Logic Pro 9 will not Host BFD Eco?

BFD Eco works fine as a Stand alone in my Computer. BFD Eco even shows up in Logic Pro's Audio Units Manager. The box next to BFD is checked and shows as validated. Then after selecting BFD Eco I press the (reset and rescan seletion) button. But Logic Pro still won't recogonize BFD Eco.
Any advice?

What version did you have installed initially and what version did they tell you to update to?
Are you absolutely sure you are looking in the right place for the BFD Eco Software instrument in Logic? If it shows up as validated in the AU Plugin manager then it is quite odd that it would not show uop in the Software Instrument list. It may not open when you click on it, but it should show up there... at the very least
You know you are looking in the right place if you can also see the various Software instruments (Not FX..) that are included with Logic such as EXS 24... Can you see the EXS 24 Software Intrument when you go to find the BFD Eco Software instrument?  if you cannot see the EXS 24 what can you see when you press and hold the Software Instrument button?
Sorry if this seems so obvious a thing to ask and check on hut you wouldn't believe how many times users get this wrong..... They are either incorrectly looking in the Insert/FX section, they haven't created a Software Instrument track but an Audio or EXt Midi track instead.. or they are clicking on the button above the EQ display... or some other odd thing to do... hence my double check with you.
I can tell you, from a chat i had with one of my clients earlier this evening, that Eco works fine in Logic 9.1.8 so it has to be something you haven't done (like installing the correct update although he did confirm that the basic 1.5 update worked fine with 10.6.8 and 9.1.5...) or have done, like pressing the wrong button or looking in the wrong place!

  • Logic pro 8 will not close in snow leopard

I have a quad core intel mac pro and have just installed Snow loepard, now when I run logic pro 8 I can not close it down (Logic pro 8) I have to force quit every time I finnish. Does anyone know if this can be fixed? (latest version of SL and LP8)

    Hey Karl,
    Not a problem!
Ah, I was hoping we'd finally find that there was something common that was causing this issue! I noticed that none of the AU instruments you are using are the ones I use, so it doesn't seem that this issue is related to any of those (I only use BFD2, Melodyne and Ozone)...
I am keeping my fingers crossed that now I've unticked the "backup to MobileMe" box, it will continue to allow a proper quit over the next few days! (Sometimes things seem to be fixed and then the next day the issue returns...!)
Let me know if you do get closer to a solution. I am using Logic 9, not 8, but the issue started when I moved to Snow Leopard 10.6.1 (I'm pretty sure... it was definitely some time after getting 10.6) and I believe we are having the same problem despite different versions of Logic.
    Cheers,
    Mike

It does help as it might explain what has gone wrong with your upgrade...
Unfortunately there is no easy solution for this problem.. I have seen it several times in the past with my clients...  and in reality, the only real fix is to start from scratch with Mountain Lion as i describe in this thread....

I know it is a huge pain in the butt.... but apart from going back to Snow Leopard and using Logic Pro 9.1.8 with that (Which you can do if you made full backups before you upgraded) this method is really your only solution I'm afraid to say.... as it seems your upgrade 'screwed the pooch' so to speak....

Cannot get Logic Pro 9 to finish install from app store.  Application iinstalls but wants to download 2 Gb extras.  When download is finished Logic 9 will not open.  When i reopen Logic it restarts the already finished download.  HELP!

  • MacBook Pro running Logic Pro 9 will not connect to iPad

MacBook is running Yosemite, downloaded last night. iPad is running iOS 8.1.2, updated yesterday. Logic Pro 9 version is 9.1.8. Logic Remote is version 1.1.1, also downloaded yesterday.
I've tried pairing the devices by Bluetooth as well as logging them onto 2 different WiFi networks.
Firewall on the MacBook is turned off.
I've tried deleting com.apple.logic.pro.cs and then restarting the MacBook.
Still, every single time I start Logic Remote, I get the message "No Mac running Logic, GarageBand or MainStage was found".
Is there anything else I can try or do these machines / apps simply not work together?

