Logic Pro 8 Channel Strip issue

Hi, I'm trying to get some input on an issue that I'm having. A couple of weeks ago I installed a new hard drive into my macbook and cloned over my old one...everything works great except for just one tiny detail with logic. I've reinstalled the program and it works great, but for some reason, certain channel strip settings such as acoustic snare drum 1 take about 7-8 minutes to load. The program is not crashing, it just hesitates for certain settings, while others work fine. I've verified that they are all there in the library file, and I've even run the disk permissions utility and I have all the updates. Until this HD switch everything had worked perfectly. I was just trying to see if anyone had any experience with this. Thanks!

Ok, I figured out how to re-index and I am still having the same problem.

  • Using Platinum Voicemaster Pro Vocal Channel Strip with Logic Pro & MBox 3

    Hiya,
I was wondering if you can help me please.
I have a small little home studio that I am currently building (just to record vocals mainly to instrumentals as I am singer/songwriter).
I am currently using Logic Pro 9 and MBOX Mini 3 as my midi interface but my producer who is based overseas told me to get a preamp. Many musicians have suggested I purchase Platinum Voicemaster Pro Vocal Channel Strip. CAN ANY CONFIRM WHETHER THIS WILL WORK WITH LOGIC PRO 9 AND GIVE ANY ADVICE AS TO HOW IS THE BEST WAY TO USE IT WITH LOGIC PRO 9 AND MY MBOX MINI 3?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.
    RUSHELLA

Thank you both for your input. I am back on the case again, this time with a fully functioning FCB1010. Right ou of the box the pedal does successfully send volume and pan with expression pedal a and b respectively.
What I would next like to accomplish is to have exp. ped. b now control a plug-in parameter instead, the pedal range on the fuzz-wah plug-in of Logic Pro 7 for expample.
When I use Automation Quick Access to edit the assignment of ped. b as Bryan suggested, Logic appears to be receiving the info from ped. b and creating the new assignment (as indicated in the Controller Assignments window), and yet the actual functionality doesn't change, that is, ped. b continues to control pan.
    Any suggestions?

  • Logic Pro X and Yosemite issues

It seems I have some very basic issues with Logic Pro X 10.0.7 after upgrading to Yosemite OS on my MacBook Air:
    1. Zooming the main window by swiping two fingers apart or together on the mouse pad does not work anymore.
    2. Adjusting the length of audio regions in the main window does not work anymore. It works as usual on midi tracks, but when I hover the end of an audio region the brackets just do not appear. I have now used automation to silence the bit that I wanted to shorten, but that is more of a hassle.
I have tried restarting Logic Pro X, restarting the MacBook and looked for any settings that may have been changed, but to no avail.
Do these issues sound familiar to anyone? Any thought on how to fix?

    1) Zooming
the zooming with the swipe gesture was always problematic, but it is now only happening in the Audio FIles Editor and to some extend in the Score Editor. All the other windows work fine on my machine.
    2) Resize Tool
Works fine without a problem in the Main Window and the Editor windows. Of course, you can resize in the Audio FIles Editor.
    Hope that helps

  • Logic Pro X Import Audio Issue

I justed upgraded to Logic Pro X and whenever I import any sort of audio the 1st small bit of music always gets messed up.  Please let me know how to fix this.  I have had issues importing mp3's as well as converting mp4's to audio files.  Its like there is a little hiccup in the conversion proccess for the 1st half second of music every time.
**THE AUDIO IS FINE PRIOR TO BEING IMPORTED INTO LOGIC PRO X***
Please help ASAP!!!@!@!!  I am trying hard to stick with Logic Pro X instead of 9 but find it hard when my audio is getting botched on the import proccess
    Thanks!

    I have this problem too.

  • Logic pro x native instrument issue:   the vintage B3 organ doesn't work at all!

I installed logic pro x, and the vintage B3 organ doesn't work at all! Oddest thing? Help?
Yes, the little blue power "button" is pressed in the window for the organ.
Yes, my other instruments seem to be working just fine...

OK, I solved my problem - I don't know why I didn't see the other responses on this earlier. Turns out the midi output has to be set to channel 1....

  • Logic Pro 9 Cavern kit issue

Hi. I recently downloaded LP9 from the app store. When I try to load the "cavern kit" I get an error message which says: Audio file "DNA W Ht Open m Fr.aif" not found! Any ideas? Thanks!

