Logic express is not reading tascam us144

I've tried removing and reloading both programs and drivers, no joy. BUT garageband is reading it. Anyone able to help?

Firstly, open up the 'Audio MIDI Setup' utility ( Applications > Utilities ) & make sure you can see your interface. From what you say, you should be able to, so this is just a quick double-check (since if you can't, we'll have to deal with that first).
Each of your devices should appear in the Environment, since unless they do, you won't be able to assign tracks.
Normally you would do this by running the Logic Setup Assistant, which runs automatically the first time you run Logic; but you can run it again if you need to:
Logic > Preferences > Start Logic Setup Assistant…
If you DO run it, then when you've finished you'll have to restart Logic.
Once your interface is safely appearing in the Environment (you may not even need to check this yet; but do so if there's still a problem), You can create a track (e.g. by
Track > Create )
& then by clicking & holding on the icon in the track (in the Arrange Window), you will be able to select the instrument you want from an hierarchical menu.
That should be enough to get you started, & hopefully you can see how to do the rest from there on. If you didn't get that far, just LMK where it went wrong! More details on request…

  • Logic Express 9 running with Tascam US-122 - possible?

    Hello,
I've been scouring support forums and the Logic user manual all day and unfortunately cannot seem to find an answer to this:
Is it at all possible to run Logic Express 9 with the Tascam US-122?
I've just converted from PC to Mac in the last couple of weeks: all of my software and drivers are all up-to-date so that should not be an issue. Obviously that means that I've previously been using my Tascam with Cubase on the PC, and I was really hoping it would cope with Logic too. The problem is that Logic does recognize the Tascam but when it comes to recording, I can't get it to work. Apparently it's something to do with the sample rate?
Please help - if it can be avoided, I don't want to have to buy another device. Any advice or answers would be very much appreciated!
    Thank you.

It sounds like you have the same setup as us.
I (oops, wife) has a brand new iMac, a Tascam US-122L and a Yamaha KX8 controller. She started with GarageBand, then bought Logic Express 9 and just yesterday we ordered the upgrade to Logic Studio.
Like any new computer setup of course nothing worked right away.
She plugs her guitar into the Tascam but it didn't work until we changed to Input 2 in Logic (or was it GarageBand, sorry I am getting them confused).
Anyway, my point is that you should not need any more hardware to make it work. We have yet to plug a mike into the Tascam...that will be the fun for the weekend....lol
    Good luck,
    Paul

  • Logical expression OR not working

    Hello Experts,
I am using logical expression 'OR' but the current statement does not seems to work.
Is my statement correct ?? Is there something else which I can use in place of 'OR'??
    if R1_NO EQ 'X'
        DELETE itab_abapcode from n3 to row_end_event
      or R2_NO EQ 'X'
        delete itab_abapcode from n1 to row_end_perform
      or R3_NO EQ 'X'
        delete itab_abapcode from n2 to row_end_call.
      endif.

    Hi
I think you should learn more about if statement.
       Usually we use
    if <condition>
             statement
      elseif <condition>
             statement
       else.
             satement
       endif.
The condition is the whole part, after judge the condition statement, program will process the statement.
so just change your 'OR' statement into if else.
    if R1_NO EQ 'X'.
      DELETE itab_abapcode from n3 to row_end_event
    elseif R2_NO EQ 'X'
      delete itab_abapcode from n1 to row_end_perform
    elseif R3_NO EQ 'X'
      delete itab_abapcode from n2 to row_end_call.
    endif.

  • Logic express does not respond while loading!

When I start Logic express it takes 2 minutes to finally show up.When I look at the force quit window it says "Not Responding". This is after I hit create project.Logic was running correctly unitl I loaded Win XP through boot camp on a partintioned drive. This is the only thing I think it could be? But I cant unload XP, I domt' have an extra Key code. By the way this is a brand new iMac 2.4 chip runnning leopard

I'm having the same problem. It's weird. It eventually goes, but those 2 minutes feel like a lifetime!

  • Logic express does not start up

Today I have updated to Lion.
After the update I tried to start my logic express program (version 8.0.2).
Nothing happen. I tried to start up logic express using the terminal. THis is the output:
    MacBook-BC:etc beert$ open /Applications/Logic\ Express.app
LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10664 for the file /Applications/Logic Express.app.
What's going on? Can it be repaired, can I fall back to leopard?