    Hi
Logic Remote only works with LPX? Try using TouchOSC instead

  • Logic Pro 9 will not find some EXS instruments

I recently updated to Logic Pro 9.1.0, and today tried to load a project I've been working on for a few weeks (prior to the update), only to be greeted by the message "EXS24 Instrument 'Name.exs' not found."
A few sites have suggested re-indexing my Spotlight and restarted, and I have tried that to no avail. I also tried setting the EXS options to "All Drives". What's strange is that some instruments are loaded, but others are not. If I search for the filename using Spotlight, I can see they are located on the drive where they always have been.
What's potentially unusual about my installation is that I have a symlink at "/Library/Application Support/Logic" pointed at one of the other internal drives where I store all my Logic data. This has always worked before, and I don't really have enough space on the boot drive to put all of Logic's samples in /Library.
Does anyone have any clues how I could get my project loading again?

one shouldn't move installed content from the default places
It's not that so much, it's that you must understand Logic's behaviour in how, why and what to move, as it varies depend on the content.
I for one have used symlinks with Logic (and other apps, too) for years without a hitch until v9.1.
As I've said - for some of Logic's content this always used to work fine. For others, it *does not work*. I'm not going to list all the various types of content and paths that don't work with symlinks, but it's enough, trust me.
There are several reasons why one would have content elsewhere even without such novel application as Dropbox makes possible, for instance harddrive space and simply organization.
Of course. I'm not saying there isn't. I'm simply that that in some cases, Logic does not make this easy, and it's a bit of an unsupported hack in some cases. For other content, such as samples, Logic has always been designed to be flexible and there aren't many problems moving it or aliasing/symlinking it.
Personally I have all the factory content on the system disk in the default location these days, but I prefer to have the user content elsewhere.
Me too. And I've invested some time in understanding what can and can't be moved, what works and what doesn't, and have set up my system according to this and to my needs.
It is absolutely aggrevating for Apple to overlook such a thing, or a fix to take so long
    Sure.
to read on a forum "just don't do it like that if it doesn't work"
Sure. but these help forums are to get people going, not to endlessly wallow and moan about why it doesn't currently work the way I want it to. I can moan with the rest of them, but I mostly choose to deal with it in the best way I can for the time being and revisit it if the situation should change in the future.
I'm not a coder, but based on what I've read on forums and asked a couple of coder friends, this shouldn't be the most complicated matter to make work. Many of them have suggested that it's probably only an overlooked thing in the API change, not a huge ordeal.
Yes, probably so, however sometimes things that seem simple on the outside aren't always trivial to implement.
All you can do in the meantime, is report the behaviour, and set up your system the best you can to work in a practical way. If this is impossible, revert to an older version, and hope that a future version changes the behaviour.
But I don't recommend leaving things broken and expecting it to be fixed imminently, because this may not be the case.

  • Logic Pro 9 WILL NOT recognise EZdrummer in Audio Units Manager, HELP??

I recently purchased and installed Toontrack's EZdrummer plug-in to work inside Logic Pro.
However, after a week of trying, I for some bizarre reason cannot get Logic to recognize the plug-in/vst.
All week i've conquered the internet looking for solutions but sadly nothing has helped, i've tried everything from trashing cache files to rescanning audio units to manually moving files...STILL NOTHING!
This problem has annoyed many people as I scroll effortlessly down Google looking at other peoples quetions and responses, yet nothing works for me. PLEASE SOMEBODY KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS!

    Basic Troubleshooting steps...
First of all Logic Pro cannot use VSTs.. It uses AudioUnit (AU) Plugins..
Have you checked the AU Manager (Found under the Logic Pro menu item...)  to see if it installed and validated correctly
If it is not there, it did not install correctly in which case reinstall or failing that contact ToonTracks for assistance.
If it is there but not validated, select it and manually recscan it to validate it. If it fails to validated again contact ToonTracks..
if it is there and validated,
When you start a new project in Logic and create a Software Instrument track.. and then you press and hold the Software Instrument button in the track strip.. do you see the ToonTracks entry? (along with all the Logic Pro's plugins and other 3rd party AU Plugins you may have installed)
The Software Instrument button  is located as shown in this screenshot..

