Logic Pro X Interface

I have an old Yamaha 01X with firewire. It works very well with my older Macbook running logic 9. OS 10.6.8
In the compatibility list for Logic Pro X, it states that the 01X is compatable with logic X,
I have not been able to get this setup to work with my new matchbook pro. I have a thunderbolt to firewire 400 adapter plugged into the computer, Logic scan seems to see it but will not communicate transport buttons. Can not find new Mlan drivers for Logic X.
Has anyone else integrated a 01X with logic pro X? What is the secret to get the control interface to work. Or do I have to upgrade the control surface.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, No I have not had anyone tell me there experience but,.... I have found out the issue and why things are not working.... I think....
First of all, Mlan was written in 32 bit and worked fine with logic 9 and OS 10.2 - 10.6... But when Apple went to 64 bit os, things changed. Need to find someone who will rewrite "MLAN"  drivers, Patch Bay, and Connection Manager into 64 bit. Where is an apple programer when you need one?
Upon further investigation, there was hints to try to emulate a Mackie Control Surface  but this has not worked for me.  My Logic 10 sort of sees my 01X,(as a Mackie)  but I have not been able to get the Learn mode to see transport keys or faders. I think this is where the new updated drivers would work. I have tried to install the yamaha software but keep getting failures.... I guessing that it is the difference between 32 and 64 bit.
In Apple midi control, I have not been able to connect with the 01X.
Alternatively, I find that my iPad works well as a remote surface control but just does not give me the feel of the faders or the jog control.
It's unfortunate that yamaha would not see this as a customer service upgrade. I mean my 01X works well, and is worth more to me as is, than to trade it in. Plus, there really is not anything quite like it that I have found in a multi purpose audio workstation. And I am sure that they have sold more than two...
And it still works well with my older Macbook and Logic 9.
So for a audio interface, I picked up a FOCUSRITE 18i20 which is usb 3 interface, has XLR, 1/4" MIdI, digital i/o and interfaces very well with Logic. Plus I can output any output from stereo to 7.1. Using my iPad side by side to my laptop running Logic X, gives me the same transport control and access to most used features... and it's wireless! It's just a different way of doing things....
Now, I am taking the digital stereo out from the Yamaha 01x(SPDIF) and inputing to the Focusrite 18i20. This allows me to send a digital stereo mix to Logic. So, let's say I have 8 mics plugged into the 01X, (even midi) lets say I am recording a choir or a brass section or a drum kit, I could do a sub mix with the Yamaha and only take up two channels in logic. The only problem with this situation is, your mix from the yamaha is what you get, if it's good it can save you, if it's too low or too loud and distorted, your screwed. In this case, in reality, it's just letting me use 8 more inputs but restricted to two outputs....  Back in the old days when we only had 16 tracks to record with, this situation would be great. But with Logic X, we can have so many tracks, you need 8 eyes and 4 hands just to hit record. lol
Well, hope this helps you or gives you some insight as to what I have found. Another thing that I found strange is that the 01X is listed in Apples Logic support website as a supported interface. So if they tested it and made it work, what did they do?, and why did they not put the instructions in the setup page like all the other interfaces?
Cheers!

  • Logic Pro X Interface M-Audio Keystation Pro 88

Before I cut my meals (probably a month of lunches)  from my Social Security budget  take the plunge into Logic X  (much more reasonably priced than even previous upgrades) -- has anyone had tips or problems with interfacing any or all functions with M-Audio's Keystation Pro 88 -- my workhorse?  I cannot afford to upgrade there keyboard and software.....period and will stick with my old copy of 9 rather than lose the weight.

M-audio is own by Digidesign (Protools), which is owned by Avid. You wont get their gear working on Leopard without paying. Every time Apple releases a new cat in the wild Avid/Digi makes you pay. Get used to it or find some other hardware that wont take weeks or even months to update a simple driver for that hardware you are married to. I stopped using Protools but i'm stuck with their hardware. Learn from my mistake & find yourself a hardware company that keep up with Apple updates like Motu. My Power Mac G4's built in audio driver goes to 192 khz. What's up with that Digi? all that money for 92 khz.

