Logic Pro X has changed solo/mute functionality

I have just updated Logic from 9 to X. I've now discovered that the mute/solo functionality has been changed. I use to be able to select regions and then hit s or m on the keyboard and then the regions would solo or mute. Now the s and m keys seem to be only associated with track that is highlighted and therefore mute/solo the entire track. This very frustrating. Is there a way to change this back to Logic 9 behavior?
Thanks.

It's just the key command that has been changed. You can change it back. There might be a Logic 9 key command set, I don't remember, but if there isn't you can open L9, export your key commands and import them into X, or just change the ones you miss.

  • Why the mouse pointer in Logic Pro does not change shape during work in OSX 10.9.1?

I've a MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch Late 2013 and I'm using two external displays. One connected to to the HDMI port (display 1) the other to thunderbolt (display 2). The MacBook display is closed. I’m working with Logic Pro 9.1.8 (32bit) with OSX 10.9.1
Why the mouse pointer in Logic Pro does not change shape during work???
It was already difficult with OSX 10.9 but now after upgrading to 10.9.1 it's game over!
At least before I could select which display use Logic Pro to have all the shape functions of the pointer. Not in both displays, so to be forced to edit in ONLY ONE of the two displays using this workaround: (right click on Logic icon in Dock: Option --> Desktop on Display 1). Now or I select “Option --> All Desktops” or does not work. However, by selecting all displays you say goodbye to Mission Control. This can’t be a solution!!!
The amazing thing is that Nuendo has no problem while Logic Pro, Apple's native software, it can't!
With Nuendo it’s indifferent in which display you are working, the shape of the mouse pointer changes shape depending on the requirement in both displays.
    This thing drives me crazy!
    Solutions?
Here some ideas in other foums:
    http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=86264
But this aren't really solutions but workarounds. Use Logic in all desktops makes Mission Control useless!!

I installed all over again by formatting as suggested by the genes of pro application support. Each plug-in, each virtual instrument, a job that lasted 3 days. And as suggested for each new plug-in I proceeded to check the proper functioning of Logic Pro and did each time a back up with Time Machine.
    The Result:
Logic works as it should ONLY on the primary monitor and ONLY on the first desktop.
    BUT
Reason and Nuendo dont' have this issue !!
I believe that Apple developers are thinking only to mobile phones and things like messages or face time.
    And that's not all!
After a few weeks, perhaps by installing a version of Adobe Acrobat, I say maybe because I'm not sure, logic has stopped working properly. Again problems with the mouse pointer.
Luckily I had a back up! But now I'm terrified to install new programs. Thanks Apple!

  • Logic Pro *8 has detected a possible conflict between one or more...

NOTE: This has NOTHING to do with opening Logic 7 sessions in Logic 8. This warning repeatedly pops up when starting Logic Pro 8, and when opening new sessions, and when adding tracks...and it's just unbeatable.
Logic Pro has detected a possible conflict between one or more third party MIDI or audio drivers.
I only suppose this could be either the Oxygen 8, or Digidesign 002 drivers? But Im certain that I do NOT use the 002 drivers.
Anyone know about this? I only started seeing this problem after upgrading to both Leopard, and Logic Pro 8.
Could my dongle be the problem? Hehe, I still have that plugged in from Logic 6!
Ouch, this problem is so persistent I'm going to go back to Logic Pro 7.

    hi.
Having just experienced this problem, I tried reinstalling the pace InterLok Extensions but this did not help. I then uninstalled the extensions (using the uninstaller script provided by pace) and now everything works. I need pace for some software i own so this is not a permanent solution for me...
(I experienced this problem using logic 7.2.3 on OSX 10.4.11)

  • Logic pro 9 has lost its libraries

    Hi There.
I've had logic pro 9 for a while. My older Mac broke, so I got a new one and re-installed Logic on it.
I opened it up but now it doesn't seem to find any presets as per screenshots below. The same problem occurs when I open e.g. a new "Hip Hop" template and it asks me to locate things like the kits, some reverbs and so on.
    Please help!

if you downloaded LP9 via the App Store.. did you download and install all the Additional Content via the menu option in Logic Pro 9's menu bar?

