Logic Express 8 glitches with Mountain Lion - will I lose stuff if I re-install?

I use Logic Express 8, but it has been acting up since I upgraded my iMac from Leopard through Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. The sliders for navigating around my song projects are not working properly, which makes it difficult to zoom in on details. The program also crashes every time I use Flex-Time. Anyone know why this is and what I should do? I have a large amount of stored music projects on my Mac and, although they're backed up on Time Machine, I'm afraid that if I re-installed Logic Express 8 I might lose all this material and have nightmares getting it back.

    HI. ...
Anyone know of any issues with using Logic Pro music software with Mountain lion OS..
I have heard rumours in the past is that all sorted now?

At least Logic Pro 9 and Logic Pro X work correctly in Mountain Lion. Furthermore, Logic Pro X requires the latest OS X Mountain Lion version

you have "logic express" 9.0.0 "
    please help!!

    Hi
First, you are going to need v9.1.7 or later with Mountain Lion (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5421)
    Second
To get the updaters to work several things MUST be correct:
The Logic Application must be named "Logic Pro" or "Logic Express" (depending on which type you are working with) with NO Additional spaces or numbers in the name.
The application must be at the root level of the Applications folder (and NOT anywhere else).

  • Does Logic Pro 9 work with Mountain Lion?

    Hey!
    I was wondering...
My computer has Snow Leopard installed and i would really like to get Mountain Lion. BUT there is a problem... I don't know if Logic Pro 9 will with Mountain Lion. Can anybody help me with it? And also does Logic Pro 8 and the microsoft pack (word, powerpoint, excel etc. 2011) work too? Please help me if you know it
    THANK YOU
    Cheers
    - Kufax

Since I'm not in the middle of anything critical and have multiple backups, I decided to take the plunge and upgrade. I've only been running for an hour or so, but here's where I am:
2008 MacPro, 8x2.8Ghz, 16Gb RAM. SSL MADI PCIe card for I/O. Logic 9.1.7
Tested with a couple of recent, decent size projects (40+ tracks, VIs and plugins). Not seeing any perormance differences.
    Working:
    - Euphonix MC Mix
    - UAD2 Duo
    - Spectrasonics Omnisphere
    - NI Komplete 8
    - Waves 9
    - Soundtoys 4
    - Wallander Instruments
    - EW Play
    - Melodyne
    NOT Working:
    - Access Virus TI. Plugin opens but cannot connect to Virus. I am running the latest stable v4 release - I will try installing the v5 public Beta and report back. This is a deal breaker so if I cannot get it working I will roll back to Lion
    - SSL Duende Native. Authorization is failing. Possibly a CodeMeter issue or just authorizations lost during upgrade - will look at this next.
Make sure you are running the latest iLok driver - there was one released a few days ago.
    More as it develops.

  • If i'll buy mountain lion will my recovery partition be able to install it instead of Lion? (on macbook air mid 2011)

i have a macbook air mid 2011 with that came with Lion. if i format my mac the recovery partition is downloading the latest version of Lion and installs it. will i be able to do the same but with mountain Lion? i like clean installions of OS and not updating old one to a new with from the OS itself.
    thanks!

You would first need to buy Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store and install it. During the initial install it may give you the option of running Disk Utility to wipe the drive it is being installed to (Not sure as I have never done it as ML is not available). If it doesn't give you that option then you would need to install if over the top of Lion and when doing so it shoild update the Recovery HD partition to work only with ML. Then using the Recovery HD WIPE the main partition and then Reinstall ML.
You could also use the downloaded ML files to create your own USB thumb drive of the install files then use that to wipe the drive and reinstall.
In any event the install routine should update the R-HD to work, download, only with ML.

  • Mac (with  Mountain Lion) will not back up to iCloud (nor even before ML)...all settings correct, just no backup taking place

Even before the latest upgrade to Mountain Lion, I have never been able to get anything backed up to iCloud from my mac. Now, with the latest upgrade, I've gone back and checked all my settings via the System Prefs, enabled Icloud in mail, contacts, etc., etc., but still have no luck getting anything from my mac into the iCloud. All services are checked, but the full storage capacity is stil unused.
Additionally, I am unable to get Photostream enabled in Aperture. Everytime I click the "Turn on Photostream" button I get a "could not connect" message.
Thanks, in advance, for any help!

There aren't supposed to be any photos, bookmarks or documents at iCloud.com.
Do you actually have any email messages in your iCloud account within the mail application on your computer.
For contacts, first check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.
This user tip might help you understand how accounts work with Address Book.
For calendars, first check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • HT4229 Why dosent Logic Express 9 work with OSX Lion on the iMac?

Why dosent my Logic Express 9 work on the OSX Lion on my iMac desktop computer?

You're no tard - had exactly the same issue myself. You'd think logic would have some built in message that suggests you run a software update before opening...

  • How can I manage an older airport express base station with Mountain Lion?

