Logic old bug in MIDI import

I've had this weird issue regarding importing midi files for a very long time.
I reported the bug to the Logic Pro Feedback several times but nothing is changed.
If I import this MIDI file in Logic http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2723724/test.mid
the first time only half of the instruments are recognized. The second time (without closing Logic) everything is fine.
So, to be sure, I always have to import the same file two times.
This is the first import
And this is the second one
of the same midi files.
(If you want to try please use my test file because this happens only with some specific commercial MIDI files, not all)
I can't believe after the release of Logic 9.1.7 the bug is still there... it seems that nobody at Apple is reading the feedback.

  • Logic 8 Bugs/Crashing when importing audio

    Hi,
    Been running Logic 8 for a few months - some good things but lots of niggly bugs which we're trying to iron out.
    We're getting a problem with Logic crashing everytime we import an audio file - however when Logic reloads the file is in the project and plays fine. Anyone come across something similar?
    Also, for some reason audio files are playing randomly in a Logic sequence - for example the backing vocals will play at the start of the track even though they are not placed anywhere near there.
    Hoping someone can help, we've installed the latest updates and everything - currently running a HD 192 TDM system on 10.4.11.
    Thanks
    Jack

    I have had similar bugs like this even on 7. I think it might be a DAE/Logic issue that has been carried into the next generation. Just the wrong playback of an audio file in respect of the arrangement placement is new. I am having it too when i am in cycle mode. Only randomly though.

  • [LR 3.5] An old bug is back : import dialog sometimes doesn't show up

    Hi,
    Sometimes, when I use the Synchronize Folder command or when I click on the Import... button, the Import dialog doesn't show up (sometimes meaning here "very often"). Obviously, the dialog has been loaded because at this time, LR is in a modal state (you can't use any user interface element - you just get a beep when clicking anywhere in the main window). The dialog is here but it is not visible. I'm using a dual monitor setup but the problem also occurs when I de-activate the secondary display.
    I already encountered this bug in previous versions and I thought it had been fixed. Unfortunately, it is back. When this happens, I have to reboot the system to get the Import dialog working correctly again. A logoff / logon is not enough. Killing the LR process doesn't help either. I'm running XP Pro SP3, 3GB of memory, /3GB switch enabled (disabling it doesn't change anything).
    Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • Unable to Open/Import Multiple Files in Audtion 3 - Old Bug?

    As stupid as it might sound I can't seem to open more then single files from the Files Window in Audition 3.0.1. You can select them (shift+click or right click) but they don't open. However if you drop them from explorer or "open file with" they do open but then the next issue emerges.... They are not saved in the session file UNLESS you use them in the Multitrack View!! Now is this me or is it an old bug or something? (I've recently updated from Audition 1.5).
    The files I've tried are mainly wav-files and mp3. Same result though.

    Ooo? So UNSED files are NOT reloaded in the session file! Well, thanks for
    clearing that up (Still, I must say it makes it a bit frustrating though!).
    My impression was that, as I used Audition 1.5 before, I was quit sure it
    was possible there! But then again it's been a while since I used that
    program too in a major scale. (I've been working in much After Effects
    lately, wich of course has another handling of files).
    As for the Files (Edit) View, I still can not open more than ONE file at the
    time from that location - regardles of Multitrack or Edit View, really!
    ShiftClick, CtrlClick, Right Click - you name it. Yes, select them but
    open? No can do!! Now, as I mentioned before there is the workaround when I
    select the files in explorer (Windows) and then drops them in Auditions
    File View - they all then load accordingly (Or you can aslo use "open file
    with" then point to Audition). Otherwise, once the files are imported,
    there's no problem working with them in Multitrack/Edit and do all the rest.
    Yet, it is a bit absured though and hard to tell whether it's a bug or not
    (?). Virus?
    Anyway, thanks a bunch!

