Logic Pro X In, Most Other Functions Out

Anyone else have this problem? Since installing Logoc Pro X onto my MacBook Pro (purchased March 2013, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB, OS 10.8.4) I've lost use of my Epson printer, Toast Titanium, and my internal disc drive. Suggestions?

1. Yes you guess it right. I'm talking about painting notes, changing their velocity, volume, damping and expression, all right within the main sequencer window. Cubase, Pro Tools, Sonar, Digital Performer, Reaper, and Acid Pro (where this fonctionnality is very well embeded) have it since years.

1. When scoring mutliple violins and making them precisely in sync with other midi tracks, in-line / in-place midi editing becomes quickly mandatory, and time-saving. I can't think of myself working without it.
2. I guess you're talking about the FXPansion VST-AU Adapter, you're right. But of course like everybody I'm always looking forward a robust "native support" than another layer of cake .
3. Since version 9 ? Wow that's good to know. Does it mean it process everything with a 64bit Floating Point technology aswell ?

Logic Pro X Audio cutting in and out

When I am trying to record in Logic Pro X the audio seems to cut in and out at random points.
I have a MP3 track that I am recording to and it just randomly cuts out. Even when just playing that track by itself the same thing happens though never at the same spots. If I open the MP3 in Itunes or Quicktime there is no problem with the track.
As this seriously messes with the time of the piece and makes the recording long and painful I need help.
Is there some type of connection I am missing? I am using an old Presonus Firebox as an Interface, it unfortunately has adaptors to take it from firewire to thunderbolt. Recording into a 27" Imac that is very souped up and shouldn't have any problems until I hit a hundred tracks or so and I am only trying two.

It's most likely the Fusion drive, one of the symptoms is audio cutting out.

When installing Logic Pro 8, "skip" is enabled/greyed out on Logic Pro Box

Hey all
I'm trying to install Logic Pro 8 for the first time on on iMac, however when i get to the custom install options, the "skip" box next to Logic Pro is enabled, and greyed out, and i can't change it, therefore i can't actually install Logic. I can install main stage, compressor etc, but not logic.
Any ideas? I have no trace of previous installations on my system as its never been installed with this set up of snow leopard, but i have double checked everywhere in my prefs, application support etc.
I'm confused and its very frustrating!

Logic pro x mixer window freezes main out VU with dual monitors

In a dual display configuration, with the mixer window in the left monitor and arrange window in the right monitor, the VU meter on the last channel strip to the far right of the mixer window(which is usually the main output) freezes and does not update. This seems to be a Logic X bug, since it does not occour in Logic 9 or any other DAW with the same configuration.
Can anyone confirm this or have a suggestion for a solution?

They have had four years to change this, and actually people were asking for it before that. If anyone knows a way, let us know, but I doubt it. Both Logic and Cubase are the only two DAWS that don't allow this....all the majors do....Pro Tools, DP, Studio One, etc. Cubase users have been asking for it forever as well.
I would have upgraded immediately if they had added this, they haven't, and I'm moving over to PT11.

Logic Pro X - How do I record my voice over existing tracks (via a mike and audio interface) without hearing those tracks on the speaker. I have headphones plugged into the interface but it doesn't stop in coming out of the speakers?

I'm new to Logic Pro X and can't work out how to record my voice over existing tracks without them playing over the speaker. I'm using a Sure mike through an audio interface and have headphones plugged into the interface?

Sticky proposal: Logic Pro (first draft)

Ok, here's a first draft of the proposed sticky for this forum. After looking at what we had, I decided to basically do it in four parts - introductory stuff (please post version numbers etc), problem solvers, tips, and audio general stuff.
I'm not making this a work of art, but value feedback in order to make this useful before we ask the mods for a sticky. It's not complete, such a task is a much bigger job, but it's a start. What's not there? What's confusing? Is it too much stuff? Too newbie unfriendly?
When we are happy I will probably style/format it a little better as well.

