Logic pro 7.2.3 and 10.4.8 Upgrade question

im running logic pro 7.2.3 with mac os 10.4.8 on a g5 2.0 dual core (non-intel ppc) 5gigs of ram. I would like to upgrade both logic and the mac to the latest versions but i am concerned about performance etc. anybody using same specs and successfully upgraded. thank you in advance.

You'll be able to run Logic 9.02 and OS 10.5.8. Beyond that we are both out of the upgrade path until we get intel macs. It runs pretty well for me. More stable than 8.02, but less stable than 7.2.3. Save often. Time Machine is great though.... no more manual backups. The new features in 9.02 are worth it .

Same here, I have Logic Studio 8 and wouldn't mind staying with that version, except that the installer won't run on my new Macbook Pro as PowerPC apps are no longer supported. That's the message I get in any case.
I use to run Logic on a 2006 Macbook Pro.
I guess that makes me a very unhappy Apple user! I've been using Logic from the Emagic days, bought every upgrade only to see Apple kill what used to be one of the best Pro Audio application. Imagine if they had done the same to Photoshop, there would be a lot of unhappy designers out there
Paying the full price for years to slowly see your daily app go down in price & efficiency until it's given away at $199 for semi pro users. Well, at least ProTools is stil alive & kicking so I guess that's the way forward now.
This is coming from someone that never ever used a Windows machine to make music! Life is good still!

  • Guitar rig 5 compatability with Logic Pro X in monitor and playback?

Guitar rig 5 output very distorted in Logic Pro X in monitor and playback?
Worked fine in Garageband, do I need to change any audio settings in Logic or Guitar Rig?

Hey guys, I am trying to demo Guitar Rig 5 and it wont let me install it, once I download the demo.
    Any ideas?

  • Logic Pro 9.1.5 and Lion 10.7.2

I have Logic Pro 9.1.5 and recently updated to Lion 10.7.2 (have done clean install, not upgrade from SnowLeo)
Mostly everything is working smooth, but when I'm trying to Zoom (vertical or horizontal) or just moving around the project with
scrollbars in logic - while the playback is stopped or running - it is producing high CPU overspikes... Even on my 8-core machine.
The configuration is the same as it was in Snow Leopard, all the audio settings and etc..
Anyone also expecting such video or performance issues?
    my setup:
Mac Pro, early 2008, 12 Gb RAM, ATI Radeon HD 3870 mac edition, firewire MOTU Traveler audio interface, Logic Studio 9.1.5.

I was joking... sorry for my english
anyway: I'm running a top of the line Imac, Mac Os 10.7.1 (that came preinstalled) and Logic 9.15. a full Apple rig... It's not unrealistic to expect a normal performance. IMO it's a little sub-par.
Regarding Logic, the last thing I want is they make things "simpler"... It ussually means less options. If I'd want a simpler interface and less options I'd go with protools in a breeze as it's the de facto standard and it's a lot simpler.  If somebody wants even simpler things Garage Band is the way to go...not Logic.  Why people don't ask for a more complex GB instead of a simpler Logic?. The program has TONS of places to improve: PDC is a mess, there are LOTS of bugs, and I can think not less than 20 real improvements. None of them makes things simpler. IMHO it has to be professional, not "simpler". Playing piano is very simple, but it takes time and effort to master it.  I don't agree with this childist society thinking that everything has to be so simple that any ignorant can drive it. This is a professional tool for professionals, or it should be.
That said, I also like the new features in Lion. Problem is: I use my machine for work not for some eye candy. If that were the case I'd buy an Ipad.

No one here would have any information as to where the MacBook Pro was purchased.
Contact the person who gifted the Mac.

  • Conflict between Logic pro 7.2.2 and DIGI002 using a macbook pro

    Hi.
I'm running Logic pro 7.2.2 on a macbook Pro using a DIGI002 rack as audio interface. I experience an extremely bad performance from my computer and keep getting these warnings: "conflict between Logic Pro and external device (digi002)" and the application runs VERY slow! I have updated all drivers but that hasn't helped! I practically can't use Logic at all, as it complaints when hardly running any tracks in a session. Has anybody experinced or heard of it before? It has really started to get on my nerves!!!!

