Logic GUI not in sync with audio

A freshly-installed Logic 8 on a clean Mac Pro 2.26 (x8) results in badly synched graphics.
The meters in all of my plug-ins do not sync up with the audio -- doesn't matter which. More specifically, the graphics are coming before the corresponding audio.
This occurs no matter what the latency sample value is set at -- 128 or 1024.
This is definitely a Logic problem, not a plug-in problem, because when I duplicate the settings in GarageBand, the graphics are in sync. Even a basic one audio track with a 2-bar drum loop isn't synched.
Any suggestions?

if you have uad plugin on the master or in the AuX the GUI if the track will not in sync.. but the meter of the master out is the only one in sync
This is the same on any system!
Is not related with mac pro 2.26 x8!

This is a last ditch effort to try to find some definitive help. Everyone has a sad story when things go awry with video capture. Here's mine: I recommended the Apple platform and iMovie for my wife for documenting a how-to for a particular hair style transition. Something she can't recapture. We used a MacBook Pro's built-in camera. All went well until she noticed from the beginning of the daily captures that the audio and video would fall out of sync within clips shortly after she started. After she was done and mentioned it, I discovered that the six or so clips that make up the project varied in their frame rates (project is set to 30). One clip with a frame rate of 28 is fine, but the rest have slower frame rates. The total project length is approximately 15-20 min....
Detaching the audio from the video and exporting to QuickTime (as suggested by most) makes no difference. I've also seen suggestions about moving the content to MPEG Steamclip and doing "something" with it but I'm not video editing savvy so exactly "what" nyone is supposed to do via that solution is an unknown..
I've been all ofver the web searching for a way to change all of the clip's frame rates to 30 fps since the one clip at 28 frames is acceptable. A foregone conclusion. However, I can't seem to find a way to do this anywhere.
Would really like to rescue the two weeks worth of work my wife put into this effort.

The basic problem you are facing is the use of the internal camera. It is designed for simple web cam usage rather than movie making. If you are making a Face Time call, the variable frame rate helps you, because when there is not a lot of movement, it will slow down the frames and give you better performance at a lower bandwidth. If the audio is a little off you do not care.
Long term, you can solve this by using a camcorder that shoots at a constant framerate.
For your immediate problem, I think that the suggestion to use MPEG Streamclip was a good one.
Basically, you would be dragging in this file with the variable frame rate and using MPEG Streamclip to save it out as a file with a constant framerate. You should now have a file at 30 fps with audio to match, within reason.
Try dragging your clip into MPEG Streamclip. Click the PLAY button so you can see that it plays. Then FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME. For Compression, choose Apple Intermediate Codec. Leave the sound setting as Uncompressed. In the Frame Rate box, type 30. Click the check box for Frame Blending. Deselect the box that says Interlaced Scaling.
Finally, click the MAKE MOVIE button, and give at a name. Save it to a location where you can find it. You can then import this into iMovie if you want, but using FILE/IMPORT MOVIE in iMovie.

IChat video not in sync with audio

Hi Everyone,
For the past six months I have been trying to resolve issues with the video chat. It all started with me updating my brother-in-law's iMac G5 from Tiger to Leopard. Before the update we were able to video chat with no problems. Since the update the video has been out of sync with the audio. We tried all the remedies that have been posted (setting Quicktime Streaming to 1.5Mbps, limiting iChat bandwith to 500kbps, deleting the plist files in the preference folder) with no luck.
In the interim we have been using Skype to do our video chats, and that has been working just fine. However it has been bugging me that we can use iChat. We were hoping that the recent updates from Apple (10.5.5 and the Quicktime patch update) would have fixed the issue.
Now with all the updates we are partially fixed. The video feed that I get now is fine and looks like it is in sync with the audio. However, my brother-in-law sees me out of sync with the audio (the video is at least 10 sec behind the audio, and gets worse the longer we are connected)
We have tried all that we could think of including using the MobleMe and the .Mac accounts to log in but so far no luck. I'm wondering at this point if it is his modem (about 3 year old) that is causing him to get a delay? We tried connecting the modem directly to the iMac without the router, but it made no difference for the video sync issue.
The other issue we have been dealing with is his Linksys router (don't remember the model but, it's the one without the wireless capability) causing screen sharing not to work. He has tried disabling the firewall on the router but that has not worked. It will only work if we pull the router off and connect directly

Some modem features such as a SPI filter which checks the Incoming data stream for any app has the potential to get in the way.
It is not uncommon for the amount of data to arrive faster than the SPI part can deal with it.
If his router has an SPI filter/firewall then he should turn it off.
It may pay to Power down all items such as the routers and computer and potentially the modem and restart them all.
Also try Restarting his Mac with holding down AppleALT+PR until he hears three Start Up Bongs.
If this does not work get him to access the Linksys and on the front "Set Up" screen he will have an MTU settings. Get his to set this at 1492 (the default is 1500 and should be reduced by 8 each time if changed - it changes the packet size and may help).

Captured video not in sync with audio

I capture video and audio from a Sony Beta SX A-75 using the SDI output through Blackmajc card into dual 2.5. We are using DV compression. The audio is out of sync after capture. It is 3 frames off. If I slide the video 3 frames to the right on the timeline , then it looks ok.
Capture/Input Blackmagic NTSC-DV
Device Control Blackmajic NTSC 29.97 Hz
Anyone know what's going on?

