Logic Express (7.2) Installation problem

Hi, I had an iBook running Logic Express 7.1 and recently upgraded to a MacBook so I sent away for the 7.2 crossgrade, which arrived today. I put in the first disc which ran through the installation and prompted me to insert the content dvd, however the MacBook doesn't seem to recognise the content dvd and spits it out after a minute, leaving me to have to cancel the installation!
What's happening!? Anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?
Cheers

Maybe your content DVD is damaged?
I have had this problem with other software (not Logic) where a CD or DVD is damaged.
Can you insert it in to another computer? Sometimes a DVD will work fine on one computer, but not another.
If you can get another Mac to recognize it, you may be able to use Disk Utility to create a disk image of that DVD and move it to your MacPro via a network, or even install it across a network which I've never tried.
If it is damaged, you'll have to call Apple who I'm sure will send you a replacement. If you're anywhere near an Apple store, take your MacPro and the disks to the genius bar and let them get you running.

  • Logic Express/Emagic emi6/2m problem

I've recently started having a problem with my iBook/Logic Express (7.1.1) and Emagic emi6/2m audio interface. I'm getting regular audio pops and clicks when playing my synth plug-ins (it happens with all the ones I've got) and only happens when I play them 'live' so to speak (ie not when playing back a part that I've already recorded). I don't think it's a RAM/CPU problem because it hasn't happened in the past and the CPU meter doesn't seem to be going very high most of the time. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the problem has only started since updating to OSX 10.4.6. I've downloaded the latest driver for the audio interface but it hasn't helped. Has anybody out there using a similar set-up had the same problem? Any suggestions gratefully received (maybe I have to update to LE7.2). .

No big deal.....A friend of mine has an emi2/6.
He experiences audio drop outs, now and then.
    (Especially at low buffer settings)
Then I realized he has no power adapter connected, (He lost his).
It seems you don´t use that either.
Maybe, just maybe, the emi doesn´t get enough power from
the USB port. After all the emi is old and USB1, only.

  • Express install VISE installer problem

Some of us are having a problem on OSX where the express
installer quits after prompting the user to close his browser
regardless of what action the user takes. This does not happen with
the updaters you get manually from the Adobe site; only with the
express installer. I did some checking to see what the difference
might be and I found that the express installer is VISE X version
2.0 while the manual installers are VISE X 3.0. My guess is that
there is a bug in VISE X 2.0 that is causing the problem. If this
is indeed the problem, can someone from Adobe update the installer
    to v3.0?

Found the answer to my own problem:
    from:
    http://weblogs.macromedia.com/emmy/archives/2006/08/announcing_flas.cfm
*Express Install will not work for updating the Flash Player
8 preview release (8.0.17.0 or 8.0.27.0) to the latest. Users
should go directly to the Player Download Center to install the
    latest release.

  • Logic Express 7.2 Installation on Intel Mac

I've got the latest upgrades installed I think, and tried to install logic on a freshly reinstalled Mac, but always get this error:
There was an error, try reinstalling Logic. (or something close to it). It happens during installation of Garage Band Effect Loops. Any ideas why? Could be bad content DVD? I just purchased the software.

    Will the program itself run?
The content DVD isn't essential to the running of logic, by the time you're installing that stuff you should have already installed the logic application. Check that it is on there and that it works, then maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling.

  • Logic Express 7.2 Rewire Problem

I have only had this problem since getting 7.2. Whenever I set a channel up to Rewire, I can only hear the sound from the channel while the song is playing. Used to, I could play my keyboard and hear sounds from Reason while in Logic. I don't know what is going on. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Mikal

This is definitely a Logic bug. I solved the problem with a workaround. Here's how to make it happen if anyone else is having this problem.
    Reason Rewire Fix
    Do in this order
If none exists in the current song, create an internal Logic synth instrument channel.
Select a Logic synth on an instrument track (make sure any instrument in Reason is unselected on the Reason side) and play a few notes with a midi keyboard or the capslock keyboard.
If needed, start transport and then stop and check to make sure sound still plays when transport stopped.
Once sound is heard on the Logic internal synth, you should be able to select a rewire track and it should play all the time, even when transport is stopped.
I'm surprised Apple/Emagic doesn't know about this. I sincerely hope they fix it in the next upgrade. I've spent dozens of hours of troubleshooting to get to this point, but I can make it work now every time, without exeption. I can reproduce the problem and the fix every time.

