I think, and tried to install logic on a freshly reinstalled Mac, but always get this error:
There was an error, try reinstalling Logic. (or something close to it). It happens during installation of Garage Band Effect Loops. Any ideas why? Could be bad content DVD? I just purchased the software.

Will the program itself run?
The content DVD isn't essential to the running of logic, by the time you're installing that stuff you should have already installed the logic application. Check that it is on there and that it works, then maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling.

  • How to connect my Alesis to Logic Express Pro, running on an Intel Mac Mini

    Hi,
would anyone possibly have an idea how to connect my Alesis Multimix 8 USB to Logic Express 7,2?
The Alesis has a USB out. But I don't see anything in the L/E documentation on USB connections.
    I'm hopeful there's another way.
    Thanks very much.

LE documentation won't give instructions for use of 3rd party equipment, except possibly generically.
Have you downloaded the latest drivers? If it is a USB item, perhaps you are meant to plug in the USB cable rather than wishing it was something else.

  • Logic Express (7.2) Installation problem

Hi, I had an iBook running Logic Express 7.1 and recently upgraded to a MacBook so I sent away for the 7.2 crossgrade, which arrived today. I put in the first disc which ran through the installation and prompted me to insert the content dvd, however the MacBook doesn't seem to recognise the content dvd and spits it out after a minute, leaving me to have to cancel the installation!
What's happening!? Anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?
    Cheers

Maybe your content DVD is damaged?
I have had this problem with other software (not Logic) where a CD or DVD is damaged.
Can you insert it in to another computer? Sometimes a DVD will work fine on one computer, but not another.
If you can get another Mac to recognize it, you may be able to use Disk Utility to create a disk image of that DVD and move it to your MacPro via a network, or even install it across a network which I've never tried.
If it is damaged, you'll have to call Apple who I'm sure will send you a replacement. If you're anywhere near an Apple store, take your MacPro and the disks to the genius bar and let them get you running.

  • No total recall after change from Windows Logic Platinum 5.5.1 to Intel Mac

    Hi Logic-users,
up to now I was using Logic 5.5.1 on a Windows-PC. Some days ago I changed over to Intel Mac and Logic 7.2.3. When opening a 5.5.1-Song it is converted from ASIO to Core Audio. But then I got a problem with spectrasonics Stylus RMX which I use as a drum-plugin. It was a VST-plugin in Logic 5.5.1 and is now the new Intel-nac-Version (audio-unit-plugin) in Logic 7.2.3. The MIDI-data is in the Logic-tracks but the problem is: the program doesn't use the new Stylus version automatically - there is only the outcrossed name "Stylus" in the Logic-channel. I have to activate it by hand - and then all the drum-channels within Stylus are empty. That means: I have to re-edit all the Stylus-drumsounds and -settings by hand.
What can I do to get real total recall? Or is simply not possible because I had too much change altogether (new OSX-platform / new Logic-version / new plugin-version)?
    Best regards,
    Thomas

    Thomas,
I'm pretty sure you're out of luck on this one, I'm afraid. The differences are to much to be able to translate from one to the other.
We all went through it when we switched from Mac OS9 to OSX. Then we all had to go through it again when Logic went to Audio Units.
If it was a matter of VST in OSX, you could probably open it up in Logic with Fxpansions VST to AU wrapper, but I don't think you'll bee able to get it from the PC VST version to the Mac OSX VST version.
You'll have to try and recreate the RMX settings by hand. Tedious, I know, especially if you had done a lot of editing.
Another option would be to open the song on your PC, and bounce the various RMX parts to audio files, and re-import those into Logic 7. I know that's not the same, but if you were done with the programming aspect of that song, it could at least get you the sounds back.
If anyone has information to the contrary, I'd love to hear about it. But this is how I understand it to be...
    Sorry.

  • ? migrating from Logic 8 on PPC, to Logic 9.1 Mountain Lion, new Intel Mac

I'm migrating from a non-Intel Mac G5 PPC  with retail Logic Pro 7 installed and also the upgrade to Logic 8.
What is the best way to install Logic on my newly acquired July 2011 Quad-Core Mac Mini Server ( MMS ) ?
I have the original install disks for Logic Pro 7 retail and also the upgrade disks for Logic Studio 8 Upgrade Box retail.
Can I install Logic Pro 7 first onto the MMS and then install the Logic 8 disk and then install the Box set Logic Studio 9 upgrade ?

An important piece of information is required.
What version of OSX is on the 2011 Mac-Mini?
If it's Snow Leopard you're probably ok, if any version of Lion or ML is installed you're in for some work.

    Hi,
    thank you for the reply.
I spoke to an apple genius the other day and he mentioned that i could use the old mac wirelessly to load logic express on my new mac, without the need for transferring and using up memory on the new drive?

  • Logic Pro 8 PPC Songfiles on Intel Macs?

    Dear fellow board members,
did anyone experiance problems with a Logic 8 Song file, that was created and saved with Logic 8 on a PPC-Mac, and which has then been opened on Logic 8 on an Intel-Mac? Would I be save to create my Logic 8 Autoload Song (With Plug-Ins, Instruments, Busses, Aux', etc.) on my G5 PPC now, and later import it to a MacPro, when I would switch to an Intel MacPro?
I would be happy if you want to share your ideas or experiances!

