Logic pro 7 with moto 896hd firewire

I keep getting error while trying to sync audio and midi

here's the post I made concerning the same issue on your other post. hth

This issue has recently reared it's head with quite a few people. Luckily there is usuallly an easy fix.
Try one of these in order:
1.Uplug your firewire cable and reset your motu unit to factory defaults (the exact way to do this depends on your particular model)
2. Reset the optical input in cuemix - whatever it reads now, change it, and then change it back
3. Toggle the voltage switch
My guess is that the first on will solve your problem...it did for me

Logic Pro X with OSX 10.9.2 Audio output cuts out 3-5 minutes into running software how can I fix this?

    Well, first....
Are you using any 3rd party plugins in your project?
If not then my suggestion wont be the cause......
To see which plugins you have installed (Though it's only if they are being actually used in the project that would cause your issue..) you can see them via the Audio Unit Manager found under the Logic Pro X menu bar..... Logic Pro X..... Audio Unit Manager
Also, any reason you are still using 10.9.2 instead of updating to 10.9.5?
Do you get any message when the audio cuts out?
Are you only using internal audio hardware or are you using an external Audio Interface? if so, which one?

Is music created in logic pro compatible with the logic pro x ? for instance if you have created something in logic pro and want to add or tweak it, is that possible? I suppose you would need the original logic folder?

Yes it is more or less compatible, except the use of 32 bit plugins, which is prohibited from now on. So although you're able to open Logic projects as far as down to v5 I believe, it is advisable to remain for 'adding and tweaking' in your pre LPX environment.

The installer for Logic Pro 8 has a bug which keeps it from operating in Lion or Mt. Lion.  Use the program Pacifist to install it.

Re: Macbook Pro 10.6.8 RAM Upgarde to 8 GB
The amount of RAM is not dependant on the operating system. It is all about the model of you Mac.
10.6.8 is the version of OS X that is installed on your system. It has no real baring on the amount of RAM that CAN be installed.
Personally I have never had good luck with Corsair RAM. I have always had good luck with Crucial and Kingston.

If you bought the boxed set of Logic Studio 2.0  which includes LP9, then you cannot  download it. You must use the disks that came as part of the boxed set... to install from.
If you bought the App Store version of Logic Pro 9 then go to the Mac App Store App,  Sign into the Store using the same Apple ID you used to purchase LP originally, look under the Purchase Tab and you shouldl find LP9 ready and waiting for you to download and install.

  • Logic pro 9 with akai miniak synthesizer/midi recording audio output!?

I'm using logic pro 9 with my akai miniak/midi. I know how to use the sounds/instruments in logic pro but I want to record "programs/instruments" from my miniak synthesizer keyboard. It shows that Logic receives that info but there is no audio sound when I play it back.

Midi = Data only not Audio
To record Audio from your Akai.... You need to connect audio cables from your Akai's audio outputs to Audio inputs on an audio interface connected to your Mac..

  • Logic Pro 7 with MOTU 828 or Apogee Ensemble??

I've been using Logic with MOTU's 828MKII interface for about 4 years now. Since couple of days go, the 828 keeps freezing. I had to turn unit off and turn it back on and it starts to work again, but freezes again couple seconds later. I've talked to MOTU guys and they told me to switch voltage back and forth and try again. Same thing.
I finally came to 2 option.
    1. Send the unit to MOTU and get it fixed and hope to work with it without anymore problem in the future.
    2. Get the new MOTU 828MKIII
    3. Get Apogee's Ensemble audio interface. (this one is really pricey for me)
    What do you guys think?
Should I just get 828MKii fixed or try new gears..?
    I'm a starting film/TV composer/producer and beginning to
    do quite large projects.
    My set up is
-G5 Quad PowerPC with 2.5GB RAM
-250GB main hardrive, 500GB second internal hardrive
    -Yamaha HS50M Speaker
    -Yamaha S90ES Synthesizer
    -Apple Cinema 23inch
-Running Logic Pro 7 with bunch of samples
and plug-ins in my second internal hard drive.
    Share your opinions please.
    Thanks
    Chris

Motu use to make one of the most reliable drivers in industry. If you're happy with it and can get it fixed... so why not stick with it for a while?
On the other hand the new Apogee's software seems to be really solid and Ensemble's converters are much better than MKII.
So get the 828 fixed, stick with it for a while, save some cash, buy the Ensemble, dump the old 828.
    Hope that helps

  • Logic pro 8 with akai mpc 1000!

I would like to know if I can use the drums sounds in logic with an mpc 1000. I would feel better using the pads on the machine to create a drum beat instead of a mouse. Plus it might save me time and $ to look for the drums.
    any suggestions?