    I'm not sure I'm understanding your problem with the Files window.  To try
    this, I opened eight files in the Files window in Edit View.  From there I
    could drag any one of them into the Edit window with no problems.  I also
    was able to drag them into different tracks in Multi Track View.  I also put
    files into the Files window, CTRL+clicked all of them and dragged all of
    them at once into the Multi Track View successfully.  I repeated this doing
    SHIFT+click.  I then put into the Files window tracks that have different
    sample rates.  They all went into the Multi Track without incident (after
    the program resampled the unmatching tracks to conform to the session's
    sample rate).
    >
    Yes, you are correct that the files not used in the session are not
    reloaded into the Files window when the session is reopened.

  • Logic 9 locks up when importing a huge L7 project. HELP!

    Hi, I have a severe issue with a very important project... maybe someone has a suggestion on how to troubleshoot this? I'll accept anything...
    This particular project had over 70 audio tracks, and almost that many MIDI tracks... ALL with detailed plug-ins and automations. The song itself was over 20 minutes. Re-constructing it from scratch really isn't an option. It's time for me to yell HELP!!!
    The best way to describe the problem would probably be a bullet list:
    o I had Logic 7 on a PPC G5... I've recently upgraded to Logic Studio on the MacPro.
    o For MIDI I use four Unitor8's, stacked, with many external synths.
    o For audio, I use a (new) Apogee Rosetta 800 interface (I used to use a LynxTwo).
    o Logic Studio currently appears to be working properly with all my new equipment.
    o I have successfully imported many of my old Logic 7 projects and environments. It is only a particular project I cannot get to work.
    o When attempting to open a certain L7 project, Logic 9 will begin processing, giving me the spinning cursor... and remain that way... probably forever, but I have waited up to 10 minutes of this before I force-quit Logic.
    o The old L7 project had custom settings for many plug-ins. I've kept my plug-in settings, and inserted them into the new deployment of L9. That being said, I have started Logic 9 by holding control down, thereby disabling the audio drivers... I was told this would alleviate any plug-in problems, and allow for troubleshooting. However, I still get the same results.
    o I have attempted to simply import just the environment from the old project. Same result, regardless of which method I've chosen.
    o I have attempted to import various single layers of the environment, one at a time, from the old .LSO... no joy, same result.
    o The problem is not file corruption... I have redundant copies, and many older versions... all yield the same result.
    Not meaning to be critical, but it certainly would be helpful if Logic revealed the problems with imports, or at the VERY LEAST, timed-out with an error of some kind. I get neither... this is weird...
    Regardless, ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

    I think you could be right about the plug-ins. I had a bunch of non-Apple plug ins, but other songs from L7 using them HAVE loaded. Anyway, I was told you could bypass plugin problems by holding down control while booting. However, L9 still locks when I do this.
    I am going to get this project running in L7 on a friend's G5, then save a few different "dumbed-down" versions to try on my machine.
    Sounds like a plan, I just noticed you're running SL so it could definitely be a plugin.
    When you hold down control while booting Logic do you get the "launch core audio driver" option?

  • Any hope for midi import update iOS 6 for iPad3?

    I purchased the iPad3 after seeing all the cool stuff you could do with it, nicely portable, and GarageBand expecting all the great features I saw in YouTube video.  Turns out GarageBand for iOS is an inferior product to the Mac version.  Had I known and marketing not have misled I would have purchased MacBook instead.  Now I,m stuck with an Apple Kindle... And I read white papers not books.
    Any plans for upgrading iOs version of GarageBand to allow for midi import?
    I've been creating midi since the beginning.  Some of them are quite extensive and I'd rather not have to try to reprogram/play them in GarageBand to be able to use my glorified Kindle as my backup group.
    For now I'm stuck using my  HP laptop with its mediocre sound card or carrying my Ensoniq TS12, 90lb keyboard around to get good sounds.
    ****,  I was so looking forward to using VSTs with my old midis and carrying this light little iPad around.  Woah to those who don't dig down deep into the Apple support pages to see where the iOS version does not do all that the Mac version does!

    I've no idea, but you can drop a line to GarageBand for iOS Feedback if you like.

  • I have a rather old iMac 20" (mid 2007) and I want to upgrade the Hard drive. How do I change it? How do I transfer all my applications? May I just copy the old hd into the new one? Thanks.