  • Does Logic Express has the flex time function?

Does the latest Logic Express has the flex time function which can either stretch or shrink the sound wave? I know Logic Pro 9 has that. I am struggling with buying either studio or express
    thank you

It does. Express and Studio have the same engine... except that Studio seems to be maintained better these days...
My (worthless) opinion right now, given the two recent releases of Studio with nothing released for Express is if you have the extra money, go with Studio.

  • In Logic Pro 9, how many midi controlled software instruments do you get...?

In Logic Pro 9, how many midi controlled software instruments do you get and is there possibility to download more as it says 40 on the programs info on the Mac Store, as i intend to compose on it but with only 40 instruments it's not really worth it.
So i was just wondering whether it let you download more for free.
    Thanks for reading
    ~Matt

Yes: I too am interested in the software instruments available in Logic Pro: one has to be a bit wary of the jam packs because there don't seem to be many solo instruments included. But I looked at the Logic screen in an Apple store the other day, and it worked like GarageBand in
this respect: you created a new track choosing the software instrument option and a whole lot of instruments came
up in a column on the right: lots of solo wind instruments, plenty of keyboards and guitars of course and not very many solo strings, only one violin, in the world music subsection under Irish fiddle. Yehudi Menuhin
where are you when we need you?
What I've been trying to find out is which part of the purchase does this long list of software instruments arrive with, because it's basically the only reason
I'm interested - I get on fine with gb but it
Just hasn't got enough instruments, and as I say the jam packs don't seem
to resolve this ? Or do they? Could someone please help
    me with this?

  • Logic pro x. Global tracks chord

I work a great deel with Logic Pro 9 using Global Tracks Chords to manage chordshifting when i use loops. I Bought Logic Pro X, and I cant find this possibility
In Logic Pro X. Need help fast......

Yes Gr8Dayz, it is correct. No support for Chords. This is incredible because competitors, like Cubase, add this features at highest level to help composer.
Not all... I've found big problems with loops without chord track... yes, you can use "flex" but it's not a solution for a songwriter or for a composer that wants to give a "song structure" with chords (and found "ideas").
At the end to compose with Logic Pro X takes 3-4 time more than "old" Logic Pro.
It's incredible but yesterday I had to import a simple MP3 file (44.1 khz.) to make a recording. I could not believe what I saw ... Logic Pro X makes a mistake ... the beginning of the audio file was compromised ... there were silences/empty sound placed in the first 5 seconds .
I've been working on this thing one hours, I thought I had done something wrong. So I repeated the import procedure 10 times creating new projects at all frequencies available.
What had happened? Logic Pro X has a not defined bug that prevents (in this case) the correct import file.
How do I know this ?
    Easy.
I opened my beloved Pro Logic (the " old ") and the first time everything worked fine. Not only was it faster, but the file WAS PERFECT. Sound great.
Conclusion . I am going to leave the O Logic Pro X. If Apple programmers do not change things I AM OBLIGED TO SPEND € 600 TO BUY A PROGRAM THAT MAKES SERIOUS THINGS SERIOUSLY... II will not give you the name of the software, but you can easily imagine it.
I think we could change the name of Logic Pro X and, unfortunately, rename it with a different name : Amateur (il)Logic X...

