Logic Pro Mac App version

Is the sounds library the same in the download version from Mac App Store that the discontinued box version?
Thanks in advance!

Hi
Yes, except that the Apple Loops are lossy-compressed (no big deal generally).
You do need to download *all* the content.

Same here, I have Logic Studio 8 and wouldn't mind staying with that version, except that the installer won't run on my new Macbook Pro as PowerPC apps are no longer supported. That's the message I get in any case.
I use to run Logic on a 2006 Macbook Pro.
I guess that makes me a very unhappy Apple user! I've been using Logic from the Emagic days, bought every upgrade only to see Apple kill what used to be one of the best Pro Audio application. Imagine if they had done the same to Photoshop, there would be a lot of unhappy designers out there
Paying the full price for years to slowly see your daily app go down in price & efficiency until it's given away at $199 for semi pro users. Well, at least ProTools is stil alive & kicking so I guess that's the way forward now.
This is coming from someone that never ever used a Windows machine to make music! Life is good still!

  • You can't use this version of the application "logic pro" with this version of os x

After installing all of Logic Studio (i.e. install dvd, audio content 1-3, jam packs 1-3), my laptop concludes that everything is installed successfully, however, when going to open to Logic, error icon appears and says:
'you can't use this version of the application "logic pro" with this version of os x'

Thank you! I found that just after I entered the question. I reinstalled everything two times, updated software, but was still having issues. But, I specifically updated the 9.1.8 (which was supposedly included in my standard software update). Guess I needed to give it some extra attention and affection.
P.S. - Why do I feel like the more I upgrade versions of OS X, the worse off I am getting or am? Isn't it supposed to be opposite...isn't it supposed to make things better...come on, mac...where you at? mt. lion or mavericks. I'm downloading Snow Leopard to make some programs run. (um, yeah).

  • Logic pro 7 academic version upgrade

I think this question has been asked multiple times in the previous posts so sorry if that is true. I was wondering if I could update my logic pro 7 academic version to logic pro 8? It says on the box that academic versions are not eligible for upgrades so I'm holding off from buying the upgrade to logic pro 8. So do I have to buy the whole complete logic pro 8 package?
    Bye for now

Here is my story... I bought Logic Pro 7 Academic at the beginning of '05 when it was still 500 dls. Later I bough the update to 7.2. for 50 dls. Last week I went to the Apple store and bought the Logic Pro 8 upgrade for 200 dls because the sales rep told me I could upgrade from the academic version. I don't know what to do with the upgrade I bought now that I know I can't use it, plus I already opened the box. With all the money invested in this software Apple should get me a retail copy of LP8 for free! (in my dreams)...

  • Problem with Logic Pro 7 Academic Version

I've been using my academic version of logic pro 7 for about a year, and just recently it hasn't been starting up the way it used to. Usually when it launches, it says logic pro 7: academic version. But now it just says logic pro 7 and tries to run it as a one day trial of the retail version. I tried to get help over the phone but they were saying that they can't help me troubleshoot because they can only help out with logic studio. basically, they say to just reinstall it and if still have problems post it on this discussion. so here i am after the reinstall with the problem still occurring. some help please?

i just updated my xskey from the xskey updater in the utilities folder and it works now.

  • Anyone else had this issue when installing the downloaded Logic Pro 9 app?

How long does this normally take to install? I purchased the Logic Pro 9 app coming close to 72 hours ago now and every since the iMac has been firstly downloading and now installing the content on its own. What's odd, is that it seems to have been stuck on the same process now for close to 24 hours which is 'Installing Logic Pro & Mainstage Essential Content'
Surely the install doesn't take this long?
    My computer specs are:
    21.5" iMac: 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo // 4GB RAM
    Logic Pro 9.1.7
Do you think there is a risk of doing a computer restart and interuppting the 'install' - presuming thats what is still happening? The progress bar is moving but there's no estimated time showing on its completion. Ive tried, and i am however able to open Logic Pro and use instruments etc.

