  • Can't open iCalendar in Mountain Lion

When I try to open iCalendar in Mountain Lion "Calendar Cache" couldn't be moved because you don't have permission to access "Calendars"
comes up.  Further directions don't work.

I'm not sure what you mean by "iCalendar".
The current Mountain Lion app supplied by Apple is called "Calendar".  The old app had been called "iCal".
So iCal is now gone.  If you're talking about that, I don't know what to say.
If you're talking about Calendar, then I suggest running Disk Utility (in Applications > Utilities) and do a "Repair Permissions" on your hard drive.

I'm experiencing exactly the same issue... fresh install of Logic Pro, fresh update of Mountain Lion, everything up-to-date. Logic Pro crashes on start every time. I've trolled a number of forums and seen lots of references to ProKit.framework being the culprit. Some recommend downgrading this, but then there could be trouble with iPhoto and other apps. Some recommend waiting for the next OS update. I can't find a conclusive solution.

  • Safari won't open after installing Mountain Lion

I installed Mountain Lion (OS X version 10.8.5) on my iMac but Safari didn't update, and wouldn't open.  I separately downloaded Safari 6.2.2.  Safari still wouldn't open.  In trying to fix it, I apparently deleted needed files.  When I click on the Safari icon, the message box titled "Safari cannot be opened because of a problem" opens, and below are the error message details.
    Dyld error message:
      Library not loaded:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/WebKit2.framework/Versions/A/WebKit2
      Referenced from:
    /System/Library/StagedFrameworks/Safari/Safari.framework/Safari
      Reason: image not found
I am a novice.  Can I just download the missing material somehow?
I would appreciate some help with this.
    Thank you.

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • What version of airport utility should I use for my airport express if I'm running Mountain Lion?, What version of airport utility should I use for my airport express if I'm running Mountain Lion?

I can't configure my airport express because I get a message stating I need to run an older version of airport utility to support itk but when I try and install the older version, I get a message stating it can't be installed because it isn't supported.  Help!

Unfortunately, Apple did not include support for older AirPort devices in the recent "upgrade" to Mountain Lion. A few conversations with Apple Support indicate that Apple has no plans to change this going forward.
If you have another Mac there running Lion or Snow Leopard...or even a PC...you can use that device to administer the older AirPort Express.
If that is not possilble....and you have been using Time Machine for backups of your Mac....you can try to go back in time to locate the earlier version of AirPort Utility and restore it to the desktop. Then, simply move the AirPort Utility application into the Utilites folder and will co-exist with AirPort Utility for Mountain Lion.
Apple does not support this type of thing of course, so you will be on your own if you want to try an "unsupported" procedure like this.

  • Problem with Logic Pro and Soft eLicenser on Mountain Lion?

    Hi!
I have a bunch of Arturia synths, which requires the Soft eLicenser to work. This has always worked great with Lion, never any problems with eLicenser (never had to open it etc.)
Now - I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and tested my synths to make sure everything was OK, experienced a bunch of problems, and did a full recovery to clean Mountain Lion.
After installing the Arturia synths, and adding my licenses, I installed Logic. Everything worked fine!
    BUT!
When I closed an Arturia synth within Logic, or closed Logic after running a project with one of these synths, I couldn't reopen any of these synths within Logic afterwards - In fact, I couldn't open the stand-alones either! And when I tried to open the eLicenser Control Center, it would just say "Reading eLicensers" forever. After a reboot, everything is OK.
I can open and close eLicenser Control Center and standalone synths as many times as I want, as long as I don't open Logic, and then Arturia synths as an AU in Logic.
I found a workaround: Open the eLicenser Control Center, and let in run in the background (cmd+H), and then open Logic. Then I could open Arturia synths and close them, close Logic and reopen etc. without any problems at all. NO PROBLEMS.
Until I close the eLicenser Control Center, then I have to reboot to be able to start it again.
I hope you understand what I mean here. It's a bit hard to explain.
In short terms: Logic makes Soft eLicenser crash when a eLicenser synth has been opened as an AU.
The same problem is when scanning the AU with AU manager. eLicenser window should be open before scanning.
Does ANYBODY have the same problems? Can anyone who has these applications test it out?

