Logic freezes while loading Space Designer presets

Logic freezes while loading Space Designer presets when I am working on my template and songs. If I create 1 track in a new empty project there is no problem with Space designer.

And with Logic 8, I am stumped as to how to find all of my samples and virtual instruments that I used in Logic 7...Where is the "folder" that I drag my Sampler Folder alias into? Any clues?

Logic crash when loading 3rd party space designer preset

Hi,
I am having problems loading 3rd party space designer presets in a specific project. When I load the presets in a new song there is no problem. I would like to use the presets in this specific project, so maybe somebody knows a solution.
I already tried system maintenance like
- running the regular cron scripts
- repairing permissions
- removing the logic preferences file
My setup:

- 4 GB DDR SDRAM

A quick update: logic crashes in more cases now. Last time I was working on volume automation in the arrange window.

Java applet freezes while loading on Firefox on Mac OS 10.9

I am using Mac OS 10.9.4 with Firefox 32 and Java 7 update 67. The java applet freezes while loading for the first time. On double clicking, it loads successfully. Once the applet gets loaded then it loads successfully until the web-page is refreshed or cache is cleared. I don't see any error message or any errors in the java console logs. Any help on this issue, apart from the double click work around? Any permanent solution?

This delay can also happen when Java has been unloaded from memory and needs to be reloaded from disk and (re)initialized.
You may be tight on available (free) memory if this happens all the time.

Safari freezes while loading

I am running Safari 4.03 on a G4 Mac with os x 10.4.11.
About once a day, Safari will freeze while loading a page. The stop loading button does nothing. Eventually I have to force quit. Anyone know anything?

I'm kinda a noobie to a mac so forgive me if this is lame. I was reading this post and i have kinda the same problem except when i go to open safari it just flashes and says that it can't be opened. I have reset safari and emptied the cache and it still won't open. Although sometimes when i go to open safari if i click on the top sites button in the far left corner when trying to open safari it will open that way and let me use safari to surf anywhere i propose to search. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'm running Logic Studio (upgraded from L7) on a core duo iMac, osx 1.4.10
Selecting a preset in Space Designer crashes Logic.
Any preset does this and it does it every time.
Anyone else experiencing this?

So:
Spotlight off = Spacedesigner crashes while selecting preset.
Spotlight on = No crash.
I never would have guessed that. To tell you the truth, Logic8 loads a little faster now as well. Cool.

Space Designer Presets and Impulses... Gone?!

I'm stymied...
Been wanting to audition some Space Designer reverbs, but for some reason all of the presets were gone from the settings menu. I don't remember what I did exactly, but I found them and moved them into the SD settings folder somewhere on my system. And now I have all of my presets back. But...
Every time I load one of the presets, Logic asks me where the .sdir file is for it.
This never used to be a problem. Why it's different today is beyond me. But anyway...
Can someone please tell me where .sdir files are supposed to be located? And also, just so I'm sure everything is where it should be, where should the SD preset settings live?

IMac -Intel-freezes while loading.

It all started today while it was unsually slow. I verified the disk permissions and it took for ever.
I reset it abut it just freezed on the apple logo while loading. Any idea?

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.
Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

Any advice for space designer preset?

just would like to know what's the best preset from ur point in he space design..
my taste in term of reverb is more like lexicon 480, AMS,and real old plate.
any goodies?just to lazy to listen to all those preset.

I use matches and petrol.
I used to use any of the space designer rooms that didn't colour the sound too much - not many of those. I have since moved to Altiverb and am loving it.
Any reverb sound has to be appropriate to the material. I understand about all the presets. I started off one afternoon intending to try them all and got as far as about 3. If you have an idea how long you want your reverb to last, then you can start auditioning only those that are within the right ballpark.
It's a real eye opener to use Space Designer as an insert rather than an aux send effect. Balancing the wet and dry can really put the sound in a space, rather than just giving it some kind of a tail

Logic freezes while recording ...

logic freezes when I try to record audio . I think the logic/finder is trying to ask where i want to save the files but it just crashes and I have to restart logic and finder . ANY HELP ?

Arch Linux freezes while loading modules

I'm having a problem loading Arch.The loading stops while loading the modules and I get get a bug:

I used the "Don't Panic"-Installer.

I'm coming straight from Ubuntu, so I'm not really a hardcore Linux-user, but I'm learning and hope to be able to have a full-working installation of Arch up and going soon.

I reinstalled Arch(Base-packs only), but I still get the message: "BUG: Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address xxxxxxxx". The number changes each time.
I was actually able to load Arch successfully one time, and log in as root. Then I changed the locale in rc.conf, uncommentet in locale.gen and rebootet. And there it was again. I tried to change the values back to what they were before I changed them via PXE, but it still wouldn't work. I then tried to reinstall, but I still get the same message. Allthough, the installer-program runs without errors and I don't have to issue mkswap- and swapon-commands manuallly now. At least the installprosess seems to work now
Oh, and by the way... Kubuntu and XP runs without issues on my pc.