Oh dear - it really shouldn't take so long, but of course it depends on your broadband connection. If I remember rightly, the first download of the 'essential content' took about 40 minutes over my cable connection, which is faster and more reliable than ADSL here in the UK, although I don't pay megabucks for the fastest service.
Don't try and load everything at once - one package at a time - and if it appears to have come to a halt, it should resume the download rather than starting over (it did in my experience). You need to keep a pretty regular eye on the download status - setting it to download the entire content and expecting it to have all finished when you go back to it later may be a bit unrealistic.
There aren't any magical solutions to any of this as far as I can see, I'm afraid - if you're really out of luck, you can sign into the App Store and download the .dmg files to a computer with a faster connection, if you have access to such a thing.

  • Re-InStall Logic Pro X App Store Problems

Hello All, I am having problems will Logic Pro X when creating a New File or Using Templates it crashes.  I have tried lots of things advised by many User web sites and searching the Web.  It now appers I have to reinstall the App.  Here lies the problem? When opening the App Store and my Purchases it tells me its installed?  Greyed out.  Do I have to now delete Logic Pro X to change this window?  If thats the case do I have to delete ALL of Logic Pro X and content which well could mess up Logic 9 I still use and maybe Final Cut X God...There files and floders all over the OS Main drive?
There seems little in the way of backing up Logic Pro X with the installer for such occasions as I find mysellf in when using the App Store.  I do have a recent clone of my hard drive but it well could have the problem in a bad file etc..  We dont have a disk image DMG anymore nor a DVD CD disk to revert to?  Its crazy and whats puzzleing is I just download Mevericks with the insaller without it installing.  I can back that up and insatll it when I wish and thats free? So it makes know sence when you have paid for a App?
Of cause maybe there's a simple explention and I have missed it?  Thanks for any advise help or experiences, you may all have to reinsall such Pro apps one day?  Cheers Don H

Ok found the solutions to reinstalling Logic X from the App Store….
    1. First trash the App from your applications folder- command C + Command V paste to your desktop, then put it in the trash. You can't drag it to anywhere you get an Alias?
    2. Make sure you unmount any external HD in my case had Logic X projects on?
    3. Then empty the trash.
    4. Go to the App Store and sign Out! Then close the app…
    5. Restart the computer in Safe Mode hold the shift key down?
    6. Once your desktop is up power down again restarting the computer normally - your emptying the cache files etc. or so I am told.
    7. Once up and back to your normal desktop open the Apps Store - sign in and go to your purchases.  You may have to sign out then sign in again?
With some Apple magic your Logic Pro X app should appear for INSTALL.
You will have to set everything up in Logic X again but hopefully you have a BK of your Key Commands?  Just import?
It all appears a pain just to install Logic X again but it works.  Many of you may not need to go through the various things to get the App Store to work.  I did this with an Apple Logic X tech?  There well maybe other ways of skipping powering up and down etc.  At least you can reinstall and hopefully get rid of any previous bugs and problems?   Cheers Don H

  • Soundtrack pro is not included in the new logic pro 9 app?

Soundtrack pro is not included in the new logic pro 9 app? Where can I find it?

    Hi
Soundtrack Pro was included in the Logic Studio and Final Cut (7) suites, and would appear to have been discontinued.
Unless you can track down a retail copy of either suite, you are out of luck

  • Logic Pro 9 - App Store - No Serial Number

    Hi there,
Before we get started, this is NOT a discussion about a pirated version of Logic Pro 9. I have never, not now or in the past installed any pirated software on this machine.
I just downloaded Logic Pro 9 from the Mac App Store, and it downloaded and installed just fine. However... when starting the program up, it asks me for a serial number. This is a number that I do not have. It was not emailed to me, it does not seem to exist in any of the purchase history inside the App Store or my iTunes account.
Why in the world would they let me purchase a product that apparently requires a serial number, but does not provide one at the time of purchase?
Can anyone, please PLEASE provide me with a suggestion. I don't want to have just spent all this money for nothing.
    Thanks,
    Nannou

Check in  Root/Library/Preferences for a file named   com.apple.RegLogic******.plist.  The name may differ depending on which version of Logic or Logic Express was previously installed or if you had a partial install of the AppStore version.
That file HAS to be deleted.

