Logic playback is  cutting out

I bought a new iMac 756GB flashdrive and 24GB RAM.  I migrated from my older iMac to my new one.  Now on play back, in Logic, I keep getting audio cut-out as I play through my projects.  It cuts out at random.  I have checked that it does it in both audio interface mode (saffire pro \; thunderbolt to firewire) and in standalone with it's internal audio i/o).  Is any one else experiencing these problems?

Problem solved - I had to authorize iZotope.

  • T410 - sound cuts out during playback, resumes after pressing volup or voldown

hello, I am using T410 with Win& x64, more more than 2yrs. Last week the sound playback issue occured. This happens with video and audio playback of any file type. After 2-3 mins of normal playback sound cuts out, but resumes right after I press vol up or down. Then after 2-3 mins it cuts out again and so on. I dont believe its a software -related error, since sound does not play even with Knoppix Live CD. Latest drivers and BIOS updates are properly installed. windows sound test finishes succesfully. I have read similar posts but all were related to software configuration. I have also replaced the speakers without change. Is there a known fix, or even a fix at all? Thanks

Yes, videos, music, online, off-line and even window sounds, all audio turns off.  Sometimes messing with the volume slider or mute button will bring it back on but eventually neither of these work and I have no audio period until I restart the computer and then the cycle starts over.  For my business I create informational short videos or audios and use internet calling.  I also attend trainings and meetings online.  Sound cuts out first every few minutes and gradually increasing until it will not come back on at all.  I purchased a small bluetooth speaker and use that but it is a pain to move, along with the laptop, when I am moving from one room or location to another.  Thought it would be a temporary solution until I could get the internal speakers working but since that is unlikely to happen purchased clipon speakers to make it easier to transport.  This is not some off brand, $350 computer but supposedly a quality business computer, which is what I paid for but did not receive.  As I said, I have searched the internet and found hundreds of post regarding this problem on both 410s and 510s.

  • Midi Audio Cuts out when Playback tracks are triggered.

    Hi,
I am having an issue where if I open Mainstage 2 and begin playing a Midi Sequence through a 3rd party Plug-in, the audio cuts out from the plug-in when I trigger my group of Playback tracks for the first time and only restarts when a new note is played. This is particularly a problem because the sound is arpegiated and continuous. 9 out of 10 times if I do it again right afterwards it will be fine without any issues at all. There was a time during rehearsal when it absolutely would not work, but I think a restart fixed it. CPU usage and memory usage do not seem to be the problem.
So my question is, is it normal for it to do that on the first time? Is there any reason why it would not absolutely work that time during rehearsal. And lastly, is there anyway to make it just work every time!
I have tried reading up on this, and from what I understand, putting each playback track on a separate patch might help. My issue with that is I have already designed a layout that fits everything on one screen in one patch. I don't want to be switching screens during a song to adjust levels for the playback tracks. I have One Vocal, One Midi Synth, 8 playback tracks, and 3 Aux strips.
I am new to mainstage and might not completely understand how to make a set work with patches, but from what I understand if I put the playback tracks on different patches I can't control everything from one screen.
Any thoughts, insights, or advice is greatly appreciated.

Logic has that issue at times as well- where the first notes of a midi passage may not play. I believe the timing is such that the note starts are actually slightly before the first beat. Check your starting notes to make sure that they are really starting on the first beat and not slightly before.

  • Logic Pro X with OSX Mavericks 10.9.2 Audio output cuts out 3-5 minutes into running software?

Logic Pro X with OSX 10.9.2 Audio output cuts out 3-5 minutes into running software how can I fix this?

    Well, first....
Are you using any 3rd party plugins in your project?
If not then my suggestion wont be the cause......
To see which plugins you have installed (Though it's only if they are being actually used in the project that would cause your issue..) you can see them via the Audio Unit Manager found under the Logic Pro X menu bar..... Logic Pro X..... Audio Unit Manager
Also, any reason you are still using 10.9.2 instead of updating to 10.9.5?
Do you get any message when the audio cuts out?
Are you only using internal audio hardware or are you using an external Audio Interface? if so, which one?

