Logic/live sound application?

Hello again. OK..I have this idea of using my pre-recorded Logic projects to enhance the sound of my live ensemble. (just some added percussion. Maybe some keyboard parts) I'm thinking I'll need a headphone mix for the drummer with click info. Then, be able to monitor out tracks to external sound system for mixing with the live musicians. I would like to be able to do all this with my MacBook Pro for portability reasons.
Where do I begin? Is this idea even doable? Thanks....

Depending on your needs, this should be relatively simple to set up:
Logic project with separate audio click outputs via a multi-output andio interface, possibly using separate additional feeds to Front of House main PA, and/or your own monitoring system. Each project could be as simple as audio file bounces of each tunes' parts/stems.

Rewire: Logic + Live then Logic + Reason = No Sound

Hey,
Can anyone explain to me, why if I open up Ableton Live 5.2 to work on something it then has an effect on my ability to rewire Logic and Reason together.
For example, I wanted to timestrech a track, so I opened it in Ableton, did the work and rendered the finished vocal as a wav file. I then closed Ableton and opened Logic, then reason to put them into rewire mode (reported as being in rewire mode in reason).
The problem is I only get sound from Logic, no sound comes through from Reason.
The only way I can tell to fix this problem is to delete all the rewire files in the library folders.
Can anyone help me out with this annoying and ongoing problem??

It definitely sounds like your Logic environment is not set up correctly to get the audio from Reason.

Is there a specific reason why you want that "finished vocal" run through Reason?
Since you saved said file as .wav, why not use "Audio Import" in Logic and put it in your Logic song arrange window?

TS1702 Live Notes application does not play back the audio.

I bought the Live notes application. I tried to use the microphone to tape the voice. It shows the audio level, if you close IPAD it inform you that is recording de audio. But when I went to play my note the audio does not happen.

1) Try a Hard Reset as follows.
Remove any devices connected to the notebook. Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook - check if the speakers are now working.
2) Please First check if the speaker icon on the unit is not muted.
3) Go to device manager and uninstall the Sound driver and restart and unit will install the driver automatically.
4) Try doing System restore to the date when the unit was working fine.
5) Try to update the driver from hp.com website for Audio & Bios.

Can You Store Logics Media, Sound Files on External HD to Save Space?

Hello Fellow Mackers!
I have an Macbook Pro and use Logic, Reason and Fab Four. Can I store Logic's sound files on an external 7200 sata hd in order to save space?

Hi, this is from a post that BeeJay helped me with:
Logic's instruments go in the respective locations inside /Library/Application Support/Logic/, and all the Garageband instruments and Jampack instruments go inside /Library/Application Support/Garageband/
The missing content installer bug is an annoying one, and I've just yesterday gone through this again as I've copied all that content back onto my drives and catalogued what files are in which installers and which disks (I can't upload this at the moment, my webhost is playing up).
Personally, I avoid using the installer for content now, and just use Pacifist to extract what I want, where I want. I'll typically extract it to a spare location on my drive, then do what I want with it, then finally move it to my proper library locations on an external drive.
Note that the instruments have to be in your GB library, but the samples can go more or less anywhere. Now, you can alias your entire GB library, but this causes issues if you also want to use GB, and causes issues with the Hybrid instruments & plugs in Logic, which don't follow alilases and will therefore break.
So what I recommend with the JP instrument content is keep everything in the proper GB library on your system disk (the instrument , settings and chanelstrip files are small and so don't take up much space), and move the samples to your external drive -all except the Hybrid sample folders, which should be left where they are.)
If you are not sure what you are ding, or what the proper GB library folder structure is like, then use the installer and let it create it all for you, then move the sample content afterwards.
So I moved all the SAMPLES across to my samples drive and left the instruments and settings etc where they were. The only samples I left in default install location was the Hybrid sample folders just as BeeJay instructed.
I discovered that the Ultrabeat samples didn't like to be moved but were more than happy to be aliased.
For me it all went very smoothly and I moved all the sample content before I booted Logic for the first time. All my samples were found pretty much instantly.

Streaming Logic Live with another studio

I am constantly doing minor tweaks after I finish a Major mix and it would be handy if i could find a possible way to stream my logic live with another studio. This was not only could the person hear exactly what I am doing but also have the ability to control it. I have tried Virtual Glass but that is having a lot of issues and does not seem to work and Teamviewer is great for controlling but sound does not work and when you run major programs like Logic 9 Pro it just crashs at the other end.
So if anyone else knows a way possible for me to stream my Logic Pro 9 arrangement with someone else please let me know!

The only way I could see this working is using the same Logic project on both location and lock the remote system. You could experiment with Euphonix Eucon ethernet protocol to remote control the slave, but you would need their interface (MC control / Mix). I know that Steinberg have (or had) their platform remotely working and users to exchange files and sync. both machines. May be someone else has some better ideas...

I did try System.in.read() but it didn't work either. However, going the the archives here I found a version of the following code. finally some code that works. I modified it so that it would play a sound when the app starts. Althoug the code works, pushing the play sound button to fast will cause the app to not play a sound for a long time. some tweeking is needed.

Sound application

Hello.
I sometimes get lost in the sound applications (games), with it all at once, and all the other sounds on the spot. How can I fix it?

