Logic in 2 computers?

I am getting a MacBook Pro, and I was wondering : Can I install my Logic on it and just insert the key whenever I use it?

AS long as it's LP 7.2 or higher, yes.

  • Installing Logic in two computers

Is that possible to install the Logic express in two MacBooks, even updating just the original one that came with the computer?

Should be. By default, it is allowed to install Logic on two Computers (see license) . I have one Installation on my Macbook and the other one on the iMac.

  • Installing Logic on 3 computers

    Hi everyone.
My situation: I actively use 3 computers. A desktop at home, a desktop at my office and a laptop when I'm (frequently) traveling. The license for Logic allows for installation on 1 desktop and 1 laptop. Other software I use with the same 2-computer license has provisions for people with my situation. Can this be done with Logic?
Obviously, I could UN-install on one of the desktops when I'm about to travel, INSTALL on the laptop, then do the reverse when I return home. But that means HOURS of installation each time. Is there any shortcut for this in the install process?
OR, if I install on three computers (all for my personal use), who would know?
    Thanks for any input.

    Welcome donko8999
It seems as if you want to be on the right track well here goes as you know L-P is license for one person to have the use on a Desk-top and a Lap-top say Apple.
However i have change several Apple computer over the years and so all i had to do was to install L-P on the newer machines and it works just the same, the only real diffenence is if your on the internet with the same copy of L.P. it will close down or won't even start on the other machime if your on the internet.
However Apple can sell you another license for having another machine if you want.

  • Running logic on two computers

Is anyone running two versions of logic on two different machines and locking them up? No nodes please, you can't run the exs on a node and thats the point of this question.

Mr. Udell, I remember you indeed. Greetings.
Well, two XS keys would change a lot in my universe. I better understand why you're going in this direction, and now, I'd encourage you to consider all EXS.
I have VSL First Edition Giga, then I cross/upgraded to EXS Pro Edition. Hence, I run both platforms. I intended to phase out my Giga and go all EXS. But there's Giga, loaded and ready to go with few polyphony issues and 1.5 GB from Windows... and a second XS key is a thousand dollars. So I'll be in Giga for a while.
In fact, I face a very similar situation as you, pressing for a larger template but frustrated by the OSX RAM limit.
EXS' seamlessness with Logic and the ability to offline bounce trump the benefits of Giga when cost is not an issue.
I'm well if reluctantly familiar with the world of sample translations, particularly from Giga to EXS. I use Translator and the native Giga Convert in EXS. If you can, Chris, spare yourself the tedium. It will consume time that you may better spend assembling a dual Mac template.
Really, all you need now is a cheaper second hand Mac and a MIDI device for it, if you don't mind analog recording to your primary Mac when mixing.
Personally, I've never broached a digital audio exchange between computers, but it would be ideal for you. (I'm wondering if you could still offline bounce with the audio of your second Mac digitally connected to your primary Mac.)
Another benefit is that, eventually, we'll access 8 GB of memory, which means 16 GB conceivably for you. And it's amazing how templates morph over time, according to the memory they may inherit. I've worked on orchestral templates since my first Roland S-550, and I doubt that we ever have enough memory. But things are ever-improving.

  • How to get logic onto two computers?

i got a new mac, and I have logic on my old one, we bought logic for more than one computer but how do i get the same one onto my other mac without paying for it?

Log into the Mac App Store with the Apple ID you used, click on the Purchases tab, and download it from there.
If you originally got it on a DVD instead of from the Mac App Store, install that DVD.

  • Trouble w Logic on Multiple Computers - Using Same Apple ID

    Hello There,
I have purchased a new iMac and already have Logic Pro 9 installed and paid for on my Macbook Pro. I want to install Logic onto my new iMac but even with the same apple ID associated, the app store only gives me the option to pay for it again? Any help? Is it not recognizing that I have already bought it with that ID? Don't want to pay again for same program when all forums say I should be able to download. Thanks.
    Cobra

In the App Store, there is a tab labeled, "Purchases". Log on with the iMac, and you should be able to download it.

  • How many different computers can i install logic pro? if i download it on the app store on the same account, is there a limit

I cannot find it anywhere. I want to download Logic on multiple computers in my house by only buying it once on the app store. Is this possible?

  • Can you install logic express on more than one computer

can you install logic express on more than one computer ?

