Logic express serial number

does anyone know where to find serial # on Logic Express? all I can see is a number on side of box underneath product name- this is on a "sticker". there is no number on printed docs. I saved everything that came in package; want to upgrade to Logic Studio; need to make sure I don't spend $299 and not be able to find serial number. it has been registered- anyway to ask Apple?
thanks

In the box that the DVDs came in, there is a little booklet, the size of a CD. On the back cover of this booklet(it's all paper), there are 2 stickers. The bottom sticker has the Support ID number. The top sticker has 2 printed double lines, the same thing written twice.
The first line should read: LOGIC EXPRESS 7.2 RETAIL, and under that a series of capital letters and numbers in groups of three,,first, with a single capital letter, then a dash, followed by 3 numbers, then a dash, followed by three letters, and it alternates in this fashion, each 3 numbers followed by a dash, then three capital letters. If you include the original single capital letter, it will add up to 28 letters and numbers, separated alternately, numbers, then letters, though it starts with the original single capital letter. This happens 9 times, plus the original letter that starts the group. A dash divides each group of three, starting with the single capital letter, and it's dash. That 28 letter number combination is the serial number.

    Hi, Forrest!
The Chipmunk site was my first thought when I read the initial post, but although it returns a manufacturing date of the fourth week (Jan) of 2003, I'm not sure that's even accurate, since Chipmunk couldn't return any more info than that.
I wonder if an Apple Store Genius would/could look it up for him...

  • Logic Studio Serial Number not accepted for Logic Studio 9 updates

I just purchased an upgrade from Logic Express to Logic Studio 9. I wanted to download the updates to current versions from http://www.apple.com/logicstudio/download/, but my serial number wasn't accepted on that page. I've checked the numbers (I copied them from the registration dialog just before pressing return - yes, the letters are all caps). Is there anything else I can try? Thanks.

I've seen lots of people posting about their serial not working yesterday, and experiencing it myself with my own serial.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2297318&tstart=0
I'm guessing their gateway server that authorizes the download by verifying your serial number had "issues" yesterday, probably caused by demand. I'm sure Apple posted the direct download page because of this.

  • Logic Xpress serial number problem ???

I am trying to reinstall Logic Express 9 from the disk after having to erase my hardrive and revert back to Lion. It will now not accept the serial number and quits. Any thoughts ?

Make sure you use zeros (0) and not capital O's when you enter your serial number.

  • Logic Pro Serial Number

My macbook was stolen and I just got a new one. The Time Machine Feature allowed me to put everything onto my new mac and my Logic Pro seems to be installed. When I try to open it, a prompt asks me for a serial number. I have entered the part number from my receipt and every number listed on the barcode sticker on the small box containing my Logic discs, but each gets an invalid number response. I`m out of the U.S. right now and the huge box that the discs and manuals came in is back home. Is that the place I could find the serial number? Is there any way to get the serial number using other identification that I have, my .mac account, purchase receipt, etc?

Assuming you bought it from apple; just call them and explain. I had a similar problem with license keys except that my CDs simply never came in the post even though my imac came pre-installed and I had ordered it as part of a bundle - in my case it was Logic Express. I called Apple, they took some details, and within about 30 minutes I had one of their support guys email me my license key.
I was very impressed, no fuss, nothing. Eventually 3 weeks overdue the CDs turned up - can't necessarily blame apple for that as the rest of what I ordered arrived a week early.

  • Final Cut Express serial number

I have used Final Cut Express for two years. I just upgraded to Leopard. Now when I try to open up Final Cut Express I get a request for info about FCE licensing. They want name etc and serial # of Final Cut Express that is located on front page of original software booklet. I do not seem to have that
book nor the serial number. Computer will not continue on with out that information. I can not open
up Final Cut Express. Appreciate any suggestions.

    Dean,
In encountered a similar problem after the main logic board was replaced in my iMac. I was unable to locate my original serial number. Since I had bought the iMac from Apple with FCE pre-installed, they were able to generate a new serial number for me. I now have that number saved in at least four places...in a text file on the computer...in the manual...on the original disc package...and on the update disc package.