    Hi,
I am running Logic Pro with a Digi002 Rack.My driver versions are:
    Digi Core Audio manager 7.1.1cs1
ProTools LE v7.1.1cs1 also the first Intel compatible version of ProToolsLE.
    Logic Pro 7.2.2
All of this works, and I even use the Digi002 also to playback audio from iTunes,iMovieHD,iDVD,and Quicktime Pro,without any problems at all.
Are you able to run ProToolsLE well,or is it exhibiting the same problems?
Are you using the internal drive as a record drive,or do you have an external firewire drive for audio? This is important.I would recommend NEVER using the internal drive for recording audio,it can make the drive unusable after a while.
It would be good to know if you do have the latest drivers for the Digi002,and are able to run iTunes etc... If that is the case then going and removing all of Logic Pro preference files, and re-selecting the Digi002 interface as the audio hardware might do the trick. Also, check Audio Midi setup and make sure it sees the Digi002 correctly.
Lastly, and this suggestion no one seems to give...is simply this:check ALL your firewire cables, and if they look even a little frayed, replace them. Also, please put the Digi002 in the following order,if you are daisy chaining multiple firewire devices:
    MacBook Pro
    \Digi002 Rack
    \\firewire hard drive(s)
\\\any external DVD/CDburners,ESPECIALLY if the manufacturer recommends this position for heir device.
\\\\any other external devices(cameras, printers, whatever)and have them OFF when running Logic or ProTools.
I hope some of this helps,
    Cheers,
    Nick

  • Why do I have Logic Pro (9.1.3) and Logic Pro 9.0.0 in my app folder?

I have multiple versions of Logic Pro on my computer.  Both seem to work the same.  Plus I have 2 logic nodes.  Should I delete one and which one?  Any suggestions? Thanks

    9.1.3 is the current version.
Delete any other versions you have and don't want.

  • Mapping Yamaha DTXplorer in logic pro - Environment window clicks and Ports

The midi signals for Yamaha DTXplorer are off from GM. The snare (G0) and bass drum (A0) output notes do not trigger snare (D1) and bass drum (C1).
I am a novice to both MAC and Logic Pro.
I have the midi out of the drumset going USB right into my MAC.
    I've gotten as far as...
    1. Environment window>clicks and Ports
    2. Verifying the channels that DTX triggers for snare and bass drum.
    3. Changing the output notes to D1 & C1.
    Nothing changes with the sound.
In fact, I can change the output notes for drums that are set up correctly and they don't change either.
None of the alterations I do in the Environment window seem to do anything to the midi signals!
Do I need to activate or save the changes? If so, how (precisely)?
    Thanks in advance.

    You can do that from within the app, under menu Logic Pro X;

  • HELP! Logic Pro bouncing EMPTY MP3 and AIFF files..

    Hi everyone.
I've recently installed Logic Pro 8 onto a new Mac Pro. Entered the code and did a full session recording. But when I go to Bounce the track it goes through the process but then when I look at the Bounced track it is blank :s
I have tried both Mp3 and AIFF bounce and sending them straight to iTunes, but no luck.
    Any ideas?
The only other thing is that I have not yet Registered this Logic online as the Mac hasn't got a connection yet. Could this be the problem?
    Cheers for any help.
    Barka

    There is another possibility.
If, like I do, you are using ANY outboard or DSP FX (UAD-1 for example), or are using an interface with a DSP mixer that you are routing through (Metric HALO, for example), then back to your Logic 2-Buss (Out 1-2), you will need to check the real time check-box on bouncing dialog, and let the project sum in real-time.
    Does this make sense?
    Kind Regards,
    Mark

  • Having purchased Logic Pro some time ago and installing on my iMac, am I now allowed an additional install on my new MacBook Pro?

May I install Logic Pro on both my iMac and MacBook Pro? How do I make that Appearance is appropriate. store allow the second install?

The network check in LP9 to prevent this was removed in 9.1.6 onwards when the App Store version was released....

  • EXS File missing in Logic Pro 9: Unisyncl.wav and Unisynch.wav

    Hi to everybody!
I just installed logic pro 9 and this is my first experience with logic.
Using it I noticed that some files are missing. These files are: Unisyncl.wav and Unisynch.wav.
Searching the internet I discovered that those files belong to logic 8 and are located in the folder:
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples/05 Synthesizers/04 Sequence Elements/Spectrum Stack 01/UniSyncH.wav
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples/Analog Samples/Spectrum SQ/UniSyncH.wav
Please someone can send me them by mail or internet hosting service?
    My mail is: [email protected]
    Really thanks to all

Yes, I have them - both samples are in both folders:-
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples/05 Synthesizers/04 Sequence Elements/Spectrum Stack 01/UniSyncH.wav
    and
    /Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples/Analog Samples/Spectrum SQ/UniSyncH.wav
These are on the LP8 content disks but not on the LP9 content disks, strangely enough.
These will be only up for a short time as technically it's Apple content. I'm doing this to help you out as you're probably more than a little frustrated. Please post back when you have downloaded them.

