Logic platinum upgrade help

i purchased logic plat/ space des/ snd diver a few years ago as a crossgrade, i would like to upgrade to pro 8, but no one at apple seems to know how i handle the crossgrade part... noththig is registered at this point.. ive been touring or out of country for a bit..... any ideas of how to proceed before buying a useless upgrade would be greatly appreciated....

I can't see that how you got your existing copy is relevant in any way - if it is a full legit copy with an authorised XSkey, then you can upgrade to Logic Studio, and your XSkey should validate the upgrade.
Remember, all you need to upgrade to Logic Studio is a non-Academic Logic 5, 6 or 7 with an authorised XSkey key - which you have.
(My Logic Studio 8 is an upgrade from Logic Pro 7 which is an upgrade from Logic Pro 6 which is an upgrade/crossgrade from Logic 5 PC which is an upgrade from Logic 4 PC which is an upgrade from Logic 2 Atari which is an upgrade from Logic 1 Atari which is a upgrade from Creator/Notator Atari which I bought in the late eighties. Installing Logic 9 UPGRADE Help

Hi,
I've been using logic pro 8 since it came out, (got it part of logic studio) and i just bought the logic studio upgrade today so i can run logic 9, aswell as mainstage etc.
Ever since i put snow leopard on my mac i've had quite a few crashes with logic, when it crashes it gives me the report that it's due to my 'camelPhat plugin' but sometimes it doesn't say it is that.
The guy in the apple shop said i would be best to totally uninstall logic studio 8, then reinstall it, then install my logic studio upgrade, then reinstall my plugins e.g soft synths etc
He said that logic was probably crashing due to some things not being built for snow leopard, like my plugins.
I was just wondering what anyone thought of this? Is it worth while, am i likely to encounter any problems or would i be best just leaving it as it is and installing my logic studio upgrade over the top as it already is?

installed logic 9 upgrade next to LP 8 last week. Running on an imac intel 20 inch from 2008.
It's all working like a breeze. Worked on some pretty heavy projects. No crashes or any other problems.
I really really like Logic 9. Flex time and Bounce in place all already worth the update alone, although i think 200 euro's is a bit too expensive, compared to the price of the normal package (i think 400 or 500 euros)
Anyhow, i love this stuff. Soo much more intuitive and quick than Cubase, which I've used for years actually (and which is also a very very good program, but logic just beats it for me)

I recently upgraded to a G5 and Logic Pro 8. My previous system was a Power Mac 7200 with Logic Platinum 3.5.3. I can not open the old song files unless they are first saved in Logic 6 or 7. Where do I get a dongle for Logic 7?

HELP! HOW DO I KEEP LOGIC WHEN UPGRADING FROM TIGER TO SNOW LEOPARD!

So I use a later macbook but have another slightly older one (got it in 2007) that kinda kicked the bucket. I'm now able to use it again (with a new setup). I have Logic express (an older version) but the macbook is running that last version of tiger before leopard. I want to upgrade to snow leopard (which i've learned I can from tiger directly for the low price) but I don't want to lose logic since I payed for it and don't have the install discs anymore.
I don't mind getting rid of everything else but I want to keep the actual program on the comp and just run it in SL. What specifically do I have to do (as far as backing up and all that) to CLEANLY upgrade from tiger to SL but keep logic? I'll have an external HD by the time I'm ready so keep that in consideration.

I have never used Logic Express so I can't help you but if you to the Logic Express Forum and repost over there you might be able to find someone who knows about Logic Express to help you.

Upgrading from Logic Platinum to Logic 8 - No files just the software

Hi,
I've had a few years away from composing music and have recently started again. I have a license and XS Key for Logic Platinum and want to upgrade to Logic 8.0. I don't need to move any old files over, just upgrade and start afresh. Can I just buy the upgrade pack and that will prompt me for my dongle and XS key?

You don't need to install any of 7 (or 8), it will just ask you for either an earlier serial number or a dongle.

Question about upgrading to Logic 9! Help

alright, so this is probably the stupidest question posted in a long time, but in december i bought logic studio and im trying to figure out if i just need the logic 9 upgrade for logic studio? and will it upgrade all the other apps like soundtrack pro, etc. and will i get the voices jampack and new loops with it and everything if i just buy the upgrade instead of the full thing again?

i bought a logic studio 8 from ebay, its upgrade from logic express 7. the seller send me full package of logic studio 8 upgrade and one license label of the logic express 7 which stick on the license sheet of the logic studio 8. i did not get the full package of the logic express 7 but only get one license label of logic express 7. can i use this package of logic studio upgrade in my studio ?
the seller sell all the s/n for me include the license of express 7, but i only get the license label of express 7, is it enough to own the license of this logic studio ?

I'm afraid you may have to take this up with the seller, as it seems he didn't deliver what was listed for the bid. Because we are now on Logic 9, I'm unsure as to the effectiveness of updating past iterations of Logic. If all else fails, contact Ebay and/or Apple support.

