Logic Pro just shuts down

Hi
Has anyone ever encounter this problem where Logic Pro x
Just shuts down with no warning and a window opens saying" report problem " with three options ...send report and so on...
The only thing I can see different is that at the opening of this particular song it says that a file is missing and try to locate file...
And the file in question is a " movie file" which I imported but then removed ....
This was quite a complex song which I had to copy each track and pasted each track into a new project....which works fine...but
Very time consuming.....
If you've had this problem with shutting down let me know how you solved it
Thank you

Rick,
Should I put these two files in the User Library/Preferences?
No.. Just quit Logic Pro...
Delete those two files..
Restart your Mac.. and launch LPX and see if that fixes things...
I did have Logic Pro Studio 9 installed prior to Logic Pro X, but removed it after installing Logic Pro X.
There was no need to do that ..... as they both can happily coexist on the same system. and in fact there are some benefits to keeping LP9 installed (Accessing older projects.. ability to continue using 32bit plugins and so on..)
Did you simply delete the LP9 App or did you use an undelete app to remove it?

MacBook Pro just shut down without notice. It had about 40% of the battery life. It will not turn back on and I noticed when plugged in the little light on the power cord is blinking orange, not a solid green like normal.  Anyone have this issue before?  I've only had this for about 3mos.  I called apple support. They tried one thing then said I have to take to the apple store. Unfortunately I don't have one nearby. So before I travel an hour+ away I thought is give it a shot on here. Thank.

    Hi S,
Did they have you try an SMC Reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964?

    Hi aaliyafrommarkham,
In order to troubleshoot this, I would recommend that you start with an SMC reset. Information on this procedure can be found here:

  • Hi, my Macbook Pro just shut down for no reason. Before, there were black lines all over the screen. Then it shut down and it started to make beeps (3). What can I do?!

I was using my computer just as usual, I was on Microsoft Words and doing lectures on the Internet. Then, out of nowhere, the screen froze and black lines appeared all over the screen and the computer shut down. The screen was all black, but I think it was still open because my laptop was doing sounds, three beeps. When it beeps, the little light that shows you when your laptop is open is bright, so the beeps and the light are synchronized. AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, help me!!!

There is a hardware problem. Possibly bad RAM. Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

  • Quicktime pro wont export - just shuts down

Hi - been searching the web for this one, but no luck. My QT pro just shuts down when I want to export. For example I open a FLV file and it plays fine. I then go to export it and QT just shuts down. I can export to WEB but not export. I do have Perian installed - not sure that makes a difference. Also my QT version is 7.6.2
I read a post suggesting i move the flv.component file from QT library but can't find this file anywhere. Any help is appreciated, thanks

There are lots of malformed FLV files on the interweb. If QT crashes, you found one. Test it in FLV, you are likely to find it doesn't like it either, or Streamclip (as long as you have Perian). If it won't open or export from the latter then you don't have a lot of options. And since it isn't yours to edit then no harm done.

  • HELP! Premiere Pro CC shut down because of serious error after applying FilmConvert

I just purchased Film Convert Bundle and already have made activation
Tried it in Premiere Pro CC, and it doesn't work!
    A have tried three times..
    - new project
    - imported my video
    - apply FilmConvert to my video.....and nothing! I even didn't see FilmConvert window. Premiere Pro just shut down with error:
    'Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014
Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.'
Tried it in After effects CC, and it also doesn't work!
After effects hangs after applying FilmConvert
Please help me solve this problems! I like your product very much!
But It work in Photoshop CC!
    I have:
    MacBook Pro,  Early 2013
    2,4 ГГц Intel Core i7
    8 gb 1600  DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 МБ
    OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)
    43 GB available now
What can be a problem, and how to solve it, HELP please!

For me the OpenCL Mercury Render engine is less stable and performs worse than the CUDA equivalent on NVIDIA cards. As you say you are using an NVIDIA card, see if there is a CUDA option for Filmconvert or use software rendering on the CPU as you have found.

  • MacBook Pro keeps shutting down immediately after startup chime

I booted into Windows 7 on my boot camp partition and was about to play Dirt 3 for the 1st time.  I was in the options menu of the game and my MacBook Pro just shut down/turned off instantly.
I turned back on, holding in Option so I could boot into Windows again, but the computer just turned off immediately after the startup chime.  I turned on again, this time I didn't hold in Option, so I could boot into OS X (my default startup volume) and the same thing happened - MBP shut down immediately after the startup chime.  I tried again, same thing.  I tried again, and this time it booted fine into OS X, and all seems ok.
    Any idea what's going on?