  • Logic Pro from app store with Logic Express installed

    Hi there!
Does anybody know what happens if I install Logic Pro from the Mac App Store while Logic Express is already installed? Will this drag me derectly into dependency **** or can the two coexist?
Because I really wouldn't want to wreck my working Logic Express Setup by installing Logic Pro...
    Cheers
    Volker

    Hi
It should work fine, with the exception that opening projects via the Finder may open Express rather than Pro (easily fixed).

  • HT2375 Bought Logic Pro in App store - Where do I find the serial??

I can't finnish my installation of Logic after purchasing it in App store beacouse I can't find the serial - where do I find it?

Just to clarity this answer for anyone else who should read it in the future..
The version of Logic Pro from the App Store does NOT use a serial... It uses your Apple ID and Password during purchase or install to authenticate itself.
Only the original Box sets of L7 or earlier (which also used a hardware key...) and Logic Studio, Logic Studio 2 and non App store purchased Logic Pro Upgrade DVDs/updates require a serial code to complete install.

  • SendAndLoad fails in mac .app version - possible security setting problem?

    Hi all,
I'm having trouble with sendAndLoad working on the .app version of a flash application I made. So far it's only happening on one computer, so it appears to be some sort of security setting.  Here's what's going on:
I've built a flash application (Flash 9, AS2) that has three versions: an online version, a standalone  .exe version for PC, and a standalone .app version for mac. The user must log in to use the application. Online, this is handled by the portal hosting the flash. In the standalone versions, the user must login through the flash application. Through sendAndLoad, it accesses the same database of user info as the online version. The user just enters username/password, clicks "Submit," and if it finds the combination in the database, it lets the user in. If not, it gives them a message saying they entered the wrong username/password.
This has tested fine across macs and pcs, but sadly one macbook can't use the .app version. It launches, they put in valid username/password, hit submit and it freezes. All I can tell is that it gets the httpStatus number 0. As you can see below, I've got it set up to spit out an error message if it fails to load (login_lv.onLoad = function(success)), but it doesn't even do that.
I've put a crossdomain.xml file at the root level of the domain that's set to allow access from any domain.
This computer can log in successfully to the online version of the course, but the .app version seems to be hampered by some sort of security setting. The problem computer's settings match the settings of a mac I've tested successfully. It has up-to-date Flash 10 and is running Leopard. Here are security settings:
    System Preferences>Security
         General
              Everything is unchecked
         FileVault
              Turned off
         Firewall
"Allow all incoming connections" is selected
I'd appreciate any ideas anyone has. I'm far from wise about the ins-and-outs of mac security, so I may be missing something. I'm happy to clarify anything.

  • Logic Pro 7 Education Version

    Hi Guys,
Im just new to the forum so i apologise if this question has been answered previously.
I bought Logic Pro 7 via my college some time ago & am really happy with it. However, on another forum it was mentioned that if Apple were to update Logic to Logic Pro 8 i wouldn't be eligible to upgrade as i have an educational version.
Does anyone know if this is actually correct?
    Thanks!

The US web site says no you can't. The UK web site makes no such reference. I checked with my Apple Account Manager and she said that items bought by me or my students at the Higher Educational discount (effectively the cheapest way into Logic) would be OK. However, students buying through the HE part of the Apple Web Site may not be so lucky.
It's a real mess and one that needs some clarity. If your institution bought it and then passed it to you, there's a chance that you'll be OK but I don't write the rules. If you bought it yourself, it depends whether the US rules appear in the UK.
    Vague answer? You bet!
    Pete
