Logic on two of my Mac's

Just bought a used MacBook and want to put my Logic on it as well. Now I upgraded on my iMac, so I'm not sure how to go about this? Thanks.

Not sure what your question is here? But if it is related if the license permits if you can install it on another machine. Yes, you can. One desktop machine and a laptop. Though you cannot run two instances of Logic at the same time on both machines.

  • Running logic on two computers

Is anyone running two versions of logic on two different machines and locking them up? No nodes please, you can't run the exs on a node and thats the point of this question.

Mr. Udell, I remember you indeed. Greetings.
Well, two XS keys would change a lot in my universe. I better understand why you're going in this direction, and now, I'd encourage you to consider all EXS.
I have VSL First Edition Giga, then I cross/upgraded to EXS Pro Edition. Hence, I run both platforms. I intended to phase out my Giga and go all EXS. But there's Giga, loaded and ready to go with few polyphony issues and 1.5 GB from Windows... and a second XS key is a thousand dollars. So I'll be in Giga for a while.
In fact, I face a very similar situation as you, pressing for a larger template but frustrated by the OSX RAM limit.
EXS' seamlessness with Logic and the ability to offline bounce trump the benefits of Giga when cost is not an issue.
I'm well if reluctantly familiar with the world of sample translations, particularly from Giga to EXS. I use Translator and the native Giga Convert in EXS. If you can, Chris, spare yourself the tedium. It will consume time that you may better spend assembling a dual Mac template.
Really, all you need now is a cheaper second hand Mac and a MIDI device for it, if you don't mind analog recording to your primary Mac when mixing.
Personally, I've never broached a digital audio exchange between computers, but it would be ideal for you. (I'm wondering if you could still offline bounce with the audio of your second Mac digitally connected to your primary Mac.)
Another benefit is that, eventually, we'll access 8 GB of memory, which means 16 GB conceivably for you. And it's amazing how templates morph over time, according to the memory they may inherit. I've worked on orchestral templates since my first Roland S-550, and I doubt that we ever have enough memory. But things are ever-improving.

  • How do I transfer logic pro from my existing mac to my new macbook pro with no cd drive?

I have logic already installed on my mac desktop. I have just bought a macbook pro and I am trying to install my legitimate copy of logic onto my new mac, unfortunately Apple in their wisdom have removed the cd drive so the simplest option i.e. use the install disc is no longer an option..
I have tried using 'remote disc' but my desktop is not transferring the information this way, apparently it is because I have not upgraded to yosamite. I don't want to upgrade to yosamite as it has compatibility issues with another music software I use (maschine). Basically if I upgrade to yosamite I won't be able to use maschine.
If anyone out there can offer me a solution to my problem I will be very grateful. thanks

Assuming you are talking about the boxed set of Logic Studio (Logic Pro 9) on DVDs the only solutions are to either borrow or purchase an external CD/DVD drive and use that with your new MBP.
Amazon sells a very reasonably priced 'Amazon Basics' external CD/DVD drive suitable for the process...
    http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Portable-External-Optical-Drive/dp/B003M0NT1M /ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416924310&sr=8-1&keywords=CD+DVD+external+drive+amazon+ basics
Do NOT try and copy Logic across from your Mac to your MBP using something like Time Machine or Migration Assistant... 99% of the time, doing so results in all kind of weird issues later on.
Just install Logic pro 9 plus all it's content from scratch using the DVDs provided with Logic Studio Boxed set.....

  • Logic Studio on my new Mac Book Pro

I had one install of my Logic Studio on my imac and one on my old Mac Book. I bought a new Mac Book Pro and gave my old one to to my daughter. I reinstall all my iMac content to my new Mac Book via Time Machine synch. When i start Logic it asked me the key and when i put the key it declined, saying key is not right while i have original printed key which i have tried may time on this Mac book but it does not recognized this key. This iis the same key i install the first time. How should i make my Logic works on my new Mac Book. I am willing to erase from my old Mac Book if i know for sure it will work on the new one.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think your problem is with the other installs.  I have logic pro installed in 4 places.  It will however only let me run one instance at a time because it checks over the network.
I think some how you are entering the wrong key.  Or perhaps your key is for a much earlier version of logic?   You might want to contact apple if you are sure your key is correct and valid.

  • I updated to OS X Mavericks and now trying to run Logic Pro X on a MacBook Pro mid-2009, using an M-Audio Axiom 49 and an M-Audio Fast Track Pro... Logic keeps telling me that Mac OS X MIDI Services are not available... How do I solve this problem?

I updated to OS X Mavericks and now trying to run Logic Pro X on a MacBook Pro mid-2009, using an M-Audio Axiom 49 and an M-Audio Fast Track Pro... Logic keeps telling me that Mac OS X MIDI Services are not available... How do I solve this problem?