  • Logic Studio Serial Number Deactivation

    Hi all,
I have searched the Apple Support Communities and Google to try and get a answer to my question. I have also tried the Apple Online Support (and they suggested that I call their technical department, that are now shut!!!).
How do I deactivate the serial number on Logic Studio? The reason is that I currently use Mountain Lion OS but it's become a nightmare (constantly freezing and really slowing down), so I am going to go back to Snow Leopard as this was the most stable OS that I have used. I haven't done a time machine back up (and I didn't have Logic when I was using Snow Leopard anyway).
I want to reinstall Logic Studio once I have installed Snow Leopard onto my Macbook Pro, but am concerned that if I don't deactivate it properly that I will have issues as the serial number will already be allocated. If I was to uninstall the software, would that automatically deactivate the serial number? If so, how can I uninstall it properly (It's not like Adobe software where you have an uninstall folder/option within the applications folder)?
I have tried the help within the software, but to no avail, and I just want to have Snow Leopard back on my machine as the bugs and lack of stability with Mountain Lion are driving me crazy!
    Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply .
So... If I was to erase my hard disk and reinstall Snow Leopard, then reinstall Logic, does this pose any issues with the licence? Would I have to make Apple aware, or can I just reinstall Logic onto Snow Leopard, no problems?
    Thanks

  • What do I do if my Logic Studio Serial number was stolen, box and all?

So, my box for Logic Studio that I've had since 2010 was stolen, as well as my old computer...and external hardrive where the serial number was backed up. Can apple verify it is me via email, social security, anything, or am I just kind of screwed, and can't use the software I paid for?
Just wondering for a solution, because it has everyhting to do with my lively hood and feeding myself.
I know that these requests are probably a bane of Apple's, but I am willing to verify my information by whatever means necessary, as I would like to just use the software I have paid for. Is there really no protocol for "everything I owned pertaining to technology got stolen"? Life happens, and so did mine, it was out of my control and I find it fairly unjust that I cannot use anything I used to be able to, now that I finally have a computer again after 2 years.
    Thanks, anything helps I suppose.

Something that seems to come up time and time again....
...is when someone loses their serial number for whatever reason.. the last thing they seem to want to do or try.. is to call Apple
Whereas, that would be the very first thing I would do...
    Odd huh?

  • Logic Boards, Serial Number, and iCloud

I'm posting this because I want others who run into the same problem to find a solution - I had some difficulty pinpointing why I was having the following difficulties. Hopefully, if you're reading this, my experience will help!
So, I have two iMacs - one is a mid-2011 model, one is the model before. I upgraded both to Mountain Lion with no difficulties. However, yesterday I began tooling around with iCloud on the newer model, and found that while some iCloud features worked - like Notes and Calendar - others did not, specifically, iWork. I have had no problems syncing files between my iPhone, iPad, and other iMac, so I've been able to retrieve Pages / Keynote / Numbers files with no problems. However, with the mid-2011 model, I was getting just an empty iCloud page.
I did the basic stuff - ensured that I was signed into iCloud with the correct account, ensured I had fully-updated software, and the like - but still, I was getting no love from iCloud. I searched a few forums and checked out some ~Library folders, but everything looked correct - everything was mirroring my older iMac's setup.
I initiated a call to Apple and the front-line rep had me create a test admin login to see if there was something wonky with my user file, but the problem persisted. (By the way, talking to a rep on the phone while they initiate a screen sharing program and following their red pointer around was great). The rep quickly bumped me up to a senior person, who investigated more files. And then we hit on the solution, one I didn't think to check out because it was so obvious.
A few months back this iMac wouldn't boot up, and Apple replaced both the power supply and the logic board. However, the folks at the Genius Bar forgot to "re-serialize" my iMac - the computer was nearly fully functional, but didn't have an internal serial number after the logic board swap. It's like a two-minute step that someone forgot to do.
I brought the iMac to the Apple Store today and in two minutes they had re-serialized the iMac. When I got home, everything was working as it should - the computer has its original serial number, and iCloud worked perfectly.
So there you go. If you have some parts of iCloud working, but not others, check that serial number - iCloud uses it for some, but not all, functions. And if you're getting a logic board swap, verify that your iMac has been re-serialized. It'll save you a trip later on.