Be sure to read the End User Licensing Agreement for questions of this nature. You are allowed to install Logic on two computers that you own, for example an iMac and a MacBook Pro. You cannot, however, use the two computers at the same time if they are on the same network. You can use one computer as a Logic Node to shift some of the processing load (which you would likely do with an ethernet cable) but you don't need to have a full installation of Logic on the Node  machine, just the Logic Node installation. The idea of allowing two installations is so that you might take advantage of a portable  computer in the field for on-site recording then later transfer those files to a desktop studio set up for further editing.

  • Install logic on my new macbook pro 2012

    Hi guys,
ive been scrolling the internet for days and actually can't find the solution to my next problem:
I bought the new macbook pro 15" running mac osx 10.7.4.
now i want to install logic 9 on this computer. Before this i've already been using logic on two computers, my Mac Pro and my older macbook pro (2008).
I installed logic pro 9 as in upgrade to Logic pro 8.
Ive tried installing logic pro 8 on the new laptop but it wont let me, says the new macbookpro doesnt support this program anymore.
Now ive tried installing logic 9 on the new macbook pro and it wont allow me. It wont accept my product liscence, I've tried it a hundred times, but it just wont let me.
Im not planning on using the older laptop anymore, should i uninstall logic from it? If so... how come i can't find the location of the liscence?
really hope hearing from u guys soon....

    Try this..
Copy the logic 8 icon from you old system to your new MB Pro application folder then try to install LP 9..
    Let us know result.
I think the OP will need to try and run L8 after he copies it, enter the serial for L8 then install the L9 upgrade.
Logic 8 will run in Lion, it just won't install because the L8 install uses some PowerPC code that needs the Rosetta emulation. Lion doesn't do Rosetta.

Sounds like the same issue as this to me: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18640824#18640824
The license says you can only install on one laptop and one desktop machine. Try uninstalling it from the old laptop and see if that fixes it.

  • Install and set-up multiple computers

I work at a school with a classroom of 21 computers running Final Cut Studio and Logic Pro. We updated to Leopard this year, with only a couple problems, but my coworker was told by a Genius at the local Apple store that we really needed to do a clean install, not an upgrade, especially with the pro apps. A few computers have some quirks, which is making me think I might do a clean install over the semester break. My question is:
Is there an efficient and easy way to install Leopard, FCP and Logic on 21 computers? I think this would involve something like 87 install DVDs... I guess what I'm thinking of is cloning one hard drive and then copying it to the next, etc....
As you can see, our school doesn't offer any "tech" support, so that's why I'm coming here. Thanks a lot!

If you setup an "archtype" for each type of computer, PPC, Intel mainly, I think that will be enough. The amount of RAM is unimportant but must be enough to meet the specs in order to run Leopard.
The only other items might be the graphics cards, but if you get 90% of the computers running using a few archtypes, then you can do the others manually.

  • Transferring logic 9 to new laptop

I bought an Imac 2 years ago with logic express 9 pre-installed. I am buying a new macbook pro soon and I need to know how to tansger logic express 9 to my new laptop. Any suggestions?

If Apple pre-installed LE9 for you, the installation disc & serial number should be included with your OS and applications installation discs and manuals.  Your license allows you to install Logic on two computers as long as you are the only user and use it on one computer at a time.
If you did not get an LE9 installation DVD & serial number or cannot find it, or if you're hoping to have LE9 pre-installed on your new MacBook using your same license, I think you will need to contact Apple Support:  http://www.apple.com/contact/

  • Sync logic with external video

i want to run logic pro 8 during live shows with audio and synchronised video art. but i want to connect two macs and put the video data on the other one, so the first is totally dedicated to the audio. how do i link the two together so the video will run in sync?
    thx a lot!!!!

What kinds of Macs? If one of them is a desktop then you could run video out of a second monitor output, and thus do it all from one computer.
I don't know if any of the laptops have facility to run more than one monitor display, but if so then as above you could do it all with one computer.
That aside, and sticking with the two-computer setup, would you be running Logic on both computers? If not, whatever video app you're running on the second computer would have to be able to accept MIDI (either via a MIDI interface or perhaps via MIDI-over-ethernet) and read MIDI Time Code ("MTC"). In this situation you'd set Logic to the same frame rate as the video and enable Logic's MTC output.

  • How many install's.

HI YA how many times can i copy logic 8 on different computers.I have 2 macs you see and want to no how many times i can copy logic 8 onto different macs.Plus if it got deleted of the hard drive if i could install it again without using up its installing lifes ,to speak of.

According to the license, you are allowed to install Logic on two computers, one desktop and one laptop, both of which you have to own (meaning you can't install on your desktop and your friends laptop).
If you need to reinstall it, or get a new computer, or your hard drive crashes, you can install it again. Just as long as it's installed only on two computers that you own and operate.
