Logic new Imac io2 Alesis problem

I got a new Imac OSX 10.9.1. I try to record with my Alesis io2 on garageband and on Logic pro x, but there's a disturbing noice coming out. Does anybody encounter this problem? On my Imac 2008 there is no problem.

Hi
Did you do all the "ProApplications" support downloads after you installed Logic?
Also .... maybe this could be the issue with a migration???

I realize is only 512MB of memory but I want to make sure that a new iMac will solve this problem.  Can the new iPhoto handle 10GB or more of photos?  Or do I have to go to Picasa anyways in which case I can buy any computer to do that?

The model of Mac is not partcularly relevant, it's the version of the OS and iPhoto that matter.
iPhoto - since 2006 - is good for 250,000 images.

i have a new iMac but having problems installing final cut express 4 from old macbook pro ?

FCE was discontinued nearly 3 years ago and is no longer supported.
I don't know whether it's possible to install it on Mavericks and if you do it may not perform properly.
Final Cut pro X and iMovie are the only Apple apps that are supported.

  • New iMac power cable problem

I have just bought a new iMac 21.5" and have a problem with the ac cable. I cant fit it all the way into the socket so that the circularplastic is flush against the back of the monitor. It goes about halfway, clicks into place but doesnt feel completely secure and wont go further in. Ive tried forcing but dont want to damage the machine. It just wont fit in correctly. The machine was receiving power even though the plug wasnt fully in. Is this a common problem with iMacs?
    Message was edited by: Stu82

No, but if it concerns you, that little circular piece of plastic will pop off if you press on it hard enough. It's purely cosmetic in nature. As you can clearly see from looking at the "business end" of the plug, it's just your bog standard AC cable. You can probably get a dozen of them for a few bucks just about anywhere.
So you can either just pop that little plastic shield off, let it slide freely on the cable, or you can just use any other spare AC cables you may have around. There is absolutely nothing special about them. They're just three wires running along a plastic tube. Do not feel particularly beholden to any one cable.
If you for some reason spend a lot of time looking at the back end of your iMac, you can always call Apple to get a replacement cable with the little shield. Odds are, they will put up no resistance to sending you a new one. They'd likely spend more money fighting with you on the phone over it than the cable costs.

  • New iMac setup assistant problems?

I have a brand new iMac literally fresh out of the box.
I am having major problems just getting through the initial setup assistant.
I didn't migrate anything this is just all from scratch.
The setup assistant is very very slow taking several minutes to recognize what I entered from the keyboard.
Screens were juxtaposed over each with the text overlapping. I can't see the question that it has the cursor in a blank field to answer to.
It gets hung in a loop asking for Cloud password info. It doesn't see what I typed in and just hangs.
A very frustrating initial experience with the new machine. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Jesse, we could tell you a million things to do, BUT...you shouldnt have to. It's a brand new Mac. Call Apple

  • Files transferred from old iMac to new iMac, permission/editing problems

I recently purchased a new iMac this month because my old one was no longer working, I can't keep it on for more than 2 minutes.
I always used Time Machine to back up my files, when I transferred all my files to my new iMac I was given alot of trouble with the permissions problem. I got the files to open by copying the folders to the desktop but, for example, all my iTunes music cannot be edited. I get alot of error messages about not being able to save iTunes library because I don't have write permissions.
How do I authenticate the files/folders so I don't have this problem?
Old iMac was purchased in Dec 2007, it has Leopard OS.

If you want your new computer to be very much like your old, during the startup you would choose to migrate before choosing to create a new user. Then, the migration assistant creates the same user on the new computer. Did you do that?
    Or did you do this:
If you first create a new user with the same name as the old one you want to migrate, Migration Assistant won't let you migrate as that username since it already exists.
You could create a new user that you will later use as an admin/test account. Then, while logged into the new account, delete the old account and use the Migration Assistant in the Utilities folder to Migrate from your Time Machine backup--it should create a new user with the old user info.
However, if you didn't get any errors from Migration Assistant, I'm not sure why the file permissions are askew.

  • New iMac With a problem

I Used Migration assistant to transfer files from my PC and now I have bunches of files on my 2 day old iMac that I don't want.  Is there a way to put it back to the way it came out of the box and I'll find another way to get the files.

You are very welcome, Jan.  Macs are actually very easy to work on and clean up as described, but it is always good to get someone to help out if you are uncertain.  Stick around on here and ask questions, this is a great place to learn.  Also, check with your Apple retail store, if there is one convenient, as they have free classes regularly scheduled to help new-to-Apple users.  Classes cover a wide variety to topics so check with them often to see what they have going.

  • Just got new iMac...problems

I bought a 17" 2.0 iMac on Saturday without knowing that new ones were coming. I exchanged it today for the new 20" model. They exchanged it happily and all I had to do was pay a restocking fee. I get the spinning beach ball when I open some programs, it lasts for about 2-5 seconds, is this normal? The internet is also going very slow but works fine on my XP, i dunno if its the computer or the fact that there in different rooms.

Please do not "restore the OS. IMO not good advice.
If you were using the iMac all that three hours, no, it probably wasn't because Spotlight was sharing that time with all the other things that you were doing. Let the Mac have overnight or a number of uninterrupted hours to itself to get the indexing done. Spotlight is how your Mac is able to instantly find things your are trying to locate. It has Gigs of Mac OS X, Apps and your data to index. Once that is finished it knows where everything is, and then just updates itself occasionally when you have added, deleted or changed things.