  • Logic Pro X interface freeze

Just started having major issues with the LPX interface "partially" freezing up and becoming unresponsive: tracks disappear when I attempt to rearrange them, can't get the input track showing up in the mixer for new tracks, playhead doesn't move but sound is playing, can't move the loop bar ... Is anyone having these issues? This all started after installing the AKAI EIE Pro and latest drivers - which I've since compoetely uninstalled with no change.
    I'm running LPX 10.0.1 on a MacBook Pro 10.8.4 with 2.7GHz and 16GB ram - 750 GB SSD.
    Thanks!!

    Try this..
Run the Activity Monitor that can be found in your Applications/Utility folder
Let that run in the background and then start/use LPX
In Activity Montior click on the CPU tab and then make sure the columns are sorted to show highest CPU use is at the top...
When you next get a freeze.. look at the Activity Monitor and see what is at the top or close to the top of the monitor to determine if it is actually LPX that is causing the freeze or if its another app/routine doing it..
Also...  how much free space do you have left on your System drive?
If you have less than 20% of your total system drive space left, that can cause such issues as OS X needs about 20% of free system drive space to properly "breathe' and work correctly...

  • Logic  Pro 8 Interface problems

After having problems with a M-Audio 1814 I got a Profire 2626. I loaded the right drivers and setup my HUI. The system worked fine. I get out of the program.. reload no problem. I shut down, start up no prob. Once I shut down my studio (power off 2626) then I turn on system 2626 first then computer. The audio interface does not work in Logic. You see it but no audio, no HUI. I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled. It works till I shut down the interface again. Help!????

I had the Firewire 410 then upgraded to the Profire 610. Both work great.
One thing I noticed is when I start my computer with the Profire 610 turned on, sometimes (not all the time) even though I call up the Profile 610 Software Control Panel and see the meters working, I hear no sound.
If I close the Software Control Panel, turn off (not unplug) the Profile 610 and then turn it back on, everything works.

  • Ableton Live 8 to Logic Pro 9 Switch?!?

    Hey everyone,
I'm a producer and own a record label and I recently bought a Mac Mini (Mid-2007) that I have succesfully upgraded to Mac OS X Snow Leopard! I am very familar with the Mac interface so that is not an issue, but I am not familar with the Logic Pro 9 interface. I currently use Ableton Live 8.3 and Reason 6. I have used FL Studio and Reaper, but made the switch to Ableton about a year ago. I love Ableton, don't get me wrong, but I've heard some really good stuff about Logic and I want to find a way to learn it. I haven't found a good guide to Logic, but I guess most of it I can teach myself like I did Ableton. If you have any tutorials on getting started in Logic or maybe a Logic For Dummies (I Don't Know) but if you read this please link me!
    Thanks,
    Jacob Wolf

Hi Jacob. I use Logic 9 and Ableton 8 currently. I think that you will find Logic very similar to Arrangement View in Ableton. I prefer the layout in Logic over Ableton. I just like the overall look, as well as some of Logic-specific features like Flex editing, the arrangement window, and the MIDI tools. For the most part, you can do identical things with them. Ableton obviously has Session mode, as well, which would be more comparible to Apple's Mainstage (only $30 on the App Store).
I use Mainstage over Ableton for loops/ backing tracks with my band. If you need a DAW to use live, Logic is not a good choice but I do prefer it for recording, mixing, etc. To help me get down some of the intricacies, I picked up Logic Pro 9 Power, by Kevin Anker. I liked the way he presented things, and I got a lot out of the book. Best of luck!

  • Can't sync Digi 002 as an interface for Logic Pro 7

I discovered Logic about a year after I had already purchased a Digi 002, and have been using it as my interface for Logic Express for about 6 months.  No problems.  I upgraded to Logic Pro 7 last month and now get only garbled sound and the following error message. "Error while trying to synchronize audio and midi.  Sample rate 88215 recognized.  Check conflict between Logic and External Device."
I am trying to run Logic Pro 7.  I still also use Pro Tools LE version 7.0 which runs fine.  I can play itunes songs, Garage Band, movies, Pro Tools songs, etc., no problem, but not Logic Pro, or Logic Express.
When I switch to Built In Audio, Logic Pro works fine through the tiny built in speaker, but trying to use the Digi 002 as my interface all the sound comes out garbled.
I have been pulling out my hair for weeks.  Any help would be much appreciated.

