Logic express to mp3

Once you record something in LE9 how to you export to itunes or to an mp3? I have searched and read the manual. Thanks for any help.

Dan, that is what I needed.
Thanks again,

I want to make a remix of a track by cutting samples form it and looping certain bits etc.... is this possible in logic express?

    Hi,
Can i open mp3 in logic express?
When you import an MP3 file, Logic converts it into an AIFF file.
(Logic does this because many functions, such as waveform display, sample accurate editing, and so on, would overtax the CPU if Logic had to constantly decode and re-encode the MP3 files in real time for each change or edit.)

  • Unable to load mp3 files recorded using Logic Express into iMovie 8

I'm having issues getting mp3 files created with Logic Express to load into iMovie...
Now when you export audio files from Logic it's usually an AIFF file...so when I play the file in iTunes...I choose the option to "create mp3 version"
Now when iTunes does this, it creates an MPEG version which I assume won't load into iMovie...mp3s only, so I drag it to my desktop and then it's given an mp3 tag but it still won't load in iMovie 8
Any insight on this issue would be appreciated...

iMovie can handle MP3, AAC, AIFF.

  • Make ringtone in Logic Express 8?

I´d like to use a recording as a ringtone via i-tunes. But that only seems to be possible with the latest Garage Band, witch I don´t have (my old G5 Power PC seems to be too slow for i-live ´09). Is there a way to make the recording a ringtone-file in logic and send it to i-tunes?

Thank you BLU2.5 for your helpful post.
I have an old Garageband 2.0.2. I didn´t upgrade because I don´t actually use this program as I work with Logic. Now I found, the only way to upgrade Garageband is to buy iLife´09. For some of the features in iLife ´09 my 4 year old Power PC seems to be to slow, so I´m reluctant to install it, winding up with my old iLife-programs being out of function and the new ones don´t work. Buying a new Apple Computer? -not for a ringtone.
My iTunes has a folder "Ringtones" and the reason for not being able to put data in that folder might be, that I didn´t know about .m4r file till now. That seems to answer my question as obviously my Logic Express 8 is not able to convert an aiff-file or mp3.-file to an m43 file.

  • Why Is Logic Express 9 Afraid Of 2 GB Files?

I use GarageBand to record my podcasts. Sometimes - when the duration of the mono recording is approximately 1 hr - GB (32-bit) will crash when I try to export to MP3, because it's running out of available memory. I'll leave aside what I know about programming in 32-bit, and how UNIX-based OSes shouldn't have too much difficulty turning a 1 gigabyte GB proprietary data file into a 30 megabyte MP3.
I purchased Logic Express 9 because it could operate in 64-bit mode, and be able to get to the remaining 4 Gb of RAM on my iMac that GB couldn't see. For podcasts around 1 hr, this worked. However, now I've got a 2-hr podcast from GB, and LE9 is complaining that "the maximum file size of 2 GB has been exceeded." There's a post at:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6149049
but back in 2008 the posters expected Apple to fix this. The last post was three years ago.
Back in the days when Macs came equipped with drives that had 10's of gigabytes of disk space, I could see where putting 2 Gb out into the file system might be dicey. But my new iMac has over 1,000 Gb of space. Apple, are you kidding me? This is an arbitrary limitation for a machine that is both 64-bit and has 8 Gb of RAM not to mention 500 Gb of free disk space. ***?
The previous article had some suggestions that I'm about to try. But this is just stupid.
So, just to ask: is Logic Studio better? Did Apple hamstring Express? What about Logic Pro?
    Cheers,