  • New iMac 27" - Airport Problems

My new 27" iMac arrived today! I can connect to my network via ethernet (as well as the internet). However as soon as I switch Airport on, the screen goes grey and asks me to reboot.
I have reinstalled OSX twice, and check permissions, also have up applied all the software updates available.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
*"the screen goes grey and asks me to reboot"*
    That called a kernel panic.
    Try a different Airport channel.
Open AirPort Utility, located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a computer using Mac OS X.
Select the device you’re setting up, and then click Manual Setup. Enter the base station password if necessary
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then click Wireless.
Choose a new channel from the Channel pop-up menu.
    Try deleting this file.
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    MacintoshHD/Library/Preferences/System Configuration.
Move that file to the Trash and restart your Mac.
Try restarting with only necessary externals, ie; mouse and keyboard.
Check to make sure your ethernet cable is connecting properly. If you are using a cable modem, disconnect it from the power source for 20 seconds and reconnect. Sometimes that helps.
If you are using a router, check the vendor site to make it's 10.6 compatible.

  • New iMac set-up problem

Just bought 1 iMac & have 2 more ordered to upgrade from OLD G4s. Tried Pondini's how to to set up from the old Mac but we get a message that the old does not have an OS X installed when trying to use firewire. What other options do we have? Need step-by-step for an idiot (me) instructions as we have no IT people.

Ensure that you've repaired the disks on the Tiger boxes and are running 10.4.11. If not, download and reinstall the 10.4.11 COMBO. I don't recall anyone not having success using the setup assistant. See Best Practices for more info, although Pondini's tip should have everything you need.

  • Long time Windows User - New IMAC User - Some Problems

I have used Windows for many years at home. Recently I switched to the IMAC and i must say its a great machine.
    EXCEPT
I really miss being able to put it to SLEEP reliably.
I've tried all the various means - also tried quitting all running programs etc etc.
Some times it will and some times (more often than not) it will not.
This is clearly a flaw in the system somewhere as my old Windows systems would reliably STANDBY no matter what was running.
I think I (we) need Apple's help here
    IMAC 24"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi,
The reply might be old since the original message was posted on Nov 15th but I just wanted to contribute to this.
I never had this issue with my iMAC but I did with my Windows. The issue with that was the Driver for the HP MultiFunction printer which was stopping the machine to sleep. I installed the same driver with the most recent update on my MAC and everything looked ok. So, I assume if I would have installed the old version of the printer driver on the iMAC, I would have had the same issue that you were facing.
Other than that, the more I use my iMAC, the more I realize how much time I wasted patching up my Windows O/S in the past few years. God bless Apple.
    Cheers all

  • New iMac 27 startup problems

    Hello Support,
I've recently bought a iMac 27, some months ago, and all of a sudden it takes - hold onto your breath, more than 1 hour to start up.
I've been using disk utility and done whats to be done. It still takes forever.
It's got this grey screen with this spinning wheel on it when it's starting up.
What can be done. I've been looking for S.M.A.R.T in the info panel in disk utility, but I cannot find this S.M.A.R.T
I'm wondering if it's a hard disc failure.

    Hello Paul_31,
I followed your suggestion and contacted AppleCare.
It took approx. 15. minutes and I was guided through what to do. I restarted my Mac and it works just fine again. I have to credit Apple for some first class support. After I contacted Apple on the net, and till my phone rang took about 15 seconds. I kid you not!!
And I want to give you some credit as well. You were right:
"but have you checked the hard disk using the Recovery HD? Restart holding down Command + r and select Disk Utility and click on Macintosh HD and the 'repair disk".
That's what AppleCare suggested and guided me through. I was told that my harddisc seemed ok as I didn't get a S.M.A.R.T negative feedback.
I've been checking about this Mac and I can see that I've been reversed to Version 10.8.3 however.
Maybe there's an issue with Version 10.8.4 slowing down your Mac.
Now it takes about 10 seconds to startup. Before it took 1 hour and 8 minutes!! I hope Apple will look into the Version 10.8.4 if there's an issue about slowing down the Mac.
However hanx again for your help.

  • How do I install CS5 on my new iMac?

I have just bought a new iMac.  My problem is that I want to install my photoshop CS5, which I own on disc.  As there is no disc reader on the iMac, I tried downloading photoshop CC and entering my serial number - which wasn't accepted ( it's the only photoshop I could download, was hoping they would recognise my serial number and install CS5 for me).  My question is:  How can I download/install my CS5 without buying an external disc reader?

You can download photoshop cs5 from here.
Just follow the Note:Very Important Instructions or the download links won't work.

  • Windows Vista 64 bit and new iMac (Penryn)

Anyone knows when the new iMacs will be "official supported" for Vista 64?
I have read that today only the Mac Pro and the MacBook Pro ( both 2008 edition) are supported. I have try to install Vista 64 on my new iMac Penryn without problem (OS) while with the Bootcamp drivers i cant go on with installation becouse i have a compatibily error message with x64. It's BIOS EFI problem? ETA for new iMac support???

If the Leopard DVD when inserted into Vista doesn't auto open to
    /BOOTCAMP
and, those drivers are needed first in order to install BC 2.1 (buggy for many) there is a bit torrent of BC 64-bit drivers, but they should be there.
I suspect that any Penryn series WILL be supported, but weren't/aren't ready, and that page listing Macs that are Vista 64-bit is therefore "out of date" at this point.

  • Secure downloads: how do I get old Word to open them on new iMac?

I had MS Office X and installed it (via data wire from old iMac) on my new iMac. The problem is that the new MS Office that is preinstalled wants to open all my downloaded documents. They are now downloading as "secure download" and my old version won't open them. My old version can open any document only after the document is downloaded and opened in the new MS Office 2004.
I'm only using Office as opposed to Appleworks because tables/spreadsheets don't cross over from one platform to another easily and Office is the predominant software for those with whom I correspond via email.
