Logic Express with Oxygen 25 - no sound

I am trying to use an Oxygen 25 controller with logic express. In Logic I can see that it is receiving a midi signal but I can not get any sound from the midi controller to come out. There is sound from everything else, but not the midi.
I feel like there is an easy answer (or they are not compatible), but a little help would be nice.

Hi,
you have to use the Controller with a software instrument track that has a software instrument selected as "input". A Controller like the Oxygen does not make a sound of it's own, but merely sends MIDI data to Logic, which then uses this data to trigger it's software instruments.

  • Logic Express with MBox

Can someone please help. Can I use Logic Express with an MBox and if so how.

    Hey Roma,
    welcome to the forum!
Assumming you had the drivers installed, (in Logic) go to the audio menu>audio hardware & drivers>Driver (change from built in audio to Digidesign HW (MBox), Relaunch, that's it.
((Click on (say) audio 1 (to select track) Press R to arm it and you shoud now have sound level on metters. Don't forget the I/O in logic is audio 1 = input 1, audio 2 = input 2, audio 3 = input 1, audio 4 = input 2 and so on (by default))
    Kiddly regards,

  • Digital outs in Logic Express with 828 or 002 rack

Can someone tell me if it is possible to use the digital ins and outs of either my MOTU 828 or DIgi 002 rack with LE? It's no where as easy as Pro tools or DP!!

Forgive my naivety... when you say "digital outs" are you talking about SPDIF? Does this mean I can't run Logic Express with an interface connected to the SPDIFs on my G5? Only Pro? Or am I off the mark?
    Thanks!

I have just bought a 2011 iMac (2.5 ghz, 4gb) and logic express 9, and when i installed logic and tried to run it i had a message saying 'you can't use this version of the application logic express with this version of Mac OS X. How do i sort this out!? It is very frustrating as the main reason i have bought  a mac is to use logic! Any help would be great as i am a complete novice when it comes to Macs!

You're probably on OS X Lion?
I had the same problem as you. I used Software Update to update Logic Express to the latest version, and then it ran without any problems.

  • Problems Using Logic Express with Alesis Multimix 8

    Hi,
Does anybody have any experience of using the Alesis Multimix 8 USB with Logic Express 7.0.1? As far as I can tell the software is set up OK. The problem is that there is an awful amount of noise present on both the input and the output (sounds like inordinatley loud dither). The problem is also present on Garageband and iTunes but not with Cubase LE (bundled in with the Multimix).
I have searched and searched the internet for drivers for the Multimix but with no luck. At the moment I am just using the "core audio" USB codec drivers that are built in as I seem to have no other option.
Does anybody have any suggestions before I go ahead and buy another external audio interface? (got my eye on the new Behringer F-CONTROL AUDIO FCA202)

PS I am running OS X (10.3.9) on a G4 iBook (1.33 GHz, 1.25 GB RAM) and have done all the updates available for Logic Express 7.0(.1)
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

OK I understand it's helpful to others to post solutions should you find them so here goes:
It would seem that the problem is with the built in CODEC used by OS X. You can update using the drivers available at http://www.usb-codec.com
I used the demo version to see if it solved the problem which it did. However you need to buy the software to get rid of the annoying beep every 30 secs on the demo version. well worth it to get my hardware working properly though.

  • Can I use logic express with my Macbook

I just got a macbook and i was wondering if I can use Logic express or pro on it??

    yes!
it of coourse depends what you want to do with it - but yes!
by all acounts logic express and pro will run very well on the new macbooks.
I'm using pro on my old powerbook - just about manage to use it live and it's slow but useable to get ideas down onto and am using an intel imac as my main studio computer with logic pro 7.2.3 - it's essentially the same as a macbook except it doesn't have integrated graphics and it has a faster hard disk which does make a difference. Apart from that i'm sure your new macbook would toast my powerbook in terms of performance.
Be sure to get the intel version of logic (7.2 and above) as an older "ppc" version may run but is not supported and would probably run very slowly.
    Enjoy!

  • Logic Express with not Recognise Amplitube 3 as a Plug-in

I cannot get Logic Express 9 to recognise Amplitube 3 as a plug-in. What do I need to do to make get it to use Amplitube. I'm new to Logic Express and I'm enjoying the on-board amp sims, but I really love my Amplitube.

Hopefully you will find this thread of help... In particular the very last post by gtrman...

  • Advice needed on sharing/registering logic express with 2 users

Me and my mate, have got into audio production, and i am wondering if we can BOTH register the same logic program.
Is there a specific limit on how many users can be on one single program? Surely logic must allow you at least 2 users, say incase you have a mac at home, and one in a seperate studio.
All replys will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Dan
amd athlon xp   Windows XP Pro

    No Dan,
I'm affraid you can't do that, it's highlly Illegal,
You can't register one licence to two persons,
You can install it on two of Your machines, (not your mate's one)
for the reason that You can only use one at the time.
Otherwise, it will be a paradise, everyone would find software mates
and split the price and I would be on Pro instead of LE! :o)
I believe you can have LE as an academic (if you are one or your mate) for a fraction of the price.
Anyway, welcome to the forum, I wish that you have all the fun with LE and make nice music with it.
    Kindly Regards,

  • Logic Express with 10.5

Just upgarded to 10.5. I have Logic with MachFive and Stylus RMX installed and working, but I'm having trouble with Symphonic Orchestra. It seems as though I can't install it (because 10.5 doesn't support classic). Any ideas on how I can get Symphonic Orchestra installed and working?

