Logic Pro for Podcasting?

Does this have the Podcasting option similar to Garage Band?  Or would I just need to import my audio and then edit it?
Thanks

I'm on Logic 9.1.3 and Snow Leopard... there is no "Share" option in Logic that I see.
To be honest... Logic seems like overkill for just editing a podcast file, Garageband has more than enough features to do that and since the audio engine is based on Logic the sound will not be noticably different.

I had a code to get logics pro for free and after it installed its asking me for a serial number but it never gave me one to put in, it just started downloading and then asked me. Does anyone know what to do from here.

I really don't think that is anywhere near on track.
Most likely the trial version was installed earlier, is that correct?

  • Logic Express for podcasting?

    Hi all,
I'm really new to the podcasting thing and am trying to research podcasting software for my workplace. They're getting a Mac Pro and obviously it'll have Garageband but they want another step up. How is Express for podcast editing? My workplace will mostly be creating interview podcasts, possibly some videopodcasts down the line and maybe some audio slide shows.
Does anyone know if it enables users to create the XML feed, RSS feeds easily? I'm also looking into Adobe Soundbooth and would do iPodcast Producer but it is PC-only.
    Any suggestions are welcomed.

I'm new to logic Express but Garageband is pretty good for podcast and easy enough for anyone to use. You may want to give it a look first.

  • Music Production / Logic Pro / inspirational podcasts?

    Hello everyone,
I know I'm a little late to the party, but I just recently discovered the amazing resource that are podcasts! WOW!! In one day I've already downloaded about 50 podcasts ranging from digital audio tips, guitar & piano lessons, general mac tips, programs from soundtrack.net and NPR, as well as some philosophy and meditation podcasts! WAY COOL!!
With the wealth of information out there, it becomes hard to sort through it all. Thus I'm wondering, what podcasts are you subscribed to and which do you find helpful, interesting, inspiring? I'll make sure to update this thread with my findings as well.
I'm a little surprised to not see any dedicated logic pro podcasts. Bee Jay?

    Bee Jay?
    You trying to kill me..!!?
Sticking with audio podcasts, the ones I listen to:
Project Studio Network - fun, entertaining but decent podcast - news, interviews, the Charles Dye interviews are well worth a listen too...
Sounds Good - Hens Zimmerman, Logic tips and tutorials, reviews. Shor but on-topic.
Inside Home Recording - a bit dry and at a novice level for my tastes, but...
    ..and my absolute fave:
Sonic Talk - Nick from SonicState/DNA, Dave from GMedia, Mark Tinley (programmer for Duran Duran) and a bunch of other regulars get together and talk about interesting stuff of the week, whether it's audio stuff or something bizarre they saw on Matrixsynth. But it's quite funny...
There are also a bunch of other stuff I've subscribed to about film scoring, composition and so on but I haven't had time to get into any of those yet.
The best thing about audio production podcasts is they are always listenable, 'cos us guys know about geeky stuff like levels, compression, noise reduction etc.
Some of the other (non-audio related) podcasts are dreadfully put together, one guy talking at -25dBFS and another one distorting at 0dBFS, hugely overly dynamic signals or ones way too quiet, different segments at different levels - drives me nuts!
And you can always drop in at the Tiki Bar for some funnies - drinks always available...

  • Hello, is it possible to have Logic Pro for windows 8?

Hello, i have wimdows 8, could i have the Logic Pro on my PC?
    thanks.

I don't think you will have sucess. The problem is that old versions of Logic on Windows had a 2GB memory limit. Which is below the limit for Window 8. I have only read about failures to run old Logic versions on recent Windows versions. Sorry.

  • How to use Logic Pro for Windows 7?

I'm autistic, and am interesting in the music keyboards Apple sells. I would like to get Garageband and/or Logic Pro, but I have Windows 7 so I'm not sure if those kinds of software would work on that kind of system. Would they work on Windows 7, or if there's anything else I have to do?

    Hi,
None of the software (Logic, Garageband) is compatible between Mac OSX and Windows 7.
Your best choice is to look for similar programs avaialble on Windows.
There are several..  "Cubase" by Steinberg, "Sonar" by 12-Tone, and "ProTools" by Digidesign.

  • Open Final Cut Pro project in Logic Pro for audio editing

I want to open a Final Cut Pro project i'm working on into Logic Pro without having to export my large FCP projects to video all the time. Is there any way of doing this?

Thanks for replying to my question, I did mean Logic Pro but I'm relatively new to these programs. What's the difference with Soundtrack Pro and Logic Pro exactly? If I understood you correctly, Logic Pro would be the program I need since I need to create audio from scratch. Just to be more clear again, I want to see my video while composing audio at the same time but without having to export my video all the time since it takes long, being a big file. Thanks again for the reply.

  • Since logic express is discontinued, can i get the updates from logic pro for free?

logic pro was recently priced at 199, effectively replacing logic express. it seems as though apple should allow logic express users to get the additional functionality of logic pro withought buying the entire product again.