The digi people also recommended buying the update for 7.3 and then updating to 7.3.cs4.  I am going to give that a try.  What does Pro App Support 4.0 do and where do I find it if you think that might help me?
That is what I'm running, and it works great. Give it a shot. You can do a search on this forum, or on the Apple Support section of the website, and search for that term (Pro Application Support).
Yes I have learned my lesson with auto update.  Live and learn.
Yes. Remember, a DAW machine is NOt a regular computer you can do whatever with. Audio software and hardware are finicky creatures that don't play nice if you're messing with their operating system willy-nilly.
I spoke with the Apple Store people today as well.  They suggest I spend $100 and sign up for one on one support and bring the whole **** set up in to the store and let them work on it. Seeing as how I am using a G5 tower, and we are talking about a digi 002 board, that is going to be alot of fun to lug across the mall.   I am just about that desperate though.  Any thoughts on one on one support in store?
LOL!!! they just want your money, and will most defniintely screw up your system. They'll update wrong, install stuff you don't want, and re-configure your system to THEIR liking. Stay away from the genius Bar. When it comes to Pro audio, they really know little or nothing. As an example, I went to my local Apple store recently and asked for a copy of Logic Pro. the helpful guy there responded "Logic what? we don't have that kind of software here."
    Thanks for the help.  Again.
You're welcome. Hopefully soon you'll have it up and running.
    Cheers

  • I am using Logic Pro 8, I interface with a firepod, got a new firestudio project, but I can only access 10 tracks at a time to record enable, anyone?

I know the two interfaces have synced, but I just can't seem to pull up more than 10 tracks in the input channel drop down. If any one has any idea , I would love to hear about it.

CCTM, Hello my friend, I wanted to thank you for your support with this issue, Your screen shots, and the tricks and tips book I have helped me set up the aggregate device, I now have 20 inputs and 20 outputs as it should be.
Thank you again, respectfully Eric King.
P.S. As I work my way through the two Logic Pro 8 series books from apple, I am sure I will have more questions, hope to speak with you again. Have a wonderful day .

  • Logic Pro X - How do I record my voice over existing tracks (via a mike and audio interface) without hearing those tracks on the speaker. I have headphones plugged into the interface but it doesn't stop in coming out of the speakers?

I'm new to Logic Pro X and can't work out how to record my voice over existing tracks without them playing over the speaker. I'm using a Sure mike through an audio interface and have headphones plugged into the interface?

Hi Kevin, what kind of audio interface do you have?

  • Help setting up my audio interface with logic pro x

    Hi everyone,
I am a newbie with regards to home recording and using Logic Pro X and I need some help and advice about setting up my home recording set up for the first time. I want to connect my synthesizer Korg Triton Extreme to my Audio Interface Steinberg UR22 to my Apple Imac computer.
What I would like is if I can create backing tracks or use pre-set sounds or drum patterns from my Korg Triton Extreme synthesizer and then transfer them onto Logic Pro X to help me compose songs.
How should I go about doing this? And what settings should be applied to Logic Pro X so that I can hear the songs as they are being played and recorded?
So far I have connected my synthesizer's two outputs to the two inputs on my Steinberg UR22 Audio Interface. I have also connected the USB point on the audio interface to my Apple Imac computer. But when I have tried to add a drum track from the Korg Triton Extreme synthesizer I cannot seem to add any of the drum sounds. Nothing appears to be recorded despite me trying several times. I cannot hear any sound coming from the audio interface either despite having a pair of headphones plugged into it.
I would also like to find a way to synchronise the drum tracks I want to record from my Korg Triton Extreme synthesizer to Logic Pro X. So that when I click on the record button on Logic Pro X the synthesizer track automatically starts playing and recording on Logic Pro X. Whats the best way to do this? And will I need a Midi cable for any of the things I want to do?
    Many thanks,
    James.