    Fox:
My apologies for taking so long to  get back to you. I need to pay more attention!
So, GB really does crash when trying to export to MP3 of anything longer than about 1 hour 15 minutes or so. I did find a fix for this - there's an option in Preferences that if turned off GB will stop trying to do some kind of whole-track normalization while it does the MP3-compression. I haven't tried this on the 2-hour recording, but it works for the 1:15 recording. While in its failure behavior (i.e., before I turned off the option), I watched the memory usage of the entire machine while GB attempted to compress the MP3 and it crashed ("The application GarageBand has unexpectedly quit") as soon as it ran out of memory (i.e., its memory demands were 4+ Gb, which is the max for all 32-bit apps).
LE spins the beachball and then displays the aforementioned message about a max file size of 2 Gb. LE is running in 64-bit mode, but I have no idea why a file size of 2 Gb is a problem for it. Especially when the resulting MP3 file is smaller than 100 Mb.
My guess: Apple didn't stress-test either of these products with Really Large Files.
    Good luck with your endeavor!

  • Can logic express slow down or change the key from playbacks like the program "Amazing slowdowner"?r

    Hello,
I'm a new member and I'm actually trying to work with garage band to record voice and playback. Can "logic express" Vs. 8.0 slow down or change the key from playbacks like the program "Amazing slowdowner"? This is a programm wich costs 50 US Dollar and I want to decide if i buy it or not.
What is the hgreatest different between "garage band" and logic express 8.0? Who can hepl me, which is the right thing for me. I find it difficult to find out which effects are the best only to record my voice with playback.
    Thanks for your advices.

If you want to slow down the audio why not download a program from ABRSM called Speedshifter- its free and is very good.  you could export the audio from Logic and open the MP3 file with speed shifter. I think speedshifter  may also  have the ability to alter the pitch as well. I use it for Flute practice- its very useful !

  • Orchestral sounds for Logic Express

I purchased Logic Express believing there were plenty of orchestral samples/sounds beyond those of Garageband. I was sadly mistaken. Can anyone recommend any good orchestral VST or sound packages for Logic Express?
Are there any that are free to download? Or purchase?
And, what is the difference between a VST package and a garageband jam pack? Same thing but different??
Thanks for the help to this newbie to using VST's and LE.
    AD

Quick google tells me the difference between VST and AU (Garageband) is:
VST is the plugin used for both Macs and PC's so there are lots 'out there'.
AU's (Audio Units) use Mac OS X's native Core Audio. It seems that Logic can use both types, but Garage band can't (I may stand corrected as I don't use GB). The technical difference is, it seems that AU types are more 'efficiently' processed by OS X and the apple hardware - again this may or may not be true now that CPUs have moved on since the information I found on the 'interweb'. Some claim one is superior in sound to the other, but again I have no technical information that I have found to prove that.
I guess it's sort of the same difference between AAC and MP3, Apple can use both, one is considered superior in many ways, but the other is used more by the software manufacturers. I couldn't think of a car analogy
As to a pitiful amount of orchestral samples, yes I concur, compared to Logic Pro (which has a lot) Logic Express has about 20% of the total.
I haven't purchased any loops/samples from a third party myself, but you can find lots of 'free' download samples by searching.
    For instance:
    http://www.macloops.com/
    or
    http://www.platinumloops.com/
are two good places to start. You get some free samples to see if this is the kind of thing you want.
    Good luck.

  • Need advice on a switch from GB2 to Logic Express

    Hey people,
So I love GB2, obviously, but I can no longer stand not having any track automation. I want to be able to add effects to a single track in different sections, and of varying degrees. For instance, I want to increase the reverb on a single guitar track as it plays, instead of fading in a duplicate track with the reverb added. Know what I mean?
    So I want Logic Express.
My REAL question is the following: HOW MUCH BETTER AND MORE CLEAR WILL MY MUSIC SOUND WITH LOGIC? Is the 24-bit audio resolution available in Logic REALLY GOOD? Will recording midi and audio in Logic sound more "real" and less fakey? Sometimes my GB2 tracks come out sounding unprofessional, especially when exported to iTunes, converted to mp3 and burned to CD, and played in a car stereo. Something doens't sound right, you know what I mean?
Anyway, I want to know if it's worht it to switch to Logic for those two reasons: track automation and an overall increase in SOUND QUALITY.
You guys friggin' rock, thanks for your help.