  • Logic Pro 9 Will Not Show Video

When I import a video to Logic, the video does not show up on the video track nor on the top left of the project. Although the movie tab shows up, there's no film. If I double click the video track, it asks me to look for the video (finding it again doesn't work). Now this only seems to happen with mp4 files. Mov files show up, but the screen is white and there's still no video (but there is sound). It also shows up on the video track, but the track is blank.
Note: I've never had any of these problems before, but I recently just did a clean install of Snow Leopard and did a transfer of apps and files from a Yosemite drive, which then the problem occurred. I've tried possible fixes like reinstalling Logic 9 and deleting the preferences file in /Library, but the problem still stands. Is there any possible fix to this problem I'm missing? Could it be a QuickTime problem maybe? I tried videos that worked before this problem but now they don't.

This is most likely the source of your problem.
Best bet would be to reinstall the OS from scratch, without transferring any Apps etc from the other drive

  • Logic Pro 9 will not start in Mountain Lion

I have gotten so much great info here, that I thought this would be the best place to ask my question. I am using a Mac Pro 3, 1 (early 2008). I bought the machine running Leopard, upgraded to Snow Leopard, lion, and Mountain lion with no problems. I have a valid license for logic studio eight and nine. Logic ran without problems… Until I upgraded to Mavericks. After upgrading, my computer started acting terribly. It was much slower, and I would get these terrible freezes where the screen would go kind of crazy flashing colors and stop working completely.
After thinking it was my graphics card, and not wanting to spend $1 million on a new video card, I decided to try downgrading back to Mountain lion.
First, I cleaned off the system drive, and installed mountain lion fresh from a USB drive. The crashing went away and the computer ran much faster and smoother.
However, after reinstalling logic, I am no longer able to start it. As soon as I click on the icon either through Finder or a dock menu, it crashes almost immediately. It has never gotten to or through the part where it scans the plug-ins or anything. I tried to understand the report it generates, and understand the things that it is trying to tell me, but cannot make any sense out of what it is actually saying happened. I have updated the app as well. I am currently at 9.1.8.
I don't know why this is happening, and don't know what the best next step should be. I already have everything moved out of the way if I need to do another fresh install. I was thinking to try a fresh install on a clean drive of Mavericks, and see if anything changes. Also, when I would try to change logic to start in 64-bit mode, there would be no option in the "get info" window to select or deselect 32-bit mode. It simply wasn't there.
I can post specs/logs/error reports of course, but don't even know where to start. Does anybody have any experience with this? Does anybody have a suggestion for where to start? Do I need to get Logic X? (Logic was running fine in Mountain Lion before) I have scoured the Internet trying to find someone with similar issues, but haven't found anything that works. All I have really tried is reinstalling both the OS and the app. Everything else works great in Mountain lion. I still have my Snow Leopard disks if you think going all the way back there would be the best option. My OS is running in 64-bit mode, but when logic does try to start, it says 32-bit mode in the little start up window.
I'm totally comfortable with Terminal, Console, etc, so can provide any info if anybody thinks they may be able to direct me towards a solution.
Thanks for reading and thanks for any help or advice.

    kcstudio
Must be my chipset then, although another Mainstage board told me otherwise. (that it was the OS)
When I upgraded my Duo2Core MBPro to Mavericks, I too lost Logic 9.
I'm pretty much done with Logic 9, and pretty happy about the new Logic X, and happy that it works on ALL of my machines.

  • Logic Pro 9 Will Not Open - Crashes Immediately - HELP!

When I run the Anteres Harmony Evo plug in, i usually expect Logic to crash. It usually does the 1st time I use it in a session, so I save my progress before doing so. This time I saved before, and as it was opened. It crashed right after I chose the scale I was to be working with for the harmonies. I went to re-open, but since I saved while the plug in was on top, it continues to crash immediately upon opening. I even tried removing the iLock USB key so it would then recognize that Anteres CANNOT be opened so i click "Quit" on the Anteres pop up, but then Logic will crash right after. What are some options?! I've got around 20 hours into this, so for me, it's a must to get back.
    Thanks in advance!

See if either of these two suggestions help, this is from a very recent forum post.

Please repost in the Final Cut Pro forum. Have you considered upgrading your machine, if you are still running Leopard your machine may be as old as 5 years old. While this should not matter you probably won't get the performance you want out of a demanding app like FCP.
    Best of luck.