    I have a rather old iMac 20" (mid 2007) and I want to upgrade the Hard drive. How do I change it? How do I transfer all my applications? May I just copy the old hd into the new one? Thanks.

    There are many online tutorials on how to change out the HD on a mid 2007 iMac. One of the originals is from 2007 and is Upgrade your iMac 20" or iMac 24" aluminum (mid 2007) to 1TB Hard Drive and 4 GB RAM - DIY Guide. As far as migrating your system Apple helps out with that in Setup Assistant which automatically starts when you turn on a new Mac for the first time. After you have installed the new HD you will have to format the new HD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then you will have to install OS X. The first time you turn it on Setup Assistant will start. Follow the directions and you will be fine. In order to restore your information you will need to backup what is on the current internal HD first. I'd recommend using Time Machine (Assuming you are using Leopard or later) AND also creating a bootable clone using either SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner.
    Please complete your profile so at the very least we know what version of OS X your machine has installed.

  • An age old bug - GarageBand not updating

    It is actually both iPhoto & GarageBand that are not being updated. The exact message is this:
    This update is not available.
    You must have previously purchased the item being updated. Tap Buy to purchase it now.
    which doesn't make much sense to me. Does it make sense to anyone else?
    So, I have just one apple ID with which I purchased everything. And iPhoto came with the laptop as a part of the iLife bundle. In other words, it is not a multiple apple IDs issue.
    Also, it's been more than 90 days since I bought my laptop, so no free Apple Care for me and I really don't want to pay them to fix this bug. I feel like that is exactly what it is - a bug.
    Finally, I browsed the forums for weeks now and I see that a lot of people have this exact same problem, but non of the solutions proposed worked for me. I even contacted the Apple support, App Store Support etc. etc., but they were not very helpful, meaning they just want my money and don't want to fix this issue for free, which I kind of naively expected them to do.
    And one more time, as stated in the title, I think it is an age-old bug in the App Store. I'm surprised it is taking Apple several months to fix it.
    Anyways, any help or words of support would be greatly appreciated.

     > Software Update
    does nothing I think.
    Though, GarageBand version is 6.0.4. Is that the latest stable version?

  • IPhoto ejected my memory card mid import but is saying that there is still an import in progress.  I can't close the program or shutdown my computer.

    I was trying to import some photos (probably close to 300) and iphoto ejected my memory card in the middle of that process.  The photos have not been imported, and now I can't close iPhoto, or even shut down my computer (macbook pro) because it keeps saying that Iphoto is cancelling restarts.  I've tried to close the program but it doesn't seem to be working.
    Does anyone have any tips on how to get iphoto to shut down mid import?

    How can I access old Entourage emails to import them into Mac Mail after upgrading to OS Lion? I don't really want to go back to Snow Leopard in order to access the old Microsoft Applications, but they simply aren't supported in Lion.

    In Mail you can select Import Mailboxes... from the File menu. There is an import from Entourage feature.

  • OLD BUG is back: Heavy JClient Bug regarding to scrolling within a JTable.....

    Hi,
    I'm just evaluating the new features of JDev 9.0.3.988 (preview) and found an old bug back again!
    see: Re: Fetching data from database for login
    The current behaviour is slightly different:
    You have a generated JClient form displaying a table. There are more rows than the table can show at once. You scroll down with the cursor keys until some new rows are fetched. Now scroll up again. Make sure you only use cursor keys. If you reach the upper area of the table you can see that the StatusBar isn't refreshing it's current row counter and all possibly connected fields to the same binding don't update themself either.
    You can see this behavior by using only wizard generated source code based on the SCOTT/TIGER schema.
    This bug should have been definitively fixed in a previous beta version...
    Can anyone give a comment on this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Torsten.