GB2, as you know, exports a track to AAC format
It's AIFF that GB exports, which is uncompressed and the highest quality. AAC is another compressed format which again tosses out data.
Still, will Logic offer me higher sound quality?
This can easily become a Theory and Reality discussion. A LOT will depend on your expertise as an engineer. The end result, if you'll be burning a CD, will be a file sampled at a rate of 44.1K. This is the standard for CD audio regardless of what you use to create it.
LE will let you record at a higher rate than GB will, but a questionable recording, sampled at a higher rate will still be a questionable recording ... it'll just take up more disc space.
My opinion is that in the right hands, yes, one could probably get a better sounding recording with the expanded limits LE offers. In reality, just having LE is not going to make everything sound better.

  • Master volume adjustments aren't translating when i bounce projects from Logic Express, any tips?

    hi folks!
whenever i bounce a track from Logic Express it's always significantly quieter than any other aiff, mp3 or wave file i have, including those that i have bounced from garageband. Even if i crank the 'master' volume in the mixing window, it sounds loud in Logic, but  the bounced file is a big 'wanh wanh' and has absolutely no change in volume.
i must be doing something stupid.
is there another place i can adjust the master volume that the bounce will read?
does anyone else have this problem?
    i'm pulling out my hair.
any suggestions would be very welcome!
    thank you!

    Hi,
first of all: The "Master" Fader is for trimming your mix to your monitors only. The bounce will be taken from the "stereo output" channel, so look there for the correct volume.
Now for the loudness issue: Garageband has kind of a built in foolproof bouncing. Normally, you would have to adjust not only volume to be an loud as you wish, but you have to insert some plugins into the stereo output channel to ensure that the signal doesn't get any louder than 0db, because this will produce clipping and with raising volume, distort the sound. But:
You can raise the volume if you insert the LIMITER plugin as very last plugin into the stereo output channel. Make sure it is the last plugin so there are no changes to loudness after it, not even an eq!
Any change of loudness before the limiter will be limited (hence the name) to a maximum of 0db by default (you can change the value - i use -0.1 db just to be sure.) while the softer parts of the music are being raised in loudness. If you listen to it, you'll notice the whole song is louder without distorting. Of course, if you overdo it, you'll hear the squished dynamics. Experiment!
Garageband seems to have a built in preset to perform these tasks fairly well. In Logic, you have the freedom of using or not using these settings and to customize them, which is quite normal for a pro tool.

  • Logic Express 8 - Levels?

I am doing a compilation CD. I have individual MP3s that are all playing at different levels. Is there a way to select all of the songs and have them play at the same level using logic express 8?

1: Create a new song with a single stereo audio track.
2: Import your first MP3 file via the File menu.
3: Bounce the song to your favourite audio format, naming the resulting file to match the original MP3, and ensuring that the Normalise box is selected in the Bounce options.
4: Delete the audio region you imported, import the next MP3 file, and repeat.

  • Logic express 7 and reason

I know this topic has been discussed before, but my computer knowledge is poor so I have no clue what you guys are talking about. Maybe in baby steps, can you guys help me to figure out how to send my audio files made by logic express 7 to someone else (who lives far away) that uses Reason so he can add some of his stuff to my song? I really want to collab with him, but I have no clue how to send the music file or if Reason will accept the file. Thanks for help.

For you the step is easy. Just send him a .mp3 file (or better yet, an uncompressed .aiff) of your stuff. The person that receives your file will be the one who has to take on the task of using Reason with an audio editor like Logic or Pro-tools or Cubase (via the Propellerhead's Rewire software) so he can play along with your file.
Or, conversely, he can load in your file to one of Reason's sample player modules. I've never done that because it's an arcane process, but it's possible from what I've been told. Anybody else deal with this?
Personally, I use Logic through Rewire and used Reason as an "instrument," but I've done it with Pro-tools as well.