  • Euphonix MC Mix with Logic Pro 7 (not 8)

    Has anyone picked up this:
    http://www.euphonix.com/artist/products/mc_mix/
And had it connected up to Logic Pro 7? (not Logic Pro 8, I upgraded but stayed with 7)
The Euphonix can use the HUI protocol, so it should function, and I'm very close to buying this - I was just wondering how the user experience felt (especially with regard Inserts etc). Good or bad purchase? I cannot demo the unit; no importer in Hong Kong.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

    Sup All,
I tried one of the MC Mix units that my friend picked up although we couldn't successfully used both units at the same time due to a Ethernet jack issue that i determined later by connecting one unit at a time.
Setup and Config were a breeze. I used it intensively in Logic Pro. I like all the functions for it works almost as if it were a Mackie Controller. But, one thing that could make it a deal breaker for now is that it is very sluggish in response waiting for logic to send the proper Data to the unit or vice-versa.
Even when the MC Mix was not plug to my system everything was still slow; so it is safe to assume it's a Eucon Software issue. Once I did uninstall Logic worked flawless.
With that unit you can do literally anything a Mix Controller does. So, optimistic thoughts say they, meaning Euphonix will workout the issues within weeks.( Unofficially )
    PROs
    Mixer felt great.
    Look Great.
Can be used while you are connected to the internet.
    Usage is excellent
Easy IP Config. Dynamic or static.
Instantiating Inserts, Software Instruments is excellent
Everything as the demo shows. http://www.euphonix.com/artist/products/mc_mix/video.php
    The Riser is cool
A New Software installer replaces the Cd that comes with the units
    CONS
    Sluggish
The OLED Displays don't show Values until you touch the knobs or faders.
    WISHES
    Meter Bridge or Better Meters
    Counter or Measure Displays
And lastly... Don't know if it's Gigabit or Megabit Ethernet Connection.
I connected it directly to my Computer as well as through two Ethernet Hub; Same Results every time.

  • Does anyone know if apple's one-to-one program would be a good way to learn how to use logic pro or am I better off going to school to learn audio engineering or something?

Of course going to school would be a good option, but I want to know if one-to-one is also a good way to learn how to use logic pro. Has anyone been through the one-to-one program for logic pro and can say that they learned how to use logic pro well because of it?

For sure, one to one training, if given by a tutor who is capable, will hand you the means to build up self-confidence  and will therefore let you operate the hard/software in an intelligent manner, instead of going for the trial and error method which has its pro's and con's too. Once you've passed this beginners phase you will make your own decisions intelligently and then you will also start to get experience and learn even from your mistakes. Something like that in theory and the rest is up to you!
    Have a nice day

  • How do I get Logic Pro to recognize Yamaha Motif Rack XS MIDI Sounds

I have connected my Yamaha Motif Rack XS Tone Generator to the Logic Pro computer via USB and have installed the latest Yamaha Driver on the computer, as well.  I have enabled the USB TO HOST terminal of the Yamaha Motif Rack XS.  I am not able to find any trace of the Motif Rack in Logic Pro.
Has anyone successfully set up the Motif Rack XS with Logic Pro?

Make sure the power is off the irig and then plug it in.
took me a few tries, restarting the computer etc.  brand new Mavericks 13"
Now it seems to recognize it on the computer as an input.
Logic seems to be listening to it (when I jiggle the cable)
but I still can't get a mic to work....
    I'll let you know...

  • If I learn on Logic Pro 9, will it be difficult to move to Logic Pro X?

    Hello,
I am studying Logic Pro for composition of orchestral music - I bought Logic Pro 9 about 2 months ago, as I had no idea Logic Pro X was coming out. I also purchased a couple of books to study it.
I am not complaining about the lack of upgrades, as I know Logic Pro is very cheaply priced; I just cannot afford the upgrade right now as I do not have the money.
I would like to ask you if it makes sense for me to study on Logic Pro 9 for the time being, and if it will be difficult to move to Logic Pro X once I have learnt Logic Pro 9. What was your experiencing moving to Logic Pro X?
    Thanks.

Logic Pro X has got a different user interface than Logic Pro 9, so near everything you are learning won't be useful when you upgrade to Logic Pro X.
    What!!  Do you use Logic?
I think every experienced user here will disagree withyour above statement... I've had a chance to play around with X for a bit and while there are a few differences there's nothing there to prevent a user of Logic-9 from losing his/her way in Logic X.
The Important things are almost (if not) exactly the same.
I'm a long time Logic user! (since bersion 2.x).

