Logic Pro 8 PPC Songfiles on Intel Macs?

Dear fellow board members,
did anyone experiance problems with a Logic 8 Song file, that was created and saved with Logic 8 on a PPC-Mac, and which has then been opened on Logic 8 on an Intel-Mac? Would I be save to create my Logic 8 Autoload Song (With Plug-Ins, Instruments, Busses, Aux', etc.) on my G5 PPC now, and later import it to a MacPro, when I would switch to an Intel MacPro?
I would be happy if you want to share your ideas or experiances!
Best,
Vic

  • Trying to load pre-2006 lso files into Logic 8 on my new intel Mac Pro

I'm trying to load pre-2006 lso files into Logic 8 on my new intel Mac Pro, but they crash the app every time. files saved 2006 and later load OK. Anybody shed any light on this or know of a fix (other than the laborious work-around of re-saving all early lso's in logic 8 on the PPC and physically moving them via a portable drive to the new machine)?
(BTW, those files also crash the Logic 7 installed on the intel Mac.)

Upon further work with my migration, I find I was incorrect in the time frame assertion of these failed files: apparently, the creation/modification dates have nothing to do with it and the reality is that some files fail at random, while others load just fine. right now it looks to be about 50/50 Beats me why this is.
Anyway, for those interested, I've discovered a very helpful key to the quick processing of file data for a plethora of files (i. e. re-saving the "bad" lso files as Logic 8 projects on the older CPU and moving them over to my new machine), and that is the 'control key/launch' of the app. I hadn't realized that Apple had added this feature to Logic to enable easier work on multiple song files when one does not require the audio.
For those who don't know about it, the 'control key/launch' provides an option to disable the core audio at app start-up, thus allowing files to load instantly without loading the plug-in library files associated with tracks - great for copying MIDI data between song files, or in this case, re-saving a batch.
Still puzzled, though, as to why so many older lso files crash Logic when they attempt to load on my new CPU.

  • Will logic pro x run on my mac mini dual core intel i5 with 4gb of ram and mountain lion ?

    hi there guys,
will logic pro x run on my mac mini dual core intel i5 with 4gb of ram and mountain lion ?
I'm not sure if my machine is 64 bit - it is the current model base mac mini.
Many thanks for any help you can offer !
    Simon

SkiJumptoes is right. 4GB is not enough to comfortably run Logic X.
Your Mac Mini will need DDR3 SODIMM RAM. That website seems incredibly steep though. I guess that's the price of finding it for you. You're better off going to any below:

  • Opening PPC songs on Intel macs

    Hi everyone,
anyone had problems when opening PPC songs on Intel macs? specialy large music scores causes intel logic to crash...
    best.
    intel imac 20   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2Gb RAM
    Powerbook 17 1.33 G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1Gb RAM

hi andre, look up this topic here. justin c, has written about it, i think.
he recommends "rebuilding your autoload" for starters.
if these songs crash logic, you might have to do a fresh autoload and import all the files and start from scratch. bad, i know.
file corruption seems to be at the bottom of it all.
i have trouble just editing something in 7.2, and then running it in 7.1.1.! and i'm using the same mac for both.

  • LOGIC PRO 7.1 & the Intel Core Duo?

I'm currently running OSX 10.3.9 on a G4. I've got the student version of logic pro 7.1
I'm about to upgrade my computer and I'm thinking about the Intel Core Duo Mac. Will the Pro Logic 7.1 run on that?
I've heard there's an upgrade available for 7.1 users. Does the student version qualify if you're planning to buy a Intel Core Duo Mac?
Thanks to anyone with answers to these questions...

    Thanks for your reply...
Just curious, does the name tele_player indicate your choice of guitar? I play a Strat and an Ovation 12-string. Looking forward to having an easier time with Logic when I move up to a faster Mac.

  • Why won't Logic Pro 9 run on my Mac running OSx?

When launching program get message "You can't run this version of the application Logic Pro with this version of Mac OS X. You have Logic Pro 9.0.0."
And yet Mainstage, bundled with Logic Pro 9.0, will run.
Is there an update or upgrade I need to purchase in order to run this VERY expensive program?
Is this problem related to the fact that I originally purchased the Logic Express and then the Pro upgrade?
I ran this program on my Macbook Pro unti lit finally died after 6 years of hard use.
    Help?!?!

    Hi
Logic 9.0.0 will not run under Lion. You need to run Software update, or go download the necesssary updateers directly from Apple Support.
Note that, for the updaters to work, the Logic Application *MUST* be a) in your Applications folder, and not in any sub-folder, and b) it must be named "Logic Pro" without any numbers or spaces after the name.

