Logic Folder

I was recently searching through my machine to clean up certain things, and I noticed this 880.4 MB folder called Logic.  It is found in Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support.  I know Logic is sort of like an advanced version (professional version maybe?) of Garage band, but I also know it costs money.  I have not purchased it, yet I see an 880.4 MB folder.  What should I do with it?

Additional:
I believe it also appears or is added to when you download the additional content within Garageband so again, leave it well alone...
Cheers..

  • No Logic folder at Application support folder

    Hi,
Related to the following article, I want to move my logic content to an external harddrive.
    http://music.tutsplus.com/articles/how-and-why-to-move-your-logic-pro-x-sound-li braries-to-an-external-drive--audio-19567
1st question: There is no HD/library folder on my harddrive. The only library folder I got is HD/user/username/library
Is this normal? Becaus in the youtube video in the article there is.
2nd question: I don't find the logic folder in HD/user/username/library/application support
And I need it to move my content? Does mavericks have a different location for logic?
I'm runing Mavericks OSX version 10.9.2
I installed all of logic additional content.
Please help! I'm looking in to this for hours.

At the root level of your hard drive folder, you should see a folder simply named "Library" - inside that you will find an "Application Support" folder:
You just double-click the name of your boot folder (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you've named it something else) and you'll find the Library folder.

  • Script logic folder empty!

    Hello every body,
After installing Patch1 of BPC MS 7.5 SP04  I had a problem with script logic folder when expanding the Legal application in the Admin console. The folder is empty, no Logic found, even the Default.LGF!!!
When I try to create a new one through the "Create New Logic" link in the Action Pane, I get this error displayed:
System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'E:\BPC\Data\Webfolders\<AppSet>\AdminApp\Legal(my application)'
When I tried to access this path I didn't find it, I found: 'C:\PC_MS\Data\Webfolders\<AppSet>\AdminApp\Legal' instead.
PS:I performed an update for the client with an Admin Account, after installing the patch.
    Any help?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello,
Thank you nilanjan for your reply
    We have resolved the issue.
The problem was that on the BPC server on OS level the folder E:\BPC was not shared and we have added the everyone group to have access to the folder and now all the users that are using the BPC client can see the content of the Script logic in BPC Admin.
The File Share Server was pointing to E:\BPC\Data but the folder BPC was not shared and we have added the group: Domain Users to access the network path. Now we can see all the files in the appset  Production \ Application \Legal\ Script Logic . We can create a new Script logic with success.
    Thank you.

  • Proper location of the "Logic" Folder?

I've updated my system several times and have several boot disks with different OS installed and have noticed that I have "Logic" folders located in the following directories:
    Users/"home folder"/Movies/Music/Logic
    Users/"home folder"/Music/Logic
iTunes folder also exist in both of these locations.
Which is the correct location for these folders (including the iTunes forlder, while we're at it!)?
Can I consolidate them into one correct folder?
There is a third folder with quite a different purpose,  but also called "Logic" located here:
    "System Drive"/Library/Application Support/Logic

Generally, the Logic folder would be located within Music, alongside the iTunes folder. The idea is to save your Logic projects in there.
The Audio Music Apps folder contains Logic's assets. You are not meant to save your projects here, and your iTunes library folder shouldn't be here either.
If there is a Music folder in your Movies folder, it's likely that it was accidentally copied in there. If you accidentally drag Music into Movies, this can easily happen. But iTunes would normally still be referencing the original library in Music.

  • Where is the LOGIC folder ???

Hi. I installed Logic 7 on my Dual 2.3 for the first time today . I have 2 hard drives , one just for audio , so the install went to my system drive. Under applications i can see the Logic Icon which opens the program. Where is the physical folder , i mean where r the EXS24 samples etc.
Sorry its my first week with OSX.....
I shall be upgrading to 7.1 soon , so i will need to delete all this before installing that wont i ??
    Thanks
    Faisal

    Hey Faisal,
OSX, sorts all applications right down in the application folder. Asscociated folders and documents are sorted in a folder called Application Support.
So your "Logic folder" is located here: system drive/library/Aplication Support
You actually have another one here also: User(probably your name)/Library/Application Support
This one is for your own saved patches etc.
So the Factory Library to your Exs 24 are located in the first and your own will be located in the second, by default. You don't have to follow this though.
You will not have to delete anything to run the updater, actually, you really shouldn't!

