Logic pro x export audio to movie

Hi!
I'm running into problems when exporting a quicktime movie from Logic Pro X with a cue. The weird thing is, on my computer, the exported video plays back properly (outside of logic) with the music, and everything is fine and well – but when I send that file to the director, there is no music in it!! On her computer it only has the films SFX track. I saw other threads about trouble actually getting the audio to export, but I think I'm doing that fine.
Here's what I've been doing:
Bounce all music together with the film's audio track, so that ALL the audio is on one track.
Click export audio to movie, select the track.
Am I missing something? This is super weird.
I'm using Logic Pro X, on Yosemite 10.10.1
Thanks in advance!
Mike

First of all, did you listen back to the QUickTIme file after the bounce? Are you saying that you hear you score and when the director plays "the same" quicklime file" she hears only the SFX? That would be strange, unless she opened the quicktime file and messed around in the properties window.
About the Movie export. You don't have to bounce your music fist. Whatever your state is at the moment in your Project that is what you "Export to video". There is only one  (often overlooked) step. After you click ok in the Save Dialog, there is one extra "Choose tracks to export" window coming up (see screenshot). It shows you the audio track(s) that are embedded in the original quicktime file. LPX 10.1 now has a new checkbook to make it clear:
Check: You include the original audio track with your mix
Unchecked: You don't include the embedded audio track and only your  Logic mix will end up to be the new audio track of the new quicktime file.
Hope that helps

  • Why doesn't Logic Pro properly export my QuickTime Movies?

I started submitting bug reports and posting to the Logic discussion forum about this six months ago. The Art of Sound suggested I post here, so here's my issue:
I never had this problem in Logic 9 and have no idea why it should be a problem now with 10.0.4 through 10.0.7. I create a ProRes QuickTime with Final Cut Pro X. I check the movie, and it's fine. I open it in LPX, import the audio (I've also tried "extracting" it). I do something simple (and not time-altering) like normalize the audio and add a limiter, then Movie/Export Audio to Movie . Not only is the audio in the new QuickTime consistently a frame or two out-of-sync with the picture, but the new movie also has some duplicate frames, making the new QuickTime longer than the original and progressivlely more out-of-sync. The duplicate frames seem to consistently start occuring about 43 seconds into each QuickTime I've tried in LPX. There is still no problem doing this same process in Logic 9, and I never had that issue doing this kind of thing with Soundtrack (sure wish they'd bring that back!). I'm using all the latest software updates on a 2012 3.4 GHz iMac w/ 16GB RAM (the most you could get at the time without a prescription).
    Any ideas, anybody?

Jim, I just also tried the Export all tracks as audio files command with Normalize on, and it turns out that the separate audio files are treated as one big file as far as normalization is concerned: if the loudest file peaks at, say, -1.8 dB, all files will get 1.8 dB of gain added. They are not individually normalized, which is what the OP is after. While this "mix normalize" is handy to maintain the amplitudinal balance between the tracks (I first thought this was a bug, I now see this is probably by design), in the specific case of the OP this is not what he needs. Also the manual does not explain that this is what happens. Would have saved the OP some time if it had...
So, rbdavis, you can submit a feature request: a Normalize files individually checkbox in the Export all tracks... dialog.

  • Logic Pro X - 64-bit Export Audio to movie

Does any one know if the " Export Audio to Movie " function has been fixed for the new 64-bit only Logic Pro X?
In Logic Pro 9 you could only do this if you ran the program in 32-bit mode and I am concerened as to whether this has been addressed or not before I upgrade.

    hey over there,
i have still problems to export an movie, including my audio tracks i made for the drumvideo! here i load up a .png, showing the "logic conservation" while trying to "export audio to movie" ... i tried both: 32bit and 64 bit
    what i did:
i made a drum video while recording 6 audio tracks in logic, importet the video, made it synchrone to my audio and loops, put a little mix on it and tried to use the function: audio into movie export (chapter 24 in the manuel)

  • Export Audio to Movie - where is that function in Logic 9?