Questions about third-party software and hardware are welcome as long as they relate directly to using these products in conjunction with Logic.
This forum is dedicated to the post-Apple versions of Logic, which means questions for Logic Pro 7, Logic Pro 8, and Logic Pro 9 are welcome. However, please include the version of Logic you are using, in order to give useful advice (as things change between versions.) Better still, put your Logic versions and system information in your signature, to save having to ask for it.
If you are a user of Logic Express, you should post in the Logic Express forum, rather than the Logic Pro forum, in order to get advice suited to your particular software version (as some things are different between Logic Express and Logic Pro).
Remember that many questions, especially if you are new to Logic, have been asked multiple times before, so it's good practice to use the Discussions Search feature in the top right of the page to search for previous discussions relating to your issue. You will find a wealth of information. Often you can find a solution to your question without needing to post and have someone type out a response they've already typed out hundreds of times before - or worse yet, have your question ignored.

Help with Logic Pro 7 and Yamaha 01X please!

My friend has purchased an 01X, a 20" G5 iMac with 1.5GB RAM and Logic Pro 7. He is not the 'techiest' of people so was rather hesitant about going this route for his recording purposes. Having used a Yamaha AW4416 to successfully record an album, he figured that the 01X with Logic would be the next step up the ladder of useability & functionality.
Unfortunately, he is having a great deal of difficulty in getting the 01X to talk to Logic. He purchased and installed the Logic 7.1 update in the hope that things would start to work. Unfortunately, that hasn't helped either. All the 01X is able to do is start and stop the 'play head' in Logic. None of its other functions are having any effect. He is also having problems with mLan.
So, before he throws the whole lot out as a bad idea can anybody provide any success stories with Logic and the 01X. I am hoping to visit him this weekend to see if I can help. However, whilst I know a whole lot about Macs, I have no experience with the 01X or Logic (I used Cubase VST in the past on a few projects). Any help or pointers in troubleshooting this would be very gratefully received.

i've been looking into getting the 01X and been doing some reading. i have no experience with it but i'm interested in hearing more about how you get on. i did find that www.o1xray.com has a forum full of information about setting up logic and the 01X. Updating Virus kb with Logic Pro using emagic mt4

I have done the following set-up: iBook via USB into MIDI-Interface emagic mt4, mt4 via MIDI-Out into Virus kb MIDI-In (I have also set-up the Audio MIDI Setup in Max OS X 10.4.9 correctly).
1. How do I import an MIDI-File (.mid), which is used to update my Access Virus kb synthesizer, into Logic Pro 7.0.1?
2. How do I transfer that imported MIDI-File from Logic Pro 7 through my MIDI-Interface (emagic mt4) to my Virus kb?

Logic Pro 7.1.1 stability

Hi,
I'v been using logic on mac since v6, I have never bin able to have logic run continuously for more than an hour!! It always locks-up on me (crashes). I am at the end of my tether. I love the look of logic and love the way it works, (wen it works!) Am I missing sumthin? anybody?
I have checked all the following things:
I have checked all my memory modules. (removed 1 faulty 512mb)
temporarily removed addional internal/external fiwi drives
repaired drive permission,
Installed pro application suport 3.1
disabled ALL third party au's (Absynth, atmosphere, minimoog v)
reset logic pro7 prefs
removed motu av/audiophile 2496 drivers and used interal audio
tweaekd audio preferance settings.
...and still it crashes! slight improvement yeah, but crashes after hour or so
I am using logic pro 7.1.1 1/2gig ram, 4/5 audio tracks,sum logic au effects.
Am i doing sumthin wrong.? I'v checked and double checked all my g4 hardware with apple hardware tester. could there a seriouse bug in MY copy/version of logic that prevents it from running a few audiomidi tracks for an hour? Can any1 help advise?
Considering i spent ova £600 on my logic pro,
my heart sank when i (out of curiosity) downloaded and installed Logic Express Trial on sun 4th, I set it to play.. and to my astonishment it ran from 10:00 sunday morning to 23:00! all the time iwas swapping/jumpng around screensets editing and generally USING it, trying to crash it! Express remained rock solid all the way ever since, is there an pro equivalent?

logic 7.1 runs ok here, but that's on a G5. Did you loop the hardware ckecking prg? A guy at applecare told me that the memory is only checked random. If you want a thorough check you could press ctrl-L ( or something like that; I forgot) when starting the harware check to loop the prg, run it overnight and see what comes up. I can imagine logic pro uses a lot more memory than logic express, so it would be more sensitive to memory failure.
Any other prg that uses a lot of memory? Is your mac stable when running a load of prg at the same time?

