Logic Express Academic Update?

Hello, my school recently purchased Logic Express 7.0.1. ACADEMIC. I've downloaded the Logic Express 7.2.1 update, but it doesn't work with my Academic version of the software. I need the 7.2.1 bug fixes, any suggestions? Thanks much.

You may also update for 7.1.1 first, but try to see if you can have for free as you got it now.
Logic 7.0 has about a year, I wonder how come you have an old version?

I have Logic Express version 7.0.1 and never did get the "paid" upgrade to Logic Express version 7.1 (or was it version 7.2?). I'm wondering what the latest version of Logic Express 7 is and how I would go about getting the update/upgrade to 7.1 (or 7.2)?
I use GarageBand most of the time and don't use Logic Express a lot so I don't really want to fork out the cash to move to version 8 but it would be nice to see it updated somehow. Logic Express 7.0.1 seems to work fine on 10.5.6 for me, by the way.
I just can't seem to find any info on Apple's website about the version 7.1 (or 7.2) update/upgrade.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

It was 7.2.3 (961.9). I still use it along side 8.0.2 (1502.22)…
Because the files in both LE7 & LE8 get huge when they are edited, but unlike in LE7, there is no way to bring the file back to it's proper size. A 350 KB song in LE8 can get to be many MBs, so I'm forced to build the song in LE7 where I can save the final version twice, which brings the file back to it's proper size. I can then open it in LE8 and edit only the few parameters that I've learned don't increase the file's size. The amount of extra work this made transferring 700+ files from Cubase is beyond belief. I needed to get software to preserve LE8 file creation dates for the many files I had to make small changes to in LE7 and import a 'new' file into LE8. And after every 5 times I open LE7, I'm asked to register the application. I had to click that box off the screen over 2500 times.

Opening Garage Band files in Logic Express

I'm a school music teacher and have just started using Logic Express 7 to open kids' Garage Band files for tidying up and polishing.(Still a beginner with logic I'm afraid!) Have just purchased Logic Express 8 update, but haven't installed it because I heard that it won't open Garage Band 3 files. Is this true? If so, is it possible to have both 7 and 8 running independently on the computer? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The original release of LE8 had a bug which required a workaround to open GB files. The subsequent 8.0.1 update fixed that. After you install LE8, go to Software Update and install the 8.0.1 update and you will be fine.

HT1338 How to update Logic Express 9.0.1 after migrating to Lion?

I just migrated from Snow Leopard to Lion and now can't open or upgrade Logic Express 9.0.1 to a Lion version. How can I upgrade the software to the latest version? Software update doesn't show anything. I've migrated using my Time Machine backup from my Macbook running latest Snow Leopard.

You just need to update your App to the newer version that is compatible with Lion.

HT1349 First of all, I have just purchased a iMac and I tried installing my Logic Express 9.0 and it won't work. Gives me an error message. I searched the internet and found i need to update it to run with Lion. Tried to download but my SerNum doest work.

Can anyone help me please. I tried installing my Logic Express 9.0 but it states I need an update. Ok.. great. So i tried to download it via apple.com but my serial number doesn't work. I can't even schedule an appointment with them because I am in Italy now. Can anyone show me how I can fix this proble. Uninstalling Academic version of Logic Express

I have an academic copy of Logic express on my Macbook pro and retail version on my iMac. I purchased Logic Pro 8 upgrade and just found out I can only upgrade my retail version. Any ideas on how to uninstall the Academic version from my Macbook Pro so I can install Logic Pro on my newer machine? I have tried trashing(to uninstall) the academic version and using the "upgrade" install feature from my retail disk. I have done this twice and after upgrading from the retail LE disks, I still see the academic splash screen. I haven't reid, but assume I won't be able to upgrade since the screen still indicates "academic". What files do I have to remove to rid my Macbook Pro of its Academic license assumption.

So I don't REALLY know what I'm talking about, but my understanding is that when you install the Logic Pro 8 upgrade, you just need to put in the serial number of your Logic Express during the installation process. I'm just wondering if you even need to mess with trying to install LE on your MBP. What happens if you just do the LP install and put in your retail LE serial when prompted?
I'm curious to know, as I have an old version of LE which isn't installed, and I'm hoping I can use the serial for installation without actually installing LE on my machine.

How to identify Logic Express 7 retail vs. academic.

I wondered if there is a definitive way of determining whether a copy of Logic Express 7 is the ugradeable "retail" version or the academic version. My copy says "retail" on the CD package and does not have academic on the splash screen My local apple store says they cannot tell unless I have the price from the original invoice (which is long lost). I am looking to upgrade to Logic Studio.