    Erik

  • Do I need the Application Support: Logic folder for GarageBand?

I use GarageBand 10.0.1, but not Logic.  Today, I noticed a Logic folder in Application Support that's almost 800MB.  The largest sub-folder is EXS Factory Samples (637MB), which contains "Drum Kit Designer", "01 Acoustic Pianos" and "07 Guitars".  Since I don't use Logic do I need these folders?  If I delete the Logic folder, will it have any effect on GarageBand?
    Thanks in advance.

GarageBand 10.0.1 uses Logic samples (that are kept in the Logic folder you've mentioned). I would not delete those .

  • Logic folder corrupted and all projects lost (after update onto 10.0.6 most likely), is there anyway to restore them?

    Hi,
Has anyone experienced Logic Pro X's Logic folder corruption after update onto 10.0.6 (released 9.1.2014)? All my projects were disappeared from the folder and cannot find them anywhere with disc recovery tools, naturally no backups for the projects and set up Time Machine  few days after 10.0.6 update (quite nice!) and did not touch Logic for month or so and now all projects gone!
I would appreciate any help to get those recovered and yes the importance of backupping the projects is now finally understood by the hard way.
    Thx,
    Supercomp1

Will try this approach provided by

  • Project Manager not scanning Logic folder ?!

    Hi,
The most funny thing about the project manager is that, no matter what, I can't have it list my songs, projects or audio files of any types, which are all strored in ~/Music/Logic (as by default settings). Other files stored in any location on my drive (even within ~/Music) are properly found and listed. I've tried rescanning a dozen times. Of course, I've checked that this folder is not excluded from the scan list. Force-including it doesn't help either. Weird, no?
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance,
    Arnaud

Correction and addition (I can't get the edit button to appear on my previous post):
It's just the songs and project (.lso files) that can't be recognised in the ~/Music/Logic folder, as audio files in that folder (or sub-folders) are seen actually. Other .lso files in other locations of the ~/Music folder are seen, as I was sying in my previous post.
Besides, this should not be a preferences or database file issue, I suppose, since LP was brand new installed for the 1st time on my MPB only a couple of days before I launched scanning with PM and noticed the issue.
    regards,
    Arnaud

  • Getting Back Deleted Logic Folder

Hi. I need help bad!!!! A friend used my mac and in deleting some picture files, he accidently highlighted my logic folder and deleted it. He also cleared the recycle bin.!!
Is there any way for me to get back my folder? I have/had a LOT of songs in the folder and I'm devastated.

Sorry to see your problem. The advice here is good.
For the future, I strongly recommend regular backups of projects to CD or DVD, it might seem an expensive ongoing cost, but data recovery servics are very expensive. you could have burned 400 to 500 DVDs for what that kind of recovery could cost you.
For the future i recommend the following:
Keep your Logic projects in your user Music folder.
create a new user account for anyone who uses your computer and don't let anyone log on in your name.
If you want to share work with someone else on your machine put a copy in your public folder, log out and let them pick up the copy. That way no-one but you ever gets into your user account.
Yowever much you trust someone they can make mistakes. Itf you erased your own Logic folder you would kick yourself, but this kind of thing can put friendships under severe strain. To me this is not a matter of trust but of common sense.
Out of interest though, how did he delete Logic files when he was deleting photos? Surely they are not in the same folders. Did you have everything in your documents folder?

  • Where is Logic folder in mountain lion

Where do I put my Sampler Instruments, Plug-In Settings, etc..... in Mountain Lion?

