***...Logic goes Bananas!

Hey everyone..
i got a major problem...
while tracking vocals the other day the weirdest and very annoying thing happened..
id just finished comping all the vocal takes so there were like 3 tracks of vocals all overlapping from section to section...
we had a listen through the final takes and all was good... then i saved the session as you normally do...
after we had finished for the night we went back to have one last listen to the track we did the vocals on earlier... about half way through the song the vocals had been replaced...only for a couple of regions....by regions of the kick drum and the overheads... the weird thing is they were still named what the vocal tracks should have been..! ***
then all panicky with the paying clients looming over my shoulder i went into the audio files folder and imported back in the original file names which were fine...
i got the song back on track ...but why the **** did it do this with completely unrelated regions???
I also lost one whole take from the comp....gone from the hard drive completely...none of this was my error BTW!
I am running the latest update of 7.2.2 on a G5 dual 2 with 2.5 gig ram to an internal SATA drive (not the OS drive)...

file corruption can happen.
hi, if your working commercially, it'll pay you to defrag the audio drive a lot.
generally, after each recording session/edit session.
also if you drive is more than half full, pay special attention.
the above is my routine. on every paid session.
my drive are old, i've still the original which runs os9. they're still humming after 6years at virtually 24/7!!!!
by maintaining them, they should give you better service for longer.

For Physical standby, since it's block to block identical with primary. You could use backup of primary to recover physical standby. There's usually no need to backup physical standby.
For logical standby, since you could have other schema hosted on it in addition to the one that protected by data guard. It's good idea to have separate backup from primary.
Otherwise, rebuild from primary is always an option.

Is this version of Logic going to work for me? (....bugs, freezes, etc.?)

Everyone:
I am just getting into music composition but am fairly serious about it. I am setting my self up with the necessary components to start composing and recording (firebox, controller, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, guitar amp, bass amp, etc.)
I have a powerbook g4 and I am hoping that this machine will run this version of Logic well, it doesn't have a lot of other stuff on it and what is on there now can be taken off. I have heard that there are some bugs in the software and that some people have had some issues with freezing, etc. Is this logic package worth it... ? Is there a version of logic that would make more sense to get... ? Will my powerbook g4 be able to handle the application?
My main concern is that I buy a mixing application that is going to work, and work well... please help!!!

Looking at your equipment and what you're going to be recording I would recommend Logic Express 8 which has 85% of the features of Logic Studio (as far as the Logic application goes). It's lighter in weight (less disk space) and you lose nothing by purchasing LE because it's upgradeable to Logic Studio at no extra expense. I've advised several clients to purchase LE and not one of them have been disappointed, a well known music mag has called Logic Express, "Logic without the extra expense and extra cr@p".
What is the speed of your Powerbook and how much RAM do you have?
The most important thing besides having the minimum processor speed requirement is RAM.

Logic goes to mono when recording or get low volume

Hello,
When I am recording in loop mode (audio) (green Bar at the top) after the first pass, sometimes the track that I am recording on get lower in volume or goes mono on me in my headphones. I don't know why. Never happened before I got all my updates and mountain lion. Please help.

Anyone have any guesses... I have tried a track 16 from motu and now only the 896 from motu and it is still happeneng. Maybe its a setting that I have pressed. I am lost for an answer.

Program-logic goes not again in EXIT_SAPLMEREQ_010 after corrected message?

Hi expert,
I am using EXIT_SAPLMEREQ_010 in ME51N to add customer messages and it is nicely displayed on pop-screen. After the user correct the messages and press SAVE button, it is not going again in EXIT_SAPLMEREQ_010 and all the same messages are displayed. NO REFRESH?!
Can anyone help me?

Oh, I found a bit more information on this. I was able to make it crash even with my POD completely disconnected and recording from the laptop mic. But heres the process.
Create a new empty project (compose for instance). Add a stereo real instrument channel with record on. Block off 4 bars and set them up to loop. Hit 'R'. Wait for 4 loops. Hit Space. Wait a couple seconds. Hit 'R'. Boom it hangs every time.

STUCK Threads.... Web Logic goes to overloaded state

We are facing production problem with struck threads and WL server is going to overloaded state very frequently. When this happens, we have to restart the server to void this issue. Since we dont know when this problem occurs, our support team has to keep monitor the server all the time.
The environment details are:

WL:      WebLogic 10.3.0.0
OS:     Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 8)
We are extensively thread using the thread pool in application. These threads are being used to write the logs into DB, file system, monitor the timeout of external connections, etc. The issue has been seen various places like log4j, httpClient, etc. Here am sending the thread dump of an issue.
If you could help what is the an issue, it would be great help.