I went into system preferences and put in the input to the audio interface, and the output to the headphones that I was using. Within system preferences, when I hit the pads it indicated that there were levels, however I still couldn't hear any sound.
You were in System Preferences > Sound > Input, and you were watching the meter there. Watching that meter is a good way to confirm that your MPC is producing audio, and that your audio interface is properly conveying that audio into your computer. However, the controls in this window are generally irrelevant to Logic. These controls are mostly relevant when you are working with programs like iTunes and Quicktime Player. To get audio in and out of Logic, you have to create the proper settings inside Logic. Those settings inside Logic are here: Logic Pro > Preferences > Audio > Devices > Core Audio. Look at the Device menu. This is where you have to make sure your FireWire Solo audio interface is selected. Is it?
And then attach your headphones to the FireWire Solo, not to your Mac.
Create a new project in Logic, and create an audio track, and make sure that track is record-enabled (click R in the track header). That's all you should have to do. Hit the pads on the MPC, and you should hear it in your headphones, and you should see meters lighting up in Logic.
This should work if you haven't changed any other Logic settings from their defaults. If it doesn't work, there are a few other simple things to check.
You may eventually want to create a midi connection between Logic and the MPC, and not just an audio connection. But you can worry about that later.

  • Logic Pro 8 with iMac?

I'm planning on buying a refurbished 20" 2.4 iMac, and upgrade it to 4gbs of ram. Will Logic Pro work well. I'm planning on recording up to about 35 tracks at the most. My audio interface is a Presonus Firepod. Would buying a 2.8 iMac make a big difference? Thanks in advance.
    -Ash

    Hi Ash
That should work beautifully with LP8. I designed a small studio setup for Vancouver Adapted Music Society based around the 24" version of the 2.4Ghz duo core iMac, same ram too, and it has ran great for nearly a year now with Logic Pro 8 Studio. It also has a 1Tb external firewire drive for recording and an Apogee Ensemble for an i/o. As long as you grab an external drive for recording to it should be perfect.
    Have fun!

  • LOGIC PRO 8 with motu 828mkII audio interface

I have bought a MOTU 828mkII Firewire and I am using it with a Mac Pro Intel
dual core v. 10.4.10 running Logic Pro 8.
My mixer is a Yamaha DM-1000. I have a problem with audio.
I have the mac going into the 828 via a firewire cable, then out of the 828 to
the mixer using 8 channel adat lightpipe. All devices have the same 48k sampling
rate but I can not hear a logic virtual instrument, like a piano, using the adat
lightpipe interface. If I use the analog "main outs" on the 828 I have audio,
but nothing comes thru the adat output. If I use another application besides Logic with the same setup, the adat connection works fine. This leads me to think the problem has to be in Logic and how it interfaces with the Motu 828mkII. I have read all manuals and can't figure
    out what's wrong. Any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Pierre.

Generally, outputs on audio interfaces are discreetly named. So, if your master output is set to Output 1&2, that might refer to your analog outputs. If you want to send the a different set outputs, say, a stereo pair via ADAT, you might need to send to outputs 5&6, instead of 1&2.

  • HOW TO FIX LOGIC PRO CRASHES WITH NEXUS PLUGIN ON MAC OS X 10.6.8 !! =)

After updating my Mac OS X to 10.6.8, my Logic Pro would always crash when opening a project file that uses the Nexus (version 1) plugin...
I spent hours upon hours, LONG DAYS AND NIGHTS trying to resolve the issue searching all over the internet for solutions and NOTHING helped besides the suggestion to upgrade to Nexus 2, which was not possible for me, or downgrade my OS X to 10.6.7 ...which wouldve been a very annoying procedure for me...
    SOOOOO....
I dont know why, but my instincts told me to try this solution, out of hope, and it WORKED!!
So i felt like it was my duty to help my fellow Logic Pro users/producers with this annoying problem!!

    HERE'S WHAT YOU DO:
    --GO TO APPLICATIONS
--AND SIMPLY MOVE (DRAG) THE ReFX FOLDER TO YOUR DESKTOP (OR ANY OTHER FOLDER YOU'D LIKE, AS LONG AS ITS NOT IN YOUR APPLICATIONS FOLDER)
--NOW OPEN LOGIC PRO AND TRY USING THE NEXUS PLUGIN
--IT'S GOING TO ASK YOU TO LOCATE THE "0TestTone.nxs" FILE
--NAVIGATE TO THE LOCATION ON YOUR MAC WHERE YOU MOVED THE REFX FOLDER
--OPEN THE NEXUS FOLDER / SAMPLES / ROM /
AND THERE YOU WILL FIND THE "0TestTone.nxs" FILE
--ONCE YOU APPLY THAT, TRY TESTING THE SOUNDS IN THE PLUGIN AND IT SHOULD BE WORKING FINE!
--NOW EVERYTIME YOU SAVE, AND REOPEN LOGIC YOU SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO!!
Hope this works for you like it did for me...