EXS Freezes when loading third party presets/audio files

Hello,
I am using Logic 8 with OS 10.6.8, macbook pro
The EXS factory presets load fine for me. I put a preset bank in the EXS preset folder/area and the samples for it on my system drive. When I choose any preset from there, the EXS freezes trying to load the samples. It doesnt get even get to one sample.
I have tried:
Reinstalling
Removing the preferences
Juggling the memory setting the EXS
Anyone able to shed some light??

Your EXS24 instruments and samples need to be re-linked, otherwise this delay will happen every time and it will drive you nuts.
Logic used to have a feature called Project Manager which did this. What happens is this:
The .exs files (instruments) contain info about where the samples are located. When you get 3rd party stuff, the paths that are written into the .exs files might look like this:
Fred's huge drive/Samples for products/Section01/Bass samples/ etc etc
Because your drive doesn't have any of these file paths, Logic scans your whole system to locate the samples.
The only real option is provided by Redmatica (www.redmatica.com)
You need ProManager or EXSManager. Either one will re-write all the file paths and sort out this problem. You need to read the instructions for the process to be successful.

[Mac] Illustrator freezes while loading plugins

Hi all,
We have Adobe Creative Suite CS5 Design Premium installed on an iMac running OS X 10.9.5. No internet connection available (machine in a locked down environment)
The issue: Illustrator and InDesign freezes for around 60 secs when GUI is loaded (got past the initializing screen). No issue for other apps.
What I have already tried:
1. Did a clean uninstall/reinstall
2. Reviewed logs at /tmp/amt3.log and found no warning or errors
3. Did a Mac OS Safe boot, same issue when Illustrator GUI is loaded
4. Deleted Adobefnt*.lst, same issue
5. Tried new admin account, same issue
6. Tried removing plugins under /Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS5/Adobe Illustrator.app/Plug-ins/Extensions, issue is gone.
On step number 5, I tried to single out the individual plugin under that folder without any luck. Looks like a combination of those plugins caused the issue.
Could you please advise if this is a known issue or it's just simply this iMac need internet connection to check for something upon startup? I noticed these in the amt3.log

OMF from PT9 into Audition 5.5 - freezes while loading

Greetings everyone.
My problem is very basic: I have an OMF (~ 1,5 Gb, ~6200 files) exported from PT 9. While I try to open it, Audition eats ~3,7GB of RAM and freezes.
I have a PC with Win 7 64 bit & 8 GB RAM.
So, isn't there a way to tune something to make Audition use less RAM or smth else? My friend who uses Audition 5.5. on Mac with 4 GB RAM can open this OMF (afterwards it works very slow, but it opens)

The freeze certainly sounds like it is running out of addressable RAM. Since Audition is only a 32-bit application, it can only "address" up to 4 GB of RAM (even though your system may have more physical RAM installed). However, in reality the number can be a bit less than 4 GB depending on your OS and some other factors.
Off the top of my head, there's probably not much tuning that we can do to prevent us from eating up so much RAM when going through thousands of files. But the experience might be better if we can first save the OMF as a SESX file, and have the files encapsulated within the OMF (I'm assuming it is an encapsulated OMF) extracted.
So here's what I'd try.
Check to see if all of your files extracted from the OMF properly before the freeze. Look in the folder into which you told the files to extract and see if they're all there. It is likely that the freeze happens well after the extraction point so I think there's a good chance that that can complete properly. Go ahead and let it freeze and then restart the app...
Re-Open the OMF, but instead of choosing a folder to where you should extract the OMF, press [ Cancel ]. This should still build the session, but all the clips should be offline/unlinked. If that completes successfully, Save this as a SESX, preferebly in the same folder as all the audio assets you extracted in step 1.
Close Audition and Relaunch, re-open the SESX and relink the media if necessary. At this point, you may or may not run into the same RAM problems as before, but my guess is that it might be less.
Alternatively, You could close all of the Panels in the workspace (e.g. Close the Editor Panel, Mixer Panel, Files Panel, etc...). Then try to Open the OMF and save it as a SESX. This method could potentially use less RAM, but I'm not sure how much of a dent it could make.

Power Mac G5 :: Freezes While Loading OS X

ok so today, i went to a friends house to backup their power mac g5, i backed it up all fine, then removed the backed up files from the computer (I DID NOT TOUCH THE SYSTEM FILES) i then reeboted the computer and it got as far as the loading osx screen then it just froze there. Can someone please help? mabye there is a way to reset it? Im not sure what version the osx is.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