Have you checked to make sure the file actually exists on your system?
    You should find it inside of;
    Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Files/Cavern Kit
(Replace Macintosh HD with the name of your System drive if you didn't use the default....)
Note: This file is not located in your User Library but in the System Library found in the Root of your System HD
If it is not there then...
Did you download all additional content via the Logic Pro menu bar...  Logic Pro/Download Additional Content and made sure it all downloaded/installed correctly?
Did you try and remove GarageBand at any time? (That particular file is actually one that is instaled with Garageband.. )

  • Logic Pro X guitar recording issues

I am using a Line 6 Toneport GX to record my guitar tracks using Logic Pro X on a 2014 Retina macbook 13"
I don't know why but my volume needs to be maxed out for me to even hear any guitar signal (by pressing volume up on the keyboard) Then there's this horrendous buzzing constantly heard when i am not playing any notes.
What is the deal??? The guitar tone itself sounds terrible no matter which amp preset I am using.

  • Logic Pro 7.2 Upgrade issue/question

    Hi,
We have been a Logic Platinum user since version 4, upgrading through 5 and now to 7.2 Pro However, I have come to an issue and wondered if anyone can please help me resolve.
As I have just upgraded our platform to a Dual PPC 2.7mhz running OS/X 10.4.9, I am unable to install my original full version of logic 5 Platinum, so I can install the upgrade to 7.2
It seems my original installation disk for version 5 will not mount under OS/X, giving a system permissions error or stating no system folder available. All was fine on our old platforms under OS 9 (which we no longer own). I left the OS9 discs with the old G4s, thus I cannot load a classic OS9 environment to attempt this way either.
At the time when Apple bought out emagic, I downloaded a cross platform 5.5.0 version which was supposed to also include an OSX version but now going back to the disk i burned, it seems there is only an .exe file, which is a PC only version, no OSX file in sight.
So.... can you please advise our best route to get our original version of logic platinum 5 installed under OSX so we can install the 7.2 update or point us in the direction of the download for the 5.5.0.dmg file for OSX, which would be even better.
A little frustrated at present, as if we hadn't of skipped Version 6, this would now not be an issue. However, what's done is done and version 5 served us well until it really not being capable of what we require, thus the 7.2 upgrade.
PS, We didn't chose to upgrade to Logic 8 Studio on the basis we didn;t need half the apps' included (e.g. Stage for live performance) and also, we thought 7.2 would be slightly less resource hungry. We chose to upgrade to Dual PPC, due to the fact we use M-Audio Delta 1010s and these are not compatible with the PCI-e slots in the Intel Dual core Pros.
If you need any information, please reply and request whatever is necessary to resolve this.
I look forward to hearing back from anyone with some information to relieve our stress, as the studio is currently non functional. As we are only a small family business, any missed custom is traumatic.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Deecee3112

Hiya, thanks for the reply. I've actually resolved it. The upgrade package to 7.2 didn't need the install of version 5 to be in place at all, just the authorised XSkey.
So the 7.2 upgrade package was actually the full install less the XSkey.
I feel a bit silly now, thinking about it, why would the core audio code from version 5 be used at all in the installation of version 7! ho hum, we learn something everyday.
cheers for the reply anyway, I'm happy at the outcome and can work again.

  • Tascam 144 No Signal in Logic Pro (MacOSx10.8.4)

Just picked up a TASCAM US-144 MkII digital interface, which I'm trying to use to record an MXL 990 condenser mic into Logic Pro 9.ue
The issue is that when I go into logic, arm the record button with the US-144 selected as my input device, and hit record, logic does not pick up any signal whatsoever. Not only does logic record silence, it does not seem to be detecting any signal input from the tascam (the monitors on the left of the screen in logic that detect input and output do not respond when I sing into the microphone or play an instrument through the interface).
    The details:
-I have installed the most recent MkII specific drivers and firmware, and both are fully updated on my computer. The tascam app seems to confirm this to me.
-I have gone into Logic Preferences > Audio and set input device to US-144 MkII.
-The channel strip I am using in logic was created as an 'Audio' channel, not MIDI or software instrument.
-When I unplug the tascam while logic is open, it says 'input device removed', so Logic seems to be detecting the interface.
-When I plug headphones into the tascam headphone jack, everything works properly and I can hear both guitars and microphones played through the device, so I believe the tascam is working fine. Again, I have tried this with both guitar line in and with different microphones, so I don't think there's a problem with the mic cable or microphone I am using.
-In my computer's System Preferences > Sound, the computer detects the tascam as a sound input device and the input levels are sensitive to sound played into the device (that is, the input level detector peaks when I sing into the microphone or play an instrument into the tascam), so my computer is receiving input from the tascam and it is unlikely the USB cable I am using to connect the interface is defective.
-I have exactly the same problem when trying to record in Garage Band, where the program seems to be unable to detect any signal from the tascam. Therefore it seems to be a problem with my configuring the tascam/logic and not with the actual software I am using.
-I have been able to record without problems in the same versions of Garage Band and Logic using other interfaces.
All software is updated, I get clear sound from the tascam, both my computer and logic can detect the device and appear to be receiving signal from it, and it's unlikely to be a problem with my cables or equipment. What could I possibly be missing??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its fine again now.. Think it was because we had set the audio tracks to no input..