I'm really disappointed with Apple on this one. I've only owned Logic Express 8 for 2 months and I paid for it fair and square. I've just bought some softsynths to use with it too and now I'm worrying about their compatibility with the whole thing.
I managed to get it run with the command that bch2 posted and that's great, but what I don't understand is if it runs like this, why can't it just run from the dock or app icon as normal? It all just seems like a way of making people buy the latest version.
Anyway, I'm trying to restrain myself from ranting on about Lion and what a mistake I've made .
Thanks for the command bch2, at least I can make my paid-for programme work for a bit longer now before I'm forced to fork out for the latest version.

  • Logic Express does not show the waveform of the audio after recording

This week, Logic stopped showing the waveform in track.
At the time of recording the wave is usually draws but as soon as I stop is theonly track in a straight line as if no audio recorded, the audio is usually recorded, you can apply effects and plug-ins but it is impossible to edit.
Sorry for any errors in the text, I am Brazilian and I'm using google translator.
    Thank you!

after hours of searching I think I found the solution in a post 2010. I do not know for how long, but now it's all working
    credits for Foxboy71
you won't find the .plist files via spotlight - they are excluded from search,
    go to (user)/library/preferences/
there you'll find the files named com.apple.Logic Express (xyz whatever).plist
delete them. Logic will rebuild them from scratch.

  • Newly installed Logic Express will not open

I bought a 15-inch MacBook Pro and Logic Express 9 today. I was able to install Logic smoothly, but when I looked for it in my Applications folder, it appeared as a crossed-out AppleWorks icon. When I try to open it, I get the following error message:
"You can't open the application Logic Express because it is damaged or incomplete."
I installed it again and I got the same error message. Do I need to get it replaced, or is there a step in the process that I missed?

I didn't register, I don't have my wireless internet set up for the Mac yet.
And I don't have Snow Leopard, I just have regular Mac OS X. Do I need Snow Leopard to run LE9?

  • Logic Express with not Recognise Amplitube 3 as a Plug-in

I cannot get Logic Express 9 to recognise Amplitube 3 as a plug-in. What do I need to do to make get it to use Amplitube. I'm new to Logic Express and I'm enjoying the on-board amp sims, but I really love my Amplitube.

Hopefully you will find this thread of help... In particular the very last post by gtrman...

  • Logic Express 8 not seeing third-party software instruments

I have tried to install some Puremagnetik EXS instruments files for Logic, following manufacturer's instructions to place an alias of the file containing them in the folder Macintosh HD-->Library-->Application Support-->Logic-->Sampler Library. Have tried this both with an alias and with the actual file. Actual file resides on the home drive not an external drive. Have rescanned the library in Logic and they are not showing up either in the library or in the channel strip drop-down menu.
Have others had this problem with "third-party" software instruments that do not come as package files? The only non-built-in software instruments that I have ever successfully installed in an Apple product were either from the Jam Packs or came as a "package" where you double-click the "box" icon and the product installs.

Even though both the Puremagnetik instructions and an e-mail from the support address there specifically said to place the files in the top level directory, guess what? Based on this suggestion I placed an alias in the user level directory and it worked. Logic is now seeing the soft synths. Thank you!

  • Logic Express 9 not saving transport bar settings

I changed my transport settings by adding buttings and clicked the 'save as default' button, but the the settings do not stay when I quit logic and reopen the project file.

    Well,
What I have to say is that the Roland's support helped me to find an answer. We tested the controller with another computer and everything was fine. The main problem was about software. When I formatted my computer almost everything was solved. The only problem that still remain is the midi oscillations in MIDI OUT display when ACT is lit. Now I can control LOGIC, and there is no strange advise when I start it. About the detail of the oscillations, maybe is a problem of configuration in LOGIC, maybe is a problem of hardware in my computer, I still don't know.
I wrote this because if anyone in the world is in the same situation, who knows, these words could help in any way.

  • Can logic pro 8 projects be read on logic express 8?

I've posted this on the logic pro forum but thought should post it here too:
So a few weeks ago I went to teach a short one day course in Logic Express 8.... except I've only used Logic Pro 8.....mmmm
Anyway, with all my projects carefully prepared (without space designers or any non- Express 8 plug-ins) I copied my workshop projects onto the students computers only to find that the .logic file was missing. Eek! The iMacs we were using had Logic express 8 (not pro) on them but for some reason the .logic file was now replaced by a folder - which we figured out was actually the opened package of the logic pro file:
The folder was always called Lgdoc containing two files: display state & document data
I've managed to replicate this behaviour on my powerbook which has not got logic 8 installed on it.
Has anyone else come across this? Has anyone opened a logic pro 8 project in Logic express 8 successfully?
Is there a way to re-pack a file whose contents are being shown?
    Thanks
    Rounik

Ok thanks, so I shouldn't have any problem I guess finish the project with logic9. Do u know by any chance if I can have both 8 and 9 running on my Mac?