I have noticed that a very useful function in my Logic Pro 8 (version 8.0.2) options/movie/export audio to movie is not found in the Logic 9 version. One of my friends has this version (and an Intel Mac) but I cannot help him working with music and video - I cannot find it anywhere in the Logic 9 menus. Can you help?
    Best, Peter Danstrup

I just opened a quicktime movie. Added an audio track, and am looking for the option indicated in the manual: "Choose File > Export Audio to Movie". Upstream it's indicated that this option only appears if a movie is present. My movie is present, but still this option does not appear?
    Ideas?

  • Logic 9 "Export Audio to Movie" command

What happened to the "Export Audio to Movie" command that used to be under the file menu? This is something I sorely need back.Trying to import audio into Motion 5 is not working out well - even with rendering set at the lowest settings (same with FCP10). I like to be able to see my results as I'm working, not watch choppy playback and guess where to drop in the audio. I'm running an 8 core Mac Pro with 32 G of RAM and I'm wondering if anyone has used a good work around for this problem. I wish I never updated.

I just used Quicktime Player to open the movie and dragged a bounced down version of my Logic audio on top of it. I "Saved As" and it worked fine!

  • Logic bounces unwanted audio when exporting audio to movie

    Hey all,
So as the title says, Logic seems to be bouncing a few tracks that i've now completely deleted from the Logic project. I even removed them from the bin.
Every time I try to export audio to movie these audio tracks come up in the exported .mov. I have no clue why this is happening. Any thoughts?

    Hi
Are these audio tracks that were/are embedded in the movie?
When bouncing to a (new) movie, these audio tracks are automatically included unless you opt out (de-select them).

  • Can't export audio to movie

    Hi
I am trying to add music to some video footage taken with a digital camera. I was unable to extract the audio from the footage onto my arrange window using import audio from movie. I received a message saying "no active extrac
table audio to be found" (though there is audio in the footage). Then when I exported audio to movie I found that the movie was unchanged, the soundtrack I had created did not play and the original audio remained as well.
    Any help would be appreciated.

H,thanks for the advice, I'll try it out tonight. Yeah I bought quick time pro especially to work with film in logic. I am soon to start working on a project with a film student friend of mine. I was literally tearing my hair out for two days figuring I had done something wrong and it turns out that this problem seems to be part of an apple conspiracy to hush up this flaw. That and the fact apple seem barely contactable when there is an issue with one of their problems only adds to the frustration. I expected more I have to say.

  • Export audio to movie - not compatible mp4 !

Hi, I thought Logic X would solve compatibility issues with movie files but I can't "Export Audio to movie" with this format:
    AVC Coding, 1280 x 720
    AAC, 48000 Hz, Stereo (L R)
Logic X seems to do it but spits out files about 21KB small.
Anyone noticed this and knows a solution that does not mean converting the mp4 into a different format? This is terrible, I work with different quicktime files every day..
    Thanks folks,

    Hi Anton
This is a known bug in Logic on the intel macs. We're all hoping this will be fixed in the next version!
    There are a few workarounds...
bounce the audio for your movie. Open it in Quicktime pro. Open the movie in QT pro and you can join the movie and audio with a bit of trial and error.
Easier perhaps, is to use imovie to import the movie and audio separately and then export the movie from there. That's what i normally do.
    As i said, it's a workaround - but it's better than nothing!
    Hope that helps

  • Export Audio to movie causes loud static

    Hello,
If I import a movie (.mov) file into Logic pro 9, add some extra music tracks and then try to "export audio to movie" to my desktop, when I open the exported file in quicktime player I get horrible static. I am also running Logic in 32bit mode.
Just on accident I found that if I export the file to my SDCH card that i use for my Canon T3i camera and not to my Desktop the file opens fine, I hear the extra tracks I added and the actual audio of the original file.
Can anyone explain why I can't export the file to my desktop without the file opening with static?
Just for a bit more information, I can also export to a jump drive with no problem. Does the the way my hard drive is formatted  have anything to do with this feature?
    Computer specs:
    MacBook Pro
    2.4 Ghz Intel Core i7
    4 GB 1333 Hz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB graphics
    750 GB SATA Disk
    Jump Drive: MS-DOS (fat32)
    SDCH crad: MS-DOS (fats32)
Mac HD: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    Thanks
    Darian