  • Duplicate Output channel strips

I see a thread about duplicate aux channels appearing. I'm not seeing that on my end, but what I am getting is multiple (and it's more than two now) Output channel strips. Thankfully, they only appear at the concert level, and don't appear more than once in each patch or set. But the behavior is really bizzare, and a little worrisome because i've found that if I try to delete one of them, if I can successfully do it, then the file will become corrupted and will never reopen! When I'm at the concert level, if I adjust any of the controls on one of them, it's adjusted for all of them... very strange indeed.
I've created multiple Concert files, and I see this behavior exhibited in all of them. The more patches I add, the more the number seems to grow. I believe that every time I copy/paste a patch, it adds one, but I'm not sure exactly what the exact criteria are to make this happen. Is anyone else seeing this?
Also, I have two unrelated questions:
    1) There isn't, by any chance, a way of creating alias or shortcut patches, is there? Some way of creating duplicates so I can create multiple sets with some of the same patches (I'd like to create some "Show Setlist" sets, and a main "All Tracks" set, but have some of the same patches in each, that would get modified when I modify any instance).
    2) I'm coming from Jambalaya, a similar, and simpler live host that I would continue to be using today if the developer continued supporting it. One thing that was really nice about that was it had a virtual rack where you could store common instruments and effects. It would be accessible to all "songs" (patches), and would save a major amount of load time. Since every one of my patches contains from 2 - 8 instrument channels, it was really helpful. I don't suppose there is any way to reproduce this functionality in MS? I also use this feature in Digital Performer, but I don't use that as a live host. So far, I've noticed that if you add a channel strip at the concert level, it plays back on all patches without any routing or way of arming it or not, so that won't work for me. I guess this is more a feature request than a question, but I'm new enough to MS that maybe someone has found a way.

I haven't experienced any of the channel strip issues, at the concert level or at patch level. It's easy to copy patches or make aliases. To copy a patch, select a patch, go to edit>copy or command>C. To paste, edit>paste or paste as alias(command>V or option-command>V).

  • Reason 8.1 will not ReWire slave to Logic Pro X? Anyone else experiencing this?

    Hi folks,
I'm running the latest version of Logic Pro X (10.1.1) and the latest version of Reason (8.1) on a brand-new Retina iMac running Yosemite (10.10.1).
Prior to this, I was running Reason 6.5.3 and I also have a copy of Ableton Live 9.1.7. (On the same brand-new iMac, to be clear.)
    Here's the problem:
Old Reason (6.5.3) would enter ReWire Slave Mode with Logic Pro X with zero issue. Same goes for Live 9.1.7. But once I upgraded to Reason 8.1, it won't do it anymore. I'm doing the obvious things:
-I open Logic first, before Reason
-I've made sure that CoreAudio and ReWire are turned on in Logic's Audio Preferences pane (I've also tried toggling both on/off)
-I've made sure that both programs are running 64-bit (although I did try running Reason in 32 as an experiment)
-I've downloaded and reinstalled the latest version of ReWire (1.7, I believe -- might be remembering that version number incorrectly)
-I've tried all of this with and without my Reason Ignition Key in a USB slot
No matter what I try, though, Reason never slaves itself.
It WILL slave itself to Ableton Live, though. So, to be clear:
    -Live will slave to Logic
    -Reason will slave to Live
-Reason will NOT slave to Logic
Am I overlooking something really silly here? I'd love to find an answer to this question so I can get back to my usual workflow ASAP!
Thanks very much for your help. I really appreciate it.
    Cheers,
    Adam