    This bugfix doesn't work!!!!!!
    It makes the table scrollable via cursor keys, but now scrolling with the mouse isn't possible anymore!!!!I see the bug when you apply the above mentioned workaround that leads to scrolling due to double handlers for valueChanged event
    Lets try to fix this in the JUTableBinding source. From my test runs on the when the same fix is applied on JUTableBinding source, the scroll works fine in both key/mouse modes.
    Let us know if you find otherwise.
    The fix in JUTableBinding is:
    Look up source for JUTableBinding in your setup. (It'd be in (JDEVHOME)\bc4j\src\bc4juisrc.zip
    Save a copy in your current project in the project's source path maintaining the class's package structure - save the file into sourcepath\oracle\jbo\uicli\jui\JUTableBinding.java
    Replace the existing valueChanged method with the following:
          public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent event)
             try
                ListSelectionModel listSelModel = (ListSelectionModel) event.getSource();
                if (mSelRowInProg || listSelModel.getValueIsAdjusting())
                   return;
                RowIterator iter = getRowIterator();
                if (!listSelModel.isSelectionEmpty())
                   if (iter == null)
                      return;
                   int selectTabRowIndex = listSelModel.getMinSelectionIndex();
                   if (getFormBinding() != null)
                      ((JUPanelBinding)getFormBinding()).callBeforeRowNavigated(getIteratorBinding());
                   int idx = selectTabRowIndex - iter.getRangeStart();
                   if (idx >= iter.getRangeSize())
                      idx = idx - iter.getRangeSize() + 1;
                      iter.scrollRange(idx);
                      idx = selectTabRowIndex - iter.getRangeStart();
                   else if (idx < 0)
                      iter.scrollRange(idx);
                      idx = 0;
                   iter.setCurrentRowAtRangeIndex(idx);
             catch(Exception ex)
                reportException(ex);
                refresh(true /*selectRow*/);
    This is a really heavy bug making the whole JUTableBinding useless... any comments on this? :((

  • Bug in organize imports

    Hi,
    There seem to be a couple of past bugs on organize imports- I'm not sure if this problem falls into the previous issues or not (or if they have been corrected.. ..as I side note, how does one access the list of open bugs? I can only find past fix lists)... ...any way, the issue:
    * I had to import some legacy code which cotains a) unused imports and b) imports to vendor-specific classes (e.g. com.ibm.websphere.ldap.serializer.ModificationItem, rather then java.naming.directory.ModificationItem )
    * if I choose to ogranize imports it generates malformed code, specifically:
    --the class level javadoc is repeated (occurrs each time)
    --often an empty import statement is put before the class-level javadoc
    --"public class LDAPHelper" becomes
    "public class LDAPHelper class LDAPHelper" (this problem occurrs each time)
    Seeing how this code with its vendor specific implementations can't compile any way, it's not as annoying as it normally would be, but still a little surprising. Take care.

    Sean,
    does this happen with JDeveloper 10.1.3 ? Open bugs can be looked up in metalink.oracle.com if you have a support contract

  • Logic's Graphics affecting MIDI!?

    Hi
    Can anyone tell me why is it that when I select certain buttons in Logic, it sends a midi "message" (I guess) that causes ether a keyboard note to trigger or a long reverberation noise from both my Korg Triton & the Roland JV 2080 thru the amt8. This has only happened since I got the MacBook pro and put Logic on it. The buttons that cause it are: Solo, Cycle,Toggle drop... triggers midi Notes in the transport & next to the track names The Mute & solo buttons on the channel strip cause that weird reverb noise, and when I go to record, the flashing record button (lower channel strip) gives off the noise with each flash! Also, when I simply select a chanel... I get the reverb noise!
    Anyone know whats happening?
    Thanks, Cuz

    Hi
    No program change checked (in Logic and on the Triton & the 2080) Another thing I noticed is that MIDI notes are triggering both synths...(the MIDI led flashes on both, and every chanel lights up on the amt8) whereas before the track I had selected only sent MIDI to the current synth assigned to that track...and that chanel on the amt8. Now it seemingly sends info. to all.
    Someting funny is going on. Is anyone else having this problem?

    Hi,
    Not sure you can do anything about this. I get vaiable import speeds - a lot depends on the actual disc. The Read Write spec is 24X but I rarely see speeds close to this.
