Logic Pro slower on 2011 MBP than 2008 MacBook? Especially with NI Kontakt

Hi I just got a new MacBook Pro, late 2011 model, and I was really stoked but I've come to find Logic Pro runs slower in general than on my old MacBook (not pro, mid-2008 model). I know the MBP is a faster computer but I can't figure out why Logic is so slow and I was wondering if you guys could help me out with some optimization or answers. The main issue lies in Kontakt, which I was able to run far more instances of on my old macbook than my new MBP. I frequently get system overload despite having more cores on the CPU and the same memory.
Below are the differences:
2011 MBP (stock)
Logic Pro 9.1.6 64-bit
NI Kontakt 5 (4-8 instances)
NI Pro-53 (2-3 instances) through 32-bit AU bridge
NI Massive through 32-bit AU bridge
2008 MB (stock, except 4GB memory upgrade)
Logic Pro 9.1.0 (32-bit)
NI Kontakt 4 (8+ instances no problem)
NI Massive (2-6) instances

I'd also add that when running large native instrument sample libraries, they advise (in the start up guide) to install large sample libraries on a dedicated hard drive. If you have a FireWire 400/800 drive, it might be worth it to install kontakts huge library on there and see if that frees up some CPU. Trying to run logic / the plugin applications, the sample libraries and your recorded audio/logic files on one drive will severely hurt your CPU performance.
I know is doesn't really answer why you'd be faster/more stable on your old Mac, but might help you get the most out of your new machine.

Guys, I've solved my problem about that error -10202 (Selected driver not found).
I have installed in my Mac Pro (OS X 10.5.8) a document with an extension ".rsrc" to correct the position of the accents in my keyboard, like acute accent, tilde and circumflex.
That file is called "U.S. - International.rsrc" and it's stored in the following path:
"Macintosh HD/Library/Keyboard Layouts"
So, when it's properly installed, I can choose 2 country flags on the right side of the menu bar (U.S. - International and Brazilian).
That's the clue!
When I pick up "U.S. - International", my keyboard works fine with the accents, >>>BUT<<< Logic Pro 9 doesn't recognize my audio driver; and when I pick up "Brazilian", my keyboard doesn't work with the accents exactly as it shows me on each key, BUT Logic Pro 9 DOES recognize my audio driver.
So, when I want to write anything out, I will pick up the "US - International" and when I want to work on the Logic Pro 9, I will pick up "Brazilian".

Forget Logic Pro 8 on your new macbook, it will not work. The "upgrade" to LPX will cost you around 200 bucks and can be acquired via the App Store.

Logic Pro slow after SSD and mountain lion update.

1 week ago i was mixing a project of 90 tracks, and every run really well, no "system overloads" at all.
Sometimes the 320gb 5400rpm HDD give away a message that it was running a little slow and had a hard time dealing with all the 90 tracks, but it still work'd well.
3 days ago i installed a new samsung 830 256GB SSD and updated from lion to mountain lion and wow!
Everything is really fast, except logic pro.
Im now running a project with only 35 audio tracks with EQ,compressor and 2 busses with reverb.
It should work fine, SSD with 2,3 dualcore i5 cpu and 8gb ram but no, i am only able to play a quarter of a secound before i get the anoying "system overload" message....
Does somebody know what could be wrong? Mixing is my job soo this is a real problem for me.

Are you getting sudden motion sensor related stops? It may be best to tern your SMS off, as there is no need for SMS in a drive with no moving parts.

if there is no mention of the SMS I wouldn't bother although, no harm would be done if you did anyway.
You disable SMS by doing the following:
Launch Terminal
Type the following at the command line: sudo pmset -a sms 0
Hit return and enter your password

Logic Pro X only plays through display speakers, no issue with Logic 9

When I use Logic Pro X, my sound will not play through external speakers or headphones, only through my thunderbolt display.
If I go ahead and use Logic Pro 9, I can play through the display, speakers, or headphones.
Any idea what is going on here?