Ive solved my problem, but I have another question.
Does anyone know how I could put in volume control?

out.The SourceDataLine has a control called "Master Gain" that can be used to control volume. Note that it is not linear, it's calibrated in decibles. So an adjustment of -10 will cut the volume in half. It also has range limits that may vary with your system and will trhow exceptions if they are exceeded. Here's the code you need to set it.

Run Oracle Web Logic and Oracle Application Server 10g on same server

Since oracle has chosen to release adf faces 11g, before the SOA suite 11g is released, we are facing the challenge to run both Oracle Web logic and Oracle Application Server 10g on the same server.
If anyone have any experience in this setup or has knowledge of other feasable setups please let me know.

What version of Oracle Application Server 10g are you installing?
If you are installing 10gR2 (v10.1.2.x) have you taken a look at point #70 in "Table 2 Additional Information for Certified Platforms" section here?

Depends on what your logic does and what data it deals with, but in general business logic is in the ADF BC layer.
Some goes into entity objects - for things like attribute or row validation.
Some goes into view objects - for things like calculation.
Some goes into AM - for things like service methods for UI clients.

No eligible version of Logic found in Applications Folder ?

The Logic Pro 7.1.1 update installs fine on the G4 and G5 macs (running 10.3.9 with RME PCI audio hardware) but on the Powerbooks (667 DVI, running 10.4.1, no ext audio hardware) it refuses to install.
The installer does open and for a splitsecond some sort of readme stuff is visible, but an alert pops up stating the updater wouldn't find 'an eligible version of Logic in the Applications folder'. Which actually isn't true as there is Logic 7.1.
I thought it might have sth to do with keyboard layout, system language or Logic's application language, but this doesn't seem to be the case as I have changed them to and fro to no avail.
Is it just portable macs that experience this ? Any ideas ?

What actually did just now solve the problem was an OS (combo) update from 10.4.1 to 10.4.2.
Not that I would understand this, really, but I'm glad it helped.
Edit : I had mixed-up menu languages in Logic 7.1.1 when I first opened it. Closed the app and un-checked all other languages under 'information'. Now I'm back to standard english and Logics size also has changed from some 250 MB to 95 MB. Probably because all the .lproj language files went into an 'unused' folder.
In case you have trouble updating to 7.1.1 you may want to check if system and logic language match. My theory is that an OS update possibly sorts out the languages anew and this calms the 7.1.1 updater.

What is the logic in the application builder when creating e.g a Report. When we create a static report we go through these four steps:

Starting from the "Source" step we can Click "Create Report", and create the report .....
is there a table for each step... or there is a collection for each step. So, when we click Create Button the collections are inserted into tables, then get emptied. ?????

There's a "Wizard wizard" as an option when creating a new page that enables you create and link the basic multiple page structure. Themes have "Wizard Progress List" (vertical orientation) and "Wizard Progress List, Horizontal Train" (horizontal) list templates that can be used as stage progress indicators. You have to construct the contents of each page using standard components. Once the "Wizard wizard" is completed there's nothing to indicate that the pages are logically related—strangely it doesn't even generate a wizard progress list for you.
Use Collections to store the data from intermediate stages before final processing if all of the data is captured in one session. If you want persistence across sessions (e.g. allowing users to enter information over several days) use separate drafting/staging tables instead of/in addition to collections to capture the data before final validation and promotion to the main tables.

System 10.5.8 Sound application missing

Friends were having major problems with Mac OS 10.5.8. I tried to install 10.6 but the installation stalled several times. Through it all, I got OS 10.5.8 running for them again but the sound application is now missing, so I can't get the iMac to play sounds effects nor will it show the Harmann Kardon sound sticks as a sound output. They can't find their original install discs and I do not have that version. Will the sound application for system 10.6 work if I drag that file into their 10.5.8 system? Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks.

Are you booting from the DVD, or installing from the desktop? (both are possible).
As you appear to have a failed install, check the root level of the Finder (i.e Macintosh HD) to see if a folder has appeared called something Like 'Mac OS Install Data'.
That would contain all the System files that should have been moved into place during the restart.
You could try removing that. It may need a sudo commad in Terminal; not my territory, but ask again if it won't delete normally.
I'm assuming up to now that you did a verify/repair disc on mac HD before starting?

Easiest way to remove live sound

When I edit projects I rarely use the "live" sound recorded by the camcorder. In Premiere Elements I could just select a clip in the timeline and delete the audio via right mouse click and select. In CS5 I seem to have to unlink the clip from its audio, then select the audio portion only and delete that.
Is there some quick way to drop a clip into the timeline without it's audio track, or is there a quicker way of deleting the audio for a clip other than unlink and clear?

Craig's suggestions are probably all the best for accomplishing what you want, but I'll offer one more suggestion for the fun of it...
Personally, I like to add both the video and audio portions of a clip into a sequence, because even though I may be pretty sure that I won't use the audio, I like having the option. Instead of fussing with turning off tracks and so on, I simply hold down the Alt key and select just the audio portion of a sequence clip (or just video, if you want the audio) and right-click and toggle the Enable option. This leaves that portion of the clip in the timeline, linked to the other portion, but effectively "mutes" it. This way, if I decide I want the audio (or video) later, I just have to reverse the process, and I don't have to turn off everything in a track by muting it, so I can be selective of the clips that pass through to output.
Again, this is a more specialized function, but might be helpful at times.