  • IPhone 4 audio playback cuts out after latest update (5.1)

My phones audio playback ( podcast, audiobook or music) cuts out at random intervals during playback.
This happens when listening through apple headPhones or my audio lead aux input to my stereo.
This has only started since the last software update (5.1). It's really frustrating as you often hit the jump back or forward arrows when restarting, instead of the intended Play symbol ( they are close together). This is really frustrating when your listing to an hour+ podcast.
Is anyone else having this problem since the update?

Same problem here! My phone was functioning correctly after the update until today, when it randomly attempted it's own emergency call, then requested that I turn on location services. When I hit cancel, it repeatedly requested that I turn on the service. When I agreed to turn on location services, it defaulted to the screen with the iTunes logo and the USB cable. Since then, I have been unable to get it to function. The phone has been switching between a black screen and the apple screen and buzzing periodically. When I touched the apple, it pixellated and melted away. I did see a message that the iPhone needed to be activated once and very briefly. I managed to connect it to iTunes using an old troubleshooting guide, but when I asked iTunes to restore it to factory settings (politely, thank you), it gave me error 21 (unknown error) and said it was unable to restore.
    Hopefully someone has an answer...?

  • 1st song played on shuffle cuts out in playback

My 1GB shuffle now has a new quirk to it. At some point, I tried to play a song on it, after a total of about eight hours' use from the very first charging, and the song cut out at random points, resuming at a point well after the cut-out area. I thought it needed recharging, so I recharged it, but now the very first song I play after turning it on also cuts out and resumes at random points, usually after the first minute or so. If I reorder playback by pressing the play/pause button three times fast, the next song and the ones that follow play normally. The problem affects only the very first song after I turn it on. Anybody else experience this?

Well, I used it today and found that the problem doesn't go away by simple resets. The first song I tried to play cut out within the first minute or so, as expected, and resets (three altogether) had no positive effect on it at all. But before I consider restoring the firmware, I'll try refilling it with fresh material from iTunes and see if that changes anything.
I also noticed that the status light blinks green continuously during playback, though this would normally indicate that I pressed Play/Pause to pause the shuffle, which I haven't done in my attempts to figure out what is wrong with it otherwise. It shouldn't be blinking at all during normal playback, whcuh leads me to believe there might be a hardware problem that I don't recognize yet. But I'll refill it first and see what happens then.

  • Problems with playback in iTunes... skipping, cutting out, etc...

about half the time that i try to play music in my iTunes library, songs that have been there for years and played fine, will skip, or cut out during playback. I have imported CDs before that didn't import right and this will happen, but I've never had existing tracks sound like this, and it only happens sometimes. Sometimes I hit play and everything is normal and plays 100% fine. Any ideas?

How much RAM does your computer have? Apple Menu-> About This Mac to find out.
How much storage space does your library take up, and how many songs are there in it?
What format are the songs you're having trouble with in?

  • Logic's synth pad sounds are cutting out

I have noticed that the synth pad sounds (those that are built into Logic NOT 3rd party instruments) appear to be cutting out.
The patch will play for a short while then at some indeterminate point the sound will just die. If I load another patch in that will play, again for an indeterminate time then the sound dies again.
Logic is showing midi notes being input but no sound is being generated.
    This is driving me nuts!!
    Can anyone help
    Mike

Ok I found a solution to this - it seems to be a Maverick / Logic 9.18 and Lexicon bug as it didn't happen in the previous OSX.
Simply remove all instances of any 32bit plugins you have running, I missed a few lexicons thinking they'd be ok. Turns out they were the culprates. Bounce in place on each track and then remove the original track.

  • Audio cutting out on playback

I am editing a video in FCP X and the audio keeps cutting out in playback.
The video is mainly comprised of .mov files converted from M2T files using the Apple ProRes 422(HQ) codec. There are one or two .mov files supplied by another camera operator with lower spec, but these are not problematic.
I had no problems with previous projects using the same files, but this time the audio is constantly cutting out on playback. It seems to be fine on export which is a relief but the playback problem is making editing very difficult.
    Does anyone have any advice?
    I am using:
    MacBook Pro
    OS 10.8.4
    Processor: 2.7GHz Intel Core i7
    RAM: 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 384 MB
    Final Cut Pro X 10.0.9
    Thanks.

