Logic Pro 7 instrument plug ins....trouble

After long hours and no result.....have to rely to the connoisseur
Some instrument plug ins work (EVB3) and others give me a regular noise before and after loading a sound (ESX24, EVD6,...)
It happens at regular intervals...like a metronome but those bangs appear when the memory display updates itself.
If somebody can tip me
thanks

tip ,go to the store and buy some mac specified ram , at least a gig ,you will be shocked at how much your performance will improve.
anyone on this site will agree ,the source of all your problems is that 512 of ram.[this won't solve the problem with your girlfreind]

• Where does Logic Pro 7 install plug-ins?

Apologies, but I cannot find the answer to this question. Thanks in advance for any help!
Where does Logic Pro 7 install plug-ins by default on the computer? I have searched all through the Macintosh HD Library and with Spotlight to no avail.

Logic (and most other DAW host) applications deliberately do not make their plugins phycially separate AU (or VST) plugins that get installed in the Compononets folder. They do not want you to be able to use then with any other program. They are "inetgrated" into the code, and so not usable outside the app. Or the idea is, you don't get the plugins unless you buy the host program (and it is also a way to lock you into using their DAW software).
There was once I think talk of making some Logic plugins available as a 3rd party package, but that may have been before the Apple acquisition. So if you want your work to be portable to other DAW programs, then you are better off not using any of Logic's built-in plugins (and other 3rd party plugins do what Logic's plugins do, often better, though obviously you must pay for 3rd party plugins).

• How do I visually monitor instrumental plug-ins from the SAME computer??

Hello -
My set-up is noted below. Please note that my audio device for my main computer (the Mac Pro) is the _Motu 2408 MK3_.
For larger sequencing projects, I use up to a choice of three slave computers (an aging Dell Precision Workstation, a Receptor and a MacBook Pro). I am happy to say that all works fine with this set up.
I own many instrumental plug-ins for the MacPro (and the slave computers). Most of the instrumental plug-ins in this computer (and the others) are "powered" by Native-Instrument's Kontakt 2 Player or the full version of Kontakt 2.
For the first time, I was experimenting with the MacPro's IAC Driver. So, for example, I was able to get the piano to play using Kontakt 2 OUTSIDE of the Logic program using the IAC Driver. It is very nice to know that I am able to do this. However, I was not able to visually monitor the audio signal from within Logic as I was playing the piano sound from the "external" Kontakt 2 program. So, to clarify my problem, I could hear the piano, but I could not see the audio signal on the audio meter from within Logic.
First, I tried using the Logic's "*External Instrument*" plug-in. That did not work. Second, communicating with the "external" Kontakt 2 program using Logic's midi instrument via the IAC driver, I tried monitoring the audio signal using an Audio Channel from Logic. I Could not figure out how to route the audio signal so that it could be seen by Logic, so that did not work.
I tried seeing if I could somehow configure the 2408 MK3 driver and CueMix Console. Nothing.
So, here is my question (possibly two questions):
1) Is it possible to configure the MOTU 2408 MK3 device so that I can monitor audio signals from within Logic that originate from instrumental plug-ins activated OUTSIDE of Logic?
If yes, then. . .
2) HOW do I configure the MOTU 2408 MK3 device and/or configure Logic so that the audio signals can be monitored? (And so that I can add EQ and audio effects, etc.??)
Thank you in advance. . .
Ted

First, noequplease, THANK YOU very much for taking the time to answer my question. I sincerely appreciate the time and effort that you shared!!!
I need to clarify myself, I guess. These are not "external" synths in the literal sense. Everything is "internal" within the same computer (the MacPro) as the Logic Pro program. These are instrumental plug-ins like the *Kontakt 2 Player* or the *Kontakt 2* (full version). What I've learned how to do is connect to these instrumental software plug-ins external from the Logic Pro program via the IAC Driver. So, it's all "internal" within the computer, just "external" from Logic. (If that makes sense.)
The reason I'm attempting to connect Logic this way is so that I can use more of the 8 GBs of RAM found within my MacPro. So, in other words, I would use the Kontakt 2 Player as an instrumental plug-in within the Logic Pro program and ALSO connect Logic Pro to the "external" *Kontakt 2 Player* (the _stand alone_ plug-in version) via the IAC Driver.
I can communicate with the stand alone version(s) of Kontakt via the IAC driver. Sound is coming out. However, I have yet to figure out a way route the audio signals from the stand alone plug-in to inside Logic.
I suspect that your suggestion of using an external mixer might be the answer (despite using computer-based instrumental plug-ins). I don't think that there's a way of routing the audio signal from a stand alone plug-in to Logic without the use of some kind of mixer. I most probably will need a digital mixer to take advantage of the 2408 MK3's ADAT digital signals to route the signals back into the MacPro. Sadly, I can't afford a digital mixer at this time.
I don't know. . . .
BUT, like I said in my original post, my CURRENT set-up using the "slave" computers works just fine. I'm just trying to figure out a way to make use of all of my MacPro's 8 GBs of RAM. UGH.
Any ideas??