    Hi James
I just got myself a macbook pro and logic pro X, and I also have a Triton Extreme and the UR22. So I know what the learning curve can be like - it's been a long time since I've used a sequencer in a computer.
I assume you are aware of the difference between audio and midi? With your current setup, all you can do is play your Triton and record the sounds as audio loops - you should be able to hear the Triton through headphones plugged into the UR22, and (assuming you have installed the UR22 driver) you can also hear the Triton through your computer speakers (or headphone output) once you tell Logic there is sound coming in from the UR22.
If you want to be able to play the sounds in logic pro, or transfer drum patterns (which are in midi format), you will definitely need midi cables (you may be able to use midi by connecting the Triton's USB out to your computer, but having not tried that, I don't know if it will work - it does on more recent synths)

  • Can anyone help!! with Edirol FA 66 Audio interface and Logic Pro 7

    Hi I really need help!!
I have Logic Pro 7 and just have brough tnew Audio interface. I have connected it up via Firewire and my Mac has recognised drivers for interface.
I am plugging midi keyboard up to interface using two midi cables but cant get input signal through logic
    PLease help someone!!

I have connected my Keyboard to my Edirol FA 66 Audio Interface
    via midi cables
Ok, so you should be able to use the Casio to play Logic's instruments.
I would like keyboard to play into Logic and then be heard as an
    output through my external speakers.
Well that's your problem, you've only connected it via MIDI cables - MIDI IS NOT AUDIO.
MIDI does not carry any audio signals at all, you cannot record audio via MIDI cables. You need to connect the stereo outputs of your keyboard into the audio inputs of your audio interface in order to record the Casio as audio, and/or to pipe it's audio through Logic.

re the firmware update - there is talk that this should only be done if you are going to use USB - and also that it needs to be done via Windows.........I am confused re this?
I don't know about that, I don't own a Phonic, but if you only have to do it for USB, well, then there's no problem and you don't have to do anything, so...
Also when you say DAW (what does that stand for?
Digital Audio Workstation; Logic, Cubase, Protools etc are all DAWs. You'll probably encounter this term once in a while...
I just want to make sure and sorry if i sound silly but I should be able to use Phonic as my interface with Logic Pro without using Cubase?
    Yes.

  • Is it possible to have the synthesizer interfaces for the included LOGIC PRO synths in MainsStage as a standalone?

I recently purchased MainStage as they included the instruments from Logic Pro and In the help files it shows the LOGIC synths with the nice GUIs for each included synth; but it seems you have to recreate all of the parameter controls for each synth if using only MainStage as I can not find how to view the synthesizer interfaces.  Does anyone know if this is the case or is there a way to tweak the synths using the nice already layed-out interfaces that are in Logic?

    Hi
Locate the Instrument plugin in the Instrument Channel Strip and double click to open the plugin GUI

after downloading osx 10.9.2 when i open my logic pro 9 and begin to audition loops that came with lp9 i get a message that says "audio device has been removed  and then a second message the " select driver not found(-10202). my interface is a apogee duet. Can anyone provide a solution to this problem. Thanks

    YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!
    I got it!!! Yes!!!
Guys, I've solved my problem about that error -10202 (Selected driver not found).
I have installed in my Mac Pro (OS X 10.5.8) a document with an extension ".rsrc" to correct the position of the accents in my keyboard, like acute accent, tilde and circumflex.
That file is called "U.S. - International.rsrc" and it's stored in the following path:
    "Macintosh HD/Library/Keyboard Layouts"
So, when it's properly installed, I can choose 2 country flags on the right side of the menu bar (U.S. - International and Brazilian).
    That's the clue!
When I pick up "U.S. - International", my keyboard works fine with the accents, >>>BUT<<< Logic Pro 9 doesn't recognize my audio driver; and when I pick up "Brazilian", my keyboard doesn't work with the accents exactly as it shows me on each key, BUT Logic Pro 9 DOES recognize my audio driver.
So, when I want to write anything out, I will pick up the "US - International" and when I want to work on the Logic Pro 9, I will pick up "Brazilian".
I hope I can help all of you.
    Regards,
    Renato Veiga.

I am using Logic Pro version 9. I recently upgrade to OS X 10.10.2 Yosemite software. Now, my M-Audio BlackBox interface is not recognized by the new OS system. Can someone suggest a fix for this? Thanks.

Is that unit bus powered or does it have it's own power supply?