    Hi
Sorry for the delay in replying.
The video was filmed on a SonyZ7 camera which created M2T files. These were then converted using Pavtube MTS-M2TS Converter. I converted them to .mov files using the Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) codec.
I used the default audio settings for the conversion which are:
    Codec: pcm_s16le (no other options)
Sample rate: 44100 (only other option is 44800)
Bitrate: 352800 (only other option is 38400)
    Channels: stereo
The only changes I've made to the audio in FCPX are to adjust volume, add fades, and in some cases remove one of the channels and turn the other one into dual mono.
I've also now cleared some space on my Macbook harddrive as I wondered if that was the problem, it's now less than 50% full and it's still an issue. It doesn't seem to be a RAM issue as I have the MemoryFreer app and this happens even when I have plenty of free memory.
    Hope someone can help?
    Thanks

  • Sound Cuts Out During Playback-Sound Card/Audio Interface Necessary?-

I'm a voiceover artist with the following setup:
    Sennheiser MKH 416 P48 U3 Microphone
    Yamaha HS80M Reference Monitors
    Mackie Onyx-i 1220 Mixer
    Adobe Audition CS6
    Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop (Intel Core2 Duo, CPU T5750 @ 2GHz, 32-bit)
Until recently, I could hear anything I recorded or pre-recorded items with no issues.  However, now, as I listen to anything, the sound 'cuts out' (latency issues?).  The meters on Audition will still be moving, but I'll get no sound from my monitors.  I upgraded to Windows 7, hoping and thinking this would solve the issue, and that Audition would play nicely with Windows 7.  This 'solution' seemed to have helped, but ultimately, it did not resolve my issue.  At this point, I believe it's my sound card.  My studio quality setup seems to be too much for my consumer grade sound card.  Because my Mackie has an interface built into it, I did not believe that I needed an interface.  However, I'm beginning to question that.  So, that's part of my question.  Is an audio interface necessary for me even though I have one built into my Mackie?  If so, based on what I list for my system, does anyone have any recommendations for interfaces?  If I do not need an interface, I'd appreciate any suggestions or ideas as to what's causing the sound to 'cut out' and how to resolve it.  Any and all help, I thank you for it in advance!
    E

Finally!  I wrote a reply a few hours back but the fine folks at Adobe took the site down just before I hit send!  Lucky I saved it elsewhere because the "recovered post" was only the first couple of paragraphs.
    Anyhow, take 2.
Well, first off, your Mackie Onyx mixer has a firewire interface built in so it, in effect, becomes your sound card.  The one in your computer isn't involved in the recording/playback process at all (at least not unless you're trying to do something like monitor via the computer card rather than the mixer).  Therefore, buying another sound card/interface won't help at all.
Similarly, audio dropouts aren't a latency issue, at least not directly.  Latency is the delay in the audio as it does the round trip via you sound interface (mixer) and computer.  It's more of an issue for musicians trying to be beat accurate as they over dub tracks.  However, the latency controls could be affecting your drop out problem.  The latency control in Audition is effectively controlling the buffer size--and having a larger buffer (which increases latency) also gives you playback more protection against glitches when your computer gets busy doing something else.  So...the first thing to try is increasing the latency/buffer size on the Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware menu.
Another thing to check is that you're using the latest drivers from Mackie--check their site and download/install the latest if there are some available.  If there's a choice, go for ASIO drivers rather than MME if there are some available.
Also, I mentioned your computer getting busy with other things--for serious sound work shut down everything else on your computer.  Pay special attention to networking, wifi, and anti virus software, all of which are usualy prioritised to grab processor cycles over your sound work.  Also make sure you shut down all system sounds.
Hope at least one of these suggestions works for you.

