Logic Pro Mountain Lion FIX
Hey people. I'm as angry as the next person for this stupid lagging.
For those who are working and don't have the time to swtich back to SL I have found you can pull logic out of the lag by right clicking the app from the dock and clicking the current arrange tab. Seems to stop it immeditately. Not sure if someone had clocked this already....
Fingers crossed for Logic 10...
Michael
changing desktop with a 2 fingers sweep also works !!!

"Mouse Over" issues in Logic Pro - Mountain Lion
Hi,
Since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I spotted an issue with Logic Pro (Logic 9).
In the Arrange window, when pointing the mouse at the end of a region, the pointer icon doesn't change to the looping (upper right corner of the region) or resize (lower right corner) icon.
As a result, those functionalities (looping and resizing regions) are gone.
Anyone having the same issue?
Is there a way to solve this or do we need to wait for a Logic Pro update to get these back?
Thanks in advance,
A nice day everyone,
VinceVlvl wrote:
As it's the only problem I have noticed since the upgrade, and as I mentioned in my last post, looking like a minor problem to me, I will keep Mountain Lion.
But anyway, thanks for the advice, Ivan.

No problem, as a professional musician using Logic I learned that lesson the hard way first time around. Hard as it was to not have the toys I soon learned that stability ruled the day.... -
My new macbook pro (Mountain Lion 10.8.1) will not log into my 1and1 outgoing mail server. ( It will receive mail - but does not send)My old Snow Leopard macbook does not have the same problem ( server settings etc. are identical) . Apple Support say its a 1and1 problem , 1and1 say it is an operating System prob - I have tried changing port numbers.
My eyes just glazed over...Please in the future break down each of your issues with paragraphs separated by two carriage returns. It would be much easier when trying to address your issues.
Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Mouse
And edit your mouse settings to do what you want it to do.
Secondly, this is not the place to vent. If you have a complaint, there is:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/
or http://www.apple.com/contact/
We are just end users here helping other end users.
Third, from my understanding, it would appear you are concerned about the noise the hard drive makes when it falls asleep? Why not put your machine in screen saver mode instead? Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver turn off all Energy Saver settings, or set them to run Never.
Fourth, if your machine was purchased just a few days ago, you may still be able to get an exchange from the store, quicker than you can get a repair done. You may want to look into that possibility.
Fifth, it does appear you found the Logic forum. I would persist in asking there how to solve your technical issue with Logic regarding the audio. It may be you don't have to do anything special to the hard drive. Remember audio can be transmitted by wire, avoiding ambient sounds.
Good luck! -
Mountain Lion Fixed 24/192 digital out or still 24/96?
Seems running Windows on a Mac the chip set puts out 24/192 audio. If that is true, has Mountain Lion "fixed" this issue? If the hardware is capable of 24/192, why handicap it ?! Anyone with information on Mac digital audio output with Mountain Lion? Thanks in advance. Actually running 10.7.4, not 10.6.8...update profile needed...
I am running Mountain Lion on Mac Pro (early 2009) and the Audio MIDI Setup does not allow more than 24/96 for both Toslink and USB to my DAC - but it may be different on your machine.

How do I install/upgrade iWork 2005 on my new MacBook Pro / Mountain Lion?
I just bought a new MacBook Pro (converted back from Windows) and installed an old version of iWork (2005) I purchased years ago, hoping to upgrade it. It didn't install properly as it only shows a folder in Finder/Apps, with a couple of docs in the folder and doesn't show up as an app for Upgrade. The guy that upgraded my MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion at the Apple Store told me this should work.
1) How do I install iWork 2005 on my MacBook Pro / Mountain Lion?
2) How do I upgrade it without having to purchase a new copy?
Thanks! You cannot link any version of iWork installed from a retail disk or trial to the Mac App Store.
You install iWork '05 on your new Mac just as you always have, making sure you have the serial number to enter. But the iWork apps are very reasonably priced on the Mac App Store & have come a very long way in 7 years. And now Numbers is available for spreadsheets. -
HT4245 my iMessage on my macbook pro mountain lion won't work.
this is a very frustrating problem
my iMessage on my macbook pro mountain lion won't work.
it keeps on saying that ive entered the wrong passcode.
i even have my firewall turned off
plz helpOk...
So I bought my MacBook Pro second hand, and it came with no installation discs, but I got Mountain Lion and had it installed and decided to back it up to a disc in case of this scenario. I followed some instructions to make a bootable disc and used it to install a fresh copy of Mountain Lion back when I first got it.
My problem is that without the boot partition of my MacBook's hard drive it doesn't seem to want to boot the disc.
Since I didn't want to buy a disc and I don't have another MacBook or know anyone near me that does, I decided to download a hackintosh iso and use it along with my other laptop to install iPC 10.5.6....this installed successfully and my hopes were that my MacBook would be able to boot it, so I reinstalled my MacBook's hard drive and to my surprise it booted, although not normally. Since it is hackintosh it has some rewritten boot features so it's not a true OSX, but it is fully functional. Since I finally had OSX booted I figured I was in the clear and would be able to install Mountain Lion from this, but then I found out that you have to have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or later in order to install Mountain Lion.
Now I'm stuck with a hactintosh version of Lion and still no way to get back to Mountain Lion, is there anything I can do now that I have a functional OSX installation? -
Audio input, Logic Pro with Lion
When I change my Audio input, I have to reboot my computer for the change to work. I am using Logic Pro with Lion on a macbook Pro. I am switching between a Mbox Mini3 and a Blue Yeti Mic. Is this normal?
What happens if you disable, then enable "software monitoring"?
I would imagine it has more to do with Avid's Core Audio drivers for the MBox.
Also, this is a personal preference: I never have the Mac using the pro-audio interfaces, only Logic.
In Audio-Midi Setup and in System Preferences/Sound I only have "Built-In Audio" selected, my recording interface is for use with Logic only. -
My sister can't find Pages on her Macbook Pro Mountain Lion, can someone help?
My sister is new to her MacBook Pro Mountain Lion and thinks she may have deleted the Pages program. She's away at college for the first time and needs this program. I've told her to use Finder and search for Pages, or look in her applications, but to no avail. Help?
How did she acquire Pages in the first place?
If it was a purchase from the Mac App Store, all she need to do is launch App Store (from the menu is easiest), sign in with the Apple ID & password used, click on 'purchases' & click the INSTALL button to the right of Pages in the list.
If it was from a retail DVD she will need the DVD to reinstall. -
Mac Pro Mountain Lion Kernel Panic Dual Video Cards
I've been getting constant panics since upgrading to Mountain lion on my 2009 Mac Pro.
Worth noting is I have dual GT 120 Video Cards and dual 30" LCDs. Every panic seems to be caused by com.apple.NVDAResman
This computer has been rock solid since 2009 and only after "updating" to Mountain Lion has it become unstable.
Was hoping 10.8.1 and 10.8.2 would fix the issued, but neither have. It's worse than ever. Crashing every day.
Already reinstalled the OS, tested the RAM, etc. No change. Still crashes everyday.
What should I do? It's really eating into productivity...