• Good Ethnic Instrument Plug Ins?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of any good "Ethnic" (such a general term I know, but most vst's i've seen go by that name), and specifically Middle Eastern instrument plug-ins? Any recommendations would be appreciated, for any plug-ins that work with Pro 7. Many thanks...

I'd go East/West any day of the week. That stuff is
amazing and definitely worth the price. I don't have
their ethnic pack yet, but it's next on my list.
Everything else I have from them is impeccable.
The reason I don't like East/West is because of Kompakt/Kontakt player. I've seen they've created their own player (cleverly named "Play"). Does anyone have any experince with thier new player? The Kompakt era seemed like a huge head ache full compatibilty issues and NI problems.

• Lost all Instrument Plug-ins and Samples

I recently Downloaded a free plugin from Native instruments website and after doing so I Lost all of my Instrument plug-ins and drum samples. I removed the native download but I still have not been able to recover my existing Logic instruments, I'm running Logic 9 any ideas?

Presets: Save them in CS3, copy the files to CS5.
Do NOT copy all the Adobe plugins from CS3, or you're in for a world of pain.
Just copy the third party plugins, or better yet, reinstall them for CS5.

Is it possible to support Logic in 32-bit plug-ins in future updates? How about to make a bridge built in Logic. I would have long ago moved on to a new version of Logic, but I have the equipment (UAD-1 and Liquid Mix), which are not run on the Loqic X. So I would suggest to make a bridge in Logic X. As it was in version 9 of the Logic.

In addition.. Focusrite have stated they will not be releasing a 64bit version of Liquid Mix as they consider it outdated software these days.... even though at one point a limited release beta version had a 64bit AU version included but it was so unstable it was rapidly dropped...
However the 32bit to 64bit bridge plugin 32 Lives,  states it will handle and 'convert' the Stereo version of Liquid Mix to 64bit but not the Mono version... within LPX
http://www.soundradix.com/products/32-lives/compatibility
Finally, like others here, I would be extremely surprised if Apple added 32bit AU support back into LPX..  That '32bit tech' is long dead and gone....in terms of modern DAWs... as it is in other DAWs such as the recent PT versions...

10.6.8 won't run on a PowerPC Mac.
10.6.8 also won't run the latest Java.  Here's what version of Java you can run:

• Moving instrument plug-ins

Hi all - had a memory issue with my computer.
I realized that it was because I installed all my instruments on my main CPU instead of an external hard drive.
Went out and bought a G Raid and started re-installing everything all over again.
When I open up older Logic sessions, HOW do I point Logic to the right place in terms of finding the plug-ins?
(this is not as easy as Final Cut Pro!)
Logic is not prompting me at all to search for the item.  It just shows it as "crossed out" in the channel strip.
HELP!

• My E-MU X-board49 controls Logic, why not my plug-ins?

I hope somebody can shed some light on this: Logic 9 is excellent with my X-board. I am able to program what I want and Logic learns it perfectly. What I'm wondering is, why don't my external plug-ins respond to my controller in the same manor as Logic? I mean, SOME Native Instruments plugs will attach when I click the "learn midi" button, but most do nothing. For example, I click "learn midi" on my Waves plugs and they don't respond at all. Is there some kind of menu within Logic where I can program my plug-ins to respond to the X-board, or are they just not compatible? Thanks!

Guess you can set up such things through the environement but that is really not my strong side.
Me, I use a novation controller with the AutoMap function. That works with Waves and most other plugins.
Do a search for Environement tutorials or wait for a better reply.

• Logic has terrible Orchestral plug-ins, but I suppose this is a common issue since others are so expensive.

I would guess quality in this field comes pricey, since I found out the top of the line "Vienna Symphonic Library" can run up to $6 grand or more. So my question is, since there are so many "VSL" versions to choose from where do I start. I mean, is anyone familiar enough to recommend the best "Software Bundle" to choose from under $2 grand for this highly exceptional line.
My main problem with Logics bundle is the attack times. They are so slow that anything remotely fast never allows the notes to spring into full fruition. it's impossible getting any furiously fast violin, and the choirs fair little better. I hadn't even tried the Brass section yet since what's the point if the string section is so poor. And speaking of which, their String Ensemble sounds like anything but. It's more like a single stringed instrument with a bit of reverb -- if that even, I thought GarageBand was bad. So that is how I came to the conclusion such quality Orchestral Software is hard to come by. I play mainly Epic Metal and great sounding Choir, String, and Brass sections are non-negotiable, but I had no idea I'de be laying out as much for the right software as I had for my new MacBook Pro. If thems the breaks so beat it, I'm too seasoned a musician to not finally produce some quality material, even if it kills me.
O, and one more thing. I'm still confused about Logic. My new Bundle box says "Logic Studio," but the app says Logic Pro, so I figured it doesn't really matter. But then I often get asked which one of these do I have, like even before posting this quirey. I suppose that Logic Studio contains Logic Pro plus other stuff, whereas Logic Pro is just that minus all the extras. Wow, I can't believe I finally figured it out, I think.