Then you +do not+ have the Academic license, you have the Retail.

How to update logic express 9.01 under lion?

After I installed Lion on my computer I recognized that i missed to update Logic express from 9.01 to 9.1, so the old version is not able to run under Lion. If I try now to update Logic express the system tells me to update from 9.01 what is recommended by the system.
Does anybody have the same problem?

I don't get the problem? Just perform the update from 9..0.1 to 9.1.6 by using "Software Update".

Logic Express 8 Disc, updated to new mac with no hard drive? Can i download anywhere?

I have updated to a MacBook Pro retinad display, can i find a download for logic express 8 as there is obviously no hard drive on my new mac?

I spoke to an apple genius the other day and he mentioned that i could use the old mac wirelessly to load logic express on my new mac, without the need for transferring and using up memory on the new drive?
any idea how this is done?

Cannot Install Logic Express 9.0.1 Update

I tried to install the 9.0.1 update but I keep getting a message "An eligible Logic Express Version was not found in the Applications Folder. This Update requires Logic Express version 9.0." when I try to install it.
I have a copy of Logic 9 Express that I bought from the Apple Store & there is a copy in the Applications folder that I installed as a default location.
This was an upgrade from Logic 7. I may have shortened the name to "Logic Express" & I also have the copy of Logic 7 still in my Application Folder.
Any help would be appreciated.

Is your version 9.0 registered and functioning properly? If so, I see no reason why the update installer does not recognize it . . . as long as you installed the original application to the default Applications folder and did not move it later, and did not rename the file. Also, be sure you have not moved or renamed any support files (Library/Application Support/Logic, etc.).
Having both LE7 and LE9 in your Applications folder should be okay. I have "Logic Express 8" and "Logic Express" in mine ("Logic Express" being version 9) and I was able to update to 9.0.1.
Unless somebody else has a solution, you might try reinstalling LE9 and then the 9.0.1 update again.

Logic express 8 won't run the update I downloaded

I have a registered working version of logic express 8. I downloaded the update and when I try to run it it says "An eligible Logic Express Version was not found in the Applications Folder. This Update requires Logic Express version 8.0"

For those interested, I reinstalled Logic Express and all the Jam Packs were there. I then installed update 8.01 and all of them were gone from the loop browser except the aforementioned Voices and World Music. I have reinstalled and updated three times. Same result each time. Obviously, something is wrong with the update. I'll sit out the update until 8.02 is released and maybe that will fix this problem.

I don't see any problem with trying LE7 in a Leopard environment. Usually newer OS have backwards compatibility with older software. However, just in case, have all your valuable data backed up before upgrading. With all bases covered you can easily revert to the old setup if something goes wrong under Leopard. The only thing you can lose is time spent to re-install Tiger and LE7.

Can't update to Logic Express 7.2.1. Help please?

I have Logic Express 7.0. I just recently tried to download / install the update to 7.2.1 but it said it couldn't find a Logic file in my applications folder. I tried the update to 7.1 as well and got the same message. Clearly, the application IS in my applications folder so I don't know why it wn't install. Can anyone help me out? I would really like to get the latest version of LE. Am I downloading something wrong? Doing something wrong?

from 7.0 to 7.1 (payd) to have to Buy the upgrade DVD (7.1), via download you can get the free 7.1.1.
the same with 7.2 (DVD) and 7.2.1 also via free download.

Logic Express 8 quits unexpectedly after updating OS with latest Leopard

I've had no problems with Logic Express 8 while using Mac OS X Tiger. Then, I recently updated my OS with leopard, and all of a sudden had problems opening Logic Express 8. I've looked at all the support topics online and in a nutshell, removed any and all files regarding Logic Express 8. I then attempted to reinstall it, as well as update it, but had the same problem. Every time I attempt to open the program, it says, "Logic Express 8 quit unexpectedly."

It turned out, a plug-in that was installed with pro-tools LE (melodyne) was conflicting with logic express. I removed it, and now logic works fine. Thanks anyway.

Logic Express 9.1.2 update Wont Install on 9.0.1 version

I'm getting an error message when trying to update to 9.1.2. My current version of Logic Express is 9.0.1. Here is the error message displayed:

An eligible Logic Express Version was not found in the Applications Folder.
This Update requires Logic Express version 9.0 or h*igher.

OK, I really dislike reinstalling when an app is working perfectly. But having trawled through user groups and Apples help files - it became evident that this was the next logical step. So I reinstalled version 9.0.0. It worked! It then accepted the upgrade to 9.1.2 without a hitch. So i guess this is the solution