  • How can i get a free digital download for the Logic express 9 DVD version

I recently bought an new Imac. There is no dvd player. What gets me frustrated is that i own almost all Apple products, but i can't seem to get my DVD version of Logic Express on my new imac. I tried to share the dvd drive of my macbook pro, but that doesnot work with copy protected software. So i can't install from that external dvd drive.
    So now i have a:
    Iphone
    Ipad mini
    Macbook pro
    Imac
and ik can't use my officially purchased version of Logic. Microsoft offers a free digital download for registered version of Office for Mac. Is er there also a free digital download for Logic Express? Anybody?
If there is not, i feel ripped off.
    Thanks.

Why not ask in the Logic Express forums?

  • Logic Express takes 4-6 hours to load a Garageband project!??!!

When I open projects I have made with Garage Band in Logic Express, it takes 4-6 hours to load the song. Thats obviously not the way it is supposed to be.
On another machine I have Logic Pro. There opening a Garageband project is fast -30 sec or so.
Maybe I am crying for help? Or maybe there is something wrong with the software?
I have all my Garageband instruments on the startup volume, while I have most of my loops on another volume. That works just fine with Garageband. It also works fine with Logic Pro under 10.3.9.
The Garageband loops are on an external USB disk, and this hard disk is spinning constantly during those hours. Logic Express puts up messages like "Loading Audio Files for "Cellos.exs"" during this time. Incidentally Logic Express is not responding during this time, The above dialog say one can press command period to cancel the operation, but that does not work. All that is working is killing the application process.
The above behaviour occurs wether I have any loops in the project or not.
Is there a solution to this? Having all loops on the startup volume is not possible.

Thank you very much 'Windham Hillbilly'.
Yes, saving the song as an archive from GarageBand gives fast loading in Logic Express, fully comparable to my Logic Pro loading of non archive songs.
So, this takes care of the issue for me.
Now, if there really should be a 4-6 hour load time in the first place is a different matter.

  • Transfer Digital Performer files into Logic Express?

I have some old recordings that are on a ADAT tape. A friend of mine said he could transfer them to Digital Performer. Does Logic open DP files?
    Paul

Unfortunately, as was pointed out, Logic Express does not open Digital Performer files.
Not does it import OMF files, nor Broadcast Wave files, which means you can't export time-stamped waves from DP and import into LE. If you know someone with Logic Pro, it DOES support Broadcast Wave. This could be one work around.
    Otherwise, you'll have two options.
    1) Import the ADAT recordings directly into LE using an interface that supports ADAT In (MOTU 828mkII comes to mind). This will only work if you can re-assign the inputs of the interface to be the first 8, since LE only "sees" the first 12. This is one of the major limitations of LE, and why it's not really suited for "pro" work.
    2) Import into DP, and then bounce the tracks in DP as separate WAVE of AIFF files, then import them directly into LE in the Audio Window. As long as each file starts (and ends, preferably) at the same time (i.e. as set in the DP bounce), you should have no problem aligning the tracks in LE7.
Number 2 is probably the best solution. Just remember that each of the WAVE files created in DP should begin at the same time (i.e. 0 0 0 0). This will GREATLY simplify the import into LE and make aligning the tracks a painless procedure. You can edit later in LE.
    Hope this helps.

  • Logic express locks up

When I try to access the audio settings logic express locks up giving me the spinning beach ball until I kill it.

Hi Grizz! Yes, you're right, Logic Express is not the easiest app in the world. However, don't give up now. Altough it may seem hard to understand at times, things will get clearer and clearer and I'm sure you'll be amazed at all the music that can be made with it, once you get used to work with it.
In the meantime, don't be afraid to ask for our help. This forum is here for that exact reason and we're always happy to help someone else. Yes, sometimes we may look a little bit impatient but I promise we only want to do our best and we always try to be respectful of everyone here.
P.S. Logic manuals are not the best written in the world. You may to take a look at Martin Sitter's book about Logic.