I agree with you about the volume on the phone itself. (I have 3Gs). It needs to be louder. I also wear hearing aids. However I do think there may be something wrong with your phone because when I connect my earbuds (Klipsh) I get very good volume through them. In fact at full volume it's way too loud. I would push for a replacement phone.
FWIW, my daughter (who also wears hearing aids) has trouble hearing her iphone. It appears to have more to do with the speaker not being lined up with the hearing aid's input. Her audiologist pointed out that some current hearing aids support bluetooth, I think we will get those next time we replace her hearing aids.

• User Preset Data Base for Logic Pro's instruments - Synths, etc

I realize Logic Pro 9 comes with more instrument presets than any one person can audition in a single day, or a week or month for that matter. But I am looking for the data base where other users have shared their own settings. Line 6 has one for Pod Farm and despite their 1000 presets, I found what other users did to be super amazing. Back to Logic Pro, I searched last year for a Theremin sample and someone created it in one of Logic's synths and posted it.
I can't imagine I'm the first person to ask this questions. I must not be searching correctly. Please help.

• Garageband 10.0.3: old files won't load instrument plug-ins

Hi all,
I've opened up some old Garageband files in GB 10.0.3 and when I add a new software instrument track, I can't load any instruments. It won't play the apple plug-ins or third-party plug-ins(all up to date). If I create a new project, everything works fine. AU units are selected under preferences.
Here's a screen shot of my load attempt. As you can see, instead of instruments, I'm only seeing effects. Any help with this problem is appreciated.

OK.  I will give it a shot.  I assume I can reload FCPX without having it count as another download from the APP store.  I think they have a limit of 5, but maybe that is to different computers.
Thanks for letting me know about having to install in a certain order.  I am going forward with FCPX but need to go backwards with FCP7.

• Logic pro 9 Instrument issues/ weird sound occurring!!

Hi guys,
I need some help here, I think I have a big issues here with my logic instruments. I just installed Logic pro 9 about a week ago, it's working fine until...
today when I load some of the Logic instruments (such as EFM 1 Synth, ES2, ES2 syth, or any other sytnh) from the library, there're some kind of strange/weird sound, kind of growling synth sound going on (weeeewww gurrrrrrrrt!), the volume level is also peaking out because of it. I still could play the instruments, but the weird growling sound doesn't stop, & the volume peak out even more!. the only logic instruments that works fine are Evb3 tonewheel organ, Utrabeat & Ev88 Electric piano.
Same things happen with most of my ESX24 instruments ( such as pop horns, guitar, orchestral, etc) weird growling sound (wew grrrrt).
Does anyone know what's happening???
Thank you

Hi Eriksimon,
Yes, indeed the noise stop when I bypass the instrument.
Yes the noise seems to have a steady defined pitch & the character of the noise is the same as the affected instruments.
No I haven't try to load different presets at that time (it freaks me out already!)
No I don't think I've made any tweaks/ adaptation to the environment (could you give me example?).
*But Just now, at this moment, I just try to open & run my Logic 9 again & load the problematic instruments, The Noise's gone, I tried every instrument that has that noise problem (try different presets now) , it works fine, the noise gone (it surprise me). BUT STILL I'm afraid that this noise will occur again.
Do you have any idea ?,
Thank you

• Logic Pro X: Missing plug-in window size preference

Hi all,
I'm slow to update my gear, I know... Anyway, just upgraded from LP 9 to LP X. Among the pecularities I noticed, the preference for setting default plug-in window size (formerly in Preferences > Display > Mixer) now seems to have disappeared.
Funnily, it is still advertised at some point in the User Guide. Page 100 of the PDF version says:
Set the size at which all plug-in windows open
Choose Logic Pro > Preferences > Display, then click the Mixer tab.
In the Plug-in Window section, choose the size from the Default Size pop-up menu.
However, no such pop-up menu appears on that tab in LP X itself (nor in the copy of that tab that appears in the Preferences detailed section later on in the manual...).
Does anyone have any idea how to set this, so as not to waste useless time changing the "view" setting in each and every individual plug-in window?
Thanks in advance for the tips!
Best regards,
Arnaud

Hi all,
A little "up" of this one.
Has anyone any idea on this?
Or doesn't anyone use this plug-in windows default size preference any more in LP X vs LP 9 (I suppose I shouldn't be the only one missing this feature...)?
Best regards,
Arnaud