  • Logic Express Beginner begging for help

I recently made the step up into the Mac world and love everything about my new mac book pro except I am struggling with Logic Express. I have used Adobe Audition for many years and know it inside and out however...I cant even figure out to record my voice with a microphone.
I work in radio and only need the program to record my voice and to edit interviews (mp3 or wav files) for use on the radio. I tried hooking up my mobile pre usb pre amp up and downloaded drivers but couldn't get it to record. I can record using the built in my mic but the quality is insufficient for the airwaves.
I know this must be something very simple but I am struggling , thank you so much in advance for any help you can give.

    Hi,
I'd start with opening a Finder window, and go to Applications > Utilities > Audio/Midi Configuration. If you open this program, you can set your default audio inputs and outputs, and set the input level, for example. If your interface doesn't show up here, you can be pretty sure that Logic won't see it, either.
Then go to Logic, and look in Preferences > Audio >Devices. You should choose your USB preamp as your Device. As you can see, you can only choose 1 device here. BUT, in the Audio/Midi Configuration utility, you can "build" a virtual device consisting of more than one device (see the Audio menu of the utility). Just in case you'd like to use more than 1 interface in the future...
Anyway, check page 99 of Help > Logic Express 8 User Manual.
    Kind regards,
    Jaap

  • How to create an ABAP Query with OR logical expression in the select-where

    Hi,
In trying to create an ABAP query with parameters. So it will select data where fields are equal to the parameters entered. The default logical expression is SELECT.. WHERE... AND.. However I want to have an OR logical expression instead of AND.. how can I attain this??
Please help me on this.. Points will be rewarded.
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Question Man

    Hi Bhupal, Shanthi, and Saipriya,
Thanks for your replies. But that didn't answer my question.
    Bhupal,
You cannot just replace AND with OR in an ABAP QUERY. ABAP QUERY is a self generated SAP code. You'll just declare the tables, input parameters and output fields to be displayed and it will create a SAP standard code. If you'll try to change the code and replace the AND with OR in the SAP standard code, the system will require you to enter access key/object key for that particular query.
    Shanthi,
Yes, that is exactly what need to have. I need to retireve DATA whenever one of the conditions was satisfied.
    Saipriya,
Like what I have said, this is a standard SAP code so we can't do your suggestion.
I have already tried to insert a code in the ABAP query (there's a part there wherein you can have extra code) but that didn't work. Can anybody help me on this.
    Thanks a lot.
    Points will be rewarded.

  • Dynamic Logical Expressions in ABAP: IF (lt_cond)...

is it possible to have a dynamically constructured logical expression?
I have a condition I need to use in an IF, but I want to avoid hard-coding, so I dynamicallybuild it.
    for a simple example:
    CONCATENATE ITAB-f1
               'EQ'
               varValue
               INTO lt_cond SEPARATED BY SPACE.
    IF (lt_cond).
      WRITE:/ 'Success'.
    ENDIF.
Is it possible to do this?
    NL

I am trying to use the macro to check an IF (cond).
cond is a dynamically constructed condition.
The bold part of my code way below is my problem area.
I'm having no trouble getting COND constructed. But I am having trouble between my macro and the processing as my error always tells me I'm calling my macro without 2 actual parameters. Or when I DEFINE my macro with &1 instead of &1 &2, I get 'incorrect logical expression'.
I've read all the documentation I can find on this, but i still cannot figure out why my macro is not processing.
Code is lengthy, but if you can, please help.
I'm anticipating the output to be 'FAILURE' at this point. I just want the condition COND to be processed.

  • Logical expression( = , =, , ) in read statement

    Hi All,
Is it possible to use the logical expressions like (<= , >=, <, >) in the read statement?

While you can only use "=" with the READ statement, you can use the READ statement to position the cursor at the first record you want and then use the LOOP with your operators to get only those records you want (assuming standard tables that have been correctly sorted). This can be very efficient.
There have been many discussion about this in the forums. Please search and you'll see them.
