Logic Pro X: Downloading Additional Content Glitch

Everything works fine except for LEGACY GarageBand 1 Instruments & Sounds.... it gets to 96% (Approx. by the Blue Bar) and gets stuck there.
When I try to Quit I cannot... Logic Pro wont Quit while the DL is stuck so i had to Force Quit.
When I Go Back to Download Content it Shows as Everything Is Installed... But Legacy GarageBand 1 wants to Pick up where it Left off at 96% and gets stuck there once again.
Please Advise...

OKay Never Mind I got all the Additional Content... perhaps it was an internet connection problem... I Used Mainstage 3 to get all additional content and Logic pro X reindexed and understood that everything was downloaded and installed...
No More messages when I start Logic about unfinished downloads when I launch it...
Everything seems to be working fine now...
Also I had some Very Old Garage Band Jam Packs which apparently were incomplete... so I deleted all the Old Jam Packs and deleted all the indexing files from 2 locations App Support/Garage Band and App Supprort/Apple
so now Garageband and Logic Pro X 7 Main Stage know where all the Jam Packs are.... See other posts that explain this in detail i.e. Garage Band Community.

  • Logic Pro and downloading additional content trouble.

I just downloaded the latest Logic Pro and opted to download all additional content. Some of the content that finished downloading would ask for my password to finish the download and others would say "cannot be completed" or something like that... When I'm in Logic Pro, if I want to use "Electo-trance" drums, it cannot be found. Did I do something wrong? also, I have 650g of space and computer is only used for school work.

There is another possible fix that I have just been made aware of, thanks to Apple Tech Support...
Go into Energy Saving in System preferences.. and temporarily move the two sliders (for screen sleep and computer sleep) to never, uncheck "Put hard Drives to sleep whenever possible" and then download additional content..
When the downloads are complete, put back these settings to their original state...
For some people this has provided another way of avoiding the 'timeout' if it has not been caused by an ISP's max file limit rule...

  • Logic Pro X Downloading additional content issue

    Hello
After several tries I still have not completed a download of additional content.
There is 28.6 GB of content and it has always hung up around 26.5 most annoying, and can't be very good for the bandwidth out of your servers, if I download over 100 GB and fail overtime..
I routinely download relatively large content files so this really seems strange, could it be the content should be divided up into smaller packages?

  • Logic Pro X: Install additional content on external hard drive?

    Hi all,
I'm just wondering if there are any new, official ways to ask Logic Pro X to store the additional content that is downloaded to a different location (e.g., an external hard drive). So far I haven't found anything in the documentation (though maybe I missed it).
    Thanks

I got it working with symbolic link.
It's very easy and this is how I did it:
    1. Download this for free:
    https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/10433/symboliclinker
    2. Copy original 'Logic' Folder located in /Volumes/"DRIVE NAME"/Application Support/ on the desired external drive and location. This is the location where all your additional content is beeing installed to.
    3. You can delete the original folder or rename it and use it as a backup.
    4. Use the symbolic link tool to create a symbolic link from the 'Logic' file which has been copied to your external drive.
Place the link (which looks like an alias) to its previous destination (/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Application Support/) and rename it to 'Logic'.
    5. After this you will be able to download additional content.
    6. Be aware if you want to download 30 GB of content and your SSD has just 20GB free space, it will show you the same error message because it stores the download file still on your SSD until installation is done. The solution for this is to download everything part by part.
Maybe there is a simpler solution. This was very quick and easy for me. Logic 9 and 10 both work still.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks rhoydotp,
The download was actually the successful part!  I had no issues with it timing out or anything.  My problem was the actual install, after the download was complete.  The installer just stopped about a quarter of the way up on "Alternative Kits" and never made it to any of the other kits.  I think I'll try installing them one at a time like you said, and see what happens.  Hopefully it works!