Hi. When you were in the recovery drive doing permissions, did you try and run a repair of the boot drive? Did you try single user mode? Try these first and then go back and try to reinstall the operating system. When I say repair boot drive I don't mean permissions. There are both options in disk utilities. When you open disk utilities ,you will see in the left column  two drives plus possibly  a boot partition that look like an external driv. click on the second drive and in first aid use repair disk. If you still can't boot and it will not let you restore, you may have to do a clean install.   http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18869?viewlocale=en_US

  • Error Message:  Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Pro to shut down.

Hi. I'm having another serious problem with CS4 (the version that comes with CS5 when you don't have 64 bit capability. I just finished a project, had saved it, and then had switched over to Adobe Encoder to create a finished flash video (which worked perfectly). I shut down CS4, went home, tried to restart the main project to create a video from the same project (wanted to make an mpeg version as well) and got the following error message:
Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project. Then the system shuts down.
Not only can I not open the project I was working on, I cannot open any of my prior projects without receiving the same error.
Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this issue and how to resolve it?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
By the way, is everyone else having the same amount of problems with this software? I've never had any software that has had so many problems from the beginning. My opinion of this software and Adobe in general has gone down substantially.

Not enough information for anyone to even make a guess

Hi guys; I thought I would share my experience and how I managed to fix this problem. It might help someone.
In my case I kept receiving this message; eventually after re-launching Premiere, I actually paid close attention to the "software loading" information and saw that it got stuck on my installed "Colorista ii" which is a colour grading software.
Now the red bulb came on my head ping!
I recently just upgraded my Mac to the OS X Yosemite & that affected pretty much any non-updated application, which in my case was that and many more of the Red Giant Pacakge; so I searched for the upgrade via Red giant Link, and low and behold I found it and did so. Immediately everything loaded up perfectly fine.. and now can't even do the work, cos I'm so exhausted from an 'almost heartattack'; so going to sleep and commence later in the day I guess..
Now, you might probably want to check if any application on your system needs upgrading to whatever is the operating system on your Mac or PC at this very time. It might help.
    Always back-up.
    I hope I helped someone :-)

  • Macpro 17inch just shut down while using.  Tried removing battery and SMC to no avail.  Have had this problem before over the last six months but would always restore.  Now you just click on the power button front light stays on for 2 sec

Hi, My 17 inch Mac pro laptop just shut down and I can't get it to turn on again.  This has happen multiple times over the last six months.  Looked through the forum and tried removing the battery and resetting the SMC control to no avail. I was having issues also with the screen a month ago but that resolved by itself.  When I took it into the genius bar for screen problems I was told I'd probably need a new CPU board because the vram may be going bad and they just don't fix that
problem.  Have held off because of a potential $500 repair and awaiting ivy bridge technology.  Does anyone in the community know how I can restart my portable.  Right now you turn on the machine and the front light stays on for 2 sec and you hear the machine click off?

I think you may have already been told what the problem is.  However look at this and maybe it will help:

  • Macbook pro retina shutting down after computer changes graphic card

My 15 inch (Mid 2012) Retina MacBook Pro has recently started to shut down. I realized it was because of the change from using the Intel HD Graphics 4000 to the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M. This would happen if I were to play around with the energy savings buttons or run something that requires a lot of power. After shutting down, it would restart with a black screen and will proceed to do nothing. The computer is still on though as I can still hear error noises when pressing the keyboard. It would normally require me to wait 15 minutes and turn it on after resetting RAM and SMC. I know that it isn't related to updating to the latest version of Mavericks as I was still able to run some heavy duty apps after installing it.
Processor  2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9.5 (13F34)
    Storage  250GB

I just ran a few tests to confirm my suspicion that this is a sleep problem for me and found that my rMBP will restart as soon as it has entered the sleep cycle.  Set it to auto sleep after 10 minutes and it will restart at 10 minutes, set it to sleep at 3 minutes and it will restart at 3 minutes.  Command it to sleep and it will restart.
So for me at least there is a workaround and that is to set sleep to "never".  The display still sleeps but my mac keeps running.  So that's not a solution but it is a workaround, and if I want it to shutdown and not restart I either hold the powerbutton or take off the power cable and choose shut down from the dropdown menu (it won't restart on battery power, it'll just shut down).
I hope that helps someone else!  And I hope it helps the engineers to diagnose and actually solve the very long running problem for us all..