HI, If i have logic pro 9 installed on my mac book, how much is it to upgrade to Logic x?

    Hi
It will cost the same as if you did not have Logic 9: there is no upgrade price.
Simply purchase LPX from the AppStore

  • Logic Pro x installing into multiple macs

By purchasing Logic Pro x, How many different macs can you load it up to?
I have 2 Mac book pros and one IMac .  Does purchasing the Logic Pro x once load it into all of my macs?

If you purchase Logic Pro X, you can install it in all your Macs as many times as you want for free.
After purchasing it, it will appear in Purchases, so in your other Macs you just have to open the Mac App Store, go to Purchases and download Logic Pro X

    Hi Richard Gl ,
Welcome to the Apple Support Community!
I understand that your Logic Remote is not connecting. In this situation I suggest reading over the attached information and making sure that Logic Remote is set up correctly. I would also suggest trying to connect using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

  • Logic pro 8 onto a new mac book pro

I have just bought a new Mac book pro and am in the process of putting Logic pro onto it. I have the original Logic Pro 8 with the logic 9 upgrade. The macbook pro wont let me load logic 8 as it is saying that "powerPc applications are no longer supported" Thats kinda irritating. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get this loaded so I can then load my 9 upgrade?
    Thanks
    Ben

Just so there's no confusion... Logic became Intel compatible at version 7.2. Any version of Logic 8 is Intel compatible, that is, Logic 8 can run on the newer operating systems... however, part of the Install routines are PPC and need the "Rosetta" PPC emulation code... as of OSX Lion there is no support for Rosetta so Logic 8 will not install by traditional means. There are workarounds posted on the Web, if you can get Logic 8 on the new machine chances are it will run. Now... depending on the version of Logic 9 you have, (9.0, 9.01, 9.02) all used the same type of PPC compatible install you you might have to jump through hoops twice.
Might be easiest to fork over $199 and purchase the app store version.
Doesn't seem right to me either but the way of Mac is to drain your financial resources as much as possible.

  • New Mac Book Pro & Logic Pro vs New 8 Core Mac

I think this question may have been answered. a question, but here goes anyway. I am using a new Macbook Pro duel core and running Logic Pro on it. I get "system overload" every time I start playback on multiple tracks. Then if I restart the playback it runs pretty well. My question is, if I was using the new 8 core big Mac would I be running smooth with no hiccups or overload conditions? Even though my Macbook Pro is new, is it the wrong machine for running Logic Pro? I have 2GB of Ram. I also run Pro Tools LE 7.4 with a 002 Digi Surface Controller with no problems.
    Advice please?

The "system overload" warnings have plagued all systems, regardless of how many cores are present: PowerPC:s, Intels, Tigers and Leopards..

  • Final Cut Pro 5.1 on Intel Mac Pro

    Hi,
I have been running successfully Final Cut Pro 5.1 on my intel Mac Pro.
Suddenly it stopped working. While opening, it suddenly quit. Tried to fully uninstall Final Cut following Apple HOWTO and reinstall. Unfortunately, Final Cut is still not working.
I have read lots a various messages and no-one seems to have a 100% success rate.
    Anyone has a suggestion?
    Cheers
    Ben

someone posted something on Craigslist about the intel Macs and he said that the intel just freezes up with FCP and some other programs
Older versions of FCP do NOT run well on IntelMacs because they were written to run on PPC chipped Macs only. Probably the situation you read about on Craigslist. The OP here is running the universal version of FCP so that shouldn't be an issue in this case.

  • Going from a PPC to an Intel Mac

Will OS 10.8 Mountain Lion support PPC apps (those I've been running on OS 10.3 up to 10.5.8 Leopard)? I think they will run also on OS 10.6 Snow Leopard, but can't confirm until I have an Intel Mac (needed to run OS 10.6). If OS 10.8 will not support them, will OS 10.7 Lion? I Know that 10.9 Maverick will not.

    Thanks, Lyssa for your reply
A good portion of the software you're running probably has an Intel-compatible version at this point.
That's true, except for one really important CAD app I need. My CAD app (Canvas X) was no longer upgraded for Mac starting about 2007. It has been upgraded only for Windows. I think this is about the same time that Mac completed its switch from PPC to Intel, which most likely explains the unwillingness of my CAD company to upgrade. I'm reluctant to attempt running a Windows CAD app on a Mac, using Bootcamp or Parallels.
Much better I think is to get the latest MacBook that will run OS 10.6
Try running Canvas X in Snow Leopard Server installed into Parallels for use in Mavericks.
Here is Adobe CS2 Photoshop (PowerPC) running in SLS in Parallels:
