Logic Pro 9 cannot be installed on Maverick?

Hi,
I just bought an iMac27 and tried to install Logic Pro 9 which I bought many years ago.
After spending a couple of hours installing, at the endm, it said Logic 9.0.0 cannot be used with this version of OS X.
What options do I have?
Do I need to buy the latest Logic Pro again? Can I trade in the old one and update?
I hope not to spend more money again...
Please let me know any solutions.
Thank you very much.

Cannot get Logic Pro 9 to finish install from app store.  Application iinstalls but wants to download 2 Gb extras.  When download is finished Logic 9 will not open.  When i reopen Logic it restarts the already finished download.  HELP!

How is this drive formatted? What's on it? How are you opening Logic: by doubleclicking the app or by doubleclicking a project? What project was it supposed to open? have you tried starting Logic by doubleclicking a different project?

  • Logic Pro X complications when installing Maverick

I installed Maverick which was a mistake. It seems to have caused more problems than anything else.
Anyhow, my biggest problem is that when i went to open Logic Pro X it started downloading the essential library. Once it finished downloading the essential library it says that it is installing it but it does not do anything. I waited for 3 hours and nothing happened. I restarted and did the same thing and it was stuck saying that it was installing again.
Any ideas how to fix this?

  • Logic Pro 8 won't install on my new Lion Mac! What can I do about it?!!?

Last week I bought a brand spanking new Macbook Pro that I was very chuffed with and runs OSX 10.7.2 (Lion). But now that I have got round to installing my music software, I have found that Logic Studio 8 will not work at all. My old Mac ran 10.5 (Leopard) and apparently the new Lion OSX "..no longer supports PowerPC based applications."
I had no intention of upgrading to Logic 9 but thought I probably would if it was reasonably priced, however, I can't find anywhere online that sells a Logic 8 to 9 upgrade (it appears to have been discontineud) and the full version is over £400! I can't speak to anyone from apple till next week as its Christmas.
    I want to know:
    A. if there is any way of getting Logic 8 to work on Lion (please don't say to get an OSX update as I have the latest 10.7.2 and it definitely doesn't work)
    B. if there is anyway to upgrade to the full Logic Pro 9 (including MainStage 2, Soundtrack Pro 3, 40 software instrument plug-ins, over 80 effect plug-ins,        WaveBurner 1.6, Compressor 3.5, Impulse Response Utility, Apple Loops Utility, QuickTime 7 Pro) for a fraction of the full price.
    C. if anyone else has had the same problem and how it was resolved (e.g. did Apple offer you Logic Pro 9 for free/significantly reduced cost?).
Advanced thanks to anyone who can shed some light (and hopefully good news) on this most distressing subject!!

The general consensus is that LP8 won't run on Lion - as you know. This has been discussed here so try a search.
Otherwise, Apple just released Logic in the app store for I think £129 or something so it's not that much to buy now. I'm not sure if they're offering an upgrade path which is cheaper, but check the app store.

  • Can't install Logic Studio 9 on clean install of Mavericks due to "powerpc applications not supported" error message

    Hello -
I've recently performed a clean install of Mavericks on my MBP.  I then attempted to install Logic Studio but was met with the error message "You can't open the application "LogicStudio.mpkg" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."  Mavericks was installed as an upgrade prior to the clean install, and at that time Logic Studio functioned normally.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Logic 9 or 8?
There is a bug in the installer program of Logic that makes Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks think that it is PowerPC.
Best solution would have been to install Logic BEFORE you upgraded to Mavericks, but before you backup, wipe and start all over, try to use Pacifist to install it and please report back.

  • Logic Pro X - Cannot see multiple input options

    Hello,
I've been using other DAWs(DP and Studio One 2) but I decided to try Logic Pro X and purchased it yesterday.
I'm using a firewire audio interface which has multiple input options. For example, Ch1 and Ch2 are for mic inputs, ch3 and ch4 are for my external sound module (Yamaha Motif Rack), etc.
I tried to play and record the sound module on Logic, I first added "New External Midi Track". Then, I added "New Audio Track" to record the sound of sound module, like I do on other DAWs. I tried to select the ch 3-4 as an input for the audio track, however I could only see the input ch1-2 as an option for the track.
The audio interface's driver is installed correctly. In fact, I can use the input ch 3-4 with no problem on other DAWs.
Since I'm new to Logic Pro, I might have overlooked how to assign / setup the inputs.
Can anybody let me know how I can activate input ch3-4 on Logic Pro X?
    Thanks in advance.
    -Holly

Yeah, after I wrote the post, I found out that this happened because "built-in input" was chosen as a default input source on "Preferences -> Audio". That's why it only showed ch1-2. Now I chose my audio interface as the default input and I could see other channels.
That's good, however this brought up a new question, if I want to use multiple input options such as two audio interfaces or combination of built-in input and an audio interface, is it possible to do so?