  • Check This Out - from Logic "PRO" Manual

This is taken directly from Logic's manual p. 429/LogicPro7 Reference Manual:
    Consolidate Selected Songs
In These days of big, fast hard disk drives, it's remommended that all files used by a song be stored in a single folder. Within that folder, standardized structure for every song is desirable.
What if one works with 64 tracks at a Sampling Rate of 96KHZ or 192KHZ!!! However, now I know why logic pro 7 has such a bad disk allocation system where one cannot freely define where he wants to record!

settle down, you are being annoying. it bugs me when people get a beef about the word 'pro' and what that words means to them and thus feel legitimised to blither on about a program's weaker areas as though it by rights disqualifies it from being qualified as usable by professionals.
logic, you may have noticed, is not as advanced and solid as a multi-track recording system as a protools HD system. but, you should also have noticed that it's a program primarily intended for other types of use. as far as composition and music production goes, protools makes me laugh. logic is vastly vastly superior in every conceivable way for this purpose. but you'll never hear me complaining that protools is therefore a non-professional platform.
horses for courses mate. it takes a pro to learn all the tools for the job they want to do and recognise which one to use for what.

  • Does logic pro 8 work mountain lion?

I've updated my Mac Xeon with Mountain Lion and now my Logic Pro 8 is giving me a midi conflict error. How can I fix this or does Logic Pro 8 even work Mountain LIon? Can anyone help me?

I know.. I have both read and taken part in that thread but again....
The majority of peopole who run Logic 9.1.8 and Lion or now Mountain Lion do not have those issues... and because they do not, they don't post in such threads.. so you get a distorted view of the true numbers of people with problems.
Those that do have issues, will naturally post up in such threads... but that doesn't mean they are the majority of users... They are just the 'loudest' and quite rightly so.
I will also say that for me personally, 10.6.8 and Logic 9.1.5/9.1.6 was and still is the most stable platform for Logic of all of the various combinations available... but apart from an annoying issue with the "airplay' dialog box that keeps popping up in 9.1.8 with ML... and the GUI lag affecting a few plugins.. I don't have any major issues with Logic and ML... so I can happily live and work with that setup...
Finally, it's also worth noting that with my own client base.. initially with Lion and then Mountain Lion the number of clients who had problems was much higher.. Probably closer to 20-25% had issues..  but most of those issues were resolved by updates to incompatible drivers/3rd party plugins and so on...
Once those kind of issues were resolved... as I said earlier, the number of my clients who still have major issues running uner Lion or ML with Logic Pro 9 has dropped to less than 5%... and to me, that respresents a minority of all users... like it or not.

  • Logic Pro 9 update - PLEASE HELP!

    Hi.
I upgraded my computers to the newest Mac Pro which have Mavericks.
I have problem with Logic Pro - it has strange black lines, which makes it difficult to work.
I wanted to update my Logic Pro (version 9.1.6) but it says I have to do it via Apple Store and apple store app says there are no updates available.
    How can I update it?
Ps. It is spelled "Logic Pro", and there are no other copies of Logic on my computer.

First, you must be signed into the Mac App Store using the same Apple ID that you used to purchase Logic in the first place....
check the the purchse tab in the App Store app... To confirm you are signed in with the correct Apple ID as Logic Pro will show up there if you are. If not you are not signed into the App Store with the same ID used to purchase it initially. Use the menu option Store.. To sign out and sign in again with the correct ID
    now check updates again.....
    if that that desnt work.....
Copy your Logc app to an external drive, delete the copy in your app folder  and unplug that external drive.. So there is no copy of Logic Pro on your system anywhere
Now go to the purchase tab in the App Store and you should see Logic Pro there for you to download and install again and this will be the 9.1.8 version...
