Logic Pro Serial Issues

Recently purchased a new macbook pro. Transferred files over using migration asssistant. Now when i start up logic pro. It asks me for the "original serial number" the one i put in is not working. How do I fix this??
(Old Macbook was running on 10.5.8)
(Updated from logic 8 to 9.... 2 years ago.)

Check that you entered the number correctly, e.g. a zero and an Oh are different. Also make sure you enter the right serial number for this product, not an old one. And a last one, if everything else doesn't solve it: you might want to "google" you serial number, if it was stolen, Apple probably blocked it.

  • Logic Pro 9 issues

I recently had to re-install my LP 9, after having to install a new hard drive. It worked without having to use the serial number. (Because I lost the box). Anyway, today it asked for the serial number. Doesn't Apple usually keep info like that on file?

    Alrighty,
Erik, your method work, and I could record perfectly fine when I disabled software monitoring. I started a fresh project, and everything worked fine, and latency was workable with. However, I closed and open the project 30 mins later and back to sqaure one. I disabled software monitoring, and it works fine again.
Do you think my "returning to work" issue is more of Logic Pro been all derpy *****, or its my interface?

  • Lost Logic Pro Serial Number and Install Disks, can they be replaced?

I accidentally threw out my install disks and manuals (including the booklet with the serial number) for Logic Pro 8! I believe have registered this product. I think I can simply download the installation files but I will need the SN#. Is my serial number linked to my apple account? Can I find this online somewhere?
I also use pro tools and there is a special section on the website just for this type of thing. I am hoping there is the same kind of thing with apple but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
    Thanks in advance for your ultimate awesomeness in helping resolve this issue for me and the rest of the idiots :}

Have you searched this forum? The question comes up every three or four days.
You can call up Apple and provide them with valid proof of purchase, and they will provide you with a new code.
They'll probably send you disks as well, for a fee.
I severely doubt that an official download is an option, as the whole package is somewhere around 45GB.

  • Logic Pro 8 Issues, Error Messages

    Hi all.
I've been having a variety of problems with my home recording studio, which i have neglected to post about until now- from what i've read it seems no-one knows how to fix them. I'm turning to the MacTalk community to resolve my woes... First things first, here's the gear:
     MacBook Pro (mid-2008), 2.4GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, OS X 10.5.6.
 I use Logic Pro 8 primarily, and this is where all the errors are popping up. I record to WAV, 24-bit, 48KHz (for the sake of diagnosing errors, I have tried 16-bit, 44.1KHz and noticed no difference).
 All audio-related work is handled on a WD MyStudio External FW800 HDD.
 My audio interfaces are an Apogee Duet, and an M-Audio ProFire 2626 (both running latest drivers).
Now, there are 3 (possibly related) problems i'm having with my setup.
    ✖ Problem #1
I receive an error message indicating a 'System Overload' at random times during playback and occasionally recording.
It halts the audio, and I need to click play or record again. Sometimes it happens again and again, other times it’s just a one-off. This problem can occur with either the Duet or ProFire interface. Apparently the number of tracks I’m recording or playing is irrelevant, as it happens under many different circumstances.
    ✖ Problem # 2
I receive an error message telling me that the “Drive is too slow, error -10004”, and this happens only in recording (I think; oh and it looks like the previous dialogue box). As mentioned above, I use a FW800 external HDD, so it shouldn’t be a hardware requirements issue – it SHOULD be fine as far as I know. It was particularly bad when I was recording 5 channels of audio into the ProFire 2626. Like the previous issue, it halts the recording, and sometimes recurs. It may not happen with the Duet.
I may be imagining things, but I think it records fine indefinitely when I’m recording near-silence, i.e. not playing my drums. It almost seems as though the problem is triggered when I get particularly loud. Perhaps it’s clipping, I’ll have to check. Still, it shouldn’t cause an error that halts recording should it?
    ✖ Problem #3
This one only occurs with the ProFire. I get minor crackles and little bits of distortion and ugly tearing sounds in some channels occasionally. They each only last a fraction of a second, and usually aren’t particularly loud, but they spoil takes. Can occur during silent passages OR loud parts.
For the record, I typically record to WAV, 24-bit, 48KHz, with a 128 or 256 sample buffer, Medium Process Buffer Range, and Software Monitoring enabled. However, I have tried up to 1024 sample buffer, Large Process Buffer Range, 16-bit, 44.1KHz WAV, and turned off Software Monitoring – none of this made a difference.
So, if anyone thinks they can help me out here, please do so! I’ll greatly appreciate any input ☺
    Cheers,
    Chris