  • Uninstalling Academic version of Logic Express

I have an academic copy of Logic express on my Macbook pro and retail version on my iMac. I purchased Logic Pro 8 upgrade and just found out I can only upgrade my retail version. Any ideas on how to uninstall the Academic version from my Macbook Pro so I can install Logic Pro on my newer machine? I have tried trashing(to uninstall) the academic version and using the "upgrade" install feature from my retail disk. I have done this twice and after upgrading from the retail LE disks, I still see the academic splash screen. I haven't reid, but assume I won't be able to upgrade since the screen still indicates "academic". What files do I have to remove to rid my Macbook Pro of its Academic license assumption.
    Digital Telecaster

So I don't REALLY know what I'm talking about, but my understanding is that when you install the Logic Pro 8 upgrade, you just need to put in the serial number of your Logic Express during the installation process. I'm just wondering if you even need to mess with trying to install LE on your MBP. What happens if you just do the LP install and put in your retail LE serial when prompted?
I'm curious to know, as I have an old version of LE which isn't installed, and I'm hoping I can use the serial for installation without actually installing LE on my machine.

  • How to run Amp Farm in Logic Express 8?

I'm new to all this so any help would be greatly appreciated! . . . . . .
Im running Logic Express 8 without any problems, I've just installed Line 6 Amp Farm and that runs without a problem. The problem I am having is-
I want to run Logic and use the sounds/amps from Amp Farm but cant figure out how to do it? I've searched the net and cant find anything about how to do it, I've also had a good look through the Logic user guide but had no luck. . . . . . .
    HELP PLEASE!
    John.

Heres where I'm at so far-
I've been into Logic and opened Preferences/Audio Units Manager and then validated Pod Farm.
I go into Browser and Library on the far right to find tones on the far right of the Logic interface, I can find all the Garageband tones/sounds and all the Logic tones/Sounds but there's nothing related to line 6 Farm. The only way I can get into the line 6 stuff is to use the browser and go - Documents/Line 6/Tones/Pod Farm/Guitar/then into the folders where the tones are but the folders seem empty.
I know the folders aren't empty because if I go into them normally, not using Logic, all the tones are there in the relevant folders and when they are clicked on it opens Pod farm.

  • Final Cut Studio 2 Apple Loops, Jam Packs and Logic express 8 installation?

    Hi(Bonjour)!
I've currently use Final Cut Studio 2 +Soundtrack Pro 2.0.2+ application with all included Apple Loops.
I own several Jam Pack Apple Loops packages (with a less than impressive integration with Garage Band for older one).
I purchased Logic Express 8 pro today.
Is there more Apple Loops files included with Logic express 8 than with Soundtrack Pro 2?
What is the best way to install Logic express 8 Apple Loops to avoid duplicate loops files?
    Thank You.
    Michel Boissonneault

Well, the installation was very simple, no duplicate files and tight integration of GarageBand loops and JamPacks.

  • Logic Express 8 and OSX 10.6.5 Problems...

    Hi,
I just did a fresh install of all of my software on my iMac.
Previously had it running 10.6.4 and everything an fine.
Now that I've reinstalled and upgraded to 10.6.5 Logic Express won't work.
Anyone else having this problem? Am I just ging to have to upgrade to 9?
I don't really want to as I mainly use Pro Tools and just use logic for drum machines and synths...
    Anyway! Any help is appreciated!

I'm running 10.6.5 and LE 8 and it works for me. Of course I have a new imac that came installed with 10.6.5 and I installed LE on it. Maybe you can re-install LE. But hopefully there is another solution. I too don't really want to upgrade to LE 9 if I don't have to.