  • Macbook pro wont shut down without holding the power button nor cycle for updates to restart.

macbook pro wont shut down without holding the power button nor cycle for updates to restart

Sorry I said sorta wrong. I can shut down and I can update to the point of restart but it just sat for 45 minutes after an update. It goes through the update and to restart then the bars chase each other in a circle and it never restarts. So I hit the power button and go through normal reboot but loosing the update in the process. It does not matter how long I wait for a natural reboot after an update or click to restart it will chase the little bar in circles all day literally and never reboot.

  • MacBook Pro Spontaneous Shut Down

I have a macbook pro 7.1 and I have recently started to notice that the battery does not last as much as it used to (I could stay like 6-7 hours without recharging and recently only last for less than 2). I couldn't really tell how sudden was this change, but I think it begun to perform worse very slowly at first and this last weeks the decay has become more pronounced.
But the problem got worse today: I was using my macbook on battery, and when the battery indicator (on the bar in the upper side of the screen) was still over 50% of battery*, the computer just shut down! When I connected it to the charger and turned it on again, my desktop image was gone (it went back to the default) and the date was reset (now, after restarting a few times/connecting to the internet, the date seems to be updated again; the desktop image is still the default). Also, when running firefox, I found all my tabs still open but apparently the security configuration was also "reset" (it warned me google wasn't a safe site...).
*I wasn't looking at it the whole time, but I did take a look once in a while, and it seemed to me that it stayed in 100% "a lot" of time and suddenly dropped to a lower value (again, I can't tell you how suddenly because it must have happened when I was not paying attention, and I don't recall the exact value to which it fell).
I was now checking the information of the battery and it says I only used 79 cycles (this battery is supposed to tolerate up to 1000, right?) and the full charge capacity is 444 mAh (Is this value ok?). Does anybody know what the problem might be??

    My suspicions are that your battery is questionable or there is a bad connection internally.  Go to SYSTEM PROFILER>HARDWARE>POWER>BATTERY INFORMATION and post this information;
    (This is from my MBP)
Also run an Apple Hardware Test and see if that identifies any problems.
    Ciao.

  • My Macbook Pro just shuts off.....not very happy

I got my 17" MBP a week ago Saturday. Everything was fine for almost a week. Friday it shut odwn on me three times. I called Apple Care and they walked me through a series of steps that supposedly would take care of the problem: remove the battery, press and hold ctrloptionR, while turning the computer on and pressing 'P' (I think). It seemed to do the trick, as I had no problems until today.
This morning it would start up, I'd be on it for a few minutes and it would just shut off. It did this about four or five times. Then this evening - it has done it twice. It just goes black and shuts down.
My settings for sleep are set correctly, my battery is charged correctly - this is just very upsetting.
I didn't think Macs did stuff like this. I had so many problems with PC's and laptops over the years, I was hoping I had escaped some of this.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Does anyone know WHY this would happen?
I'm calling Apple Care tomorrow and getting to the bottom of this. I want a reason/solution or a new MB.
    Thanks for your help!

Hi. I just did the update over the weekend. I had my MacBook pro (1st Gen) just shut down and didn't think much of it after about an hour of use. I put the charger on it for a couple days and left today on a business trip. I assume I had a full charge. I got about one third through a movie while flying. usually with the right settings I can get a movie and some work done. Anyway the machine just shut down. It would not reboot. It would try but fail like it had not enough power to complete the boot. The interesting thing is when I press the battery indicater button on the back it was showing four green lights which is about right given the amount of the movie I got through. Three hours later in Toronto it boots like nothing was ever wrong. However after about 5 mins it just shut itself down again. Wait a half hour it will do the same thing the battery shows about an hour remaining at this point but it won't stay running. I don't think the battery needs to be calibrated I mean it shows what looks to be the right time remaining when it does boot. Also I didn't even get 40 mins out of it after a fresh charge? I am like everyone else here hoping for an answer. I was going to go buy a new battery but I hit the boards first and it looks like that might not be the answer. Just thought I would give my experience in case it helps someone out there find a fix and the more that make apple aware of this problem the better.
    Cheers

  • My MacBook Pro Immediately Shuts Down When I Unplug It.

Whenever I unplug my MacBook Pro from its power source, it shuts down. No warning or anything. It just shuts down. Is this something that requires a big fix-it type of thing?

    Hi Nozebra,
Check your battery. When your computer is plugged in, click on the blue apple, and then About this Mac. When you see the box, check More Info... This brings up Apple Profiler. Click on Power (on the left). This will tell you how much battery power you have.
This happened to me, and it turned out that my battery (which was not under the recall program) would no longer hold a charge. I called AppleCare, and they sent me out a new battery, which I received 24 hours later.
