Logic Express 9 won't work with Lion

I just bought a new Macbook Pro! I love it. I used Migration Assistant to move things from my last mac onto the new one. A part of that move was Logic Express 9. Eveything else from the move works fine--GarageBand files and all. But Logic will not open. It keeps saying that the program is not compatiable with this version of OS X. I removed Logic from my computer and reinstalled it from the original DVD. Said the same thing. I've been reading a lot about this issue on various communities and talked with Apple support. They said I needed to upgrade Logic from 9.0.0. Well, fine. I download the 145 MB upgrade twice and it says that the upgrade cannot be installed--that it might have been corroded during download. Says that both times.
I am lost--I need this program to work. I produce music for myself and others. I can't do without it. I don't fuss with things on my Mac. I have never moved or renamed any files. Everything is where it was when it was installed.
I am lost and don't know what to do...

I appreciate the response!
I was reading some more and kept having the same problem. I ended up re-installing it a third time, then downloading the update, and finally got it working.
Something just was weird with this.
But got it going!
Thanks!

  • Logic 8 won't work with lion...i don't want to waste money on 9 so when is 10 coming?!?

I really dont want to pay 200 bucks to upgrade to 9 when 10 should be coming around soon. Soooooo does anyone know when it is?

Until Apple makes an announcement, no, no one here will know or can say. We'll have to wait until Apple says something, at which time I'm sure the announcement will be fairly prominently mentioned on all the Apple-related news sites.

Intuit's Quicken won't work with Lion.  Installed and am using Quicken Essentials but it's not as convenient.

this has been an issue with Quicken for a long time! Quicken was initially a Mac only application and then they got greedy! i beta-tested Quicken for Intuit for years and when they announced they were not going to support it any more the screaming was loud but not heard!
Quicken Essentials is a crime! i wasn't even asked to beta-test it; probably because they would have gotten an earful!!! it is not essential; it is stupid.... AND, of course, their online version was a disaster. i use Quickbooks Online for business and it works like a charm; i mean it even downloads ignominious PayPal transactions now!
i am also stupid for not really checking out if it would work with Lion - ALL of my financials are on it. I am going to have to do what @cwiens suggested above and either pull out an old Macbook I have or my well stored original Cube in its original box! thank the fates for the double backup i've always done with Quicken - Time Machine & its own key drive!
btw, this is an old Microsoft trick - not having older versions of apps work on OS updates so they force you to buy the new versions.

  • Microsoft Office. Epson Scan, Canon software won't work with Lion OS

Microsoft Office. Epson Scan, Canon software won't work with Lion OS

Microsoft office 2008 and later work fine on Lion. Office 2004 is a PowerPC application. PPC apps are no longer supported and Lion does not include Rosetta, which was required to run them on OS X. I imagine the Epson / Canon software you are trying to use is the same. Check with them to see if updates are available.

  • Older model Airport Express won't work with Mountain Lion Airport Utility

just upgraded to Mountain Lion and noticed that of my network of three airport expresses connected to various stereo speaker systems throughout the house, one of the older models won't work with the supplied version of Airport Utility (v 6.1). Here is the message it gives in the utility when I attempt to select this particular Airport Express:
"This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this base station. Use AirPort Utility 5.6 to configure or manage this base station. AirPort Utility 5.6 is available at AirPort Service and Support."
Well, I go to download v 5.6 and none of the versions available will install on Mountain Lion! (even the version for Lion) Catch 22.
Any resolution to this (other than having to go out and buy a newer version Airport Express)?
    Michael

  • AirPort Express won't work with 7.0.2

Everything was fine til I bought a new Shuffle. It made me upgrade to 7.0.2, now my Airport Express won't work. I have firmware 6.2 and just uploaded all of the newest updates from apple.com for it (AX). The security is off on my network and the AX is connected with a green light. Still no option to choose my home stereo which is hooked up to the AX. HELP! I have spent all day trying to get this to work!!!!

My Airport Express when it is setup to extend my network while plugged into Ethernet will Create a network under settings
This is the correct setting to "extend" the network using an Ethernet connection. Technically, this is called a "roaming" network.
If I change this to Extend A Network it doesn't work properly.
This is because "Extend a wireless network" is used only when AirPort devices communicate with each other using wireless only......not Ethernet.
It would help if Apple used settings like "Extend a network using Ethernet" and "Extend a network using wireless only".....but they don't.
The AirPort Extreme will need to be configured as the main router if you want it to provide a Guest Network. It cannot do this if it is configured in Bridge Mode.

  • I recently install Lion OS on my iMac and just found out that my Canon 4400F scanner won't work with Lion, what can I do to get it working again?

I am having trouble with some of my previously installed software before installing the New Lion OS. I just found this evening that my Canon 4400F Scanner will no longer work with the new OS. I need to know if there is a solution for this short of buying a new scanner? I am also upset that my Microsoft Office Professional will no longer boot as well. Anyone know why this took place?