  • Downloading additional content appears successful, but nothing has actually installed

I have been trying to download all the additional content for Logic for the past week. Initially, I began downloading everything together. This resulted in windows popping up saying 'download not successful' or 'unable to complete download'. Subsequently, I started downloading the packages a few at a time and this seemed to work perfectly. Although it took a long time, the download completed, and upon entering my password, began installing the new content. However, none of the new content has been updated in my Logic library. It simply cannot be found.
This is extremely frustrating. I need Logic for my work and changed to this software after hearing so many good things about the product. Downloading additional content should not be this difficult.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a mill

    Erik,
I think it refers to...  if you move the Logic Pro App to a different drive... after install.. as I found out last week with one of my clients... who couldn't find the additional content after install.
I don't believe you can actually install Logic from the App Store, to a different drive other that the system drive.. But you can move it.. after install..and run it.. but with all the various issues including updating incorrectly etc.. that doing that can cause!

  • Downloading additional content on OS X 10.10

    Hi,
I'm experiencing a strange situation with Logic Pro X 10.0.7 on OS X 10.10 regarding additional content.
I'm quite sure that I have selected everything in the "Download addition content" when I started my download and I think this screenshot confirm my theory:
As you can see if I presse "Select All Uninstalled" button nothing is selected, so it seems that everything is already downloaded and installed, but as I click on one of this content the button "Install" turn enabled and if I click it would start downloading it!
Moreover if I open some song I get a warning that there are contents that are missing and have to be downloaded. For example "Standby House Beat" loop and "Euro Basic Beat" loop are missing (I know since I got in one of my songs).
Are you experiencing the same problem?
    Thank you.

I've tried to reindexing the loops as you suggest, but I still missing some loops! So for example when I open my song the loop "Euro Basic Beat 4" is missing while "Euro Basic Beat 2" is available.
I don't how to solve and I would like to avoid downloading everything again!!!
All loops and instruments seem to be downloaded now:
    So what can I do?
    Thank you.

  • How do I Download Additional Content

Hi...I've got a MacBook Pro running OS X Mountain Lion fully patched and updated. I'm not usually a Mac user but I'm fairly comfortable with it when I do...I know enough to be a Power User. I purchased/downloaded Mainstage 3 today. It prompted me after the install to Download Additional Content but I had to restart due to some other updates I was running so I just figured I'd be able to do it when I was finished with the restart.
Now, when Mainstage is open, I go to the MainStage 3 menu and the option for Download Additional Content is grayed out. Why is that. What am I missing. I figure I'm just missing something easy. I've perused the various support forums and manuals and haven't figured out why. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I would recomend removing (Deleting) Mainstage and re-install from the App store, keep in mind the initial install is about 2-3 GB download, and then the additional content is about 30 GB.
To remove a Mac App Store app that appears in Launchpad
Follow these steps while you are logged in with an administrator account:
    Enter Launchpad.
Click and hold on an icon until you see all icons jiggle.
Click the "x" button in the upper-left of the Mac App Store app icon you want to delete.
Note: If you do not see an "x" button, either the app is not from the Mac App Store or you are logged in as a standard user.
Click "Delete" in the confirmation dialog to delete the app.
Tip: If you want to reinstall a deleted app, open Mac App Store, click the Purchases icon, then click on the "Install" button for the app.

  • "Download Additional Content" Does Nothing?

I've been using a trial of FCPX for a while and today I went ahead and purchased it from the App Store.
One of the first things I did was go to the FCPX menu and choose "Download Additional Content," but all this does is take me to the Updates section of the App Store where I am informed that there are no updates.
What's going on here? Do I already have the additional content just by installing FCPX? If so, how can I verify that I have the additional content?
Thanks in advance for your help.

For anyone who has this problem in the future: just wait, and the update will eventually show up in the Updates section of the App Store. I had installed FCPX to my MacBook Air to see if I could get the "Download Additional Content" to work there, but it didn't. However, this morning (almost 24 hours later), I have a notification in the App Store that the Supplemental Content 1.0 update is ready to install. Lesson learned.

  • I am having trouble downloading additional content.

I am having trouble downloading additional content.I t gets about 1/4 the way complete then freezes and says that it can't download the content and to check the internet connection. Checked internet connection numerous times with other devices as well as with the provder and there is nothing wrong with the connection. I have even tried streaming music at the same time I try to download the content and it still disconnects while the streaming has no problem.
    Any Help?

... doublechecking to see if I'm reading your tags right, Sexy ... are you getting an error 2 when you go to launch iTunes after the install?
If so, is it saying that Apple Application Support cannot be found?
What Windows OS are you using? XP, Vista or 7?