  • Problems recording using Logic Express 9

    Hi everybody,
I'm a new Mac user. I'm a musician and I recently started to use a home studio for small projects.
Lately, I acquired some nice microphones to record a classical guitar and other acoustic instruments through Logic. However, something's going wrong and I can't make it work.
Before I describe the problem, let me tell you what I use:
    - iMac (OS Lion 10.7)
    - Logic Express 9
    - m-audio Fast track ultra
    - Rode NT5 condenser microphones
    Problem:
As stated before, I'm having trouble using my microphones. Logic just doesn't hear the signal. However, if I plug a guitar directly into the m-audio box andf then into Logic, I can record no problem. Same thing if I use an electric piano (Yamaha P-95) into the m-audio box then into Logic with the Midi sound bank, everything's fine! It all goes dead when I plug in the microphones. The weird thing is that I can hear and see the signal through the m-audio box using headphones. However, Logic doesn't even show me a sign of any activity. I thought it had something to do with the Phantom power, but no. I tried and nothing. My guess is that something needs to be activated in Logic but I just can't find it.
    Anybody with an idea?
    thanks
    CJ

    Hi,
no worries, these are all good suggestions to check out.
Actually, I did all of this already, but the problem was somewhere else....
I finally found what it was. The m-audio has a software that has a board control and the "software returns" signal was off.
Also, a good "restart" of my computer made things a bit easier.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Problem while trying logic express

I have to decide if I prefer logic to dp5, so i got logic express trial and it seems
pretty friendly but !! I got an error message: error while syncronizing with midi.
and also logic xpress rarely reconized or load audiocore properly.
Dp5 ? works ok but craches all the time...
    Kind of lost a bit...
    thanks
    pc   Windows XP Pro

I solved the problem. The problem was that my network was crypted by WPA2-PSK(TKIP), wich is not compatible with the  AirPort. I re-crypted my network with WPA2-PSK(AES), and it works now.

  • Logic 8 Pro Installation/ Logic Express 8 uninstallation question

Is there any reason I need to keep Logic Express 8 installed after I install Logic Pro 8 ? I was hoping to free up some space...
I am installing Logic Pro 8 as I type this. I can hardly wait to use it.
    ; )

The easiest way is just to drag the LE folder from Applications into the trash.
There may be some preferences but it doesn't matter if you leave them. Ditto for files in Application Support. There may also be jam packs, templates and other user data lying around but there is no simple way of locating and deleting the lot.
If you're paranoid, use spotlight to find anything with Logic Express in the filename and trash that. Still won't be complete, however.
    Think about this:
You use MS Word. You create lots of docs, download templates, perhaps clip-art and word-art. You create your own dictionary and add auto-correction tables. You customise the program and store things all over the hard drive. No installation program is going to find all the things that you've dotted around. Ditto for Logic Express. Just trash the app and leave the rest to rot. It's a small number of megabytes (unless you've installed Jam Packs) and that's peanuts compared to your likely storage.
    Don't worry; be happy ;o)
    Pete

  • Logic Express 7.2.1 + MacBook: sleep problem?

Here's the thing: I'm using Logic Express on my MacBook, and it works just fine (a few audio tracks and Logic softsynths). However, if I put the machine to sleep with Logic still open, the next time I wake the machine, there is no sound generated from Logic! The meters all show activity, but I can't hear anything...
I have tried restarting the Core audio driver within Logic, but this makes no difference; the only solution is to quit Logic and restart, at which point it all works fine again...
Anyone else found this problem? I'm not using any external devices, just built-in audio.
    Thanks,

    Hi Niili,
I have the same problem with a digi drivers too,
I didn't have a clue on how to to deal with iet,
    you wanna laght?
When I use Protools Le, I can have lower buffers without problem,
    not with logic!
It problably have to do with the drivers.
I'll get back to you, if I have better news.
I'll hope the you do the same if you discover a turn around it.

  • I lost my logic express installation cd, i have the serial number and support ID, what can i do?

    Hey guys!
I bought a new mac computer and i wanted to install my logic express 9 on this one, but when i open the box i see theres no installation disk and i have no idea where it might be so is there anything i can do to get the installation? i have the serial number and apple support ID
Thank you! hope anyone can help me out

Apple apparently doesn't do email support. You could try sending an email to Apple corporate and see if it kicks up any dust. Otherwise, see if you can contact the place you purchased the software.
    good luck,