This problem points to a buffer that is set too low. Make it one step bigger, but leave the I/O safety buffer OFF.
also: you can disable the warning message.
    2.
CAN also be buffer-related, but it may be the disk. Is it a 5400 or 7200 RPM disk?
It may also be that memory is too full. I would recommend installing Menumeters (freeware) http://www.pure-mac.com/diag.html#menumeters
You can monitor CPU-use, disk activity, memory use, paging activity and network activity with it.
Another thing to consider is to Freeze all Software Instrument tracks before recording. Also freeze heavily 'insert-pluginned' audio tracks. This may free up a lot of CPU power.
    3. This problem might benefit from the above tips as well, but I think you can win the most by NOT using software monitoring when recording (for all three issues); it brings extra latency and puts much more strain on the CPU. Through which plugs do you monitor? And why?
I'ld recommend using the direct monitoring capabilities of both your interfaces, and avoid Software Monitoring when recording. Also being aware of what is going on (by using both Menumeters AND Logics' own CPU-meters) can be crucial - especially Paging (when active RAM is written to or read from disk) can disturb Logic, as well as background OS X applications that kick in during a session.
I also recommend turning off Journaling before a recording session. To do that, open *Disk Utility*, select the recording disk from its' list, hold down the ⌥ key and choose the menu *File>Disable Journaling*.
To turn it back on after recording, same actions, only now the menu item will say *Enable Journaling*.
    regards, Erik.

  • Logic Pro Serial Number

My macbook was stolen and I just got a new one. The Time Machine Feature allowed me to put everything onto my new mac and my Logic Pro seems to be installed. When I try to open it, a prompt asks me for a serial number. I have entered the part number from my receipt and every number listed on the barcode sticker on the small box containing my Logic discs, but each gets an invalid number response. I`m out of the U.S. right now and the huge box that the discs and manuals came in is back home. Is that the place I could find the serial number? Is there any way to get the serial number using other identification that I have, my .mac account, purchase receipt, etc?

Assuming you bought it from apple; just call them and explain. I had a similar problem with license keys except that my CDs simply never came in the post even though my imac came pre-installed and I had ordered it as part of a bundle - in my case it was Logic Express. I called Apple, they took some details, and within about 30 minutes I had one of their support guys email me my license key.
I was very impressed, no fuss, nothing. Eventually 3 weeks overdue the CDs turned up - can't necessarily blame apple for that as the rest of what I ordered arrived a week early.

  • Logic Pro Serial

just bought a new apple laptop. have logic pro 9 on my imac but i no longer have the orignal serial due to moving and what not. i purchased the pro 9 upgrade not realizing i didnt have the old stuff i needed. how would i obtain the old serial?

If it is a legal valid version of Logic Pro 9 the Logic 9 serial can be found by going to the Logic Pro Menu Bar and clicking on Logic Pro/About Logic Pro and the window that opens should show the serial.
However, as Blueberry said, if for some reason you are using either a Volume License or an illegal copy, the serial will not show there.
You also will need to open Logic Pro 8 as I explained earlier.. to get the original Logic Pro 8 serial as that will be needed too as you said your Logic Pro 9 was an upgrade version. Logic 9 on the new computer will then ask for the original Logic Pro 8 serial and the your Logic Pro 9 upgrade serial.

  • Logic Pro Metering Issues

currently working on a song, snare drum channel meter infrequently will not register a snare hit eventhough audio is playing at that moment - this does not happen at the same point in the song each time....kinda weird, hope you may have some insight.
I've copied the audio region in question to another track, and I still get this same behavior
The source of the track was a compilation from a drum comp which was then flattened and  merged to become one new track
Running MacBook pro i5 snow leopard
    Thanks for any input!

  • Finding Logic Pro Serial Number w/o Install Disk

I installed Logic Studio Version 9 a long time ago, and until now, have had no problem moving the application from computer to computer. However, after recently migrating all my stuff from a Macbook running Lion to an iMac running Mountain Lion, I can't open Logic. It asks me for a serial number I've long since lost track of, from an instal disk I no longer have. Is there any place within the installed software itself to locate the serial number?