Logic Platinum 6.4.3 refuses to work on Quad G5

•"optimized for G4" emblem shows up for some reason
•it launched once, and when I checked the cpu settings it gave me the choice of "G4 or Generic"
• it only launched the one time...after that, it crashes everytime on launch
• I have trashed all the emagic & Logic related docs I can find in the system/home library and did a clean install
• my motu 828 drivers are fresh as are the midiman midi interface drivers
• everything was working perfectly on my dual G5 last week (sold it)
• drive diagnostics report nothing unusual
• all other audio apps work fine

ok I figured out the problem(s)
#1: For some reason, spotlight doesn't include system components in search results
#2: an old version of the Reaktor AU was present in the system, but didn't show up on a search so I had to scavenge the OS looking for it (YAY EDUCATION)
#3: Despite the fact that you can download the Logic upgrade from apple, Version 6.4.3 is not an upgrade to Logic Platinum......it's an upgrade to Logic Pro
When I removed the old Reaktor AU, things half-worked again. However, 6.4.3 told me it refused to register, yadda yadda....it took me a while to notice that it actually said "Pro" instead of "Platinum"
I contemplated upgrading to LP7, but I can't afford it after buying MY NEW TD-20 drum brain today YEEEHAW HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO ME

I don't know where else to ask this: Quick Question about Logic Platinum 6

Hi everyone,
This question actually pertains to a copy of Logic Platinum 6 I own but I don't know where else to ask it, so here I am in the Logic 8 forum.
I haven't touched Logic in a year or maybe two, and I just installed it on my computer and after attempting to start it up with two different XS keys (I thought I lost one so I have a replacement and I forget which one is the active one) it says "no XS key found" to both of them.
I want to upgrade to Logic 8 but in the mean time I can't even get Logic 6 to recognize my XS key.
Please help me out if you have any information that would be beneficial or know where I could seek help!

When you plugin them in, are they recognised in System Profiler? Try differnt ports, connecting them directly and not on a hub. Try on a different computer if necessary.

EMAGIC AUDIO LOGIC PLATINUM- ANYBODY KNOW BOUT THIS PROGRAM?

I recently purchased an Emagic audio logic platinum 3.6 software program without knowing Emagic no longer exists- my question is; is this program compatible with apple programs or am I outta luck and limited to outdated and discontinued accessories? I'm a musician, who is looking to learn this aspect of the music business and would appreciate your help, if you have experience with this program. Thank you- Tony in Las Vegas

If you're still running System 8.6 (as per your signature), then Logic Platinum 3.6 sounds about right: It's from the mid-90s and is so far beyond obsolete that it can be deigned antique.
If you bought the Windows/PC version, however, you're outta luck, because that will not run on a Mac.

Updating logic studio 8 - help needed!

Can anyone cleverer than me help me with a problem?
I bought a second hand mac book pro and it had a copy of logic pro on it that when you opened it asked for the serial number. I had logic plat 6 on my previous mac and I bought the update to studio pro 8, installed it with the xs key in and it all seemed to work fine until i did a software update and tried to launch it again. It just came up asking for the serial no as before which the upgrade version doesn't have on the packaging. I then have to reinstall which again works until i try to update.
I have tried:
uninstalling logic using appzapper before reinstalling.
entering the serial no that is shown when the app is opening up.
running update with the xs key in.
none of these have worked and it's starting to get annoying. I think it must be to do with the version that was on the machine when i got it but using appzapper i have no idea how to get rid of it.
Any help on this would be hugely appreciated.

You've confused me with this. Are you saying that your Logic Studio Upgrade package doesn't have a serial number? Because it should. Inside the box are several thin documents, one of which is called 'Installing Your Software.' You'll find your serial number on that.
It's very possible that if you used App Zapper to uninstall the previous LP8 it didn't find the folder that contains the Serial #, and therefore Logic is still running on your friends number. (I just opened LP8 in App Zapper and it didn't find that folder). Go to Your User/Library/Preferences/Logic, and dump the files within that folder. There are Logic preference files in the Preferences folder, but you want to dump the ones *inside the Logic folder within the Preferences folder*.
You shouldn't have to reinstall Logic to get it to be under your license. Just dump the files mentioned above, start Logic, put in the Serial Number in your package, and then it will be running on yours. You might need the XS key in for that.
Once it's all squared away, and it's running from your serial number, you should be able to update Logic without the XS Key and without having to put in your Serial Number each time.

Question about installing logic 9 upgrade on new computer

Hello!
I just purchased a new mac pro (woo hoo... finally) and the logic 9 upgrade pack. I own Logic 8 but I'm not sure if I should install it before installing the logic 9 upgrade.
Will I miss out on any parts of the logic 8 sound library, loops, effects, etc by only installing logic 9? I have my S# and am aware installing Logic 8 is not needed, just curious if there are any advantages or disadvantages of installing.

You only need the serial numbers. During instal lyou will be asked for a qualifying product and then must input the serial number for LR3 as a secondary number. Mylenium

Notice, -internal interface-. What you have is a simple USB MIDI Interface. Most MIDI interfaces are USB.
My point is (was), MIDI OUT of the Korg goes to the connector marked MIDI IN on the Alesis, those new to MIDI often get this wrong.