Mapping Yamaha DTXplorer in logic pro - Environment window clicks and Ports

The midi signals for Yamaha DTXplorer are off from GM. The snare (G0) and bass drum (A0) output notes do not trigger snare (D1) and bass drum (C1).
I am a novice to both MAC and Logic Pro.
I have the midi out of the drumset going USB right into my MAC.
I've gotten as far as...
1. Environment window>clicks and Ports
2. Verifying the channels that DTX triggers for snare and bass drum.
3. Changing the output notes to D1 & C1.
Nothing changes with the sound.
In fact, I can change the output notes for drums that are set up correctly and they don't change either.
None of the alterations I do in the Environment window seem to do anything to the midi signals!
Do I need to activate or save the changes? If so, how (precisely)?

Does Logic Pro 9.0 work with Mac OS X Lion?

I don't want to update to Mac OS X Lion from Snow Leopard until I know 100% that Logic Pro 9.0.0 is compatible with it.
On a side note, would Final Cut Pro 7.0 work with Lion as well (I will not be upgrading to Final Cut Pro X)?

Okay peoples, I have great news!
I was told that maybe the update for Logic Pro 9.0.0 to 9.1.4 wasn't working for me because I must have renamed my software folder... and I remembered doing so back in 2010.
You see, my issue was:
I bought Logic Studio 8 (The big box with piano keys on the side) and then as soon as I did, Logic Pro 9 (the update version) came out. I was inclined to get the latest software, so I upgraded immediately. I remember wondering why my logic pro 8 stayed behind after the update so I foolishly renamed the folders "Logic Pro 8" and "Logic Pro 9" haha. Not knowing this would cause me grief later when I tried to update.
So, my Logic Pro 9 is working again fine. My only concern now is for the hardware (the Apogee Duet) I am using, as I have to wait for a Lion update in August, thankfully it is only a month away as apposed to 6

Logic Pro X Step Editor - Access Fader Number 127

I am trying to automate a parameter in LPX on an internal softsynth. I can find the fader number by putting a monitor object on the track, moving the parameter and getting the read out (same as LP9). That's no problem.
The issue I need help with and can't seem to find help on is trying to access a fader number greater than (>) 127?
Ex.
1. Retro Synth on a track.
2. In environment, hook monitor object to this track.
3. move the Filter Cutoff and get a read out.
4. In this case it is "F 2 403 #" - (Fader / MIDI Chan / Number / Value"
5. Set up a new lane in Step Editor.
6. In the inspector, change to Status to "Fader", MIDI Channel "2"
7. In the "Number" field, I can't get higher than "127"
How do I access Fader #403 in Step Editor? I am missing something and don't know what though. I have raked through the manual and can't seem to find the answer.

How to record guitar in Logic Pro 8

Well, I´ve got a Mac Mini, Logic Pro 8, Audio Kontrol 1 audio interface, and an acoustic guitar. What I would like to do is to record my guitar songs into Logic Pro 8 and add other sound effects. My problem is, however, that I can´t figure out how to record guitar using Logic Pro 8. In the "Preferences" I choose "Core Audio" as device. I connect my guitar into the audio interface (Audio Kontrol 1) and from the audio interface to my Mac Mini using an USB.
When I start playing, Logic Pro is silent. When I record, there is no sound. What is even more strange is that GarageBand is working perfect! So I guess it has something to do with the settings in Logic Pro 8. So, I ask you guys...do you know have to solve this problem? If so, I would be very grateful!