  • Logic Pro 9 cannot set up external midi (Roland Juno G)

I am using Logic Pro 9 and can't seem to set up the external midi. I have a Roland Juno G which is working as a midi controller perfectly but I cannot send sound within the keyboard to Logic. I have set up everything on the keyboard side but I'm having difficulty setting it up in Logic. I don't want to just use it as a midi controller as I want to use some of the internal sounds as well. • Logic Pro 8... not with Mavericks !

Logic Pro 8 gets all black, behind the playhead.
Before, on Lion 10.7.5, it was working fine.
Now, on Mavericks, it is **** !
Mavericks was free... but now I will have to spend $200.00 on Logic Pro X.
I should have stayed with the old system.

You can try reverting to 10.7.5.
Revert to a Previous OS X
Revert to former OS from Mavericks

  • Lost Logic Pro Serial Number and Install Disks, can they be replaced?

I accidentally threw out my install disks and manuals (including the booklet with the serial number) for Logic Pro 8! I believe have registered this product. I think I can simply download the installation files but I will need the SN#. Is my serial number linked to my apple account? Can I find this online somewhere?
I also use pro tools and there is a special section on the website just for this type of thing. I am hoping there is the same kind of thing with apple but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
    Thanks in advance for your ultimate awesomeness in helping resolve this issue for me and the rest of the idiots :}

Have you searched this forum? The question comes up every three or four days.
You can call up Apple and provide them with valid proof of purchase, and they will provide you with a new code.
They'll probably send you disks as well, for a fee.
I severely doubt that an official download is an option, as the whole package is somewhere around 45GB.

  • Logic pro 9 won't install final disc additional Content. it keeps ejecting it and not reading. it reads all other discs in the install except for this one. How do i fix this solution? Disc looks brand new.

For some reason when ever the last disc is up to install, it will not read. Macbook pro will eject this disc only not the others. Please help me fix?

    Mr. Willener,
    Thank you for your reply.
I did un-install and then re-install per the Adobe recommendations which are what you listed in your reply.  The problem remained until I did a MS Windows restore to a restore point a month or so ago.  The IE problems vanished.  However, now I'm using an outdated and unsupported version that is lower than most of the web pages require for their sites, at least the ones I want to view (they all say I need to upgrade my Flash Player which, when I did, put me in this fix).
    As to:

it requires a...... 2.33 Ghz processor!
You can safely ignore that requirement; it is simply not true.
Why would Adobe post a system requirement of 2.33 Ghz for 11.2 if it simply were not true?

  • Logic Pro 9 won't install. Please help!

I downloaded Logic 9.1.7 from the App Store.
When I try to install it, here's what happens:
    1. It downloads the 2.0 GB of Basic Content
    2. When it's finished downloading, it asks me for my admin password so that it can install
    3. It appears to install for a couple of seconds, then suddenly, the installer bar jumps to 100% and the program closes
    4. I run Logic, hoping that the app will run, but I am greeted by step 1 again
    5. The cycle continues!
This is driving me crazy. I have a brand new Mac, with a fresh install of Lion, yet this is happening.
    Can someone please help me?
Otherwise, does anyone know how to get money back from App Store purchases that don't work?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Eoin

Sounds like a faulty/corrupted download, you will have to delete the Logic App from you hard drive and re-download, hopefully it's only the Logic Application you have to delete and not some of the scattered install files.
You are not the only one to have this happen to them, there have been many that either have your exact problem or are missing instrument/sample files after downloading the whole package.
You might want to call Apple and file a complaint, there's been way too many problems with Apple "download" installations. Sounds like you're not too happy with the arrangement.. Be prepared, the extra instruments and samples are 20+ gigabytes of data. Seems like Apple should offer some of their large packages on DVD.
In general, Apple customers are way too forgiving of the company, imo.

  • Logic pro 7 cannot import 32 bit file

i was trying to import a 32 bit audio file but logic cannot read it and cannot play it.
this is weird because in cubase and protools i can do it.
is there any way i can do it in logic.
if not please apple make it happen its basic.

bob hunt explains a little about developments and reasons for some of logics limitations. if logic had been developed from the ground up then we would be better able to complain about some weird limitations. but logic is deep - really deep. i think some of these limitations are to do with inhereting a vast and complex programme. as it says in the report, they have to balance commercial needs (ie new features) and engineering "challenges" and stability. sounds like there are trade offs, and this makes sense.
i don't think we'll have too long to wait before logic will support 32 bit.
personally it hink there are much higher prorities than 32 bit support if 32 bit support meant a complete redesign of the audio engine.