Internet Sharing on MacBook Pro, Mountain Lion
I am having trouble enabling internet sharing on my macbook pro with os x mountain lion, version 10.8.3. My computer is connected to the internet from an ethernet cord, and I want to share the connection with my iphone wirelessly. I have tried going to system preferences > sharing > internet sharing. From here I chose "Ethernet" from the dropdown menu "Share your connection from." I chose "Wi-Fi" from the ports options under "To computers using." (AirPort is NOT an option listed under the ports menu). When I then check the internet sharing box to enable the sharing, a message pops up saying "To share your Internet connection, you must turn on Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is turned off." Obviously, I don't have Wi-Fi, so I can't do this. How do I fix this problem?? Please help!!
No, I don't have Wi-Fi. There is no Wi-Fi in this building. If there were, I wouldn't need to share my internet through the ethernet cord.

i recently bought a new 15" retina/mountain lion laptop after researching to be sure that i would be able to use the existing software that i have.
Logic being the most important that i use. i saw there was issues with Loci 8 and mountain lion, and that upragind to Logic 9 would solve the issue.
there is a GREATER issue than that. i CAN NOT install Logic 8 on my new machine.
HOW DO I USE THE ABILITY TO UPGRADE WHEN I CAN INSTALL MY ORIGINAL PURCHASED COPY. i have two weeks left, if the only solution offered to fix this is to BUY Logic 9 after spending as much as i did on the machines and software....this machine will be going back and might have to reconsider the whole apple thing.
someone please help me out. i REALLY dont wanna change machines again.
thanks
peteIntriguing, someone left it on "works fine" on http://roaringapps.com/app:402 for both Lion and Mountain Lion on version 7.2.3, yet when you look at the versions 7, 8, and 9 of Logic Express under the Versions section of the website, nobody was able to get it to work. Given that is the case, I edited the status to "some problems." I'll ask your post get redirected to the Logic Express forum to get the facts.

Logic 9 + Mountain Lion = Performance Problems
Hi,
After months of debating to upgrade to Mountain Lion, I did it (and regret it like iOS 6).
I'm just wondering if anyone gets the issue with Logic 9, where it works for around an hour no problems, then the CPU meter goes mental and causes glitching in the audio no matter what I/O buffer size I choose, or what sample rate my projects in, OR how many plugins/instruments I have open?
It's really starting to affect my clients as to solve the problem the OS needs a full reboot.
I am fully updated in Software Update and it worked perfectly until Mountain Lion.
Hope there is a solution!
TimYour question is too vague... More details are required...

Will reinstalling mountain lion fix image retention
After installing mavericks i started getting image retention so i was wondering if reinstalling mountain lion will fix my problem.
It's unlikely that has a thing to do with OS version. But it you wish to reinstall Mountain Lion:
Erase the drive.
Reinstall Mountain Lion from a backup.
Since your computer can run Mavericks you will no longer be able to re-download Mountain Lion. However, if Mountain Lion was pre-installed on your computer, then you may be able to reinstall it by going through an Internet Recovery:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This may restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer. -
I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and for some reason, the automatic backlight keyboard will not funtion as it should. When I have the "Adjust keyboard brightness in low light" option enabled in settings, and I turn on the lights, my backlight keyboard stays at full brightness. Then, when I turn off the keyboard, then the lights, the keyboard does not turn on! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I am pretty sure that this was a feature in the MBP lines.
Try a SMC reset. Shut down the computer. Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected. On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time. Release all the keys and the power button at the same time. Press the power button to turn on the computer. Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

Frequent Panic Attacks for my Mac Book Pro Mountain Lion 10.8.5
Hi All,
My mac book pro with OSX mountain lion 10.8.5 has kernel panic attacks randomly couple of times a day.
I have no idea why or when it gets trigerred. I dont have any third party drivers or extensions installed (except for upgrading to 16gigs of memory).
I have already reimaged my hard-disk ( took a apple genius appointment and they did it for me).
But issue persists after that.
Can anyone look at the panic report below and tell me what the issue could be ?