@Blueberry - lol I wonder if you'll sing the same tune if they discontinue logic pro and then force you to buy "logic studio" for $500 (current price 2012). See this guy's comment on the product page of the online store:
"I have been producing music on logic since before Apple acquired it from the previous developer.
I purchased Logic Pro 7 from Apple for $1000, and i have since spent another $500+ in "upgrades" to get to the current format of logic Pro 9. Shortly after my reluctant upgrade from 8 to 9, Apple released a promotional price of $300 for the entire program. That is just a little more than I paid to upgrade. Still no discount for upgrades though. In short loyal long time customers have now paid over $1,500.00 to get a $300 program. A slight kick in the pants for its Pro oriented customers. As a pro user you can add 7 computers, 4 iphones, 3 ipads and some ipods to that shopping cart as well.
In that time I have watched Apple drop Key production features out of Logic in order to make room for programming codes that dumb down the DAW interface and create undesired glitches within the frame of what was an excellent platform from Emagic.
Now that Mac has solidified its abandonment of the professional grade market by dropping the mac pro and pretty much all R&D for Logic as well, I find myself more and more disappointed with logics performance. Another product that has let go of functionality for aesthetics.
I have, in fact, spent well over 40 hours reverting and reformatting my system back to Snow Leopard (very difficult as Mac firmware no longer supports reverse compatibility) but also reverting logic to a version of LP9 that is stable within that operating system. I had to do this as there is no version of LP9 that works properly in any operating system after SL.
OS 10.6.8 + Logic 9.1.6/7 is the most stable combo that will run on intel based Mac. Trust me.. I tried the rest. I would prefer to go back to logic pro 7 but once again No reverse compatibility.
Hopefully the 2software developers... Yes two... still working on logic will at least make it stable again so we can finish our mixes and move to another software manufacturer.
Sorry Mac but after years of total loyalty you left me and the Professional market out in the cold."
So - I already paid about $200 for logic express and now I have to pay $200 more for something I never wanted?

  • Logic Pro for Video Use

Is it worth learning Logic Pro to manage the audio tracks in video?
My video isn't that complicated when it coms to audio, but I do have to manage outdoor audio tracks with music and voiceover.  Frequently I have to deal with audio that has problems in need of correction that FCPx strains to handle.
I'll never use Logic Pro to record music, so is it worth buying and learning just to manage audio tracks in video?

Don't get the extra RAM from Apple.  (Too expensive.)  Get the minimum RAM from Apple, and go to Crucial or somewhere similar.  It's an easy DIY job to upgrade RAM.

  • Want to use Logic 8 Pro for Podcasting, help needed

I have a few problems. I just switched over to Logic after using ProTools for 4 years so I'm a newbie. I'm about to start a podcast soon and I want to use Logic 8 Pro to do so. Is there a book that someone can recommend me for getting familiar with Logic?
Here are the things I need to get done:
I have a mixer and I need to know how to record the sounds playing through my computer to end up in Logic. I basically want to be able to capture the audio playing on my computer and have that be on the podcast. How do I do this?
Secondly, I'm confused about what Input 1 and Input 2 are. What is the difference?
I'd appreciate anyone who could IM me to help me further with Logic if I have a quick question or anything. My AIM screen name is DirtyVibes. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,

Yes, the Getting Started manual, you can download it from Apple.

I'm not sure what you are asking here. If you want to record the whole output of your computer, I recommend using a virtual audio driver like Soundflower or Jack.
Secondly, I'm confused about what Input 1 and Input 2 are. What is the difference?
Input 1 is the input marked "1" on your audio interface (or the left channel on a stereo pair).
Input 2 is the input marked "2".
If your audio interface has more than 2 inputs, they will all show up, so you can record different inputs to different tracks if required.
You might be better off using Garageband to record your podcasts, it's simpler and has dedicated podcast functions (like adding iTunes artwork and so on).

  • Logic Pro or Soundtrack Pro for Post Production (In a Pro Tools world)?

    Hey guys,
How many of you out there, is using Logic for Post Production (or Soundtrack Pro)? I know a couple of people myself, out there using Logic Pro for Post and absolutely love it. Wanted to see if there are more of you out there and what your experiences have been with Logic Pro in the area of TV, motion picture and video sound. How is it, working in a majority Pro Tools realm? Are you finding it harder to interface with other studios, running Pro Tools?
    Message was edited by: Syrcle

I find that Logic is not a substitute for Pro Tools as a post editor DAW. Having been a Logic user since 96' and a ProTools user since 92' , I cannot imagine trying to post something other than music using Logic. Of course, it could be done but, it is a matter of interchange ability and the simple editing found in Pro Tools that is easy for Post applications. Conversely, I would not be tempted to make music in a Pro Tools session, unless it was an all audio scenario without virtual midi plugins.
I love Logic for music and ProTools for post and this comes after years of messing with both in everyday real commercial environments . If you have success using Logic as a good Post audio editorial
device, then enlighten me! But,right now, I wouldn't want to make music without Logic and I would never try to mix a movie on anything else but ProTools because these are the devices I use everyday.

  • Logic Pro no longer works with Firewire 1814 after updating drivers

I was attempting to hook up 2 M-Audio Firewire 1814 units and use them from Logic Pro 7. The older driver I was using would actually crash with this configuration, and so I updated to the latest driver, thinking this might solve the problem.
Well, the M-Audio driver now comes up fine - I can even monitor the signal levels coming from both devices in the associated UI. However, when I launch Logic Pro, I get the following message:
"Logic Pro has detected a possible conflict between one or more third party MIDI or audio drivers."
Although I can arm some of the lower track numbers (I still get this message), I cannot do so with higher track numbers.
Effectively, installing the latest M-Audio driver has broken my version of Logic Pro for whatever reason.
Removing and reinstalling the driver made no difference.
    Any thoughts, anyone??