    Hey Adam,
I am also having rewire problems with Reason 8.1 into Logic 10.1.1 and as you experience it's not with Reason into Ableton or Ableton into Logic (although Ableton has crashed a few times this way). Everything worked fine for me up until I downloaded the latest Logic download last week.
Is your Reason loading up as normal in stand alone mode? For me, Rewire either works perfectly (10% of the time) or I get the error message 'Engine not responding. Please check your Rewire host'. I have tried reinstalling Logic and have checked lots of forums but cannot find any concrete answers.
It's kinda driving me crazy as I'm in the middle of a project so would like to get it sorted asap! Let me know if you find anything! M

  • Logic Pro 9 - MOTU MK II inputs not available in channel strip

I usually use a MOTU 24 i/o as my main Logic Pro 9.1.5  audio interface. I'm trying to use a MOTU MK II and it is connected via firewire. It shows up fine in the Logic > Audio > core audio driver preference and is checked on. However the MKII in/outs are not available on Logic's channel strip inputs and outputs. Logic still shows the 24 i/o's even though the 24 i/o is not selected in audio preferences and is not even turned on.
I've reinstalled the latest MOTU drivers, trashed Logic's preferences and restarted my MacPro but it is still the same. Only the 24 i/o available in the channel strip input and output.
Is there a second audio i/o setting that I'm missing?
My Mic is registering OK in the MKII so I know it is getting a signal.
    Thanks,
    Richard

For some reason Logic is listing the 24 i/o inputs.
I've renamed the 828 Mk2 1 & 2  inputs to Vox 1 and Vox 2.  The MK2 has 8 analog inputs plus two mic/line inputs for a total of ten audio inputs, not 14 as listed in the channel strip input drop down.
Audio registers in and out of the Mk2 but does not register in Logic's channel strip input. I just switched back to the 24 i/o to test and audio registers fine in Logic's channel strip input with the 24 i/o. Just not with the MK2 selected as the audio source.
I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem or if I'm missing an audio input setting somewhere.
    Thanks,
    Richard

  • Restore Channel Strips in Logic Pro (9.1.8)

    Hi all,
i´ve accidentally erased a channel strip setting (yeah I know, shouldn't have done this...). It is one of presets Large Spaces - Clean Room.
(IMO this is some stupid option. The descriptions sounds like deleting the setting from the song and not out of the library. Anyway.)
I am not able to set Logic Pro to the origin defaults; I reinstalled Logic, after deleting it completely and erasing all config files manually. But it does not make any changes to the library. The channel strip setting is gone.
I CAN find the file on the HD (~/library/application support/ logic/channel strip settings) that means the cst-file, but there seems no way to import it, right?
How can I restore the original channel strip setting library?
BTW: I have the new iMac without any DVD drive; so installed Logic Pro via AppStore.
Hope someone can help... thank you!
    Dan

    Hi
If I understand you correctly, you have deleted the Channel Strip "Clean Room", but you have a 'spare copy' in
    <User> Library:Application Support:Logic:Channel Strip Settings?

    IF this is the right Setting, it should already show up in the Library, provided that it is placed in the correct (Bus) sub-folder. You could always copy/move it to the correct location for the Factory files;
    Library:Application Support:Logic:Channel Strip Settings:Bus
If this is not the correct Setting File, perhaps you have used it in another project, such that you could re-save it?

  • A problem with channel strip outputs in Logic Pro 8

I have a Power Mac G5 2.3GHz dual core processor with 2GB memory, running LogicPro 8 connected to a MOTU 2408 Mk3. I originally assigned the outputs on the individual channel strips on my Logic default work page to the individual outputs on the MOTU, (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.,) as this is the optimum configuration for the amount of channels required for the recording I do. Checking theses settings recently though, I find the menu only gives the option to set outputs to 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 & 7-8? What has happened and how can I change them back?
    Thanks

Sounds like your channel strips are stereo and not mono.
Click on the little linked circle button (format button) in the bottom of the channel strip to set it's mode to MONO (single circle).
If you have effect plugins inserted on the channel strip make sure they are mono and not stereo. (Click and hold on the effect on the insert slot and choose the mono instance of the plugin from the plugin menu).
    Hope that helps