Great that you found the solution!
Make sure you unmark this as a question though.
    Regards!

  • I don't have a Logic Pro serial number

I just purchased Logic Studio V2.1 UPGRADE PRO from a German Apple reseller and I cannot use it because I have to own a previous version of Logic (which makes sense since it's an upgrade).
I never had a previous version before (that's my mistake). I'm using Logic for the fist time and I don't have an old serial number.
Is there something I can do? What are my options?
I really need this software. I'm on a macbook (mid 2007) and I cannot upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

Everything worked out fine. I followed your advice and found an older version of Logic on ebay. I've installed the upgrade.
Thank you so much for your time Blueberry, I really appreciate it... Bye!!!

  • Logic 9 Serial Number Not Valid

I recently backed up my computer and did a complete OS reinstall (starting from stratch and not using the old image due to old corruption files). I then decided to manualy copy over Logic Pro 9 files from the backup drive to the new image. I went to open Logic and it asked for my serial number. I typed it in and then it decided to crash on me. Well no big deal, I probably didn't copy all the files. So I deleted as many files as I could find and then proceded to reinstalling Logic 9 from my Logic Studio disc set. Entered name and the serial key during the beggining of the install and it says "Serial Number Not Valid" and asked me to type it again and gives me the same message. After 3 failed attempts, it closes the installation program. I have tripple checked my spelling in the key and have checked forums regarding this problem. I have already attempted to move the ID files in Library/Application Support/ProApps to the desktop; no change. Any input would be nice. Thank you.
I am running Mavericks 10.9.1 on a MacBook pro 2012.

Was your copy of Logic Studio 2.0 (the one containing LP9) a full versionĀ  or an upgrade version?
If it was an upgrade version you need to enter your original LP8 serial first.... and then it will ask for your LP9 upgrade serial...
If it was the full version, contact Apple directly and ask for their assistance.
    http://www.apple.com/contact/
or use the online webpage to obtain a replacement serial number...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1861?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Note: Once you have successfully installed LP9.. you must upgrade LP9 to the latest version 9.1.8 before you run it, via software updates... as you are running Mavericks...

  • Logic install serial number

I am reinstalling LOGIC cause all the sounds didnt install with it. But now its asking for serial number and I bought it from the app store I dont have one or how do I get it?

If you have only ever had the app store version of Logic 9 then there never was a serial number.
If it persisits in asking you for a serial you will need to contact Apple to sort it out but be prepared for awkward questions.

  • HT2375 Retrieving Logic Studio serial number

My harddrive crashed recently and I didn't have my Logic application backed up.
I still have the install DVDs but not the box with the serial number.
Does Logic automatically register online when you first install it? Is there a way I can retrieve my serial number?
ps - it is the Academic version.

Thanks for the quick reply .
So... If I was to erase my hard disk and reinstall Snow Leopard, then reinstall Logic, does this pose any issues with the licence? Would I have to make Apple aware, or can I just reinstall Logic onto Snow Leopard, no problems?
    Thanks

  • Lost Logic Studio serial number

I have lost the box containing all the disks and serial codes for logic studio yet I can prove I purchased it via paypal etc but my question is how do i go about recovering the serial code or getting a new one from apple?

  • Logic Board Serial Number

I have a question. My MB recently had the logic board replaced. My Serial Number no longer appears in the system profiler. I was just wondering if there is any way to restore the number. Thanx

There is no way to restore serial number in the new logic board replacement because by default apple erase serial number to all logic board replacement.
As service technician there is no sutility to write serial number in the firmware section as of today. Don't know in the future if Apple/intel release the utility.
I've change many logic boards and all of them the serial number is blank in the system profiler. But basically you still have serial number in physical unit which located inside battery bay when you take the battery out you will see the serial number and that's what I use usually to confirm the serial number of the unit.
So if you have macbook make sure that when you get top case replaced the technician move your serial number to new top case.
    Hope this help