    User/Library>Music>Audio Music Apps>Sampler instruments.
Give it a try, I'm not clear about what you're trying to achieve.  I personally don't have hardly more than a few "samples" that I have edited in EXS24.  So then I just import them from those projects when I want to use them in new projects.
There are much more knowledgable peeps than me, and I imagine your problem can be solved!

  • An eligible Logic Pro version was not found in the Applications folder. This update requires Logic Pro version 9.0 or higher.

Get this error when trying to install Logic patch 9.1.4 to my machine.
An eligible Logic Pro version was not found in the Applications folder. This update requires Logic Pro version 9.0 or higher.

Thx, but i had already read that and tried it: did not work.
Got it fixed now by reinstalling Logic Studio 9 from DVD.
That indeed creates the Logic Pro folder in Applications - something I had tried earlier by simply moving my existing Logic folder. This means the Logic 9.1.5 update does not simply check a folder name: there must be another entry/registry entry it checks. Reinstalling Logic Studio from scratch solved it for me.
After reinstalling thought Lion forgot my Focusrite Saffire 40, so no DAW. Solved that by reading a forum entry on beta drivers.
So I am happy, music creation wise.
Left for me is to solve the X Mail application saying it does not run under Lion!

  • No eligible version of LOGIC found in applications folder to

Have 7.0.1 insalled; trying to update to 7.1.1. Installer can't find an eligible version to update in apps. folder. Un-checking language in info section nets negitive results. Also put Logic folder on Desktop, then tried to update; no good. OS 10.3.9 should handle it, Any thoughts?

7.1.1. installs on 10.3.9., but not on 10.4.0..
    Get error message as above.
I use a generic version of both OS's.
As a matter of interest, I rebooted Logic 6.3.1 in OS 9 recently,
and tested its basic abilities. Found that it is far more responsive
and quicker in the essential operations. The original code has been changed for OSX and I think performance suffers on older machines. Dual boot machines are really useful as they provide a back door to OSX.
I submit that the differing "Builds" found with OSX could cause the incompatibilities I, and others, have.
RE: Limiters. I try not to use much limiting, but rather process each track separately. I also don't get the obsession with making the mix "louder" thru squashing the signal. My notion is for people to get more powerful hifi systems and just turn the volume up more. I find listening to brick walled audio really unrewarding. I also laugh at the "quality" of mp3's - anything that drops data out can be no good for audio/music. I have friends with G5's and am sticking with my G4 until Apple releases something truly useful to the pro composer/musician. Nuff Sed!!

  • My Logic Pro EX24 Folder OXS 10.9.4

    Can anybody help!
Ive bought 3rd party sample packs which contain a load of EX24 samples, before i updated my mac pro i used to find my sampler instruments folder in User/Applications Support/Logic/Sample instruments.
I've loaded loads of sample in this way before and they still show up, but can't find the folder to install the new samples.
Anyone share some light on this...

    Hi
Firstly, note that in Maverick, the User Library folder is hidden by default. In the Finder, hold down Option whilst using the Go menu to get there.
Secondly: NOTE that LPX uses a new location for this sort of data
    User:Music:Audio Music Apps.
If you already have the 'conventional' User:Library:Application Support:Logic folder, this will become "Hard-Linked" to the new location (i.e. any changes you make to one will affect the other).

  • How Can I Stop Logic Creating Folder In MY MUSIC

Everytime i open logic, and garageband. It creates a folder in my MUSIC folder entitled Logic.
I Save all my projects, bounces, samples, sounds, etc in a Projects folder on my desktop and I do not see the need for this folder. Is their a way to direct it elsewhere, or stopit fromhappening all together?
    Thanks

    Hi
Why not Just create an alias of the MY MUSIC->Logic folder on your desktop, instead of the actual folder on the desktop?
    Just a thought.
You could first do a Save As..., and direct Logic's Save As... window to where you want, before later saves.
Don't forget to set your Save Assets checkboxes as you might need them.
    Cheers