If it will not longer work due to Lion, it's most likely becasuse no drivers for Lion have been released.  No way to get aroud it other than going back to Snow Leopard.  MS Office wont work if it is '04 or earlier becasue it is a PPC application.  Mac switched from PPC to Intel in 2006 and created the Rosetta emulator to allow companies to make their software compatable or allow users to buy new software.  After 5 years, Rosetta support was dropped, with the release of Lion.  No way to get this software to work with Lion.

  • Quicken for Mac replacement - won't work with Lion

Quicken has sent an announcement to users confirming that Quicken for Mac 2005-2007 will not work with Lion, and encourage these users to begin using Quicken Essentials.  Obviously this is not an option for many.  I'm going to try out iBank 4 as a full replacement for Quicken for Mac, although I understand online bill pay is not supported.
Any other former Quicken for Mac users using iBank 4?  Would love to hear your thoughts about it.

Just to add to the thread..
As Quicken will not be supporting the Mac Lion Update, I will require a replacement financial/banking software package for Quicken 2007.
I tried Quicken Essentials but it does not do what I need.
I am looking for the following features:
    Check Printing
    Memorized Transactions (QuickFill in Quicken)
    Custom Reports
    Memorized Reports
    Scheduled Transactions
I do not need investment/budget/online banking features.
    Sure would appreciate some advice!
    Many thanks!

  • Truecrypt won't work with lion.

Truecrypt worked great with Snow Leopard.  Won't with Lion.  Get message about "MacFUSE file system not available."  There is info I need to get from Truecrypt.  Help please.

I have just found that it indeed does work, but only after I downloaded a new revisionof Macfuse, which I learned from another forum.

  • Airport Express won't work with VPN

Finally made it through the nightmare of setting up my Airport Express to act as a wireless print server on my existing network (Linksys WRT54G router). However once I log onto my corporate VPN, I cannot print or even see the Airport. I have checked the LAN access box on the Transport tab of my VPN software which is supposed to allow split tunneling, but no luck. Everything works fine once I log off the VPN. I bought the Airport Express specifically because an Apple rep told me it would work with my VPN. My previous wireless print server (Linksys) would not support VPN.
    Appreciate any help!

  • Airport express won't work with Extend Network, only Create Network

My Airport Express when it is setup to extend my network while plugged into Ethernet will Create a network under settings. If I change this to Extend A Network it doesn't work properly. It keeps kicking me on and off WiFi, but the former way works with no foreseen issues. What is going on? I can't extend my guest network with the first option, I don't believe.
I have a 5th Generation AirPort Extreme and a 1st Gen AirPort Express.

  • Trackpad won't work with LION new options...Apple said trackpad solid-state and not compatible MACPRO...REALLY???

So frustrated!! Should have had disclamer that it might not work with OLDER 2008 MacPro...

It seems to work fine with my March 2007 Mac Pro. Mind you, you're probably overlooking the need for the Bluetooth adapter. I bought a Belkin adapter from Apple Store. UK, cost about GBP10.

  • Match Regular Expression won't work with Null

Is that right? I don't see it in the documentation. I can use it on \01 , just not \00.
Is there a way around this problem? I know that Match Pattern works, but I want to use it with separate partial matches (a|b) which Match Pattern does not support.

    Here's a possibility:
If you try to set the constant "\00" to "\0" with the '\' Code Display on, it just converts it back to "\00" on the display.
The function uses the PCRE library.  From the library documentation (the pcrepattern man page):
"After \0 up to two further octal digits are read. In both cases, if there
are fewer than two digits, just those that are present are used. Thus the
sequence \0\x\07 specifies two binary zeros followed by a BEL character
(code value 7). Make sure you supply two digits after the initial zero if the
pattern character that follows is itself an octal digit."
So, what if, behind the scenes, LV is actually feeding the match function just a "\0"?  I'm guessing (but haven't been able to verify) it would match *any* input string, immediately, with an offset of zero.  Testing with random search strings shows behavior that might indicate this.
If the above is true, getting around it might be hard, since you're at the mercy of LV as to exactly how it calls that library.
Fun stuff... okay, back to work with me.  Good luck,
    Joe Z.

  • PowerPC apps won't work with Lion

I have an application that is no longer working as the message says Lion no longer supports ower PC apps?
Is there any work around for this?

Find an update for the application, or find a newer application doing similar work.
The app that is giving the most people fits is Quicken.  Other than running Quicken for Windows in a virtual program (like Parallels) (which I already do), there are no really good alteratives to Quicken (not that Quicken for Mac was ever any good to begin with).

  • ICal won't work with Lion OS

I just downloaded the new Lion OS and now my iCal won't open.  I click on the app and an error message pops saying "application may not be compatible with operating system"

yes, the "dock" is the tool bar at the bottom.  Is your iCal already showing on the dock "tool bar"?  if it is, right click on the iCal icon, click on "options", then click on remove from dock.
Then, go into your applications folder, right click on iCal, click "options", choose add to dock (or something like that).