You have to debug the logging in your environment, for example, by using JRockit Mission Control in particular a flight recording

Garageband struggling with Plugins. Is Logic going to be any better?

Hey all
Ive got what I thought was a pretty decent iMac (3.06 GHz INtel Core 2 Duo - 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 - 500GB with 120GB of free space) for DAW music production, but Garageband is seriously stuggling and becomes so very slow when I use plugins with it.
Does anyone know if Logic handles plugins any better/quicker?
I'm only running a couple of plugins on a couple of tracks.

It depends on the plugin.
The plugins that come with Logic run very efficiently with it. Some 3rd party plugins are CPU hogs.
It's not a Garageand vs. Logic thing, it really boils down to the plugin and, of course, your computer.

Logic goes nuts when changing between 96k to 44.1k

Hi,
I need to restart my computer a few times until it finally allows me to move between sample rates (some arrangements are 44.1k most are 96k.)
I'm using Logic 8, PT 7.4 HD3 accel.
Any thoughts would be welcome.

I'm pretty sure that an external USB drive won't have the bandwidth to handle real time playback of 40 24/96 audio files.
20 44K files requires a quarter of the throughput compared to 40 96K files, hence why you don't see the problem working with 44K files or smaller track counts.
I presume your disk meter is peaking when playing back the song?
Try putting the audio files on a FW400, FW800 or eSATA drive - you'll get much better disk throughput.

The laptop says kernel error, but after downloading GFX card status the laptop keeps on getting restarted. Oh why did i buy a macbook?

Either your Mac is broken, or you have something installed which isn't compatible. Hard to tell without the kernel panic log.

Firefox 8 Going Bananas

After upgrading to Firefox 8 (final build), some new issues happen ''intermittently'', some of them:
1. Missing bookmarks in Bookmark menu and the Bookmark button (opening Bookmark Manager shows everything still exist there).
2. Missing Auto Complete entries (previously entered text wouldn't show in any text field).
3. Add-ons Manager wouldn't load.
4. Cycling through open tabs using CTRL+TAB (+SHIFT) make an empty dialog (just with some number & OK button) appears.
5. Trying to close Firefox 8 with multiple open tabs resulting in an empty dialog box with OK and Cancel button, but clicking either one yields nothing (the dialog persist). Need to click the close ("X") button.
6. When using DownThemAll, if there is a non-resumable download, trying to close it resulting in same dialog box as in #5, even after closing all open windows and tabs. Need to kill firefox.exe process tree.
7. When trying to download something (clicking on a link), an error message appears (the same dialog box when a download using built-in downloader is interrupted).
8. Opening about:support page yields an empty page - just tables with no data (just realized when I want to collect Troubleshooting Info below).
... and others, which I'll update later.
-My workaround is just to close Firefox (if cannot, end the firefox.exe process tree in Task Manager), wait for a bit, and open Firefox back (& hope everything will be okay).
Notes:
1. This problem occurs after upgraded to Firefox 8.
2. I don't use Aurora, nightly, beta; just stable release channel.
3. I only have a few add-ons, namely AdBlock Plus, DownThemAll, etc. (cannot check, Add-ons Manager cannot be opened now - DTA is downloading a non-resumable file, so cannot close Firefox).

P/S: It seems since Firefox 8, DTA always cannot resume (and of course no 'multi-parting' a download to accelerate it too), even from a server that's known to support multi-connection before.
P/P/S: To be clear, NONE of above issues happen when I was on Firefox 7.0.1.
P/P/P/S: I'm writing this from IE9.

SS1: 'Phantom' dialog box which clicking "OK" or "Cancel" yields nothing (need to click the "X" button to make it go away);
SS2: Downloading issue (cannot download anything - this error will pops up);

2. master region accordion tab displays fine
3. accordion content fails to resolve image src correctly. It ignores reference to first dataset--portfolios.xml

File Save As Crashes Logic

Attempting to File Save As in Logic crashes the program. Tried complete
reinstall of the app. and software updates but the issue remains. Any ideas?

I'm going bananas. I have the same symptoms, crashing on fileselectors on certain files. I tried the System Optimizer, I tried went looking for the inputmanagerfiles that apple told me to remove but I don't have them at all. I suspected Altiverb to be the cause and sent crash log and the whole d*mn project to them but so far they're not able to recreate the problem. Any clues? I've already trashed p.lists and caches and tried making a new user. It is definately a file-selector issue and it seemed to go away when I removed Altiverb. But now I've been able to generate the bug also without altiverb. Any thoughts?