Logic Pro and Upgrade to Mountain Lion/New MacBook Pro

At some point in the near future, I plan on buying one of the new MacBook Pros (non-retina display). I currently have the mid-2009 model, 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 15-inch, 4 GB of RAM. Not this is terrible, but I would like to take advantage of the increased processing power with newer MacBook Pros because I constantly use Logic Pro for many different projects.
My question is, how do I make a smooth transition from one piece of hardware to the next? For many of the audio files and such that make up all of the different instruments in Logic Pro, I'm not even completely sure where they are all installed. Some files are in one directory, some are in others. Not to mention plug-ins and things of that nature. Any advice?

Dead-slow Early 2011 MBP performance

Hi, all. I'm trying to figure out why my Early-'11 15" MBP is running so slowly. Even the simplest tasks are causing serious hangups.
These are the things I have tried to no avail:
Shut it down and cleared the SMC. The SMC cleared but that did not do anything to alievate the problem.
Checked my HDD capacity and how much space I have left (250/500GB used)
Cleaned up my Desktop.
Ran Disk Utility---> Verified Disk, Repaired Permissions
Turned off all of my startup applications and restarted.
Other notes: The hangups happen when I'm plugged in or not.
I want to try other suggestions before I take it into the Genius Bar for a diagnostic.

Fixing disk permissions is not relevant, old hat.
1. Make backups, and/or a TM backup is possible.
2. a.You may try to start DiskUtility and do a "verify disk": if that displays problems, shutdown the computer and then start while holding CMD+R: it will display the boot menu (takes some time) and then you choose the Recovery Disk, then from that menu choose DiskUtility, and do the "repair disk".
2.b. If that does come with problems, you have to prepair for a new disk. Stop using the MBP, as long it is not completely dead.
3. If the repair disk is OK in step 2b, close DiskUtility (still in the recovery disk) and choose Recover OS. Do the recovery, will leave your data alone.
4. After the Recovery the MBP will start up: download and run a tool called Etrecheck from www.etresoft.com, it will present a list about your system (no personal info): copy paste into your replay here.

Logic pro 7 not saving Phatmatik parameters on Macbook Pro

Hi was wondering if anyone else is having this problem, when i load a sample into phatmatik in Logic 7 and use the midi file in my song everything is fine and working as it should. The problem is when i save the song and come back to it, Phatmatik does not play the sample, the sample is loaded in Phatmatik but a lot of its parameters change like the tuning and volume etc, when i press reset on Phatmatik then it plays the sample but all my settings (filters etc) will have been reset.
I've tried trashing Phatmatiks prefs but that didn't work and repairing permissions, anyone have any ideas what it might be or is anyone else experiencing this on a Macbook Pro?
I have Phamatik on my G5 but i've never had this problem on that!
Maybe something simple i'm not getting!

Have you tried reporting the Phatmatik issue to Izotope? Perhaps it's a bug, or something?

Slow boot on mbp running 10.6.4 with progress bar

My Macbook pro running 10.6.4 has recently become slow on boot up.
When i do a clean boot or restart i see a progress bar on the apple logo which now seems to take a minute or so to load.
I've never seen this before.
I've tried things such as PRAM reset, cache clears, etc
disk utility isn't showing any hard drive errors
any suggestions?

You can check for any boot arguments in your /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist
If you have any Kernel Flags your Mac will observe it when booting, mine has no Kernel Flags.
You can read about it by using de command line "man com.apple.Boot.plist" in your /Applications/Utilities/Terminal application. After reading hit Q key to quit the manual displaying and use "exit" before quitting Terminal.

MBP Display flicks off while using Logic Pro and external monitor

Hi there
I have the MBP conected to my external 19" monitor. While running Logic Pro 7.2 the MBP will, for no apparent reason, turn its diplay off and logic will crash. The external monitor will still be on. And I can still move the mouse onto this monitor.
I then have to hold down the start button to force the machine to restart. This only started to happen after 3 months, but now it happens twice a week or so.
Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Reverting to 10.4.6 solved my issues.

Logic Pro Fans are louder just by opening Logic on quad core MBP

I have the latest logic pro running on a new Quad core macbook pro. I migrated logic from my previous dual core machine to preserve all the preferences and plugins etc...
When I startup logic, without loading anything at all the fans start to get louder...
Is this normal?
Could it be a glitch from importing logic from the old machine?
Any suggestions would be great.

I have just checked Logic CPU usage and it says its only using 2.9%, yet the fans still go crazy...
