Logic pro.app dissapeared/vanished

Question

I am running OS X 10.6  and Logic Pro 9.0.0  and logic pro.app seems to have suddenly dissapeared.  there's only logic node and soundtrack pro in the applications folder, and i cannot find it anywhere on the computer.  Logic was working fine 2 days ago... what's happening?  has anyone else had this problem?  it's just gone from the computer, could something have gotten screwed up in an update?

There's not enough information in your post to diagnose the  problem, but there are a few possibilities that come to mind:
You inadvertently trashed the application. Check your trash to see whether it's in there. If you've emptied your trash while it was in there, then it's gone, and you'll need to reinstall the application.
You dragged the application to another folder without realizing it. Have you searched for it using the Finder?
You accidentally renamed the application. It that's what happened, it should still be in your Applications folder, but you'll have to try to identify it by its icon. If there's an application with Logic's icon, a different name, and a file size of 605.3 MB (the size of Logic Pro v9.1.7 on my Mac Pro), then you've found it.
I suppose it's also possible that it somehow made its way into an invisible folder, in which case Spotlight wouldn't index it and the Finder wouldn't locate it with a search. However, that seems highly unlikely. You have to have your (normally) invisible folders showing to have dragged it in there, and in any case most of them are write-protected, so you wouldn't be able to add anything to their contents without the system prompting you for your administrator password.
You could try using the Finder to search for all applications. That will bring up a huge list, so you'll have to go through the items one by one. If the filename was changed, you'll be looking for Logic's icon. You can try sorting the search results in list view by file size, but Finder's impoverished features might not actually sort them for you.