  • Midi cutting out Logic/Oxygen 8

Hi Guys, I'm having an issue with midi notes cutting out when I play my little oxygen 8 into Logic. It does not exibit the same problem in reason, but when I rewire reason through logic and send the midi from logic it does the same thing. It also changes the screens as if the higher velocities are sending some sort of screen change command. I have disabled the midi remote function in the quick keys window but it still does it.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Exhausted. Yourself? What I meant was, from your description it sounds like the (higher Vel) MIDI events are still triggering commands. So if you can specify or deduce what is triggering it it will be easier to find, for example if it is only on Note 72. I have run across MIDI remoting when disbaled which I am pretty sure was not user error. Another thing you could try as a quick solution is to move your prefs and key commands to the desktop, restart Logic and see if the problem persists-that would be very fast. You could then reintroduce 1 file at a time until it returned.
    Good Luck

  • HT4587 my airport express regularly cuts out after 6 seconds of playback. Why?

I've had an airport express for several years. Used to work fine with ibook, but since getting imac 18 months ago, when I play a tune it plays the first 6 seconds through my hi fi then cuts out.

Just got back to my home machine (Sony Vaio, Windows
XP SP2) and installed the latest version of iTunes
(6.0.1.3), upgrading from the last 5.0 version I also
recently installed. Installation went fine, started
it up, it wouldn't see my Airport Express. I've got
my Sony hooked up through a hub to a Linksys Wireless
Access Point (WAP54G) which then broadcasts to the
Airport Express in my living room, hooked up to my
stereo. The setup has worked flawlessly for the past
year or so, throughout numerous iTunes upgrades (4.x,
    5.x, etc).
So I plugged and unplugged the Airport Express in the
living room as my Base Station Chooser couldn't see
it. 30 seconds later, it's up and there it is in the
Base Station Chooser. iTunes 6 even sees it ("JVC
Living Room" is the selection option). When I got to
select it in iTunes, I get the "Connecting to 'JVC
Living Room...'" dialogue pop up and it simply sits
    and spins. No connection.
I went to the Apple site, looked through some support
docs, noticed that my version of the Airport Express
software was out of date. I was running 4.0.1, not
4.2 for Windows. So I downloaded that, updated it,
    started it up, same thing.
So I'm sitting here now with the following situation:
    iTunes 6.0.1.3
    Airport Express running 4.2 admin
    iTunes can see it
Base Station Chooser can see it
    I've got a green light
    I can't connect.
I'm not getting any error messages. It simply sits
    and spins.
    Any help?
    Cheers,
    Gord.
I have the exact same problem! ( and same hardware!!) HELP!!!

  • Audio keeps cutting out. Brand new iMac- Logic 9

4 gigs of memory. when i play a song-- or when i record it- even at larger buffer sizes-- the audio cuts out. Only for a second though-- and when i check the recording-- it seems that the audio still got recorded-- just the output mutes out for a second. memory thing maybe? i've tried playing around w/ buffer sizes. i'm only ever recording 1 track at a time. could it be b/c i'm recording to a usb hard drive?
    thank you

Plugging your devices to different corners of your room can cause audio problems I illustrated in my previous post. Let's summarize everything:
    1. You have to have all your devices plugged in one source which means one plate or one socket (with a divider, of course) to avoid 'brrrrrrr' in your speakers (sorry, I don't remember the word for 'brrrrr')
    2. Try your setup in another roon, house, or even part of your town/city to check the audio interface itself.
!!!! Something came to my mind, perhaps you can just plug the audio interface to another firewire port on your computer? Do you have anything else connected to your firewire port? Sometimes it can be a problem! Even if it's in another port (not daisy chained).!

  • Audio sputters and then completely cuts out during playback

Hello, everyone.  I've been editing in iMovie for years, and have never come across this problem until today.
When playing back a clip that I've inserted into my project, the audio sputters on and off for about 10 seconds, and then cuts out completely.  If I stop playing, and then start again, the audio comes back, but in about 10 seconds, sputters and cuts out once again.  When I play back the original clip that I imported, this does not happen.  It is only when it is actually in my project.  The audio waves shown below the video are all intact as well.
I've already tried restarting the computer and deleting the iMovie preference file to see if that would make a difference, but it has not.  Any ideas as to what this could be, or even better yet, how to fix it?
    Thanks for your time.

Update: When detaching the audio, this problem goes away.  However, the audio fade-ins from transitions, etc. go away.  Is there any way to solve this problem without detaching?