Either the sample rate of the audio is off, or, as I suspect, some decks/cameras have to be given an off-set in FCP. Don't remember off hand where that setting is. You may want to check with Blackmagic (Decklink) support about it.

Photo Booth video not in sync with audio

I searched this problem and saw something about downloading a Combo. I tried that (and the step by step restart, etc that was offered in that discussion) but it will not download on my macbook pro. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4175034?start=15&tstart=0 It says is cannot be installed on the disk because the volume does not meet the requirements. I am using OSX 10.8.2. I would appreciate any help. I'm pretty new to the lingo, so the explicit the directions are the better. Thanks in advance for your time.

Video not in Sync with Audio

Watched my first live match today, or I should say tried to. The video was about 2mins plus behind the audio. Nothing worse than hearing a goal has been scored and not seeing it until 2 mins later, also site kept breaking link. Not impressed!

Np people are hoping BT will remove it and sort it out once and for all
sky twitter account a customer ask why sky go streams are worst then sd and yet bt and eurosports apps stream in hd. Reply from mod, oh thats easy the files for hd are some huge that sky go can't play them and no app can stream hd due to this and so when they say they are they're really sd streams, if there was any way around this we would have done it now.

Picture not in- sync with audio on Mac and Apple TV

I bought "Bait" through the itunes store.
After about 3-5 minutes the sound is behind on the picture. Not synchronized anymore. Apple told me to reload, which I did without any hope of change.
Do you have any ideas???
PS: it's on Apple TV as well as my Mac!!!!!

Some videos not in sync with audio..

some of the dvd's i put on my ipod have a problem..the audio is sometimes 6 seconds behind whats going on..how can i fix this when converting?

What program are you using to convert. If it is videora that is probably your problem. There are issues with that program and sound. You might want to try another conversion program if that is thee one that you are using. Hope this solves if for you. SWF is not in sync with audio

Hi all,
I have SWF file which contains audio as well as ActionScript2.0. When i am trying to insert it in Adobe's Captivate 5 by using Insert>Animation then after publishing it in HTML and run this HTML, some overlapping audio comes.
Please help me ASAP.

Track automation not in sync with playback

As of today any track automation that I manipulate is out of sync with the track by a beat. So if I adjust low frequency cut to jump from 20Hz to 1kHz at measure 64 1 1 1, when I playback it will make that adjustment at measure 63 4 1 1 instead, despite me looking at the line that's jumped from 20Hz to 1kHz on 64 1 1 1. Am I going crazy?
This doesn't happen to any PREVIOUS track automation, but only new track automation. And it's always a beat early compared to what I assign to it. Also, this is not specific to a certain project, but happens to every project. In other words, I can't make any music really past notes and beat assignments.
Does anyone have any idea what this means?

Move automation with regions: never
snap offset: -5 ticks
ramp time: 200 ms
'Write' mode changes to: Touch
Write automatino for (everything is checked off except "solo")
Automation Quick Assic: [X] off

Have you add plugins like Adaptive limiter and/or phase linear Eq on Master Out 1-2?
If you add plugin that require Delay conpensation on the Master 1-2.
Also the meter will be delayed...... try to add 5 or more instances of Adaptive Limiter on the master after automation is done...
Maybe this should be related with Graphic delay that is not f compensate in logic 8, I'm not sure but when I add Plugins such as UAD for mastering reason I can see very large difference (not in sync with audio monitoring) on Meters viewing and all pre-recorded automation will be not in sync.
But I'm not sure if this issue is related with only certain project... maybe you have plugin that add latency on Aux or Master out in those projects!

Audio not in sync with video in imovie 08 version 7.1.1

I am importing many Hi 8 tapes using a Sony video walkman GV-D800 thru a firewire 400 port on my Macbook pro, when I play it back in imovie the audio/voice is not in sync with the lip movement of the people in the video, there is a 1-3 second delay. If I play back the same video I captured using QuickTime Player there are no sync problems? I am new at this so what am I doing wrong?
BTW. I also imported HDV using my HDV camera and there are no sync problems at all. Any suggestions are appreciated.

As the title says, on ATV2 after the 5.0 update, Netflix audio is not in sync with video.

Audio Skimming not in sync with actual Audio

Hi Guys,
Since about a week or so, my Audio Skimming seems a little off. When turned on, and actually skimming, it let's me hear something that's at least 4 seconds off. I have no idea how to fix this, so all help is needed

Audio SFX not in sync with input string playback

The audio 'key clicking' sound that occurs during playback as an input string is animated on the screen is not in sync with the characters... Its about .5 seconds late.
Is there a way to adjust this?

While the posted solution to my sync issue could very well correct my problem, the poster presumes I am computer literate, which I am not. lol
could the solution provider please explain the solution as is it were being given to a 6 year old? Although most 6 year old's are possibly more computer literate than I. lol

I believe the default transfer option for TV Shows is to transfer all unplayed TV Shows. If you've already played them, this may be the reason they are not transferring any longer. Double check the preferences:
1) Connect your iPod to the computer and select it when it appears in iTunes under source (on the left).
2) Click the TV Shows tab
3) Make sure it is set to transfer all TV Shows, not just unplayed ones.
4) Click Apply/Ok
