Logic Pro & iLife 08, which to install 1st

I'm mainly a Logic user but want to install iLife too, I just bought a new Mac Pro and have started to install everything, but not sure which is best to install first - Logic or iLife?
Any problems that may arise by this?
Thanks
C.

OK, thanks for the info guys.
I installed iLife08 (inc. Garageband) first then fully installed Logic and it's contents disc, plus updates.
I now open LP and try some of the Apple loops in the browser, usually you can just click the icon next to a loop and it will play.... now it won't & when I try to drag a loop onto the arrange page it comes up with a dialogue saying "Acousitc Drum Kit Groove 01.caf is empty!"
Am I stuck with this until an update for LP?
Will this affect my LP projects once I move them over from my MBP, or is it only the new loops that are affected?
I actually asked the Apple Genius counter in my local store (when I bought my new MP and iLife) about this and they said there was no reports that they had been made aware of, but obviously this is not working.
I am going to go back and ask them now I have fully tried the new install etc.
Even the midi loops come up with the "empty" dialogue... it looks like every loop is not going to work, not happy!!
Thanks
C.

I even pulled the dmg file into the Logic Studio folder in my applications directory and it still does not recognize it.  What do I do now?

    Niel:  Thanks.
For others benefit, here is what happened.
I had installed Logic Studio 9.1 some time ago.......not knowing what all the programs were nor what they did, I created a "Logic Studio" subfolder in my applications folder and put all Logic Studio programs into it so I'd know where they were and could review each at my leisure over time.
My assumption now is that when the updater looks for the Logic Pro program, it looks only in the applications folder.  It seems lame that it would not also look in the subfolders of the applications folder, but that apparently IS the way it works.  Because my Logic Pro program was located in the "Logic Studio" subfolder, the updater just didn't see it..hence the error message I received when I tried to update.
Solution:  I moved all the Logic Studio programs out of the subfolder and now they reside in the applications folder. Ran the 9.1.5 updater and it worked like a charm.

  • How can i know my logic pro 9 is for 3 install's?

how can i know my logic pro 9 is for 3 install's?

Logic Pro 9 (the DVD version) can be installed on a notebook and a desktop (2). The Mac App Store products can be installed on all Macs that you own. If you need a volume license (e.g. for a school) you should contact Apple.

  • Logic Pro X can't be installed on "Macintosh HD" because Mac OS X version 10.8.4 or later is required.

    Hello,
I want to buy logic pro x and i recieve this message: Logic Pro X can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because Mac OS X version 10.8.4 or later is required. what i need to do? thanks!!

Given you apparently are looking for a different answer to the completely obvious one....
    You can;
    1) Undress.. stand on one leg, wear a very silly hat... whistle "Dixie" and pray to the Gods of Apple that they will somehow magically install LPX for you...
    2) Spend your days in the studio wondering what "Mac OS X version 10.8.4 or later is required" actually means... and make up a song in your head baed on the resulting thoughts... Of course, you won't be able to actually record it but maybe thats not such a bad thing for the rest of the world..
    3) You could run out to the nearest Apple Store.. spend a small fortune on a new Mac that has "Mac OS X version 10.8.4 or later" already installed and use that to install LPX on.. even though your current Mac may be perfectly capable of running LPX.. if only you actually followed the advice given by Blueberry... and did what the error meassage you orginally received, told you to do...
    4) You could simply give up on music entirely.... and spend the rsst of your life.. meditating quietly in a corner.... waiting on the world to do everything for you....
    Seriously though...............
There comes a point when it's really hard to take such a question seriously when the answer is there, right in front of you...plain as day...
    A) Upgrade your OS X version and then install LPX
    or...
    B) Do not upgrade your OS X version and do not install LPX.. Do not pass Go.. Do not collect/spend $200......
    Pretty simple really!

  • Is there a version of Logic Pro X that can be installed on a Mac Book Pro with OS X Version 10.7.5 ?

Is there a version of Logic Pro X that can be installed on a Mac Book Pro with OS X Version 10.7.5 ?

No.. Logic Pro X requires 10.8.4 or later....
To Purchase and install Mountain Lion these days.. you must buy a download content code from Apple directly... It is no longer available directly via the Mac App Store as an item you can select and buy...
If you are in the US then this link will help you...

  • Do I need to download the additional content of Logic Pro X every time I install it on each of my computers?

Do I need to download the additional content of Logic Pro X every time I install it on each of my computers?

A poster in the following thread gives a direct download link to the installer package:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22495063#22495063
...if that works and Logic Pro X recognises that it's been installed at startup, then clearly you can just download it the one time and manually install it on each computer. Unfortunately the App Store doesn't appear to provide a way to export and subsequently authorise installation archives for downloaded applications, though, so you'll still have to download the 600-odd-MB core of Logic via the App Store on each machine.