What is really odd is the Jump Drive and Secure Digital card are both formatted Fat32 MS-DOS, while your Mac drive is formatted (correctly) as Mac OS Extended.
Go back to your original formatting... what happens if you move the noisy file from your desktop to the jump drive and play it from there, is there still static, if so that eliminates a playback problem and places it on the record function. Best to narrow things down.
De-Select Floating point and set the sample size to 16, leave everything else the same.

  • Export Audio To Movie, functions differently now.

This used to work fine for me - but now it doesn't, strange.
I have two tracks that I recorded in Logic pro 9.
I went to "File/Open Movie" in Logic - brought in an MPG and lined it up where I wanted it so that it matches the audio.
When I go to "File / Export Audio To Movie", I used to get a screen that allowed me to de-select the audio in the movie, so that the movie audio wouldn't be in the final exported movie.
I DO NOT want the audio from the movie to be in the export.
I have muted the movie audio in Settings / Video / so that it does not play while I roll the tracks in Logic.
I used to be able to deselect the movie audio when "Exporting Audio To Movie" but now I don't get that screen when going through the export process.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks, Giovanni5000.

You have to do some basic trouble shooting routine to give a little more info:
    1) Use a different movie and see if the export works
if yes then the problem could be your original movie
if no try a a third movie
    2) Use a new project and try the basic routing: import movie, import new audio - bounce to Movie
if that works then maybe there is a problem with your project and not with Logic. Back to your project and digg deeper
    3) etc ...

  • 'Export audio to movie' not working properly

Hi, when I 'export audio to movie' in Linear PCM format the audio from the original video plays along side the music I have written in Logic X. The audio track from the video is muted apart from where I've used some of the original audio on a new track. How do I get it so that just my music plays along with the video?
    Thanks,

  • Exporting Audio to Movie problem - no video

Hello, I am having a problem using the export audio to movie feature. I'm following all the steps listed in the Pro Training Series book to export a score to a movie, but when I try to open the file (which is a .mov) I do not get any video.
It pops up in Quicktime with no picture, only sound.
    Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem. I write jingles and lots of other stuff for video, and have been doing this for years in every previous version of logic. Now it seems like a no go. I'm not a happy camper

  • "Export audio to movie" produces an all-white video or other problematic issue.  Help.

The latest Logic X update seems to have broken the "export audio to movie" function.  I need to re-import the movie file every time I want to export audio to movie or it results in an all-white video or a video that hangs up on a single frame.  Does anyone know a good work-around or fix?  I'm generally using video that is compressed in H264.  I also need to deliver at that same codec.  Not having to convert the original movie to a new format and then convert the version with music back to H264 again would be ideal.

Now Logic's gone racist, jeeze... what next?
Dang Clancy..... Now I have spilt coffee all over the floor!

  • Export Audio To Movies issue

    Hi folks,
In Logic X, I can't seem to export audio to movie properly.  When I click the "Export To Movie" it seems to export a short section from wherever the cursor is, so I tried moving the cursor to the start and no difference.
So, I then used the cycle area to select and export the whole track, which it did - but without the video!  When I play back it's just darkness!
I had no such problems in Logic 9 - am I going mad or has anyone got any solutions?
    Thanks!
    Ben

Well the temporary workaround I found right now is to use the sample delay plug-in on the output 1-2 channel. Actually needs 2 instances. The mas setting is around 10000 samples. I think in my situation, the video is around 8 frames late. So I set th combination of plugs to delay the audio by around 12800 samples. Upon exporting, the sync between audio and video is close enough.
This is just a workaround. I hope apple fix it for the sake of users using Logic for score to picture purposes.