This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this base station. Use AirPort Utility 5.6 to configure or manage this base station. AirPort Utility 5.6 is available at AirPort Service and Support."
I tried to install AirPort Utility 5.6 on my Mac OSX 10.8 Mac Book and it will not allow me to.  How do I manage my "older" airport?

The 5.6 version can be installed but it does take an alternative route to do so. For example, you can use a utility like Pacifist to first extract the utility, and then, move it to the Utilities folder. Once "installed" by this method, it runs just fine on Mountain Lion.

  • If i upgrade to mountain lion, will I lose all my aftermarket software?

I just got an iPad 2 & now I need to upgrade my macbook pro to mountain lion so I can activate iCloud & share media between the two. I'm worried that if I do, I will lose all my aftermarket software on my macbook, most importantly 'office for mac' as I don't have it on disc and need it.
I was going to upgrade via the app store - can I do that without it affecting my other software?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You won't lose anything upgrading Mac OS X. Note that Office 2004 isn't compatible with OS X Mountain Lion because it's a PowerPC application, so if you are using it, you have to upgrade to Office 2008 or 2011 first. Remember to make a Time Machine backup and/or a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner before upgrading

  • My computer is new iMac 27" with Mountain Lion but doesn't recongnized in AppStore as installed, My computer is new iMac 27" with Mountain Lion but doesn't recongnized in AppStore as installed

I bought my iMac in winter. Early 2013. Mountain Lion was included.
One day, a copy program was running and seemed to get always running asking me not to stop...
    I disconnected electricity.
Afterwards, the computer refused to start on.
I carried it to MicroLogic firm in Quebec  City (west).
They made a repair and my computer is working as well from this time.
When I now open AppleStore, the sticker says MountainLion is not installed.
    Why?

Log out of the App Store and then log back in with your Apple ID and password.  See if that will let AS recognize the system you're running.
    Or you might try this:
1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:
    open the Terminal application.
copy the command below and paste into the Terminal window:
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
    followed by Enter.
    launch App Store, login.
2 - select the Debug ➙ Reset Application option:
    3 - check again.

  • If I upgrade my macbook pro from snow leopard 10.6.8 to mountain lion, will I lose any current software, files, or need to reinstall or reset anything?

I want to be sure that I won't lose things like microsoft office (I need excel for work) or my word files. Will I lose anything by upgrading to mountain lion? will I need to reinstall things or spend a lot of time restoring and resetting to get things set up as I have them now?

Probably not. Back up your computer first, and ensure that your applications are compatible wih Mac OS X 10.8; Microsoft Office 2004 and earlier aren't.

  • Any word on fixing some glitches with Mountain Lion?

    The System - MacBook Air 1.8 GHz Intel Core i7 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 using OS X 10.8.1
    Some things I've noticed:
    - When using external monitors, moving a window from the MacBook Air screen to the external screen, the window has to be shrunk to significantly smaller and then manuvered into place despite the arrangement (my arrangement is a monitor above my MacBook Air and windows have to be slipped through the side and up with mild frustration).
    - When using Mail, Safari, FileMakerPro, iTunes, and some other programs: clicking on an item inside of a background window used to switch windows and select the item - now it seems I have to click the top bar of the background window and then make my selection, otherwise the active window will shift around as though dragged to the place it was clicked... It seems "sticky".
    - When using Mail, moving a received message from my inbox to a Folder on my Mac, attachments are no longer accessable and the Mail Message displays the attachment as code (as though it were opened in/as text-edit).
I'm sure there's more, and I do send my error reports to Apple, but these are some issues I've noticed that haven't specifically generated an error

As to your first item, where is your menu bar? If the menu bar is at the top of the internal screen (which would be the default position) and the secondary screen is above the primary (internal) screen, you are going to have trouble getting windows past the menu bar.
I have noticed some changes in how focus is moved between windows and applications, but not particularly with the applications you mention.
I don't recognize your third item at all. I move messages with attachments quite frequently without incident.

  • Logic Pro 9.0 and Mountain Lion

I had Logic Express and bought the Logic Studio Box (DVD) to upgrade the software. After I installed it, I keep getting a message that I can't use this version of Logic Pro (9.0) with Mountain Lion. And I can't look for updates, since the software doesn't open. Does anyone know how to fix this?Thank you!

...or you can simply run Software Updates to update Logic to the latest version...
(You don't need to run Logic to update it..)

  • Is iDVD compatible with Mountain Lion?

I currently have a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8 on it.  I also have on it iDVD version 7.1.2, which is the main reason I bought the MacBook.  I am a teacher who uses iDVD often and it does me no good to not be able to have the burn capability that iDVD offers.
My question is this:  If I upgrade to the newest version of Mountain Lion will I lose my IDVD?  I have read so many differering opinions and I have a friend who got a newer MacBookPro and the iDVD is not on it.  I would like to update to a new OSX version but do not want any issues with my iDVD, which is why I bought the mac.  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks so much-
    Bonnie

f I purchase a boxed iLife '11 can I just install the iDVD and not the other applications?
Yes, but you won't be able to get all of the iDVD themes.
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