  • Logic 7.1 on intel mac

i have got logic express 7.1 on a intel mac, i believe i need to have 7.2, where do i find this?

thanks, seems a long winded road to go, do you really have to send your disc off to get the update, they have a crossgrade fulfillment in the shop for £19.95. which you can buy it now, is that the same thing? will they just send you a disc?

  • Some organs don't play in new Logic Express files after JamPacks installed

After loading only the instruments from the Symphony Orchestra and World Music GarageBand Jam Packs, I lost the ability to hear most of the organs available in Logic Express and all of the organs available in GarageBand after inserting them into Logic Express tracks. These same organ sounds still play in any Logic Express file set up prior to the installation of the JamPacks and they continue to play in GarageBand. Can an uninstall/reinstall of Logic Express 7.2.3 be a fix for this or is there an easier way to return the lost instruments to Logic Express?
1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Midisport 4x4, iControl

The loss of instrument sounds in Logic Express had nothing to do with the installation of GarageBand JamPacks. The midi channel setting in the Inspector box of the Arrange window in Logic Express needed to be set to channel 1 to get midi data from other than channel 1 to play some of the inserted CoreAudio instruments. I don't understand what's going on but now I'm able to get the instruments that would not play.

  • MIDI editing with Logic Express (Thinking about buying Express)

I currently use GarageBand to write songs using MIDI. When I want to finalize a song, I use Pro Tools to give it some gentle limiting. I'd use Pro Tools exclusively, but I find GB so easy to use that I can't see myself bothering with PT for MIDI.
How are the MIDI editing capabilities on Logic Express? How would they compare in terms of ease of use versus GarageBand (and Pro Tools, for that matter)? Is there another program out there that's great for MIDI editing/programing? Can GarageBand export MIDI (I doubt, though...).
[ I wish I could use the software instruments found (free) in Pro Tools with GarageBand, seeing as how I'd have a little more to choose from and a bit higher quality. How would you rate the software intruments found in Logic Express? ]
MacBook (2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 677 MHz)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   GarageBand & Pro Tools

    Hi Jose,
My version of Protools is 6.4, so the midi editing in Logic Express,
is far better, if you like GarageBand you'll probably Love Express,
apart from the learning curve everything's better.
Better than Express only Logic pro.
Every sound you have in GB you have in Logic ( I believe they share the same audio engine) but with the benefit the plug-ins (32 bits internal process it sounds better) also you can twick the sounds, plus you have Soft synths and sampler with loads of new sounds.
    Cheers,
    Jorge

  • Loops in Logic Express

First of all I best say that I am new to Logic Express and Garageband, in fact the Mac thing so forgive the basic nature of this post. I have had some funny goings on with my mac since a failed software install so I decided to rebuild everything including the OS. Having re-installed Garageband and Logic Express I find most of the loops are missing. Some are there but all drum loops and others have gone. I tried to look up options to see if there is a tick box to install them but nothing. If I look in library, the loop directory is also missing. Can anyone suggest anything?
    Thanks
    Tetleyted

Thanks for the reply. took a look but the directory structure as follows: HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/User Loops (Apple doesn't exist. I have a feeling that garageband and Logic Express hasn't completed the install. I have tried to re-run it but the same thing happened - no loops. Any suggestions welcomed.

  • Can i use a pre-intel as a node with an intel mac?

    as the subject-title

I wonder if anyone has tried this setup:
Master: PowerMac Gigabit Ethernet Dual 450 10.3.9 and Logic Pro 7.1.1
Node: Intel Mac Mini Core Duo 1.66 10.4.6 and Logic Pro 7.2.1
I cannot get this setup to work. The Powermac fails in Logic's startup to recognise the node (properly connected and not firewalled, connect to server shows both machines).
I don't suppose that I need to be running Tiger on both machines? I hope not. I like Panther on old machines.

  • Uninstalling Academic version of Logic Express

I have an academic copy of Logic express on my Macbook pro and retail version on my iMac. I purchased Logic Pro 8 upgrade and just found out I can only upgrade my retail version. Any ideas on how to uninstall the Academic version from my Macbook Pro so I can install Logic Pro on my newer machine? I have tried trashing(to uninstall) the academic version and using the "upgrade" install feature from my retail disk. I have done this twice and after upgrading from the retail LE disks, I still see the academic splash screen. I haven't reid, but assume I won't be able to upgrade since the screen still indicates "academic". What files do I have to remove to rid my Macbook Pro of its Academic license assumption.
    Digital Telecaster

So I don't REALLY know what I'm talking about, but my understanding is that when you install the Logic Pro 8 upgrade, you just need to put in the serial number of your Logic Express during the installation process. I'm just wondering if you even need to mess with trying to install LE on your MBP. What happens if you just do the LP install and put in your retail LE serial when prompted?
I'm curious to know, as I have an old version of LE which isn't installed, and I'm hoping I can use the serial for installation without actually installing LE on my machine.