So it definitely seems to be a issue with Logic.
I can't force this error in 10.7.X no matter how hard I try, but in 10.8.2 it's definitely Logic messing things up.
Could it be auvaltool which has a bug? Or is that only run with AU manager on validation?
Hopefully this discussion can get some attention, and maybe it could be corrected. I guess a lot of Logic Pro users also has eLicenser Control Center for validation of their products.

  • Pages wont work after installing Mountain Lion

After I installed Mountain Lion on my Macbook Pro 2010, Pages wont work, together with the whole iWork 09 package. I've tried re-installing, signing out of iCloud etc.. But nothing seems to work. It say the application is open but nothing appears on the screen, if i open a document its says its unable to open the document.?

Quite a few users have had problems but none seem exactly the same & the solutions are matter of trial & error. Two things that should be done, no matter what, are using Disk Utility to repair permissions & updating iWork '09 to 9.2. Some users have needed to delete the apps, particularly Pages, & reinstall to get them to work.

  • Can't open apps in mountain lion

i need to upgrade some software or apps since i downloaded mountain lion, however, i have no problem downloading them, i just cant open them.
mountain lion refuses to open any app or software i did not download from the app store. here is what the pop up tells me when i try to open  them
"Machacha cant be opened because its from an unidentified developer.
your security pref. only allow installation of ONLY apps from the mac app store
    and identified developers."
this aint gonna work for me, i need to download new software or apps elswhere to make things
    work again for me.
any advice? i went to security pref. but saw nothing that would uncheck to let me proceed.
    thank you
    tom

this helped me solve my problem but in a different way. i downloaded mountain this morning and after trying your advice, there is nothing called "gatekeeper" installed on my mac.
a spotlight search turned up nothing but a description of what a gatekeepers job was.
doing it your way i found i could control click the app and open it that way, gatekeeper was nowhere to be found in system pref. security tab.
thanks for your help, but now im confused that im missing something from my download and i wonder
    what else did not download.
    thank you again
    tom

  • Logic Express 8 won't startup after Lion upgrade

Well, today I upgrade my iMac from Snow Leopard to Lion. While trying to startup Logic Express 8, I got the a message saying that this version could not be run with the current OSX version.
That is strange, because I thought LE8 was an Universal Binary application. Does somebody know what I can do to fix this, except for upgrading to Logic 9 or so?

    Hi,
1st: The joke's on you. NEVER, absolutely NEVER touch a running system unless you have to. Next time, you'll know. Hope you made a backup?
2nd: No, sorry, Logic 8 isn't compatible with Lion. You'll have to upgrade to Logic Express 9.1.4, which is the only version that is compatible. Shame on apple for this, but that's just the way it is.
3rd: Downgrade to snow leopard to run Logic 8 again or buy Logic 9 and upgrade it to 9.1.4.
4th: Even better: Wait for Logic 10 to appear if you want to save some money. Guess it'll be out sooner or later.
Fox (will wait for a long, long time before upgrading)

  • RoundCube Webmail Authenticating against Open Directory on Mountain Lion 10.8.x

    Hello all,
I've been battling this issue for over a month with no success. Here is what we got:
Mac Mini Server running Mountain Lion Server 10.8.2 running Calendar, Contacts, Mail and Web services.
With there being no webmail present I've gone thru the process of installing RoundCube.
I'm using Postgres as the database.
When I test the ability to login I get the following error messages in the console.app
10/12/12 10:13:27.071 AM log[182]: auth: Error: od(andrew,::1): Authentication server failed to complete the requested operation.
    10/12/12 10:13:27.071 AM log[182]: auth: Error: od(andrew,::1): authentication failed for user=andrew, method=DIGEST-MD5
The first line I find the most interesting but have had no success determinign exactly what it means.
I'm using open directory to authenticate and it is working perfectly with every other service so I'm led to believe it's an issue between RoundCube and Open Directory.
ANY help would be appreciated emmensely!

Sorry about taking so long to get back on here working on this. I've switched over to MySQL. I had a hard time because mysql.sock was located under /tmp/ rather than /var/mysql/ but I fixed that by using the following command:
    sudo ln -s /tmp/mysql.sock /var/mysql/mysql.sock
Then I reinstalled roundcube. Here is my main.inc.php file:
