Logic Pro 9 won't recognize my serial key

Question

hey there,
so i used to have Logic Pro 9 installed on my Macbook, but my Macbook died and I've recently had to buy a new one.
when I tried to re-install the program, the key provided on the back of 'Installing Logic Pro' isn't being recognized by the software as a legitimate key.
how am i supposed to convince the software that I'm using my own key once again? i've re-entered it a number of times and it seems to be telling me i'm using an illegitimate key. it doesn't seem fair that because my previous Macbook died that I have to go and spend another $500 on Logic Pro, but that seems to be how the situation is crystallizing.
frustratingly too, I'm not sure how anyone here would be able to help; ideally I would be able to speak to a real person and provide the proper documentation to prove that I have purchased the software and am trying to re-install it.. is there a number to call? do I have to find an Apple Store to help this problem?

Make sure that the version you had originally wasn't in fact Logic 9 Upgrade, in which case you need to enter your Logic 8 serial first....
Secondly, make sure you are typing the serial correctly.. ensuring all zeros are zeros and not "o" ones are ones and not "i" or l" and so on...
Finally if you cannot resolve this issue simply call Apple... Go to their website and look at the support pages for which number to call (It varies depending on the country you reside in)