  • Logic pro 7.2.3 and digi002 compatibility

    Hi,
here's my problem: I cannot record audio in Logic Pro. When I put a track in "record enable mode", a kind of a white noise screams in that track (maximum level). What is strange is that i can play audio track with no problem. It's just when I record. I tried disabling CoreAudio in the Audio Preferences, i can record-enable any audio track without any noise...
    Here's my configuration:
    MacPro (intel)
    Digidesign digi002 rack
    OS X 10.4.7
    Logic Pro 7.2.3
    Logic Pro 7.2.3   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   MacPro (intel 2x2Ghz , 1Gb DDR2)

..ok, you done? can we trash digidesign now? cheers.
one thing to bear in mind with digi is that they are up there among the world's worst for driver design. so much so that they even acquired another company reknowned for its shoddy drivers (m-audio) and even theirs got worse too..
this of course does not mean you can't get a really solid system up and running with digi gear.. you can. you just need to meticulously make sure that absolutely every driver version, OS version and host app version matches exactly the config that has been tested and given the green light by digi. seeing as they are also notoriously slow as well, this often means sticking to a few versions older of the OS than the current latest, because the latest digi driver is only tested for that one. of course, this can cause trouble when for example the version of logic you are running is supposed to be on the latest OS, for its own compatibility issues.. but this is just the nature of the beast.
the thing to keep in mind with digi gear is: the moment you have it all working, the interfac doesn't drop out, no crashes, no bizarre random noises or crackling, latency is acceptable... don't touch a thing.. don't touch that software update button on your mac until you really really have to because it could bring your house of cards down.
of course, if you use digi hardware with protools, suddenly as if by magic, it is the most stable and reliable hardware anyone could ask for. go figure.

  • Logic Pro slow after SSD and mountain lion update.

1 week ago i was mixing a project of 90 tracks, and every run really well, no "system overloads" at all.
Sometimes the 320gb 5400rpm HDD give away a message that it was running a little slow and had a hard time dealing with all the 90 tracks, but it still work'd well.
3 days ago i installed a new samsung 830 256GB SSD and updated from lion to mountain lion and wow!
Everything is really fast, except logic pro.
Im now running a project with only 35 audio tracks with EQ,compressor and 2 busses with reverb.
It should work fine, SSD with 2,3 dualcore i5 cpu and 8gb ram but no, i am only able to play a quarter of a secound before i get the anoying "system overload" message....
Does somebody know what could be wrong? Mixing is my job soo this is a real problem for me.
    Thanks!

Are you getting sudden motion sensor related stops? It may be best to tern your SMS off, as there is no need for SMS in a drive with no moving parts.
They would look like the error here
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3806031?start=0&tstart=0
if there is no mention of the SMS I wouldn't bother although, no harm would be done if you did anyway.
You disable SMS by doing the following:
    Launch Terminal
Type the following at the command line: sudo pmset -a sms 0
Hit return and enter your password

  • Logic Pro 7.2.3 and OS X 10.4.8

    Hello,
wanted to know if this set up will work with the delta 66... I see that it did work with Logic Pro 7.1/OS X 10.4.1... any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you kindly for your answer. Sorry for not having explained my problem well enough.
For the first part, yes, I am talking about the score view window. When I activate the "page view", I only get to see one huge line that goes across the page boundaries into the blue-grey-ish background and is all messed up. ("Print view" activated or not, it's the same).
Along with that comes the problem that I cannot print from any of Logic's windows nor open the "page setup" dialogue. That's why I guess that something in the paper settings must be corrupted or illegible to the 7.2.3 version of Logic somehow.
Remember that this "only" happens when I open songs I saved on my "old" computer. Everything works fine for newly created songs.
I tried a lot of stuff already, nothing worked.
    Any help appreciated.

  • I am running Logic Pro 9.1.7, and I use a Roland RD700GX keyboard to input midi data into Logic.  How do I set up Logic to record the Roland's own internal Grand Piano sounds into Logic, while retaining the ability to make midi edits? By Eggie

I am running Logic Pro 9.1.7 on a mid-2011 Intel iMac running OS10.7.4. I use a Roland RD700GX as my midi input keyboard.  How can I set up Logic to record The RD700GX's own internal Grand Piano sounds, while retaining the ability to take advantage of Logic 9's midi editing capabilities. I am a relative newcomer to Logic, and I haven't been able to find an answer in The Logic 9 User Manual. A step by step procedure would be much appreciated. Thank you.
    Eggie0379

Create a new External Midi Track, set the MIDI port to the one being connected to teh RD700. Now,create a new Software Instrument track. Select the external instrument plug-in. Set the MIDI destination and the audio input inside the Plug-in. Now, you can record the MIDI notes and hear the sound of the RD700. Once you've editied, you can bounce the track.