  • WB 1.6.0 has not updated even though Logic Pro 9.1.1 is installed

I've posted this also on the Logic Pro forum.
My computer refused to update Waveburner 1.6.0 to 1.6.1 even though Logic 9.1.1 is installed - tells me everything is up to date, which it is not!
How do I get it to comply?
Can I somehow uninstall the 9.1.1 update and the reinstall? and how would I do that?
I'm very confused and any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm away for the weekend so I won't be around to answer questions, sorry...

Fixed - see Logic pro forum for answer....

  • Finding Logic Pro Serial Number w/o Install Disk

I installed Logic Studio Version 9 a long time ago, and until now, have had no problem moving the application from computer to computer. However, after recently migrating all my stuff from a Macbook running Lion to an iMac running Mountain Lion, I can't open Logic. It asks me for a serial number I've long since lost track of, from an instal disk I no longer have. Is there any place within the installed software itself to locate the serial number?

I lost my Logic 9 serial, i had moved house and we were flooded out about 6 months before i lost it and had to chuck a lot of paperwork out that was caught in the water.  I wanted to put it on to my new mac, and like a fool i had uninstalled it from my older iMac so was left with nothing but the disks.
Contacted Apple and they were no help whatsoever for me, i was really annoyed with them, complained and hit a brick wall where they couldn't offer to help as i could find no receipt either, never offered to check their system for me.
Luckily i had put the serial number in my old iMac box, which i didn't discover until a few weeks later, along with the receipt.
I was so pleased to find it!   ...but i do resent Apple a little after my dealings, really felt hung out to dry.  As LP9 had just appeared on the app store at the time i did wonder if they were trying to drop any 'old school' boxed LP9/Logic Studio enquiries.
If they do provide you with a new serial, i beleive there's a fee for it too from my correspondance so it may be worth checking out what that is first, and whether you're best putting that into Logic Pro X.
Also, if you have Logic running on any of your old machines i think you can go to the About menu and it's displayed on there.

  • Having purchased Logic Pro some time ago and installing on my iMac, am I now allowed an additional install on my new MacBook Pro?

May I install Logic Pro on both my iMac and MacBook Pro? How do I make that Appearance is appropriate. store allow the second install?

The network check in LP9 to prevent this was removed in 9.1.6 onwards when the App Store version was released....

  • Logic pro not starting up after install.

Ive tried to install Logic pro twice and both time it will not start up after install. can someone tell me what is the best way to install this program correctly? should i just pay apple more money to install the program for me?

I have exactly the same problem. Whilst 8.0.1 would hang during startup without displaying the splash screen intermittently 8.0.2 crashs every time a few seconds after displaying the splash screen.
Although my computer is almost 6 years old it is perfectly adequate for audio work. I hope this is fixed soon. Unimpressed with the quality control.

  • Logic pro and mainstage essential content installing problems

for 2 days now I have had Logic pro and mainstage essential contend down loading in a greyed out box with a moving stripy line in the centre, clearly it is downloading something but for 2 days? how can I get rid of it.

Thank you for the info I appreciate it!  Was also wondering if the Drummer content downloads faster from Logic Pro X than from Garageband as the Drummer content downloads rather slowly from Garageband. And was figuring that since Logic Pro X is more expensive than Garageband perhaps the servers they use for Logic Pro X would be more faster than Garageband's but I'm just taking a wild guess

  • Logic pro and logic pro 9.0.2 both installed

    Hey guys,
I did a update recently of logic pro with also mainstage etc. But today I looked in my programs folder and now it seems that I have 2 programs of Logic pro/Logic Node and Mainstage. One is just without the version number and the other is with 9.0.0 and mainstage with 2.0.1 Can I delete the old program or must I keep it. I think it's stragen that it was not replaced by a new version. Can anybody tell me If I can delete it or what the purpose is of the double programs.
    Thanks
    Erik

I'm sorry namesake, but don't say that. This Q. pops up +at least+ 5 times a week on this forum, so if you couldn't find it, something is not up to scratch with your search skills... sorry.

  • How can I acess the Canon Photoprint Pro plug-in which is installed?

I use PhotoPrint Pro in CS5, the plug-in is installed in LR4 but I can find no way of using the Canon tool.
Is it possible?  If not why is it installed?
    Roger

    Hallo Roger,
I do not know your special plug-in,
but the usual ways to access *all* plug-ins is via File menu - Plugin-Extras - one of the entries to the right.
If your desired plug-in does not show up there, you need first to invoke the plug-in Manager from the file menu to ensure it is really installed.