I lost my Logic 9 serial, i had moved house and we were flooded out about 6 months before i lost it and had to chuck a lot of paperwork out that was caught in the water.  I wanted to put it on to my new mac, and like a fool i had uninstalled it from my older iMac so was left with nothing but the disks.
Contacted Apple and they were no help whatsoever for me, i was really annoyed with them, complained and hit a brick wall where they couldn't offer to help as i could find no receipt either, never offered to check their system for me.
Luckily i had put the serial number in my old iMac box, which i didn't discover until a few weeks later, along with the receipt.
I was so pleased to find it!   ...but i do resent Apple a little after my dealings, really felt hung out to dry.  As LP9 had just appeared on the app store at the time i did wonder if they were trying to drop any 'old school' boxed LP9/Logic Studio enquiries.
If they do provide you with a new serial, i beleive there's a fee for it too from my correspondance so it may be worth checking out what that is first, and whether you're best putting that into Logic Pro X.
Also, if you have Logic running on any of your old machines i think you can go to the About menu and it's displayed on there.

  • Can I access my logic pro serial number online with my apple ID?

I recently upgraded my computer from a mac book to an imac. When I go to open logic pro on it I am prompted to re enter my serial number. I have misplaced the box with the software in it. Is there some way for me to get my serial number online using my apple ID?

Generic info can be found here: http://www.apple.com/support/proapps/serialnumbers/
Pro Application Replacement Serial Numbers have to be requested from Apple Sales Support: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1861

What happens when you try to open the folder containing the samples directly in the Finder? Does it open okay and display the samples?
It sounds like the directory structure of your external has become corrupted. That should also be evident if you navigate to any of the error producing folders in the Finder.
Have you tried the *Verify Disk* followed by the *Repair Disk* function in Disk Utility?

If that doesn't help, you may need DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro to repair that.

  • Logic Pro 9: Playhead/Playback/Audio Levels/Logic Pro X Issue, PLEASE HELP!

When I press play within the project, the playhead doesn't move from left to right with the audio like it should. As well as within the mix window, the audio levels are not displayed. However, when I click and hold within the arrange window, everything is fine and working properly, but I'm not going to be holding down the mouse the whole time I'm working on a project.
Does anybody have any sort of advice for me at all?
Also, if I were to buy Logic Pro X, would all of my projects currently running in Logic Pro 9 be able to open up in Logic Pro X? I also have the Waves Mercury Bundle, Vangard and Antares Auto-Tune, would all of those work with Logic Pro X?

  • Logic Pro Installation Issue

I recently had to wipe my MacBook and reinstall.  When attempting to install Logic Pro, I am getting an error stating that the installation failed because there is no software found.  The DVD is fine.  What do i do now?

    Retry, it worked for me!

  • I don't have a Logic Pro serial number

I just purchased Logic Studio V2.1 UPGRADE PRO from a German Apple reseller and I cannot use it because I have to own a previous version of Logic (which makes sense since it's an upgrade).
I never had a previous version before (that's my mistake). I'm using Logic for the fist time and I don't have an old serial number.
Is there something I can do? What are my options?
I really need this software. I'm on a macbook (mid 2007) and I cannot upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

Everything worked out fine. I followed your advice and found an older version of Logic on ebay. I've installed the upgrade.
Thank you so much for your time Blueberry, I really appreciate it... Bye!!!

  • Roland TD4SX, Addictive Drums 1.5 and Logic Pro 9 issues

I have been using AD and Logic with my Roland Drum kit for a little while now and while the automatic mapping from kit to plugin is working for the most part, Logic seems to kill the midi coming from one of the pads (the middle tom 45(A2)) and I'm not sure why. It requires me to remap this pad to another midi key to get it to work. I could only assume that Logic has taken this midi key for its own use but I have no idea how to find out what it is mapped to and how to remove that mapping. Anyone know how to debug this issue?
I believe this is an issue with Logic specifically. The reason I know this is because that pad and the kit in its default mapping work perfectly in Ableton Live but not in Logic.

You might find that you have inadvertently 'learned' A2 as a controller assignment. Open the *Controller Assignments* window ⌘-K, and delete the learned message that is 90 39 Lo7 (A2).