Try using SheepShaver or starting up into Mac OS 9; if neither of those works, you cannot at this time.

  • Hard drive options for Logic Express with a Mac Mini

I'm considering getting a Mac Mini to use for recording video from a medical endoscopic camera. The reasons for choosing a Mac Mini are 1) low cost 2) small size and 3) no fans - blowing dust around an operating theatre can be a risk (therefore even if cost wasn't an issue, the fans would preclude other mac models).
I've been looking at the spec of a Mac Mini - they have 5400 rpm hard drives and only 1 firewire 800 port. I'm using a Canopus ADVC 55 to convert analogue video to DV which connects using Firewire.
Will the built in hard drive be ok, or should I consider replacing it with a 7200 rpm drive, or get an external Firewire drive. PResumably, with only 1 firewire port on the Mac Mini I would need to find either a hard drive with 2 firewire ports to chain devices (which I've heard can be a problem) or perhaps get a firewire hub (similar problem?).
Currently I'm using a MacBook Pro with an internal 7200 rpm drive and this works fine (except when it gets low on hard drive space and I get dropped frames, leading to complete loss of the recording...).

Thanks - I just did a quick search and there are some Firewire 800/400 'bilingual' hubs around at reasonable prices.
I'm tempted to try the Mac Mini server, and perhaps have the 2 drives in a Raid 0 configuration. I could then have it backing up to a Time Capsule overnight (to mitigate the risk of using Raid 0).
Recording to an external drive might be useful though - as it would be a quick way of moving the data to a Mac Pro for compression for archiving. I find moving 10-20GB files over 802.11n to be very time consuming.
I'll certainly bear the dust in mind in terms of the risk to the Mac Mini (I've seen PC's having failed power supplies because the air inlets have been clogged with dust). My main concern however would be the risk of infection due to the fans causing air movement. There is an enclosed space it could be located, not great for cooling though.

  • The synth pad sound Warm Pad has changed after upgrading from Logic Express 7 to Logic Studio

    Hello!
I have composed a lot of songs over the years using Logic Express 7, and my favourite synth pad sound there was a sound called Warm Pad (from the EXS24 Sampler).
A half a year ago I upgraded to Logic Studio, mainly because I needed WaveBurner. Happily, all my songs sounded exactly the same after the upgrade, except from 1 sound: The synth pad sound Warm Pad. It still got the same name and location, but the sound was replaced with a very sharp and much more distinct sound (not warm at all, in my ears at least).
I have tried to replace it with different synth pad sounds from the EXS24 Sampler, and the one I find to come most close to the old Warm Pad from Logic Express, is a synth pad sound called Pad 1. Still, I don’t think it sound exactly the same.
So, in order to finish all my songs and make an album, I ask you for help:
    1. Do you know how I can get EXACTLY the same sound as the old Warm Pad Logic Express, with my new Logic Studio?
    2. Have you experienced the same with sounds, after upgrading from one Logic version to a newer one? And what have you done to find back to the old sounds?
I will be VERY thankful for help, because I am not a genius in the mysterious (but yet exiting) world of synthesizer synthesis.
    Best regards,

I have the boxed version of logic studio.
When you install, if you pick the "ad hoc" installation you can add the logic7 patches to your existing patches.
I think running installation again you should be able to install just that.

  • Where can I find good organ and keyboard sounds for Logic Express?

Where can I find good organ and keyboard sounds for Logic Express? The included sounds seem to be lacking or hard to access.

Update: Not terribly impressed with the interface for NI's Vintage Organs from the demo download, although the sound demos sure sound good. The letters are tiny and hard to read and the whole thing feels very PC-centric. I guess a guy gets spoiled by the intuitive stuff. I think what I'll try for now is just hooking up my keyboard (Korg N1, circa 1998, about 1700 built in sounds) as a sound module and record the waveforms when I find a sound I like. I did find the EXS24 and several other software synths with some cool organ sounds after digging a little deeper. It would be good if Apple came out with another jam pack just for organs and keys, as the existing jam packs are so easy to use.

  • Recording a live DJ mix WITH LOGIC EXPRESS

    Hi
I really need to know how to set up and record through logic express with my new MAC. I used to use Soundforge with a PC but now am completely confused!
A bit of advice would be appreciated!

    1. Launch Logic
1b. go to Logic preferences and select your audio input source.
    2. file- select 'new'
    3. a window will pop up - audio or instrument - choose audio
    4. choose 'stereo' , I expect.
    5. Hit the record button and choose where you files are going to be kept
    6. record your thing
    7. In the master track that you probably see, choose 'bounce' Take note of the start and end point numbers. You would think when you tell it to bounce it would do that but - no - Logic needs to know bounce from where to where? Choose the file name and bounce away!! Good luck.