I just checked to see if the update to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 solved any of the issues outlined in my previous post, and to my dismay, nothing has changed -- all of the previous problems persist.
My iMac (8) -- it's renamed itself eight times since the recent troubleshoot with the Apple tech rep -- shows up as a shared device in Finder on my MacBook Pro, but when I click on it, I cannot establish a connection using "Connect As".  So I've attempted to connect using the menu "Go/Connect to Server...", using both (alternately) the iMac's name and IP address, to no avail.  I get a message which reads: "There was a problem connecting to the server 'Peter's iMac (8)'. This server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time.  Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
    Here's what I know:
    The server -- Peter's iMac (8) does exist;
    The server -- Peter's iMac (8) is available at this time;
    The server name -- Peter's iMac (8) -- is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
    The server IP address is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
The network connection is active when I attempt to connect.
I'm convinced the problems stem directly from the OS X Yosemite update.  None of this was ever remotely an issue in the previous OS X's -- any of them.  This is maddening!  What can be done?  Apple?? Anyone???

I had a MobileMe account and when Apple switched to iCloud I now have two mail accounts: @mac and @me. Additionally my folders in iCloud no longer show up in my Mail program on my iMac. How do I return to one account and see my iCloud folders on my mac?

I went to Notes.  Showed all notes.  Three notes are duplicated, one on iCloud and one on Icloud.  I deleted one of the notes and checked to see if the other still existed.  It did.  I deleted the other two notes.  I check all notes and found that the three notes were deleted on both accounts.  The only notes on this device are under On My iPad.
I went into system settings and tried to delete the Icloud account.  The warning comes up:  This will delete all IMAP notes on your device.  Will this also delete the notes in On My iPad?

Downloaded Canon printer/scanner drivers for Canon PIXMA MP520 and MX860 on Mac Book laptop, and they worked.  However, when I downloaded the same two drivers on Mac Book Air, neither worked.

I wasn't aware that VueScan charged a yearly license.
You simply launch Image Capture and if the scanner is recognized it will be listed in the SHARED list in the left display column.  Select the scanner name and the app will start an overview scan.  You will also see a list of scanning options in the right display column (resolution, paper size, file output format, etc.
The above description is when everything is working correctly, which has been the case for me.
    Good luck.

  • How do I load an AU instrument (Garritan ARIA player) into Logic Pro X on a Mac Mini OSX 10.8.5

how do I load an AU instrument (Garritan ARIA player) into Logic Pro X on a Mac Mini OSX 10.8.5 ?

You install the player .component in the Library/Audio/Plug Ins/Components folder (though an installer probably does that for you) and install(er) the sample content wherever you want, then you start Logic (the new plug in will be validated during startup), open or create a project, create/use a software instrument track, instantiate the player in an Instrument slot, and in the player itself you choose the sound(s) you want to play and load those.

  • Combining two or more Macs to share resources

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to join two or more Macs together and make them share their resources, like CPU, RAM or GPU (but I focus mainly on CPU). Is it possible?
I have already searched for information on the Internet but what I could find was information from 2+ years ago which featured older version of OS X, so I think I better start a new thread.
    Thanks

Apple had a technology called xGrid, but it was dropped after 10.7. You should search for "clusters" or "clustering"
Here is some info on the drop of xgrid, and some names of other technology:

  • Logically linking two objects in Illustrator.

Are there any means to logically link two objects in Illustrator like the connector line in CorelDraw? Definitely needed for technical illustrations.

    Torsten,
    The long answer is no.
Obviously, you may create ordinary lines and work with them in different ways, including ways to ease the pain.

  • I have two intel-era Mac Pros. One at work, another at home.  Two months ago both started having same mix of freezes/hangs

I own two Intel-era Mac Pros, one at work, the other at home office.  A couple months ago both started having the same problem: a mix of freezes/hangs and weird graphical artifacts showing up on the screens.  Usually I need to reboot. Usually a reboot fixes the problem for a while until it recurs. If it was just one computer, I'd figure disk problem or graphics card.  But the fact that both have been affected at the same time makes me suspect some software issue or possibly a trojan/virus.  Has anyone seen something like this?  Or have any advice?

The OS is still @ 10.4.8?
FBDIMMs tend to fail over time due to heat stress and more so if not kept cooler than 70*C
Helps to run SmcFanControl @ 900 rpm - esp in warmer weather
Monitor the system with Hardware Monitor, it is more accurate and thorough though not as "cute" as some.
Both have OEM 7300GT or X1900, which requires constant cleaning of dust.
We aren't mind readers so if you want, then add more details, the System Profile but w/o the serial number.
Maybe you install the same updates and programs and that is why.
Yes you could do a clean install on a fresh drive.
Maybe your drives are years old - and it never hurt to clone the system regularly for backup and maintenance, run Disk Warrior instead or in addition to Disk Utility. And take advantage of new faster drives.
No it may not be Flash based malware but then Apple isn't supporting pre-Snow Leopard as much if at all. They did offer a limited fix for recent malware.

  • Two partitions of Mac OS extended and one BootCamp partition

Hi. I'm new to mac. Please help.
Is it possible to have two partitions of Mac OS Extended and the third used for BootCamp? This is very critical for me.

    Hi Ovchar,
you can use the Terminal command 'Diskutil resize' described in this procedure to Triple Boot a Mac: http://wiki.onmac.net/index.php/TripleBoot_viaBootCamp
Look at the paragraph under 'Installing the Operating Systems'.
However, since you are about to repartition your complete HD, I strongly advise you to have a bootable backup/clone of your OSX on an external HD just in case something happens.
    Regards
